I hope you see this Fr Mike but I want to tell you that the other day here in outback Australia, a local farmer was coming down the road on my property and he was wearing his headphones. I greeted him and asked what he was listening to and he said “Father Mike, gets me through the day.” Just so you are aware of your reach Father!
Praise God! Whether Fr Mike hears or not, that is soooo great to hear, sure warms me ol Aussie heart! I can’t believe sometimes that there can be so much lack of faith and ignorance of God in our country!

I am so grateful for this opportunity, Father Mike. I was so poorly catechized, I didn’t know we had a catechism of the Catholic Church. I feel the 1970s was the beginning of many lost generations of cradle Catholics. I pray for the Holy Spirit to light many of us on fire in our faith and a return to tradition.
I agree. My parents went to Catholic schools grades 1-12 and received a good education and were taught the faith. My siblings and I went to public school and CCD every week for about an hour. We made our sacraments but really had little understanding of the faith. Glad this is being offered.
I completely agree. I did my first Communion and Confirmation in 1992 and I was very, very poorly formed / Catechized.

1970s in Catholic schools too. Bless the souls helping us now know our beautiful Catholic Faith, Scripture, and God. It is challenging but not impossible.
Father Mike, residing in Fl., my husband and I were sitting at a restaurant and I began a conversation with a couple and as we were talking, your name came up and for one hour we talked about BIAY and how wonderful it is to speak openly about our faith and keep spreading Gods word. I received my Catechism of the Catholic Church a few weeks ago. Looking forward to Jan 1st to start CIAY. Thank you, Jeff and Fr Mike.
We're very excited to begin this journey! As a convert, my husband was very confused about the origin of the Catechism, however. I explained that as a kid I was taught the Baltimore Catechism and that everything dates way back to 1545, the Council of Trent. That council solidified Catholic teachings into 1 body of texts. Just wanted to put that out there in case anyone else was confused. As Fr Mike clarified, these teachings date back to the Apostles! Praise be to God!

Oh Fr. Mike I pray for you everyday. Thank you for always saying yes to the spreading of God. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but let me tell you, that's so not true. I am a 76 years old recent widow that just finished the BIY who is wondering what rock I've been under all my life. Oh my goodness.

Father, Mike and Jeff, I want to thank you for your Bible in a year podcast and I’m looking forward to the catechism in a year also.
I work in the medical field, and I take care of people every day, but I found myself becoming a recluse since the lockdown, and the only place I could turn to was either god or a gambling addiction that I have. At first I turn to the gambling addiction and let me tell you. It nearly ruined my life. I still struggle with it day from day day today all the time I’ve always Looked at well maybe if I just go play this game or that game. It’s not even for the greed or for the money of it. It’s just for that addiction. In my minds I I know that I will never win enough. That’s just the way the addictions are!
So I’ve started turning towards the Bible in a year I’m on day 55 and so that means I am wondering in the desert with the tribes of Israel and learning a lot about the struggles regular people in ancient times had to deal with and it’s really not much different from today. Just a different type form of the evil Lord, I call him the fallen one, as I know that Lucifer is. And then when I pray to Christ I feel so loved. Anyway, I want to thank you for the new podcast upcoming and it’s great because I’ll be able to follow you in real time instead of being behind a couple years and I can also ask questions in real time. I pray for you, so I ask that you pray for me also as I continue to struggle day-to-day with life and my addictions, as well as the suffering of other people. Wondering if I’m doing the right thing, but I know I’m doing the best I can as long as I have Christ with me and I accept it. I am nothing without the Lord our God and Christ and his Holy Spirit than I know. In the end everything will be fine. I remember using the Catechism of the Catholic Church it was our main tool along with our misales later was the Bible for teaching catechism. there was a Catechism for Children in first communion classes, another for the Youth in confirmation classes, another for Adults, the non Catholic or just behind on their sacraments and wanted to get married in the Catholic Church.

I have recently bought two books of the Catechism of The Church.... One is the Catechism of Trent and the other is Baltimore ( Brown and green ). It is so appreciate it to have this podcast because I have tried to read it but it's not the same.

A lot of us were very, very poorly formed in the teachings of The Church most importantly the law, commandments and teachings of God. I once was partially blind of the truth and I have been Catholic my whole life who was very poorly formed in the Faith. God bless all of those who are making the podcast possible to / for us. Sacred Tradition and Scriptures ... analogy ... they are two rails of railway track ... looking at it we feel they meet at a distance ... but never ... astonishingly.... they are dependent on each other .... and the Magisterium moves on like the train ... holding the deposit of faith .... handing over the Divine Revelation ... to the hungry faithful .... Lead Us Lord ....
For the sake of our Protestant listeners (I am one, too)... I think it is helpful knowing that I believe this is an amazing Catholic version of what the Russian Orthodox has.
Messaged a more detailed suggestion to Ascension Press for their consideration and, also, so I hope they keep this comment for y'all's and their sake of backing up their position as advocating the Catholic Church. I, too, am advocating the Catholic Church.

- “The Longer Catechism of the Eastern Orthodox Church: The Catechism of St. Philaret of Moscow”
- “Called To Serve” by John Peck (of ASONA, Father)
There's also a "Divine Liturgy" by John Peck which helps show the reason for the "Orthodox Mass" though there is also Vespers, just like the Catholics do have "the Hours".
I listen to Bishop Barron, as well; he's Catholic. :)
I protest the Orthodox Church; Protestants have protested the Catholic Church for centuries but most Protestants do not know the reasons for the split and, so, if you like the Catholic Church then, please, go there! Ephesians, "one Lord, one Faith, one baptism", so you are likely to grow more in the Catholic Church than as a Protestant since there is so much garbage and potentially heretical sources which Catholics don't go to whereas a Protestant might. ... There are reasons for why books are not included into the Bible or official Church documents; it either isn't as useful as what is official or it is not salvific. Literature is literature, Church sources are salvific.
The question how do the people live God's word in these present times when lot of happenings taking place like covid, famine, earthquake and war???

Why didn't we just republish the Baltimore Catechism? Why do the Eastern rites have their own catchecisms?
Is the reading plan in the catechism notebook like it was in BIAY notebook?

I have just found you. How important is it for me to do the "Bible in a Year" prior to the "Catechism in a Year"? I downloaded the reading plan today. I just ordered the book, so I will not get it by the 1st. Do I need to skip this section and go to the "Bible in a Year" 1st?
You don’t have to do either of them first. You can do them both at the same time or at different times
Fr. Mike, I need some guidance on reading The Catechism In A Year and The Bible In A Year. I am reading/listening to the Bible In A Year for a second time. Would you recommend that I do both at the same time or break it up through out my day?
