    I once asked my teacher what the hue means on the color name. He said it's a hue, and gave me a lecture on tint and tone. Well thank you.

    This will be my second viewing of your classes, Will. You're an excellent teacher. I studied in Paris with Armand Monago Guerin, and I'm in love with the Impressionists! All of them, especially Monet! Your palette work has taken me to a new level. No more wasting of paints!

  • @willkempartschool
    @willkempartschool  11 років тому +7

    Yes you're right!
    This is a tutorial in the 'style of Monet' using acrylics to achieve an impressionist feel.
    If you wanted to recreate an exact Monet copy, similar to his later work you can use a cream or grey ground .
    He worked in Oils so the a more muted result - go for it!
    Cheers,
    Will

    Thank you for sharing your talent with us. A sample of a professional and the rest of us. I don't see if you use water when applying the paint. When I try to do this, is very hard to blend the colors. Maybe is the paint I use, I have to add water to the brush to apply the paint, so I can cover the canvas, once dried, I ad a new layer.
    thanks again, for your contribution to art.

    Hey so I JUST discovered this series...so neat! So I have the total noob question...."What type paint did you use on your 'color (no 'u' here in the US) ground' that you mention at the very start of this? I listened to that a few times and have not been able to determine what it was...thanks so much!

    Hello, I'm new to oil painting and currently buying all my supplies that are listed on your website about painting this picture. only question I have is can you buy that orange colored canvas online or do you have to paint the whole white canvas over? Thanks!

    • @willkempartschool
      @willkempartschool  8 років тому

      Hi Aldric, the toned canvas is created by painting the white canvas with yellow ochre, have a look at the coloured ground video: ua-cam.com/video/_I0DBo-unH4/v-deo.html

      It's called a 'tear-off palette' and is a disposable sheet of water repellent paper that you can mix oils or acrylics onto.
