Thanks for information about CCS adopters!😊
Very cool they are functionally equivalent.
Nice video. I like the option of having CCS for a backup from Tesla's network.
I was just looking for this comparison, I am in small town in Ontario where mostly chademo or CCS and got tesla M3 last week.
thanks
Hey great video ... I enjoy seeing a fellow canadian talk about issues that relate to what is going on in canada.
cheers
Congratulations to the winner! 🎉😅
I just ordered my model Y, so this is a great test. Thanks, I need all the info I can geg
I would still prefer to use the CCS Tesla adapter but to have options is always a good thing. In Quebec not many Tesla superchargers across the province for me CCS adapter a must have. Good review!
We got the Hansshow adapter just before Tesla made it available! It's been tested exactly as the video, works great!!
I agree mine works exactly as same as the Tesla version even at extreme high-speed of 189 kW
The CCS Adaptor will be a good addition for my roadtrips to the USA!
Electrify America 350kw stalls are insane!
Now if only they could increase the reliability and availability. Seems like 1 or more stalls are out of order.
Thank you for the review! Enjoy learning about the charging options.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, I want one of these mainly for travel. To be honest, around DFW, there just are not many CCS chargers. One Electrify America in Ft. Worth and a few 50KW EVgo locations, but I want one for options when I'm on a long trip.
Thanks for testing and comparing the CCS adapters.
Any time!
Excellent review !!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge !!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to have a different option to charging . Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the CCS-1 adapter review! Good to see the prices coming down.
Any time!
This video was so helpful! 🙏 Thank you. I’m still new to the EV world and still navigating the charging options for my Tesla. I live in an area in BC Canada - that is far behind most municipalities for charging stations / options. Cheers K
Welcome fellow BC'er. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the comparison review of the adaptor. It's a lot of money to spend, and it's nice to see the products in action.
Thanks for watching!
Was looking at exactly the comparison. With the current discount code from Hannshow, it’s about $50 cheaper
I am also a 'BC Tesla Guy' that could benefit greatly from this CCS adapter!
Great video! The CCS adapter is essential where I live as Superchargers are very limited. Thanks for the opportunity!
Good luck!
Thanks for this comparison video. CCS adapter definitely opens up Tesla driver option to be able to charge at most if not all stations. Definitely great for someone like me who goes on road trip. Hope I win this adaptor, or else I will buy one later on.
Thanks for the comparison between the two adapters. Great information. Thanks for showing the temps! Hope I win!
Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I travel so much I would love to win this adapter.
Good luck!
Get my Model Y in the next 5-10 days and I didn't even know this was a thing. Thanks for the informative video.
Good luck!
With the ccs adapter I will look forward to visiting other chargers and seeing vehicles other than Tesla. There are lots coming on the market now.
Thanks for watching. Good Luck!
Seattle checking in!! I'm a firm believer that all this is stuff is exactly the same, one just has a label for placebo only.
same here. thanks for watching.
Purchased one from Hans show days before the Tesla one came out for NA. Glad to know there isn’t a huge difference between the two but wound still prefer oem.
you should be ok. I will be using my Hansshow too.
Would be great to have for visiting areas like the Nelson that don't have a Supercharger
Totally agree. Last summer, my daughter got married in Castlegar, and we stayed in Nelson. I had to rent a chademo adapter because there were no superchargers past Princeton. It's much better now with several new Superchargers east of Princeton, but this adapter really opens up travel in BC. Thanks for watching, Good Luck!
I like this ccs adapter i wish i saw this video earlier to get chance to win this one
This charger is good investment for coming increasing cost of supercharger. It is the option for trip traveller to the North as well 😊
Totally agree!
Nice initiative @bcteslaguy!!!
You should be followed by many more people in my opinion.
thanks. Good Luck
Great video bud! I have been thinking about getting a CCS connector for additional piece of mind when travelling.
peace of mind. Charging Options. Good Luck!
Great review. Just recently heard about Tesla coming out with the CCS adapter and had no idea about hansshow. Thanks for the comparison.
Glad to help!
I own a salvaged Tesla and Tesla took away the Supercharger capability on the vehicle. This new adapter is going to be a game changer for me on long road trips. Right now my CHAdeMO adapter gets me around 45 KW, this is going to triple that rate. Really looking forward to getting my Model S modified and updated to use this adapter!
you'll be happy with CCS after using chademo. Today I hit 203kW @ 27% SOC. Good Luck!
CCS adapter will be useful for long road trips away from home charging
Yes for sure. Good Luck!
Thank you for the info on the 2 adapters. I would like a chance to win the adapter.
Thanks for watching. Good luck!
I want this adapter so bad. Couldn’t order from Korea. Can’t wait to use it on road trips. Thank you . Looking forward to it.
Good luck!
Sweet more options for fast charging!
It’s about time!
Very interesting review. I wasn't aware that Tesla's CCS adapter was actually available for purchase in North America. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for watching!
thank you for doing this, having the ccs adapter would be very helpful to charge closer to me (superchargers are a bit far away). I wonder if there will be ccs to tesla adapters soon as well 👀
I am a brand new Tesla owner, and am looking to folks like you for advice. Thank you for comparing the two brands of adapters.
You're Welcome.
Cool adapter. Waiting for it since long time
You and me both!
Good review. I was wondering what's the difference, now I know. Thanks for your video. Hopefully I'll win the draw.
Great review, hopefully I win, travel a lot and like to have options when it comes to charging.
Good luck!
Getting one or the other would reduce our range anxiety on road trips to unfamiliar places.
exactly. thanks for watching
Thanks for the review, I've also been considering the A2Z adapter, the BC Hydro station youre filming at is close to me, will be nice to take advantage of a 100kwh charger so close to me.
that station has 50 & 100kW stations. The 100kW is a good deal at $0.27/minute but PetroCan in Langley is a 200kW for $0.27/minute. I just got the A2Z adapter for testing and my first impressions are really good. It feels solid, a bit smaller. I will test it this weekend to see if it can reach the same 189+kW at a low SOC and warm battery. Wait till I do the testing before purchasing. I will have a discount code to save you a bit extra. FYI, their current price $299.93 includes taxes and shipping.
Great review! This would be really nice to use when I go back and forth from Michigan and Illinois quite frequently.
Good luck!
@@BCTeslaGuy thank you!
I’m glad Tesla can use CCS chargers.
Me Too. More charging options are always better. thanks for watching
Thank you for the informative review.
My pleasure!
Awesome review Dennis! Was considering getting one due to the pricing structure where I live to be per minute.
Ya, I'm hoping Canada moves to billing per kW instead of per minute soon. thanks for watching
I've been waiting for this CCS. Adapter to become available in N. America since last year Christmas. I've even tried to use a VPN to order it from Korea with a 3rd party address but the payment method wouldn't work for me.
Already a long time subscriber, I hope I win this contest!
General VenomX from Hawaii 🤙🏼
Fingers crossed!
Would love to try charging that isn’t home charging or supercharging for a change 😂
Thanks for the review - hope to win!
Good Luck!
I love watching your channel. I live in Canada and CCS is not available in Tesla Canada yet. I’ve been checking every day. Really hope to be the lucky winner. Thank you!
Good Luck Eh!
Great review and nice comparison. Keep sharing such good information 👍
Thank you, I will
Thank you for the video!!!
My pleasure!
Great info 👍🏻 Thank you !
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for your informational video about the CCS adaptor.
I'm looking to get my hand on one of those after seeing your video about how much money you saved compared the Tesla supercharger.
Glad I could help. thanks for watching
If I win the adapter I may have to buy "a bundle of wires with a board" as I have a 2018 model 3
Hey Denis
I just took delivery of 2022 Model Y from Langley. You should do a comparison video of 3 and Y. I haven't tried CCS adapter of any kind on it but it will be nice to try one. I am already subscribed so keeping my fingers crossed for giveaway 🤞
20 gm lighter on a generic adapter helps to lessen the weight hanging out from the port
I just looked at my credit card and I realized Tesla supercharger stations are EXPENSIVE. So I just changed my level 2 charging station at home starting after 12.05 am. I was told 5 cents per instead of 10 cents
Nice review. I have always found the price of the CCS adapters to be to high as SC are plenty but having one would be a great safty net for when one is not close. Again good review.
Totally agree. Tesla released at $250 forced 3rd party sellers to lower their prices. If you charge from home or don't do many road trips, this device may sit in your trunk unused. I got mine for road trips, cheaper charging (Superchargers are really expensive in Canada), and the ability to travel to locations where Tesla Superchargers don't exist. Good Luck!
@@BCTeslaGuy I am planning a road trip in the new year to Wyoming. Although lots of SC along the way, within 100kms of my destination there are 0. And even third party are scarce. But I can plug my moble into a 220v outlet at my destination. So there is that. Lol
I want one just to have for emergencies. There's 1 CCS station in an area no where near a super charger I'd love to try.
That's the benefit of having the CCS adapter. Good Luck!
Looks good
I would be interested to see how Canadian made A2Z CCS adapter compares to Tesla CCS adapter.
BTW, I can use the adapter. Thank you for the video.
I will be testing the A2Z very soon. Mine arrives in a few days. I expectation is they will be similar. Good Luck!
Big Island Hawaii here, no supercharger support on this island, the ccs 1 is the only adapter that will give a decent charge. Have been looking at Tesla site but no ccs adapter available yet for me.
My parents recently bought an Ioniq5, so I was looking into a CCS adapter so I would be able to stop at the same chargers they do when we drive together.
You should also do the same test at a DC fast charger (Eg. Electrify Canada) and see what the speeds are. You would also need to start at the same battery % (SOC) for this test for better accuracy.
I've done separate tests and got the same results. I will have to do a comparison video. Like you said it's a bit more challenging as I would have to burn off some of the SOC to start the second one at the same charge. In 5 minutes I could add as much as 15-20%.
Need ✋
Great info, Dennis! I've been trying to decide between the Tesla adapter and the A2Z. The Hansshow is also an option.
I would think any of them would be fine. Good thing is you now have options. Tesla if you want official adapter or save a few dollars with A2Z or Hansshow. thanks for watching and good luck!
Thanks for the comparison of the 2 different brands of adapters. What is the long pin for on either unit? Great video by the way. Thanks for posting!
Locking pin.
Just found it on the tesla website, not an easy search. Doesn't come up in my tesla app. I did order it though.
Hi BC Tesla Guy , love your channel. I am interested in the CCS adapter and your drawing. Thank you for this generous offer. I have mixed feelings between charging at CCS stations like EA v keeping my support for Tesla chargers which really do deserve to be used rather than other companies, so Tesla can continue to expand and improve the Tesla network. That being said CCS adapter might be good to have for rare range emergency charging if for some reason you can’t make it to a Tesla charger. Though again, not sure how you can fake preconditioning without a Tesla charger nearby. Also not sure my MYLR 2021 will be compatible until some future upgrade available. Final thought is EA network seems to be a nightmare of failed devices. Gotta wonder where the Biden bill $ are going to go to build out the CCS network. Thanks for your consideration.
Great video as always
Thanks again!
Wish someone would cut them apart and compare the internal parts.
Great video! Just as Tesla released the adapter in North America, I got one delivered from South Korea. It looks different and I found out that it's a knock off made in China. It seems to work just fine but I think I'll eventually get the right adapter.
If it's the one they just started to sell at Harum, I believe it's the same as the A2Z version sold here in Canada. I will be testing that one very soon.
@@BCTeslaGuy Yes, I think that's exactly the same unit. Thanks!!
Thank you so much for your comprehensive hands-on comparison . . . Greatly appreciated! I could have used this when I travelled east this past summer. Hoping to go back, better-prepared next time!
Glad it was helpful!
I need a retrofit for my M3 and MY.
There are kits out there now that you can buy and install yourself or the other option is to wait for Tesla next year. :-)
@@BCTeslaGuy I'll wait. No hurry.
I hope they will hurry and get the upgrade ready for pre Oct. 2020 cars without the CCS options. I guess I could do it myself if I can get my hands on the "bundle of wires" adapter and a Gen 4 Charging ECU. Guess we shall see what their upgrade cost is.
A2Z sells the ECU and bundle of wires as a package. Good luck!
@@BCTeslaGuy Unfortunately they no longer sell the Gen 4 ECU. I'll just have to wait if I can't get a SC to sell me the ECU I guess.
Please enter me for the ccs. Thanks, Pete, Tsawwassen
A winner was already announced. I will have more giveaways in the future. thanks for watching
It's great to know there are alternative CSS adapter to OEM that actually work as expected. Thank you for reviewing this and very appreciative your out of pocket spending.
Glad it was helpful!
its awesome they released this adaptor! iv been seeing alot more BC hydro charging stations so its good to have in your car!
Thanks for watching. Just wish BC Hydro would do more than 50kW. I know there are a few 100kW around.
@@BCTeslaGuy ya thats true, but still its nice to have the option!
I agree. There are quite a few in the BC interior. The one at Manning Park is a nice stop to stretch your legs and grab some food.
Make a friend in Hawaii and send me one 🤗💯🤙🏼
Good Luck
Thanks for the charge comparison temp check on both these units. I have been wanting this adapter for a while but was hesitant ordering it from Korea. Happy to know Tesla finally released this for sale in North America. Now let’s win this adapter and bring it home to Arizona.
My pleasure! Good Luck!
Nice info
Thanks
great vids ! send the CCS this way 🙏 ! liked and sub !
Thanks for the sub!
They do seem quite similar so I’m glad that it’s just a price difference and not a performance difference. I’m glad you’re testing this adapter because we could use one when travelling up Vancouver Island as Nanaimo is the last supercharger and 1of 2 on the island so BC Hydro is the next option to really explore.
Thanks for watching!
Another great review Dennis! I actually just recently updated the charge port on my 2020 SR+ and went thru the software update. My car now has CCS charging enabled! Now I’m just missing the CCS adaptor itself 😉
Very cool. I'm surprised you have time for your car with all the stuff you're doing. Glad to see your business going well. Good Luck!
Glad to hear that Tesla is making them. There are some places around me that have the CCS charger. Always good to have one in case superchargers are busy.
Very true!
My man. This is my chance to own one lol
Good Luck.
@@BCTeslaGuy I just want to let you know that I’m from Burnaby and to save you some time, I can dm you my address, Mr. Dunbar. Haha, I’m just joking, I’ve seen you on Facebook so don’t be surprised if I know your last name Dennis😅
@@IOXY3 haha
Thank you for the well presented informative video! This adapter will definitely come in handy for those who travel often, or for those who may not have superchargers available. For me as an example, I live in NJ and have children in both Maine and Florida. Having different charging options is definitely a plus. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!
Im subscribed 🎉😊
thanks
Glad the Tesla adapter is finally available here. Looks like Hanshow did a direct copy. I'm surprised they arent in trouble over that. Another way to charge my Y will be great.
thanks for watching, good luck!
Nice review! This definitely opens up the options for charging to us Tesla owners. Great that access to these is now more viable through North America between both Hansshow and Tesla. I believe this adapter makes the Vancouver, BC to Jasper, AB trip doable now too.
Absolutely! There are some nice spots along the way where you stop, stretch your legs, and topoff your battery. 50kW BC Hydro chargers are on that route. Good Luck!
The CCS adapter gives nice charging options for travelers, especially with rising Supercharger rates
I think this adapter is a good step into the future, assuming that more and more EV charging stations will be available.. This will be helpful for tesla owners since it won't restrict us to only Superchargers. Thanks for posting this video!
Totally agree. Gives us all more charging options.
Great review of these two adapters! I could REALLY have used one last summer on my 4000+ mile cross country road trip from Seattle to Copper Harbor MI. The last 260 miles there were NO Tesla chargers either supercharger or destination chargers along that segment. NOW there is several CCS locations so next year's repeat trip will have that option. I can't buy one from Telsa because they won't sell it to anyone whose car isn't yet enabled to support it. (That's another 3rd party purchase at the moment.) Whether I win or not, thank you for having this giveaway!
no problem. there are options out there to install the retro-kit yourself or have some one install. Doesn't look that difficult. Good Luck!
I’m glad Tesla is selling the adaptor. It gives tesla owners more freedom across the charging networks. They can go to more places without chargers, which I intend to now do 😁👍🏼
Totally agree
Honestly I think at some point Tesla is going to go all CCS and maybe have a new substandard. Think about how apple did it with usb-c and thunderbolt. Same plug, vastly greater capabilities if plugged in to the right devices. As for the giveaway, I would very much appreciate it. My nearest supercharger is ~40 miles away, but there is an electrify america at my local Walmart. I rent so I can't install a quick charger, so I have to charge using the mobile charger. Often times I can't get it charged enough and eventually I just need to spend a day at home or have someone else take me somewhere :/ Renting stinks, but good luck getting a home in this market unless you already own one lol
We would all benefit from a charging standard. I prefer the ease of the Tesla plug. Globally, the CCS plug is the standard. I find it bulky. Good Luck!
@@BCTeslaGuy agreed. The Tesla plug is nice 👌 CCS is bulky but it will probably be similar to USB, they have usb-a,b,c having a few major revisions before a much superior implementation is pretty typical. In the long run I think a smaller connector will be the new "revision" of CCS at some point, but it will probably take a while.
