Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is an action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. Actually, when a platinum is THIS tough, you usually see it’s completion rating under 1%. Even down around .5%. The fact that it’s up to 1.8% shows just how much the people who played this game actually love it.
Especially with the video showcases of people doing the brutal challenges either with solos or specific team comps! It shows just how fun this is can be even afterwards and the myriad of strategies anyone can use. Absolutely love a hard mode that still allows diverse methods.

Sephiroth has beaten Nico so many times that Nico had to go to Quadratum and get Sora to beat Sephiroth for him…..
He even did it on the first try to.

It is the final battle of the third game. Sephiroth starts to transform into his final form. Feeling hungry, you leave to preheat the oven and prepare a meal. Sephiroth's monologue about the meteor, stars, and reunion is a podcast you listen to while baking. By the time your food is prepared, the cutscene is just barely finishing. But you can still eat your meal before it gets cold. Each of Sephiroth's big attacks are actually two minute cutscenes with limited control of your characters, so you can still take a bite without missing anything. When you finish this phase of the fight, you actually spent more time eating than holding the controller. Then Sephiroth says "I am finished warming up" and quickly kills you.
Ngl was kind of worried about the radio silence but it seems Nico was just being tortured alive by Sephiroth.

Oh my god, you go SO lucky against Odin in Bonds of Friendship! Both times he used Spatial Distortion, he left both you and Zack on the non-fuc*ed side of the wall. Beating him first try you got there? He’s the main reason people finally give up.
FF7 Rebirth Hard Mode is even harder than Shadow Of The Erdtree
This probably wasn’t intentional, but the fire sparks on the thumbnail makes it look like the Black Materia is on Cloud’s Buster Sword. That was probably just a coincidence, but something I found to be funny and ironic.

Nico, I know many of us were seriously debating whether to discourage you from trying to platinum this game like you did Remake. Because, as you’ve now learned, they really are two different beasts. But then we pulled on our fingerless gloves and held our tongues as we waited for the lightning bolts of hubris to strike.

I'm not sure it would be a great stream since it would very repetitive and Nico just being miserable for hours on end, although the chat interaction might help lift him up
As your talking about the 2 min cut sense mid fight I also recall you missed out on the Riku cut sense back in the PS2 kingdom hearts so basically You still have felt our pain I have never felt closer to you XD

Wow, these fights are really difficult, but I am glad that you beat it and got the price and complete Johnny´s trophy collection. The reward in his treasure chest was a nice surprise and it is cool that you can play "One Winged Angel" on the piano now. It sounds fantastic. ^^

It really makes you think, how many hard modes in games are actually difficult? Not enough I say. This game hard mode is one of the few that gets actually harder and harder as it goes on no matter how much you level up.
I wish the hard mode on this game was actually difficult. It’s only the VR missions that seem to be challenging.
The fact that there are players out there doing no materia, single character, no damage runs in this game is silly.
I guess that makes it cool that there is a skill component to it, but still…it’s really just the challenges that are hard.
I’d love to actually find the main bosses difficult. I think the only one I found tough was that stone golem thing you face with Barret and Red.
Now that Rebirth is done (and hot damn I'm sure you are glad that Hard mode is finished), imma drop my suggestion for one of the next two LPs. Tsukihime finally got an English release this past week, and considering your jump into the Nasuverse a few months back with Fate/Samurai Remnant, I think it would be a great way to jump into the VN side of the franchise. It's very standalone and doesn't require any pre-existing knowledge of anything Fate or Nasuverse related to enjoy it, so I think it would make for a great time to go through. It's also not as long as Fate/stay night, so maybe it would be a better option to ease into the VNs.

I do hope you do the postgame for Part 3 when it comes out, but take your time with that one. Like in your spare time between recording sessions for other LPs after finishing that game, you work on that Hard Mode and then when you feel like there’s something you want to show off, you record it

So Nico, there is a bright side to this coming out later than expected.
The official English release for the Tsukihime Remake (A Piece of Blue Glass Moon) has released after 3 years of staying in Japan.
It is a remake and rewriting of the two most popular Tsukihime Routes, and comes out to about 40 hours. It is written by the original writer of Fate Stay Night, Kinoko Nasu and is considered by some to be even better.
I think TsukiRemake would be a Fantastic way to dip your toes into the Type Moon Visual Novel space, without dedicating yourself to the 100 hour behemoth of Fate Stay Night (which would also be a fantastic LP.)
(Sidenote: Tsukihime is not in the same universe as Fate, though it does have alot of similarites. I can get into specifics if you play it lol.)

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to beat Hard Mode Nico! This LP was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see what Part 3 has in store for us! Hopefully next time, the Hard Mode dials it back a bit and/or you take your time with it on stream or off screen! Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see what the next two LPs are!
Fun fact, I love action games. I platninum'd DMC5 and that is a pretty notoriously hard one.
I managed to beat hard mode pretty simply similarly all the way up until the last chapter gauntlet where I handled them on the second try.
Zacks final challenge fucking brutalized me simply because Zack is not Clouds equal, he's mega nerfed until I learned that High braver is actually the only good thing he has, and goddamn the damage.
I beat VR sephiroth & the last duo mission with Zack after about 20 attempts, I kept count for the final Zack. At that point i got the trophy for all the missions, but technically I had not done the final 2 training missions for cloud & Zack so i decided to knock them out before going to claim Johnny's reward.
Tell me why when loading up Sephiroths after finishing Zack's, my game super bugged out and I was stuck in an endless VR void as sephiroth where he could only walk forward and was forced to close the game.
The game does not autosave after VR missions, so despite having the trophy I was UNABLE claim Johnny's reward UNTIL I DID IT AGAIN AHAHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Edit: I also did not bother maxing Materia because i hate monotonous grinding & would much ratther slam my head into a wall, I felt so much pain so maybe for Part 3 I'll try it.

Now that we have the rare opportunity of two new LPs at once, I wanted to share some suggestions I think would be a lot of fun! Starting Mario & Luigi Super Star Saga would be fun and it’s a good time given a brand new game was announced recently! Super Paper Mario would be fun as well. Tsukihime Remake just came out and it’s a VN from the Type-Moon Devs who did FSN if you wanted to get a taste of how FSN will be. Jojo Part 4 or returning to HxH would be fun too, though you might hold off on Reaction Abridges until you need something timed for a Day 1 LP like Metaphor. Yakuza 5 would be a lot of fun, though probably not right away given we just finished two long LPs. No matter what you decide to do, I’m sure it will be a fun time! Keep up the great work Nico and I’m looking forward to the next brand new Let’s Plays!

Okay, I know this is a late comment and might not get seen but I need to comment this while my goldfish memory isn't playing up.
Thank you so much for doing this series and many others. I don't have a Playstation 5, or an Xbox, and not much is on these consoles to incentive me to buy them. So, you doing all these videos and making them more accessible is absolutely wonderful.
But what draws me to watch all these videos isn't the content of them, it is you. I rediscovered you after going through my subscriptions and making my way through all that content I was interested in watching. I saw your Paranormasight playthrough/playlist and thought to myself 'Sure, let's start there.'
My goodness, I missed your videos. The silly sense of humour, the care for the videogames you have, how you make genres I'm not interested in playing like horror and action tolerable as well as fun to watch, and the Completionism that you do. I'm so happy I've refound you and I've been keeping up to date with your stuff ever since.
Keep it up, Nico! And if you ever need a break, take it. I personally think you need it after the hell that is FF7 Rebirth and She Who Shall Not Be Named (I mean Elisabeth).

Since this is technically a new finale, and it's been a bit since the proper story finale for the game, I'll just restate my recommendations for the next LPs: Trails in the Sky, it would be a good time to jump on it with the newest entry coming out this week. To The Moon minisodes, A Bird Story and Finding Paradise, would always be nice to see a return to it, especially since it seems like the series is ending this year.

Part 4 jojo and professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is super good! You’d love the puzzles and the plot so much.
I overall really enjoyed my time platinuming the game. I knocked out the fights gradually over multiple weeks while playing other games. Really was actually pretty pleasant.
One really small thing that i want corrected in addition to adding materia loadouts. Let the player change their materia IN the combat simulator. This is such a tiny thing, but the amount of times that you need to make micro adjustments in between fights really annoyed me and made the process of dying and retrying more obnoxious than it needed to be

I remember when Nico saying at the start of Rebirth the combat system was a little easy, and then seeing comments snickering that he will change his tune once he gets to hard mode. Happy to see they were proven right.
Nico is we warned you about Red Dragon in hard mode after you beat it before.
Because of my insane addiction to this game at launch and my undeniable hunger to get the platinum done, i got the platinum before the brummal form strat came out 😩😩 the many of hours of pain this strat would have saved me just hurts to know in hindsight 😅 welcome to the club tho bro the pain is worth the satisfaction garnered at the end of the gauntlet 🏆

I used guide for plenty of the fights at the end (mostly the crazy Chadley fights). You don't realize at first how important MP and HP absorb are until you're hitting for crazy damage with genji glove and have infinite HP and MP because of it. Shit was brutal.

Nico: this was worth it. Thank you so much for this video, even though it took 75 hours of pain. I knew I wouldn't be able to go through hard mode myself because I do not have the time, energy, or most importantly, the willpower and skill to get through it. I tried doing Remake's hard mode and got walled by the damn junkyard dog. I know other's have probably already done videos showing what content is in hard mode (and honestly the Johnny scene and OWA sheet music, while very cute, wouldn't be worth doing for me), but seeing you in particular grind through it is a treat because I know how much you love this game, even with some faults like how hard mode and some of the challenge fights were done. Take a well deserved rest, and we'll see you when you are ready for the next LP.

after reading the trophy list for remake and rebirth and experiencing a bit of what the full task required i knew these were plats i'd have no drive or desire to torture myself for. actually seeing it in motion and hearing everything you've said about it is like yea. absolutely not worth it to me.
i've got some hard plats and completions in the past, for me beating Lingering Will in KH2, Yozora and the Pro Code Merit Trophy from KH3 were the ones i'm very proud of myself to have gotten. and i'm satisfied with that but seriously nico, amazing that you've got the plat for both these games
What’s harder this or Elden ring dlc?
I’ve been putting off hard mode cause I know for a fact it is going to be far more difficult than remake.
In all seriousness, finishing a gauntlet of fights in one go and if you fail - start from beginning, is an absolute evil. This should not be a thing in this day and age, especially with how unforgiving hard mode is. You can even lock all equipment and materia until you finish and if you back out, then you have to start from beginning, but for the love of all good in the world, let people continue from exact round you failed.

I'm torn. I'm glad Nico managed to win, but cheesing both Gilgamesh and Sephiroth that quickly in Ruler of the Outer Worlds without trying his own builds first is a little sad. I can't really blame him though with the already extra 70 hours.
Nah, man. It was hilarious 😂😂😂😂. I did the same thing and I was laughing my ass off seeing how almost none of the bosses (except for VR Sephiroth) were able to respond to that strategy 😂😂

FF7 Rebirth hard mode is the exact example on how NOT to do a hard mode. It’s only hard cause they take away core mechanics of the game.
No it doesn’t. The only thing it removes is items, which doesn’t even matter because you can use Materia to make up for the fact that you can’t use them.

Congratulations Nico. Rebirth isn't perfect but it's an amazing game and I'm glad to have played it like you did, even completing it 100% (with 193 hours of playtime). I personally give it a score of 93/100 and I can't wait to see how the final part of this trilogy will end.
I’m at 80% of trying to platinum this game and I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it. The mini games on hard are frustrating and the hard mode boss just slap you back to earth saying “NOT TODAY SATAN!!”
I’m DREADING Charley’s challenges and certain mini games because I’m not as hard core and pro as some gamers……… you don’t know how many times I did 3D Brawler Seph until I FINALLY got him!

I don’t know whether it was recommended by anyone, but these games swiftly gain popularity in the West, and for a good reason - they’re great! On July 5th a new Trails arc comes out - Trails through Daybreak, which will be a great new entry in the series. I think you’ll have a good time with it

You have my mad respect for going through Hard Mode and Platinum-ing this game, but even if you didn't, this entire journey was an absolute FEAST. I can't stop thinking about this game, and I'm even going through and re-watching your Remake playthrough. Playing OG as well. I dunno how I'm gonna temper my excitement for Part 3, ughhh here's to another 4 years of playing the waiting game. But anyway, much love!! For all the talk lately about gaming difficulty... I've cleared all the bosses in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC and I still don't want to go back to Rebirth's hard mode to finish it.

I used a guide for damn near every challenge and I don't feel any type of way about it. If you put a shit ton of time into this thing to get the equipment you need to make those builds work you deserve a helping hand. It's not like they make them tons easier, it still might take a couple hours🤷🏻♂️

You're crazy for doing it around 215 hours!!! I started trying hard mode last week and I'm clocking in 220 hours without my materia maxed out since I'm still replaying everything to get all the conversations and stuff. Hard Mode is a beast.
