Granted it was still bad just useable
Had a 23ML on my tail in the 104S ASA at altitude and speed with a decent gap; last ditch made a 90 degree turn to bleed his speed, then pulled vertical. managed to stall him out after flaring his missiles and gun him down after rolling over. truly a cathartic experience
That is my favored military aircraft because my grandfather on my mother side flew the CF-104 for the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) during the mid 1960's. He and his family was station out of Baden-Soellingen, Germany with the No. 422 Squadron RCAF as a NATO nuclear strike force. He received a medal ten years ago for his service to NATO. He still has his outfit with the foot cramps its very very cool. Also, he still fits in it he is 83 years old. He loves that plane all the family calls his plane when we talked about it. It was a incredible aircraft if I ever have a chance to flew it I will in a second.

The F-104A and C variants are honestly pretty fun to fly right now with the BR going down to 9.3. I get downtiered to like 8.3-8.7 80% of the time and as you can imagine running against planes like the F-86, F-84, the early migs etc. this is a pretty good boom and zoom fighter, only thing that can give you grief is the Mig-19's because while they cannot really catch up, if one decides to stick on you forever, he cancels you out for the entire game and it sucks
I only go against su25s and a10s in the f104c 😭
And the mig 21s are a pain
I'm a big fan of F-104J and G
They are actually really easy to learn, easy to fly and kind of relaxing
And as you say the new Match maker makes them even better!
I wish the J had flares tho 😭

My only issue with this new decompression is that they bumped up a fair amount of jets to higher BR's. Yet the MIG-23ML and MLD get left at 11.3 and I believe they both belong at the same spot as the F-4EJ Kai. The main reason is they can still face 10.3 jets the majority of which don't have flares or chaff. There's my little ted talk on the new decompression which other then what I stated has helped out a lot.

I have both the MLA and EJ Kai,and in my limited experience MLA are a bit better in a real game and way better in 1 v 1,way more forgiving to fly due to it being very fast and can actually turn in less than 3 business days
So I don't see the reason of it been left at 11.3
Yesterday I got crit by a 104 in a headon. I was in the viggen, he nipped half of my controlsurfaces in the head on but I still ended up killing him after the weirdest turn fight ever. Goes to show a lot about the 104 I think.
Would the Starfighter have been better of by getting your shot up Viggen into low speed?
@@martijn9568 well we were on high alt. 6km and he became pretty slow as well, I was around 550kph and almost stalling my gun connected guided by Olof Palme himself.
@@martijn9568 also I think my engine power and afterburner low fuel state made that even possible. I Was in the vertical a lot I Remember.

F-104G is one of the few planes I actually have good stats in, 60% win rate 3+ k/d.
The A/C variants are decent so long as you dont get uptiered into 9G or 9L missiles, very common sadly. they can outrun or dodge most 9B and 9E, and the speed/acceleration actually makes a difference down at 9.3.

Great to see a video on my favourite plane! Bringing back the memory before it was lifted to 10.7. It was fairly easy to score half a dozen kills back then.

I know the guy from 6:27 MapleWolf34 and he told me he is for a long time no more in PHAP, he changed to "FurEZ" somewhere in september 2022. So that must be real old footage. But I understand school can really EAT your freetime. It's like Nikado Avocado and your freetime is 25,000 calories of fries and burgers.
Haven't tried this one after the BR changes, but the F4F feels much better now that I don't have to deal with a horde of F-14s every game...
I'm considering grinding it, is it worth it now at 10.7?

F-104 A/C are absolutely disgusting now. AIM-9Bs feel great when half the planes you're fighting are still climbing at 500km/h.
As for the F-4F it's so enjoyable. I didn't really think it'd ever be playable, and now it's actually good. Crazy to think that a .3 BR change can make or break a plane.

The F-104G was a lot of fun, I got it when the A-10 just got into the game and I had a lot of fun going to space and raining down hell on all those A-10's
And with the F-4F video I want to hear your honest thoughts about Gaijin's decision to put it at 10.7 instead of giving it 9L's (which they are stubbornly and openly refusing to give). Cause I do think that it now being 10.7 is nice and makes it a lot less stressful to play, because it was by far the worst plane at 11.0

My grandfather flew dissimilar training in his F-double oh against 104s and said in a head on or when retreating the profile of the star fighter became invisible. Relevance to realistic: approximately zero.
What I found with the F104G is that you get to 10km up and then just dive on anyone you see then go back up at a 60-degree angle. Sure some planes are faster than you but I found that they can not climb as much as you can.

Defyn dies sometimes. I presume that he has a survival rate of about 85% what is amazing enough when I consider that for me personally 60% is what I like to have. It would be interesting to see a video of his death flights and hear his comments what he did wrong. I learned a lot of his videos because he comments very good but to see a video of his failures would be very interesting especially in props.

The F-104A is only doable if you are flying the US one so you don't face Aim9L shtfest A10s and A6Es all day though there is still the Su-25K

the f104a i find to be quite fun, and with it now being 9.3, its more than capable, then again i havent touched the other f104's so i cant say for sure, yes the aim 9b's are shite, i get some kills but its just opportunist

Play the 104A or C now it's at 9.3, downtiers in them are some of the most broken rounds I've ever played - 7, 8 kills commonly it's crazy

what belt do you use for Vulcan? I always leave people crit with irrelevant damage with armored targets and air targets
I personally stuck with default one, my first Vulcan gun was on F14 and it felt quite alright

I must say, I just started flying the 104G and am struggling with it. Its not at all how I like to fly. It just seems to be a lawn dart. Worse I am having no luck with the matchmaker either you MLDs and MLAs are all over.
