“IM LOST” someone give this guy an Emmy for best actor💀
That bit always makes me laugh 😃😄😀😁
Legit though, it was so well-acted!
It is well acted and amusing but unrealistic. Ants use pheromones and their feelers to guide them, not visual cues.
Still a funny clip
EDIT: Twig of 93? Sounds like a death situation unlike a leaf would cause.. dark joke
that's how I feel everyday
Fun fact, the editor of this movie (and the director of Toy Story 3 and Coco) voices the character
Always found it funny how Flik created a tool that sped up harvest rate and production but they still made him get rid of it lol
After Hopper's demise you can see Thorny and the other ants using the harvesters. So in the end they would've owed it to Flik for the invention.
It's b/c they got their mindset & lives into their 'tradition' that they never thought of building a better life for themselves.
Yep. That's how it is in real life. Most people fear change/the unfamiliar. So, they reject it altogether. Even if it makes things easier/better for them.
It's less about being stuck in tradition and more like, "If this doesn't do what you say it does, you're going to kill us all!"
Innovation means lots of failure, and you can't afford failure when you're slaves or barely having any excess.
they're also a bit stressed out since they nearing the end of the harvest and the other bugs are coming soon. Also, judging by other reactions and how princess Atta received a huge twig in the face just now, we can assume that Flik invention don't always or never work right.
The “I’M LOST!” gets me every time!🐜🍃🤣
Me in math 😅😂
Where's the line?
Me too.
Dont bite me
@@kennyng327Uh, I was not going to.
For being Pixar's second feature length film, it's actually pretty incredible how well the quality of the 3D holds up. They went for a deliberately caricatured approach to avoid the "ick" factor that the human characters had in Toy Story.
As an aside Roddy McDowell's portrayal of Mr. Soil is wonderfully comedic. Having worked in IT tech support, I understand the frustration of such a job, and coming back to this film as an adult, his role hits home all the more.

I admire ants as they do have good teamwork skills and are not lazy.
Yeah ants really do this in real life. This whole movie is kinda based on a story with ants and a grasshopper walks by and asks why they are working and the ant replies to gather food. But the lazy grasshopper suggest they just play and stop working. When winter comes the grasshopper has no food and asks the ants for some but they refused.
@@amazingtrooper5893 Ah, yes that would be Aesop's the ants and the grasshopper story, moral:we should all make plans for the future. Although I have heard a version where the grasshopper begs for food and shelter and the ant is so good hearted and he feels bad for the grasshopper so he lets him in and shares his food with him, during his stay with the ant, the grasshopper learns that he should plan ahead so when next summer rolls around, he still sings but while he sings, he works and the other grasshoppers watch him and say "what are you doing grasshopper? come and leap around with us" and Grasshopper shakes his head as he knows better now, he also learns that in the silly symphonies cartoons.
@@amazingtrooper5893 u missed the joke from your family :/
Actually none of that happens here...
Queens are lazy.
This is a REALLY good movie. I watched it for the first time in a long time on tonight. Hayden's character is SO cute. I had forgot about her character.
Poor princess Atta. No princess like her deserves to go through a lot of unbearable stress that takes her peace away to the point where it becomes such a burden. Her peace was deprived at the hands of that evil grasshopper who craves hatred, food and power.
Also another thing, I can relate to Dot’s problem of being the youngest sibling. Because I’m the youngest sister of my four older brothers myself. Being the youngest sucks. And it’s not what it’s cracked up to be. It can lower your self esteem.
I'm the youngest of 6 (three sisters and two brothers plus myself) and I deeply agree with that statement
Flik may be just a bit of a crackpot on the outside, but inside, he's a genius.
And he means well and just wants to play his part
He’s the forerunner to Mr Crocker.

That animation was incredible for 1998, it was like a glimpse into the future of 3d animation
It was actually quite big step up from original Toy Story. Granted original TS was the pioneer of fully 3D animated movies, but its age shows much more than Bug's Life. Granted Bug's Life by modern standards lacks quite lot in detail, but again compared to Toy Story it was big leap forward
Precisely my thinking.
Tbh it’s still looks amazing
Well it was computer animated and they had the experience from toy story which was the first full length computer animated film

Flick had every right to be a villian for being treated unfairly.

Did you know that princess atta secretly loves flik this whole entire time? There are signs that proves this:
1: Atta LOVES his inventions! It wasnt shown this. But there are signs that proves this:
1A: when the bugs were being chased by a bird, she also made a telescope. she was impressed when he made it himself.
2: she is very apologetic when it comes to flik. Even she thought she was mean to him. She was basically showing him a way to get rid of gasshoppers this whole entirely time even she didnt want to admit it. Even she regretted it, she is happy that she did.
I watched this movie so many times i nearly wore the VHS tape out. I think i almost memorized the entire thing word for word lol

In real life, ants eat grasshoppers.

How are they going to make a sequel, Hopper’s dead
@@diegofavaratozfilms962 they can make a new villain plus it would not be a good thing to bring back hopper because Kevin Spacey got into some controversy this is my idea for a bug’s life 2 villain have the villain be a hornet queen plus pixar sequels don’t bring back the villain from the first movie so it’s basically given if they make a bug’s life 2 it’s not gonna be the same villain it’s gonna be a different villain
Movies like *A Bug's Life* don't need a sequel.
This is an adaption of the famous fable of *The Ant and the Grasshopper* where the grasshoppers are depicted as the mafia and gangsters who demand 3/4 tribute of things that rightfully belong to the ants while the ants are depicted as being stupid to the point of being in debt and near-exhaustion (or near-bankrupt) of their resources via forceful squandering until they learned the hard way that their numbers were far greater than the grasshoppers to begin with and they could fight back against their oppression.

I wonder what the ants have against flik anyway. He's a sweet guy.
In the past Flik has caused a lot of trouble but not intentionally. In the court some of them have been mentioned. Flik's inventions are genius but some of them have caused accidents, like when the machine accidently knocks down all the food for grasshoppers into the water.
That's what makes Flik so relatable. I think there are some individuals who never had intention to cause trouble or unpleasant situations to some people, they wanted to make differences from the past/history with their talent and change the people's minds but it's mostly out of reach for examples: they're not interested, they don't like the person's ideas and don't appreciate it at all. But some can't give up to make differences.
@@finlandguy427 Its the ants fault for putting the food on a leaf and placing it on an alter right next to a cliff. They should've just put in front of their colony where it could've been safe even if it fell over. Plus it would decrease the distance each ant had to travel to pick and place food on it. This would in turn make the job more easier and faster.

I love how the queen carries an aphid around the way a human queen might carry a lapdog. In real life, ants do look after greenfly.
Yeah they do. That's why famers and gardeners aren't too keen on ants. They hate them due to the fact that they protect aphids from the famers and gardeners friends, the ladybugs and let them destroy their plants in return for honeydew. Not good! For the famers and gardeners that is.
4:37 get rid of that machine get back in line and pick grain like everybody else!
I love Gypsy, Dot, Atta, Rosie, the Queen, and the Blueberries in this film, it's when Atta blindly chooses punishment over pardon and her stress zone I hate.
It makes for a believable character in my opinion. As shown with the leaf skit, the ant colony doesn’t think very highly of itself, hence why they let Hopper step all over them. It’s only thanks to Flik’s self discovery that they too discover their worth, which helps Atta to overcome her own stresses over becoming queen. It makes for a good character arc.
I didn’t notice till now that Princess Atta is actually voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus who played Elaine on Seinfeld. So interesting cause I started watching that show not so long ago for the first time on Netflix and I watched this film before I even watched Seinfeld. ❤
This should be make a sequel or part 2

Yes, mother?
What did I tell you about trying to fly?
Not until my wings grow in.
Right.
Dot: But, mom. Cinderella: Dot, you're a young queen ant. Terri Perry: And you're wings are too little.
I don’t know if anyone else was thinking of this so, here we go: It always felt like that Dot and Atta weren’t SISTERS; In fact, I always felt like they were written to be MOTHER and DAUGHTER; kinda like what they did with LILO and her older sister from “Lilo and Stitch”. Though, know that I think about it, They probably *DID* write Dot and Atta as MOTHER and DAUGHTER but scraped it at the last minute and just went with them being SISTERS. Also, know that I’m getting this all out in the open, I would rather by that FLIK and ATTA are more like BROTHER and SISTER than them being in love with each other. In fact, I can *PROVE* that they originally wrote them as SIBLINGS by the scene where after the part where Dot is seen hanging on to the little Dandelion, Atta actually goes to her mother and says “Mother, Flik is up to something.” Like any kid would be snitching off their siblings to their parent(s). I mean what the hell kind of *COUPLE* would just go up to their Mother or Father, and just blatantly tell their Love Interest off like that? Is that weird or what?
"I mean what the hell kind of COUPLE would just go up to their Mother or Father, and just blatantly tell their Love Interest off like that? Is that weird or what?" They weren't a couple back then and he wasn't her love interest yet. But it's an interesting take on that scene.
