When I went to the March for life rally earlier this year in DC, we had so so many wonderful speakers. But it was undeniable that everyone there was waiting for Fr. Mike Schmitz. They anticipated him so much. Each guest speaker would come out and you could hear a quiet sigh of frustration because everyone thought it was Fr. Mike Schmitz that was the next guest but it wasn’t. They actually had him be the last speaker. He’s a kind and holy man. May God bless him and continue to use him to evangelize the world.

Child abuse happens everywhere, and it is way more common in schools
Of course it is still evil, but let's mot pretend that this is a "Catholic only" problem
      Don't buy the propganda

You just want to attack the Church

@@MZONE991 When a school finds a teacher abusing kids do they send the teacher away to another school in another district where they can continue abusing other children? Your church does that with priests. Do schools refuse to work with the authorities to protect child abusing teachers? Your church does. Do schools claim to be representing God on Earth? Your church does. Every penny you put in the plate goes towards a child abusing criminal organisation. Can you point out which of these statements is untrue?

Yes, Fr. Mike is awesome but Jeff Cavins is just as awesome. Every time I listen to him I am enlightened and given a handful of nuggets to contemplate on. Thank you Lord for inspiring Jeff and passing the torch to Fr. Mike to run with it. Thank you Mr. Cavins for accepting God’s plan for you. With your foundational beginnings many people will be reached and many souls will be saved. Thank you for your transparency and example of how to overcome a very common but challenging human emotion. Praying for you and God bless. 😊

I first heard about the Bible Timeline through the Bible-in-a-Year podcast hosted by Fr Mike Schmitz. Recently, I started the 6-month Bible Timeline Study Program created by Jeff Cavins. I have always wanted to read and understand the Bible but would get stumped at difficult passages and then give up. For the first time in my life, I am finally able to comprehend God's words at a deeper level. The words are coming to life and changing my life! Jeff is brilliant and a genius. I am forever grateful for the work that he did and continues to do.

I actually liked this question. Everyone has a "Jobs/Wozniak" experience at least once in their life when working on a project. One person does most of the work and the other person becomes the face of it and gets most of the credit. It's a good lesson for every Christian to not burn with envy, accept their role, and be happy for both themselves and their partner. It's also important to note that what was achieved would not have been possible without either person playing their part.

Jeff Cavins has a major part in the audio series, introducing each era. I am impressed by his honesty here, but I am not suprised. It's his love, of God and His Word, and his brothers and sisters that lead him to this remarkable work. That same love keeps him from resenting Fr Mike Schmitz.

I love "Bible in a Year" & I love both Jeff Cavins AND Fr. Mike. The combined work of these two holy men has allowed BIAY to become a powerhouse medium for bringing God to the world. I am so grateful for them both & for their ability to allow their love of God to supersede any ego that would have interfered.
However I try to say these next comments, it's likely to come out wrong, so I will say, "mea culpa" ahead; please forgive me ... both Jeff & Fr. Mike are intelligent, attractive, Godly men, but each has his own particular levels of the same talents that have been maximized in the role each has played, in order to gain a brilliant end-result.
Jeff's intellectual, scholarly, & creative abilities gave birth to incredible content & incredible insights in ways that have made God's word so much more digestible. His intro to each new section is approachable & flawless & I very much NEED Jeff's intros to help me relate to what is coming next.
Fr. Mike's exceedingly approachable, somewhat "ADD-ways" including his effusive love & wonder of God & scripture, along with his humble presentation, often with tiny mistakes here or there (which he humbly accepts, corrects, & then keeps going), makes one feel, "he's just like me... he's not perfect & I can relate!" His commentary on each day's readings is presented with humility, sensitivity, & insightfulness.
Fr. Mike is SO obviously cognizant of, humbled by, & incredibly grateful for the amazing work & contributions of Jeff Cavins to this project, & it is the combination of these two men's God-given gifts/contributions which has finally gotten me through the entire Bible for the first time in my cradle-Catholic life! (And now started on year 2!) God's hand is so obviously all over this project, & I am HUGELY grateful!

I thank God and prayed every day for both Fr. Mike and Mr. Cavins, because even though I've been baptized Catholic since I was an infant, it wasn't until I listened to the BIAY podcast that I actually really fell in love with Catholicism and appreciated just how rich and beautiful and wonderful the teachings of the Catholic Church actually is.
I'm trying to get through year 2 as well, and it amazes me just how much more I am still learning from the podcast.

In God's vineyard, one prepares the soul, another plants the seeds, another waters and cultivates it then the Harvesters comes and gathers the fruits of the harvest. Each contributes and does not claim the fruits as their own. Jeff knows this too well. It is not his work but God's work. True indeed Jeff Calvin's and others like Scott Hahn are our modern Apostles fired with spreading the Word of God, not competing with each other but collaborating with each other for the Kingdom of God.

Dr. Taylor is a big-eared genuinely devout Catholic who I wish would come home to us.
Fr. Casey is a socially awkward Franciscan who has wisdom and youth the Church needs. Sometimes this wisdom shines forth, but at other times he is hindered by the influence of the older friars who are in need of prayer.

I read stories of the saints and they talk about how this saint knew that saint whilst they were each doing their thing and I wonder what that must have been like to live in those times and know these saints who were walking around, if not personally then at least by name and reputation.
And then I feel like we are living the same way, when in times to come perhaps (please God) these beautiful Catholic witnesses, Cavins, Hahn, Schmidt, (you too Matt!) will be proclaimed saints and we can think … hey, I knew these guys!

1 Cor 3:5-9 "What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labor of each. For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building."

Human beings have always wanted and tried to save themselves from their own sins and earn their own eternal salvation. It is part of our sinful nature to do so. But there is no amount of human good works that could ever satisfy the demands of perfect holiness before YHWH because we “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But Jesus, The Christ, was SINLESS and He satisfied all the demands of perfect righteousness. So He shed His own blood and died for our sins in order to redeem us. Then He rose from the dead and victoriously offered that glorious gift of eternal life to anyone and everyone who believes in Him and His promise to give us this gift. Hallelujah, What a Savior!! AND NOW we are FREE in Christ - at LIBERTY to LOVE OTHERS!
      Shalom

I don't see Fr. Mike as Gimmicky. He may seem not as serious, perhaps because he works with youth and college age students, I think that his approach fits those groups. I find him very orthodox and very well read. But he does not come off as an intellectual. I am of the past retirement age group and I love all Fr. Mike does in this BIAY and his other podcasts and videos. As a former teacher I very much see his appeal. I think he fits "Unless you become as little children…” very well. He has a different approach than Jeff Cavins. Both are humble men. Both are very good at what they do. God gives each of us different gifts, and He expects us to use the gifts we are given. Jeff and Fr. Mike use their gifts well, all to the greater glory of God!

You Catholics are becoming like protestants .....who admire the man ( if he's dynamic etc ) not the word
    Stop that
I have seen people jump churches just because the priest is not dynamic ....stop that ....we don't go to church or a lecture to admire the person ...we go to hear God's word .

Father Mike Schmitz recently made a video about his new Tattoo in his left wrist and that is WRONG on so many levels. Whoever watch that video may think he is endorsing tattoos and giving them a green light for others to get one. One thing is that he wanted to get a tattoo, another that he make a video endorsing them. That's odd. Our bodies are not our own. They belong to G-d and are temples of the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 6:19. Man has no right to voluntarily mutilate his members. Saint Basil The Great condemned Tattoos as they are sinful. He is free to agree or disagree, but to leads others to believe in his opinion, is to take other souls to commit a sinful act on themselves. Careful when listening to this Father, something ain't right here. Blessings!

What’s wrong with the Name of Jesus and the Jerusalem cross on your wrist? The Church does not consider tattooing a sin

    • @sonsmith4809
      @sonsmith4809 2 роки тому

@@meihui7767 Its against the W-rd of G-d. Study the Scriptures, it is clear. The Church was also against it until recently.
We are now living the times were some people within the Church and outside the Church, for lack of knowledge (or other reasons) are trying to change what is clearly written in the Bible with the pretext that we are living modern times and therefore we must adapt to such times.
This is a huge misunderstanding of the Bible and a Sin by all accounts. The W-rd of G-d is Eternal. Had no time and we must follow it if we want to be saved. This is not an option but a commandment.
Tattoos has a long association with the worse kinds of paganism that goes back to the Maya, Inca and Aztec times when were used on rituals. In fact, if we look further, we can see that tattoos goes way back to Neolithic times.
The Father is a representative of the Church and as such, he has to be very cautious with what he says in public since it can lead thousands of people astray. That video is a mistake since many people who don't have tattoos could get one after seeing his video endorsing them. Blessings!
