Best demo I’ve seen of this pedal. I love when you really cranked the mix of the effect to really show off what it does. The reverb itself doesn’t impress me like other Strymon reverbs but the ensemble mode is a ton of fun.
God that Hi Gain tone is bad ass on that guitar and your AxeFx setup or whatever cool thing you're playing thru brother. Thank you for enriching my life with all these great video's and killer guitar sounds! Love it.. That pedal sounds great too! Styman is like Eventide in that it seems everything they make sounds great!
I know those face expressions around 9:00-9:45… aural bliss! I listen to mainly heavy music but I also dabble into vaporwave/dreamwave/slushwave… those phaserwave airy synth pad parts are so satisfying…! Love your content man! You review of the Strymon DIG helped me pull the trigger a few years ago… and now I’m about to open up my wallet again.
Yeay!! Leon brings the filth to a pedal everyone else avoids, seriously the best filthy tone on YT are on this channel, will go & try it now, thanks Leon.
As usual, same pedal as other UA-camrs, and yet I can hear far more easily what the pedal sounds like when you play and adjust the parameters. It seems that most UA-camrs don't really spend the time to get to know the piece of gear well enough to showcase the best of what it can do. You hit on the sweet spots here Leon. This is the best demo of this pedal online.
Strymon is easily my favorite pedal company because they do mostly nail that combination of versatile, great sounding but easy to use. I have a Nightsky so don't feel a huge need to own a Cloudburst even if it's a bit different. I do want to see more from them in this small form factor - preferably some unique ones rather than taking parts of their other pedals.
Great work, as ever, Leon! Just picked up one of these for acoustic playing. Super-inspiring! I wonder what Strymon will bring out in this form factor next - I can see a market for a delay with that little switch selecting tape, digital and analog. And maybe another mini-Zelzah/Ola/Lex type modulation thing! Oh, and how about a mini-compressor - that'd be super-handy :)
Hey Tristan! Loved your GT columns when I was starting out. Small world hey. Strymon should definitely do all the pedals you mentioned in this form factor.
@@tristanseume it was pretty much my only connection to the outside world in my teens - we had crap dial up internet so I was lucky my local newsagency stocked it. Life changing!
@@LeonTodd very grateful to hear that! Ironic that your work is now so heavily reliant on bandwidth! Keep up the great work - I really enjoy your videos.
Sound wonderful but since i just have a regular mono setup i find i can do with very cheap reverbs, not hearing any difference since the "room" of stereo isn't there anyway
Wow! You got some cool ambience with those volume swells...I only know cheap reverb pedals, but I assume you'd be getting quality with a Strymon pedal, I've seen people swear buy there products. Sounds awesome to me.oh and when you got the Strat out..💥☀️🙃
I've just swapped this for a Strymon Flint. I found the Cloudburst regular reverb sounds beautiful but limited, and the ensemble tones DO to me sound similar to a good shimmer, and apart from just noodling with nice noises, I didn't see that I could get a lot of mileage out of this.
I don't own any Strymon pedals, they're usually a bit out of my budget. But this sounds absolutely stunning! Might have to pick one of these up. Loving the smaller form factor too. That clean section... WOW!! 👌🏼
Oooohhh sounds from 2:20 - 9:00 are gorgeous! Leon, do you have any recommendations of what pedals I can use (in addition to the cloudburst) to get the dirt sound? Is the clean sound just your guitar + cloudburst + amp?
Strymon needs to send you every one of their pedals to demo and let you keep em matey , what's lupin say about that aye ? 😺. He was dancing on cloud 9 backstage.. miss him.
Could you do a demo of walrus audio's melee! Your playing is amazing. It's all musical. I'm not a high gain player but I do like to listen and am getting more into it. I'm 4 videos in I subscribed on the first 1 I watched today. Whether you demo the pedal or can or not, you rock bro!🎸 💥
Fractal. Using the mark IV for dirt and ods clean for clean. You can grab the blocks for Free forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/blocks-library-updated-for-2023.187414/
Lost... that's exactly where this pedal purchase is going to take me-lost in the shimmering, intergalactic bliss of cinematic multiverses. Ha! Reality just became optional. 🌌 🤔 😆 Thanks
I'm normally drawn to total filth and I'm far more engaged with what a pedal does to it. Not this one. The sounds coming from the Strat clean tones are truly things of beauty.
What chorus was to the '80s this washed out ambient shimmer/modulated delay and reverb will be to the 2010s/2020s. This pedal embodies it! Delay, in general, is overused on guitar, and now even on keys. IMO 😁
@@LeonTodd no problem with delay but some overuse it too frequently for my tastes. Especially the washed out shimmer sounds, which I think were overused by 2013 or so? I still dig chorus; and envelope filters FWIW, but usually just go direct into my tube amps these days since my gig days are well behind me. I do enjoy wet tones too, with Polychrome DSP and SY-1000, but I dial back my use of the washout/shimmer delays. Cheers!
This pedal was made by an intern at strymon, its not a real strymon pedal. Thats why it sounds so grainy and weird. Not a real strymon pedal. Not designed by pete celi. Its just a sales cash grab. Your playing was great but thats because of you.
What's your favourite Strymon pedal?
El Cap is still number one for me but I also love the Flint and Deco. I'm struggling to resist the temptation to add the Cloudburst 😂
TIMELINE
What a loaded question for me 💥
I always found others do things better, cheaper and with more interesting character 😅
But this one sounds pretty awesome!
@@BobGuido "favourite strymon pedal? Yes"
9:30 one of the most beautiful chords I've ever heard in my life!!
Thanks for demonstrating how killer this reverb is with higher gain tones. It's not just for ambient!
yes!
Instant movie soundtrack (among other benefits/sounds). I love my Cloudburst.
That pedal is EPIC!! I love its versatility and the ambient sounds are out of this universe. Thank you, Leon!!

Definitely the best demo of this I’ve heard. Thanks
Wow, thanks!
Bought one recently.Still wading through all the sounds and textures I can get both acoustic and electric.Amazing pedal.

It's so cool having access to those textures without having to go full synth!
Thank you for playing this with serious dirt! Really wanted to hear that, and it sounds great - mine is on the way.
Glad I could help!
That clean section is UNBLVBLE
Only one I own is the Iridium, more than happy with the effects from the Stomp. I even use HX cabs instead of Iridium IRs now
Thanks, Leon :-) Awesome demo! Cya soon 👍
Thanks again mate!
its like a cross between vai and eric johnsons venus isle tones

00:00 still my favourite Ragdoll song and best intro on youtube.
Thankyou!!!
First review I've heard using distortion with the cloudburst. Great demo as always.
Glad it was helpful!
Great Demo. Cloudburst is one of the coolest pedals I've bought in a while. Works really nice with an Acoustic Guitar too.
OMG that section around 6:10 is unreal. Looks like you surprised yourself with your own awesomeness!

9:12 It's worth thinking about how great this sounds
Great pedal and great demo
Much appreciated!
Thanks Stu. Sounds great. Paging Italo DeAngelis, Leon? Would have loved to hear you dial something on your Lexicon for a comparison.
Just received Cloudburst today along with a Quilter US Superblock 25 watt amp pedal.
Can’t wait to try them out!
That's gonna be great fun!
thnx, not many videos on reverb or delay on overdriven sounds

Yeah it's a great form factor. Stellar tones as always from Strymon.
It definitely bursts my cloud.
The ensemble demo: "Filthy Ambience" Love it! Good name for a preset :)
I still listen to the dirty section of this demo literally every morning with my coffee. Inspirational playing 🔥
I play mainly in the bedroom, but when i originally heard this pedal, had to have one, really like the freeze mode which you need the pedal for.
Thanks Stu! Now I want to play guitar again.

In the case you see this, but don't have a chance to respond - thank you for putting this video together!!
That's coming from one of the Mesa Mark series amps on my Axe-Fx, so anything that's got a lot of gain and control over pre-eq to keep it tight.
Should I get this one over the BigSky?
Get the Cloudburst if you want the particular thing this does, get the Bigsky if you want a great all rounder reverb

Bro, reverb is not necessarily conducive to your overly aggressive and distorted tone.
Tell that to any shoegazer and they’ll laugh in your face.
