What about “How you all are?” 😂 That was my favorite. I still use his steak marinade to this day, everyone loves it as do I. Thank you Justin Wilson! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼
I remember him well. Justin was not born Cajun though he was Catholic and grew up nearby in The Florida parishes which are not among the Cajun Parishes but are heavily influenced by both Cajun and Creole food Culture do to migration over time so he spent a lot of time around them. But Justin Wilson was also a segregationist whom many felt took advantage of and disrespected Cajun culture. His accent is a very strong deep south accent btw not Cajun, but is definitely a transitional French creole influenced Louisiana version of it. Cajun English today sounds quite Southern but is also very distinctive and is significantly French influenced but more like upper Midwest English is German and Norwegian influenced rather then as a Cajun French accent in English. It is not like the standard lower South accent however. In other words, Cajun English today is a uneque and indigenous type of regional Southerner accent and dialect. It is now widely spoken across most of southern and parts of central Louisiana even by many of those without French Ancestry.
I haven't watched this ol boy in about 10.. 15 years. Watched him back in the'70s when I was a youngster. So enjoyed watching again. Thanks for the upload!
Truthfully he was a segregationist, which I’m willing to overlook given the time and area he was raised in, and wasn’t even Cajun himself. He was welsh on his dad's side and his mom had a maiden name (Toadvin) which indicates ancestry from Guernsey but otherwise her genealogy couldn’t be traced properly. What is certain is that neither of his parents were French or Acadian. Justin adopted the Cajun personality and language as part of an act, which was very displeasing to some Cajun people who felt his act was a poor caricature and degrading to Cajun people. That said, he was a great cook and a good entertainer.
I was a kid and grew up watching him with my Aunt from New Orleans. We would just laugh. What great memories. I wish they were all back here now. How I miss them all.

His good-natured personality, mixed with his little Cajun one-liners were absolutely perfect for hooking in viewers. Oh, how my Late Father loved this show. My Father was cajun and from Louisiana so you can't imagine how happy he was when Justin would come on the TV. He loved his cookin', but most of all his stories and his sense of humor.
My sister, dad, and I would watch him all the time when I was a kid. My dad was always impressed by how he could measure the spices exactly in his palm. This brings such nostalgia. I hope Justin's family knows how much joy he brought people with his show.

When I moved to this Country as a college student I spent my afternoons between classes watching PBS and I was mesmerized by Justin’s shows. It taught me of the depth of American culture and I was hooked with his cooking and how funny and entertaining he was.

Oh MAN!! I had forgotten growing up watching this sweet and skilled, down home to earth man!! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for reminding me how much I loved watching him. Thank you!
Gawd I loved Justin. My oldest son Kevin used to set in front of the TV and watch his show every weekend, and I learned some of my finest recipes from that show.
I remember being a little girl 8 years watching Justin Wilson with my grandmother. I loved his show and his stories. Cooking was always a passion of mine. It’s good to know how at 36 a lot of my inspiration came from him and my creole background.
used to watch him when I was a kid... Even then, he was fun to watch, R.I.P. Mr. Wilson, your memories and teachings will continue on. 🤗😎 👍👍👍
I grew up in a area similar to south Louisiana, but in Texas and watched Justin every time he was on tv. Besides my mom's cooking I always enjoyed his cuisine. He always had you glued to the tv when he was cooking and telling his great stories. Classic stuff! Thanks for the memories Justin!
I love Justin Wilson's cooking! My Daddy God Rest his soul in heaven, I watched him cook on the weekend's, we loved his show. So nice to see him now at my tender age of 66. Time sure flys. I miss my Daddy. Wish he was watching with me now. God rest Justin Wilson's soul in heaven.
I still use some of his methods 30 years later. Brings back some good memories.
Something from my childhood long forgotten.

My late husband and I loved him!
We even watched him in the hospital room 33 years ago right after I had my son! We loved when he kept pouring in the wine while he kept talking!
A national treasure. These new fangled celebrity chefs need to take a look back at people like Justin Wilson, Jacques Pepin, Julia Child, and others. Watch and learn from the greats.
You mean cooking isn't about selling your products or restaurants?

Bayou Boy, Thank you for posting that. I was not sure if he died. It was SO good to see him pop up on the UA-cam suggestions. I watched him a lot on channel 13 in NY.
Bayou Boy Just 6 days before 9/11.. He didn't have to witness that sad day.
@@johndifrancisco3642 Justin Wilson stood up for us Cajuns when not many did. He hated how the Cajun people were seen as a joke and traitors. And we owe him a thanks of gratitude.

Been watching Mr. Wilson since the 80's in LA on PBS. Learned so much as he demonstrated how to make really good authentic Cajun Food. Great food! He is an Icon in the great State of Louisiana! May he rest in peace.

my mother and grandmother taught me a lot but watching mr. wilson, pasquale and the frugal gourmet really opened up the world of food for me back when i was younger. thanks for the lessons, i'm glad to see your legacy live on.
When we had 3, 6, 10, 12, 17, 29 and 48 in Philadelphia there was more to watch on TV than there is now with hundreds of cable stations. Miss shows like this, Graham Kerr, Bob Ross etc. How about Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and ABC wide world of Sports..
I loved watching Justine Wilson and Graham Kerr. Do you remember Chef Tell .
seeburgm100a and don't forget roller derby and Elvira on the weekends.
I agree seeburgm100a. 200 cable stations and nothing on. We had 2,4,5,7,9,11 and 13 in Jersey. Love how Justin says onyon.
