I gave 2024 ZR2 with 3.0L DuraMax. 10K and average 22 MPG all around driving. Have done 30+ a couple of times on highway trips, 70-75, no wind, flat terrain. I don’t tow. Average 1 gal DEF per 800 miles. Use 1 quart oil in 5K miles. Plenty of power for me. No issues on anything.
I have the exact same truck, color and all. I do have the spray-in bed liner though. I bought a Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover and it’s working great. Upgraded the reverse lights to LED, which made a huge difference. 12K miles since purchased in July with no issues. Averaging just under 28 MPG (no towing). Love it so far!
I have the exact same truck and absolutely love it. So far probably the most enjoyable and economical vehicle I’ve ever owned. Power is amazing, comfort and quality are great. They nailed it with these.
Nice truck! Having owned 2 of these and 40k miles in 23 months (2023 Silverado LTZ and 2024 Sierra AT4): If you tow, carry DEF. It does weird things with consumption and alerts. Fuel filter: Change it at 12k miles or 3 oil changes if you're around 4000 per change. Performance does suffer. The LTZ got similar MPG, the AT4 with the same tires gets 25-27 MPG. Cruising around Montgomery/Conroe area and the lower speeds, 42MPG was attainable in the non-lifted LTZ. Hotshots Secret worked great as a regular additive. Gonna follow your build!
That’s a good tip on the fuel filter and towing with extra def. This motor has definitely exceeded my expectations so far! Glad to hear you’ve liked yours as well. I’m excited to keep building this one!
I had a 2020 High Country w/ std bed and achieved a best mpg of 34.8. I traded w/ 18k miles due to excessive oil consumption. Traded for a 2021 AT4, same configuration. My best mpg is 36.1 so far. I've found that weather will play a significant role in my mpgs. Best wishes for your truck and your build plans!
I have the same truck. Id recommend to use the Black Emblem overlays. They just fit right on top of the original GMC logo. Dont waste your time plasti-dipping. I just did a 6" Zone lift with 35" Micky Thompsons and 20x10 Fuel wheels. Looks sick and i still get 24mpg with the lift and tires.
I have a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss LT Z71 Midnight Edition with the 3.0l "baby" Duramax, bought it new, it's my daily drivers, and I love it... Of course it needed a couple of upgrades, got rid of the factory ranchos, worst oem shock in history, replaced them with Bilstein 5100's in the rear and Bilstein 6112 struts up front... Tires from the factory were decent, but only load range C, so I went with the goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT's, what a great ride these tires provide, especially for a load range E tire... Certainly not last, but a set of Airlift 5000lb airbags, I tow a travel trailer and they improved the towing "experience" exponentially... Those are the main "upgrades", other things have been done, but they're purely cosmetic, except for the N-Fab rokrails, both aesthetically pleasing and extremely functional... With a hair over 7500mi now(got the truck in May 2024) I have to say it's a fantastic truck, easy to drive, comfortable to drive, and the LZ0 "baby" Duramax is stellar... The 1500, whether it be GMC or Chevrolet is NOT a "mid-size" truck, they ARE full size trucks...
Glad you’re liking the truck man. Get on the dealer and they should fix that gap. And you hit the nail on the head, diesels need to be worked or they’re going to have issues.
Though I like the look of the taller off road AT4, the fuel mileage rating is significantly worse on the at4 vs the regular stance trucks. So I have decided to skip the AT4's on these 3.0 Duramax. I agree the fog lights are dim.
I have a 2024 Elevation I bought a few weeks ago. I agree with the fog lights. I don't like the headlight switch and 4wd switch being next to each other and being the same shape. I put my truck in 4wd accidentally thinking I was turning the headlights on. The shifter confuses me on the daily. I always put it in drive when I try to go to reverse. That is just a muscle memory issue.
Great video. Gotta ask you if you could share your opinion on the backup camera at night? I have a 24 AT4 and I feel like the camera is not very good when it’s dark out. Please let me know. Thank you
I have seen the backup cameras on the new at4s, surprisingly I don’t have the same problem and can use my camera at night without issue. I just have basic halogen reverse lights too
@@Kookaburra4509plenty of aftermarket options, there are a couple of hitch lights - some that mount in or around the trailer hitch that tie to your backup lights. I don’t believe you can swap the bulbs so offroad or aux light backup kits are your friend. I’ll get some here in the next few weeks as well
Sure, I made it a condition of the purchase of the truck. If you purchase it alone it’s probably about $2,500. I got it for a couple hundred dollars installed. It just gets buried in the trade in/purchase price. It is considered “aftermarket” with its own warranty but it comes from a shop called Dealer Source and you would never know it wasn’t OEM. Every dealer will have their own source for leather though
@@jasonstern6499 I’ve noticed the at4 seats are much more firm than the cloth elevation seats. For me the middle ground is getting the cloth seats wrapped in leather. I have no complaints with the seats I have
Yes I am really frustrated. I left my truck last Tuesday at the dealer. They couldn’t find the problem. Does the fourth time they try to fix? I contact gmc I feel like they just ignore me.
Short drives *do not* affect it. That's an internet myth created by folks that have no idea what they are talking about. I have 25k on my 22 LM2 and my drive to work is 2 miles each way. The truck is designed to let you know if it needs a regen and will tell you to keep driving if so. In 25k miles, it has never happened to me...
@@GarminPro Everything I've read says it uses the Denso pump just like it's big brother the 6.6 Duramax. Now you can go crap on ford and Ram since both of them use the CP4.

Need to fix the window!
I was impressed with the fog light but then again my last vehicle was a Honda Pilot and overall the lights on the vehicle sucked.

Please tell me about how to get the leather? Dealer? Looks great.
