- Today I'm teaching you how to do all of the best Item Duplication Glitches in every version of Tears of the Kingdom. This guide covers Item Duplication glitches for 1.0.0, 1.1.0, 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.2.0, and 1.2.1. Maybe one day we'll just get a "duplicate" button in the inventory screen.

Tip dont open the quick menu immediately after jumping

hey for the 1.2.0 monster items you can throw the item in the air and recall it (very useful for dragon parts)
That is exactly what i did in 1.2.0
I just hate Nintendo doing this. But hopefully Nintendo doesn’t update till the dlc comes out so we can get good glitches in the newest patch

Zonaite is probably the worst thing to dupe since you need SO much of it and it's so easy to get anywhere in the depths
Huge tip for the throwing duplication glitch!
When jumping off the ledge let yourself fall a good distance before the first time you hold up on the Dpad. This will make it work 100% of the time. I struggled with the glitch for a long time because I would hold up on the dpad right away when jumping off a ledge but allowing yourself to drop for a good second fixes any problem you might have.
MTD was kind of hit or miss on 1.2.1 for me. The hint to look at Links arm movement really did the trick for me.

I'm on 1.1.1 and the fact that we won't be having a DLC any soon is reassuring because I was a little worried to have to restart a new file but without the best glitch of them all

Took me a couple times before i got it but now i can say with full certainty that this is really cool
What did for the MTD glitch in 1.2.1 was use some boards to make a height that was big enough and aim to let go of R as i reached the middle and spammed Up before tapping X. It ...sorta helps, its just that my stick has the trouble of staying at the item im trying to dupe
Something I was struggling with was duplicating volatile components that explode on impact (elemental dragon parts do this, but not the light dragon parts). If you aim high and use recall after the throw, you can recall the item so that it comes back to you and you can pick up both items.

Decided to finally dump my game and get TotK on Yuzu so I could dupe stuff again (among other reasons) and I couldn't remember the simple dupe method for the life of me! Thank you bro! Good video!

Thank you for this, even tho I'm playing a different game, having a demo video for every patch is so optional.
You can do the midair throw duplication while facing forwards. This makes it possible to dupe fragile things like gleeok horns, bombs, gibdo bones, etc by recalling the thrown item before it lands.
In 1.2.1 It says “Can’t take that out now.”
You can still do it, you just have to make sure to do the glitch like this:
Do not open the menu the first time until link is already falling. Wait till he’s about waist height with the ground he jumped from to get it with near perfect consistency.
After you let go of d-pad up, you only have to open the menu one more time to do the drop and throw dupe, just make sure that after you press x to drop that link hits the ground before he finishes the throw, otherwise it won’t work.
Best place to practice is the lookout landing wall, it’s a pretty good height for working with this and allowing for delayed key presses without too much error.

1.2.1 instructions didn’t explain to also hit X to drop the item… it should be 5 steps, not 4, I think? It took me forever to notice the red arrow pointing at the X button. I was struggling for nearly an hour and then finally got it to work when I started adding the X at the end!

I'm in 1.2.1, and I suck at the throwing glitch, so I tried to do the Device Dispenser thing, but it didn't work. Yet the video says it works in 1.2.1. I wonder if there's any other way to dupe items that we haven't found yet.
Could you possibly do a weapon, bow, and shield dupe through the patches video as well? This is very helpful.

Thankfully haven't updated, thinking about setting up 2-3 save files with some 999 stacks of useful items before updating. (1.1.0)
Ik that tulin pumping was patched but was the glide suit one patched?
The jump duplication glitch still works in 1.2.1 as of 25th January 2024. Just make sure you jump off a place high enough (the horse stable worked for me). If your jump is not high enough, it will always say something like "you can't drop that here". I think the clip shown at 7:12 is old and does not work anymore.

Still on 1.1.1 and just finished duping 999 on all 5 types of Dragon material. I love the Y+B glitch but man it tiresome. Thank goodness I use Minvera to dupe as it’s one less thing to worry about.
Also no DLC makes me glad not to update. Though the update dropped to 1.1.2 while I was playing TOTK and had auto-update so I don’t know if my Switch downloaded and kinda not looking forward to closing the game to find out until I do the dupes I want.

For 1.2.1 people there’s an easier method if you have mineru.
Summon mineru and climb on her back. Then dismiss her in the pause menu and then watch a memory. Skip the memory and swap over the the inventory without unpausing (just press plus after pressing minus to view the memory)
Then hold four of the item you want to duplicate (you can only have four of them in your inventory at a time)
Swap back to a memory (again without unpausing) and skip the memory.
Then just press B
Open the quick inventory and throw the items out on the ground (use recall on exploding items) and then go into your item inventory to hold a random fifth item. Then drop all of what’s in your hand and boom you’ve duplicated your items

For some reason none of the dupes work for me because when i go to drop the item i want to dupe it dissapears from the menu what do i do?
Same was happening to me. You have to recall the items menu after releasing R at the perfect time. Almost immediately after it closes. If the item dissapears you opened the menu to late. Took me a while but you eventually found the wlsweet spot. Also a commenter said in V1.2.1 you don't need to jump backwards. Jumping forward helped me out a ton.

Funny how people are thankful when the devs patch glitches in most games but in Totk, everyone is mad when a glitch gets patched.
Yea that's because they patch all the fun stuff and don't patch actual annoying stuff.
The dupe Glitches are optional and don't hinder gameplay but glitches like the one with the Master Sword loosing the extra durability frome fuse Items is not optional and annoying.

The Dispenser storage gltch does not work. I lost several diamonds. What do you mean by "rotate the fans towards you twice"? I moved the fans in and out the dispener,used the time back, and still no duplication.

I run iff somewhere to get items or a small quest then get distracted by a dungeon. It's been fun, but I put it down a. Few weeks ago... Can someone explain how the 1.2.0 Zonai glitch works? I see what he's doing, but he said he put 30 diamond in and got 30 back. How is that duplication?? Or is it "duplication" because he was able to get 30 diamond worth of Zonai devices for free? I'm confused
It's not duplication, it just bypasses the 21 item limit by having them in the dispenser instead of on the ground.

There actually is a way to dupe weapons shields and bows in 1.2.0, it involves like likes and some other stuff

In 1.2.1 is there a way to duplicate rubies and other items with elemental throw effects?
You can still use the mid-air throw duplication glitch, just recall the thrown item before it touches something
You can also frame perfectly activate a rune just as you throw the item (it is very hard)

That's means you started the process when you’re too far away from the ground, so wait until you're a little lower and then start

I second this. I love the item duplication, but the weapon dup and stats transfer in BOTW was amazing. Especially when I could use wall fixtures in Link's house to hold onto a fresh version of each one to go back in dup again later anytime my weapons did run low

I believe you can roll back only if you are using the physical version of the game. If you have the digital version, it will always download the latest version
For the first 1.2.1 glitch, you only need to open the menu twice. I can't remember exactly what the inputs are, but I'll reply to this comment with it once I hop back on in about an hour

I got you, I’ve perfected this method since I learned about it:
1: Wait until link is falling in the jump before opening the menu the first time, for consistency I wait until he’s about waist height with the ground he jumped from.
2: make sure the fall is short enough so that once you open the menu the second time to drop the item, link will hit the ground before he finishes the throw.
The best place to do this is off the lookout landing wall, it’s high enough up to account for delayed key presses so it’s “practice friendly” but not so much that it will make you mess up the timing on links landing too much.

Forever sad I found out the hard way my auto update was turned on. And since it's a digital copy there is no way for me to reset to 1.1.1. (At least not that I know off.)

Has the 1.2.1 version been fixed? No matter what I do I’m getting the ‘you can’t take that out now’ message. It’s not that I’m not close enough to the ground, I’m almost touching the ground when I try to drop and still get that message

Edit. Figured out the issue, it’s cause I was opening the menu too soon, if you open your menu the first time while still in the process of jumping up it gives that message, had to jump from higher to make sure I’m starting when I’m falling

Apparently you can roll it back without losing data, but I’d find a way to back up your data in a separate device first because it runs risk of corruption for all account data.
