For the part of Hopper, the film's villain, Lasseter's top choice was Robert De Niro, who repeatedly turned the part down, as did a succession of other actors. Kevin Spacey met John Lasseter at the 1995 Academy Awards and Lasseter asked Spacey if he would be interested in doing the voice of Hopper. Spacey was delighted and signed on immediately.

Wonjae Yi, your joking, right? Look at it this way, how long did it take for Disney to make sequels to some of their movies like: “the Jungle Book”, “Cinderella”, “Mary Poppins”, or “Fantasia”?, probably like 3, 4, 5, or maybe even 6 decades for each, right? Now look at this, how long did it take for Pixar to make sequels to some of their movies like: “The Incredibles”, “Finding Nemo”, or “Cars”, almost 2 decades for each, right? So, don’t you think that they might even be working on a sequel to “A Bug’s Life” even as we speak?
It seriously is heartbreaking to see all that hard work and time people put into a film only for it to be completely thrown out near the end because studio executives lost faith in it. I can't imagine how frustrating that is.
"First rule of leadership: Everything is your fault." I relate to that line because i know some Disney characters who have leadership but they made things worse because it's their own fault. like Kuzco, Joy, King Triton and Woody
Pixar is great when it comes to having villains voice their villains. Stinky Pete is voiced by Sideshow Bob, Chick Hicks is voiced by Betelgeuse, and Hopper is voiced by Kevin Spacey.
Hopper has the best villain dialogue out of all the movie villains even though he is so ruthless and violent, including his short temper for instance, when Molt (Hopper's brother) gets annoying.

Two of my favourite villains in kids movies are hopper and madame gasket from robots because they display smart villains in a way for kids to understand bullying and how bullies divide. Both of the two are autocrats who actively follow the rule of maintaining their status quo through fear and submission of their opponents and fully understand the power of one. Both of these villains understood the problems of flick and Rodney. If one rises and shows strength then eventually others rise up with him. And both have a scene in which they have to explain why it’s needed to stop this from happening. I like how hopper focuses on how it isn’t the food as I like to believe really if they terrorized the ants and flick didn’t stand up they wouldn’t have demanded more food and would have gone with the “mericful dictator” and gave them a warning or something but because flick stood up hopper knew that he needed to enforce demands. Both are such human villains yet ones an insect and the other is a robot.

Hopper scared me when I was a little kid… and till this day I’m still scared of him!
Edit: I was not expecting this many likes 0_0
He's a lot scarier given what we know about Kevin Spacey now.
Hopper wasn't that scary
I seen this movie many times and he never scared me as a kid
The only thing that scares me as a Kid was Thumper and Hopper's death
@@Chalastor146 Thumper scared me too, and yes! Hopper’s death made me have nightmares for days!

"First rule of leadership - everything is your fault" damn this movie is packed with knowledge
Kevin Spacey did a really good job playing Hopper.
Hopper is the most underrated Pixar villain.
Remember my dad bought this for us on VHS when me and my siblings were really little loved it thankfully own most of these movies on Amazon and Disney plus ❤❤😊
Are you saying I’m stupid?
Yes! XD
I’m sorry. I can’t unsee that blooper
It’s just too funny XD
I cannot tell you how much I LOVE Hopper as a villain. They took the story of Aesop's Ants and the Grasshopper and made it relevant as heck in a time where freedoms are being taken right and left from people who want to trade your independence for false security.
This is even better than I remember 😂😂 *AHH REMEMBER MA!!!*
This movie has always been in my top tier as a young man.

I was never actually afraid of Hopper, but his first appearance terrified me as a child
I would’ve loved a sequel, but I guess it’s too late for that
Says who?
A Bug’s Life doesn’t need a sequel
It's never to late
Better late than never
Incredibles came out in 2004 and got a sequel in 2018 I don't see why this can't get one

Molt: AH! REMEMBER MA!
Hopper: *knockes down some random grasshopper instead*
.....
Hopper:.... heeey, I'm a compassionate insect...😇
Me: whAt?!
Mom: “You should play with the neighbor’s kid.”
The Neighbor’s Kid: 2:55
It seriously is heartbreaking to see all that hard work and time people put into a film only for it to be completely thrown out near the end because studio executives lost faith in it. I can't imagine how frustrating that is.
What are you even talking about?
this represents that one kid that comes to recess embracing his dominance over the playground when everyone is just trying to have a good time.
Molt is always born to be funny in the Bug's Life movie.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"First rule of leadership: Everything is your fault."
I relate to that line because i know some Disney characters who have leadership but they made things worse because it's their own fault. like Kuzco, Joy, King Triton and Woody
Kevin Spacey is insanely good at playing villains.
Still can't believe this movie was made in 1998 the animations are amazing
Hopper and his Bro are like the Hodgetwins as Grasshoppers 😂😂
Pixar is great when it comes to having villains voice their villains.
Stinky Pete is voiced by Sideshow Bob, Chick Hicks is voiced by Betelgeuse, and Hopper is voiced by Kevin Spacey.
Hopper has the best villain dialogue out of all the movie villains even though he is so ruthless and violent, including his short temper for instance, when Molt (Hopper's brother) gets annoying.
Meanwhile in The Wizard of Oz:
Wicked Witch: They’re gone!
Dorothy: Aren’t they right there?
Wicked Witch: What?
Dorothy: The ruby slippers were right...
Wicked Witch: Excuse me?
Dorothy: Are you sure they’re not over there?
Wicked Witch: Are you saying I’m stupid?
Dorothy: No.
Wicked Witch: Do I look stupid to you? Let’s just think about this for a second. If they were over there, would I be coming over here, to your personal space, looking for them?
Seeing this as an adult. It is slightly obvious Hopper is intimidating them into fearing him, especially after punching that random grasshopper where he almost broke character.
It’s amazing to me how Hopper is Pixar’s second villain ever
There are live action movies with villains that aren’t as menacing

_"You let one ant stand up then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants outnumber us a hundred to one; and if they ever figure that out, there goes our way of LIFE! It's not about food. It's about keeping those ants in line!"_
Thumper’s sound design is what really scared me as a kid- like goddamn those screeches.. 0_0
