I just bought a 2022 1500 Denali Ultimate with the Mini Max Diesel. I upgraded the fuel tank to the Titian Fuel Tank. The top range with all highway driving is 1500 miles on a full tank. I average 1200 to 1450 per tank with city and highway mix.
Like you said, people buy the top of line for the luxury but also for the work aspect of the Carbon Fiber Bed. The features on the Ultimate are second to none. The BEST truck out there on the market.

Great video sir, thank you. Funny about the seats and people’s preferences. A soft seat (for me), feels great for 30 minutes or so. A hard or firm seat (initially may not feel as comfortable), I can drive all day. This goes for motorcycles as well. I 100% agree with width, must be wide enough to support and away from hard plastics. Something manufacturers by now should have down to an art form. Curious to see what others say about this. Thanks again Tim, to the hardest working man…by a longshot, in the truck review game.

I have a 2023 6.2L V8 LTZ Z71 1500. I run 89 most of the time. If I tow, I will use 91-93, but normal driving 89. When I was on a road trip out west, I used 87, but only at elevation 6000+ ft above sea level. If I stay out of the pedal, I can get 24.3 MPG 70-75 MPH in Ohio. 13500 Miles, and it's a beast. There are a lot of reasons super cruise may not work. I’ve been running it since it came out in the Cadillac CT6. In rural areas especially you can briefly lose your cellular data connectivity. Also lighting can affect the sensors at night, the color of the road, moisture in the air, etc. It works the majority of the time amazingly well but you will occasionally find areas where it should work and doesn’t. The computers will not allow it to be used if everything is not in order. When you’re putting your trust in the vehicle to navigate the roads at 70 mph I’d prefer it not take over unless all the conditions are met for it to perform perfectly.

I had a 2015 Denali w/the 6.2 and the (terrible) 8 speed. I used to get 20-22 on highway runs with that too, it was great. Loved that truck, just didn't love the trans. Sold it after 22k miles because of the problems. Agree that trucks are dumb expensive, but those who buy the $90k trucks can afford the premium fuel. If they can't, they shouldn't be buying the 6.2, or the Denali. RE: the seats, I know you don't like 'em, but I just bought a ''24 ZR2 HD and love the seats in it. I do think they are a bit better than the standard ones, but I think they're great and I'm coming from a '19 RAM 1500. Just wish the HDs had SuperCruise!

The 2014+ engines were pretty good until 2022-23 when GM had to switch suppliers because the original DFM lifter manufacturer couldn't keep up with the volumes needed. That's when they had relatively high rate of issues with lifters. People don't consider the fact that GM sells a million vehicles a year with DFM or AFM systems (cylinder deactivation) in them. Even a thousand engines per year that have a lifter fail, (whether due to defect or bad habits by the owner), is really a low rate of lifter failure. There was a youtube channel that toured Exxon Mobil's torture testing lab and at the time they were torture testing a 2015 Silverado 5.3 truck. They put 520,000 miles on that truck with zero AFM lifter issues (they had to rebuild the transmission though). The biggest root cause of cylinder deactivation issues is that the owner doesn't change the oil often enough. Dirty oil clogs up tiny passages and causes wear on the tiny components that make the system work. If the oil is kept clean, the system is reliable. There were a lot of low mileage lifter issues between 2022 and 2023, mostly due to GM's original lifter supplier not being able to keep up with production volumes, so another lifter supplier had to be brought in. There were also issues with the supplier of springs for those lifters that was sending out of spec springs.

@@karlschauff7989DFM is not the same as AFM. AFM shuts down a single bank to go into v4 mode. DFM shuts down different cylinders in different banks. Both systems are junk, AFM/DFM failures have been common since it came out. The 6l80 trans problems are also related to cylinder deactivation. You are right that oil changes are needed to be done more frequently on these engines. Luckily you can rebuild the 5.3 and 6.2 to permanently delete AFM until 2021 I believe being the latest engines so far.

I run only premium in my 2016 f150 with the 2.7L. I mainly road trip it to the black hills anymore. In western Iowa, they are starting to carry 93 octane. Going from 87 to 91, I get about 2 mpg more. 91 to 93, I get almost 2 mpg more. The turbos love it. And 93/91 are the same price. With a 36 gallon tank, that adds a lot of range. Just over a week ago, I went to the hills across 20. I got 23.1 mpg on the way out and 24.4 on the way back. That's on a truck with 131k miles, 3.5" lift, 35" ko2 tires.

    • @quazaar

@@nemesis656 I didn't say I would come out on top. But the difference isn't all that much. I estimate it's about an extra $5 per tank with equivalent distances of 540 miles. And yes it does give more power that I don't care about. But with a 36 gallon, tank, 3-4 mpg better means an extra 108-144 miles per tank . When I do tow my camper 540 miles to the campsite, that gets me there on 1 tank. When I don't tow it, its extra cushion in driving. But I have been known to drive the full 540ish miles from home to the campsite without stopping.

I test drove it twice (wasn’t sure of it the first time so I test drove it the second time w my wife) and I can tell you we both felt the seats on the Denali are not as comfortable as the seats on the F150. The deal beaker for me is the seat comfort and the engine acceleration - it felt heavy, slow pickup, and weaker than my F150 Lariat Powerboost. So I will be trading in my 2023 F150 Lariat Powerboost for the F150 but it will be 2024 F150 Platinum Powerboost. Don’t get me wrong - the Denali is a very nice looking truck inside out. That’s why you let the rich idiots or the well off small business owners buy them first to take the depreciation, then buy after lightly used with 20k or less miles an yeah significantly cheaper. Just picked up a Lzo high country fully loaded minus the multi flex and super cruise, sticker price well over 70 new for less than 55k with around 18k miles. Love the truck!

The Sierra EV Denali is what I plan to purchase. The 6.2L 1500 is getting a particulate filter in the next model year or two. I am done with ICE. It is just getting too pricey to own with premium fuel and now DEF and add engine and transmission cost upkeep and it is just throwing money away over time. I like GMC brand so I am sticking with it, just not with ICE models.

I guess I like accuracy. Calculating by hand will always be more accurate. TFL has showed how optimistic those readings can be. The last Ram with the hurricane was off by 1.7 mpg. The Land Cruiser they just tested was off by 2 mpg. The last 6.2 GMC was off by .9 mpg. When your average is in the teens, 1 mpg is a huge difference. Just my opinion. Super Cruise and Blue Cruise use a low intelligence, low compute approach via premapped routes.
Any vehicle with this low end hardware will quickly be abandoned due to the inability to gather fleet learning and furthermore strong inference is the only feasible way to scale a self driving system.

In a text code, "Section 175" typically refers to a provision within the US Internal Revenue Code that allows farmers to deduct a portion of their soil and water conservation expenditures, up to a limit of 25% of their gross income from farming; essentially, it's a tax deduction for farmers investing in land conservation practices.
    Key points about Section 175:
    Purpose:
To encourage farmers to implement practices that protect soil quality and prevent erosion.
    Deductible expenses:
Expenditures like leveling, grading, terracing, constructing diversion channels, planting windbreaks, etc.
    Limitation:
The deduction is capped at 25% of the farmer's gross income from farming each year.
