Yes you're right! This is a tutorial in the 'style of Monet' using acrylics to achieve an impressionist feel. If you wanted to recreate an exact Monet copy, similar to his later work you can use a cream or grey ground . He worked in Oils so the a more muted result - go for it! Cheers, Will

When I try to do this, is very hard to blend the colors. Maybe is the paint I use, I have to add water to the brush to apply the paint, so I can cover the canvas, once dried, I ad a new layer. thanks again, for your contribution to art. robert

It's called a 'tear-off palette' and is a disposable sheet of water repellent paper that you can mix oils or acrylics onto.
