What I really loved about this show was how it took us to so many wonderful places and showed so many wonderful aspects of British life including Gurkhas and nuns lumberjacks and lock keepers ..beer makers and barristers And that beautiful final scene in the Cambridge rowers episode as they float along the river against a gently setting English sunset ..Great memories , great ladies ...
What a gorgeous fishing spot. Clarissa was quite smitten by the handsome fisherman. I love these two ladies. I can't think of any cooking show I like better than theirs. I love Julia Child, and she could be quite funny, too.
really classy ? just because they are upper middle class ?because i am sure they would have told you like me , private school can not make you a lady if you do not want it to, they lived disgracefully most of their lives and enjoyed every second , they had sweet natures, but by no means ladies so no not classy , just great fun
21:15 Clarissa: "just call me Rome, dear Nero..." Jennifer: "Wee! I'm Matilda!" LOL These ladies were unparalleled in their wit and humour. I am just thankful to God that we have them on video!
I love when they talk about the “pope’s nose”, and Jennifer says it was probably meant to be rude or heretical or something, and Clarissa says, oh I know that it’s rude, I was just wondering what brand of rude it was! That made me chuckle!😆
I used to use ordinary butter with fish but I must say"Burre Blanc" beat it all as a butter sauce. Miss the two fat ladies along with their cooking, songs and "ditties".
Watched these ladies for years they can be funny and serious.. they sure know how to cook. They are so cute how they get around with one in the side car. Wish they could cook for me they are so good at it....this is amazing show with 2 ladies showing us how to put it together to cook and come out will it looks good..
My favorite was when Jennifer tried to kiss the ring of the Irish abbess and the abbess told her that her that all those things were part of the past and Jennifer responded “Not with ME it hasn’t!!!” I could have kissed her !
I would watch them make fillet of sole using a boot lol When Jennifer started singing the Lumberjack song by Monty Python ... hysterical. For me, it's not so much what they cook or bake but that it's THEM doing it. Loved it !!!
That's not a croft- that's luxury! Love these old gals, thumbing their noses at PC nonsense. Live life, enjoy yourself, try not to hurt others. Should others take offence, their problem. Oh, and more butter.
RE salt baking. If you mix the salt with egg white (albumen) then it helps to mould it around the fish or anything else you want to salt bake. It helps cracking it open when it's cooked too.
Sooo good to see this again. Thank you! And Jennifer, you were absolutely correct....both my Grandad and his sister had all their teeth taken out then dentures fitted for their 21st birthdays! Seems madness nowadays!
What a gorgeous fishing spot. Clarissa was quite smitten by the hunky fisherman. I love these two ladies. I can't think of any cooking show I like better than theirs. I love Julia Child, and she could be quite funny, too.
It is wonderful to see Jennifer & Clarissa's uncensored personalties on display. Especially when Jennifer happily wanders off-topic...and the next thing you know she's belting out a song. British treasures, the both of them.
I would have loved to have spent a day with Jennifer and Clarissa. I guarantee it would have been an unforgettable time. I loved listening to their stories... so intriguing. RIP "Two Amazing Ladies"❤
My brother and our old family dog met Clarissa at a shooting event she was apparently hilarious and charming I never have had an interest in country sports though that is one day I very much wished I had attended.
You would never see ladies like these on the Food Network these days. For one, they don't look like starlets and they cook with far too much fat. Also they use cuts of meat and certain things like livers and hearts that are too (shall we say) "rustic" for the picky American palate. Can you imagine one of those guys asking "What's this?" and Clarissa saying "I picked it off the side of the road this morning"? An American would faint LOL.
Really? Food Network introduced them to us in the US back in the late 90s! I moved from the States in 2003, so I don't know what's on the channel nowadays, but info on the Ladies and some of their recipes are on the Food Network website
There's a bit of truth to this. But I did watch these wonderful ladies on the Food Channel back in the 90s. They and Emeril Lugasse were the first two shows I watched when I got a Directv satellite dish and Two Fat Ladies were my favorite of the shows offered back then. There are a few Americans, like me, who will forage things to eat on our own. I've gathered morel mushrooms, black raspberries, gooseberries, mulberries and paw paws.
So delicious food !!!! And the peaches, with cream and brown sugar - divine ! Well, I could die for it !! It's better to stay alive or I couldn't eat it. How I miss the two !
Jennifer is drunk I think! She was also ill at this point and would soon be diagnosed with terminal cancer. Jennifer also disliked far-flung rural locations like Scotland in the wet and cold. Clarissa lived in Scotland at this point and obviously loved it. So there's a bit of friction on that score too.
Andrew Moffitt these cottages can be rented, if you go to www.homeaway.co.uk/search/keywords:Ardnamurchan-Highland-UK/filter:64 you can see the cottage this was filmed in, the kitchen has changed but the size of it is the same.
"No, but I'm good with a whip". Clarissa remark. Brilliant!!😂

I didn't get to watch these when they first came out. But they are definitely a treat to watch now.
I agree about the scenery.beautiful!
Jennifer: What I’m going to do now, is cover them with cream.
Clarissa: What, the lumberjacks?
Lol I miss these two souls.
The best cooking show in history. I never missed an episode. I loved them both equally. They are missed.
Just the fact that they sang The Lumberjack Song (ala Monty Python) makes me respect them more than I already did.
"You don't like slippery, do you"
I CHOKED
Clarissa looks particularly lovely in this episode. Her hairdo has feathered flicks, and that green blouse is beautiful.
What a gorgeous fishing spot. Clarissa was quite smitten by the handsome fisherman. I love these two ladies. I can't think of any cooking show I like better than theirs. I love Julia Child, and she could be quite funny, too.
a classy pair of gourmands........very knowledgeble and entertaining..love them

I can watch them endlessly, both for the culinary and entertainment value, have tried many a recipe of theirs and loved, greatly missed, Ladies
it's like seeing two old friends again, I loved this show! RIP you wonderful old ducks
12:35 “ I can use a whip very well” lol
Jennifer with her blowtorch...’ blast away, blast away!’ I’m dead🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They are both so very lovely!
Man hungry Clarissa and Jennifer sitting in a chair helmet on holding an umbrella. Priceless.
That bright green really suits Clarissa. She looks so nice this episode.
LOL Jennifer and her unbrella and her folding chair ! "DON'T FALL IN !"
I loved it when Clarissa said "I can use a whip very well." I nearly lost it LOL.
"What a pretty lineup." LOL
The knowledge these two ladies had in cooking is amazing. Great personalities
Loved the way Clarissa, would have a go at anything to do with outdoor sports ,and Jennifer a townie at heart would often baulk at the offer !!!.
21:15
Clarissa: "just call me Rome, dear Nero..."
Jennifer: "Wee! I'm Matilda!" LOL
These ladies were unparalleled in their wit and humour. I am just thankful to God that we have them on video!
Makes you think that life is short so just treat yourself. I'll be trying these sumptuous dishes in the future. RIP Ladies
I used to watch Two Fat Ladies with my grandmother, it was one of our favourites. Now all I have is memories of the past and clips on UA-cam 😔
Thank you for sharing these episodes. Love these ladies. They make me smile every time.
I love when they talk about the “pope’s nose”, and Jennifer says it was probably meant to be rude or heretical or something, and Clarissa says, oh I know that it’s rude, I was just wondering what brand of rude it was! That made me chuckle!😆
Sadly missed from the cooking scene, quite possibly the best tv entertaining cooks ever.
I agree, with Graham Kerr coming in second to them.
asa I couldn't agree more.
Best And most lethal for the old arteries - but I love them
I love watching the British countryside in these videos! So beautiful!!
"Cover them with creme" ..."The Lumberjacks?"..🤣
I used to use ordinary butter with fish but I must say"Burre Blanc" beat it all as a butter sauce.
Miss the two fat ladies along with their cooking, songs and "ditties".
All those lumberjacks were so handsome! 😍
I must say dear Clarissa that I do love that wonderful combination of greens of your dress. So beautiful.
These ladies were always open to adventure.
thanks a bunch for uploading these treasures
I always forget this show and then can’t find it again. Love it.
'What IS he doing?...It looks as though he's about to....plum you' :D
Is that was she said it took me forever to figure out what PLUM was lol.
Peppery peppery

Clarissa: "Stiff peaks." XD
Typical Clarissa and her whip! ;) endless double entendres.
That's not a croft- that's luxury! Love these old gals, thumbing their noses at PC nonsense. Live life, enjoy yourself, try not to hurt others. Should others take offence, their problem. Oh, and more butter.
Peter Nicholson haha I agree. I've loved these ladies since the first time I saw them (many a moon ago)
This gives me life ;)
RE salt baking. If you mix the salt with egg white (albumen) then it helps to mould it around the fish or anything else you want to salt bake. It helps cracking it open when it's cooked too.
Watching expert chefs such as Clarissa and Jennifer, you soon realize what a science cooking is. It's fascinating. I want to try all their recipes.
I'm glad to see draft horse at work. They are the greenest transport available for farming.
They liked Monty Python? That sets the seal once and for all, they were gems!
Gosh those lumber jacks are hunky
I bet they put on women's clothing and hang around in bars.
@@drummerguy4032 I'd still take them home! 😆
@@seanclothier3464 Nothing wrong with that.
@@drummerguy4032 he wished he was a girlie. Just like his dear papa. 😂
@@drummerguy4032i bet you envy them 🤣
The Ladies are so non-P.C. by today's standards, but we love them.
I find them very normal, except I couldn't stay that large, I'd hate it.
Love them more for the fact that Today's 'pinky-in-the-air' P.C. is supercilious,
That they are/were not PC is a great reason to love them in and of itself!
How people should be
@@stanochocki8984 PC=PATHETIC CRAP!!!!!!
Watch out boys. Clarissa is on the lose!
Clarissa and her whip! Lol She stated she was full kink during the time of her "debauched existance" . No surprise there.
Gotta love her hots for fisherman and she gets food too! Adore this show.
Sooo good to see this again. Thank you!
And Jennifer, you were absolutely correct....both my Grandad and his sister had all their teeth taken out then dentures fitted for their 21st birthdays! Seems madness nowadays!
Clarrisa was enjoying her fishing lesson. Love them both . R.I.P
Jennifer: Guess what I'm gonna do now...cover them in cream.
Clarissa: What, the lumberjacks?
I love this exchange! 😂😂😂
I love that top that Clarissa is wearing!
We sure do miss these two! ❤️👍🏻
What a gorgeous fishing spot. Clarissa was quite smitten by the hunky fisherman. I love these two ladies. I can't think of any cooking show I like better than theirs. I love Julia Child, and she could be quite funny, too.
Clarissa was married several times wasn't she?
Jennifer never married.
Wonderful human souls. RIP

"We're so old! Well, speak for yourself. I will." Love these ladies...
I'm more likely to have a bottle of Pernod in the cupboard than a few fennel fronds...
love them so much
Jennifer loves her parsley. She puts in every dish she makes I think.
I want that croft. And a lumberjack to boot.
Lovely Ladies! I enjoy it very much!
I love them both so much! They are so funny! I love it when Jennifer said what on earth is he doing he looks as if he’s about to drown you! 😂
O.M.G. teach me how to fish too, Peter! Oh my

Lol. These ladies are fun and they cook with everything! I'm Canadian Chinese, so we do tend to eat every part of the animal.
Really? Food Network introduced them to us in the US back in the late 90s! I moved from the States in 2003, so I don't know what's on the channel nowadays, but info on the Ladies and some of their recipes are on the Food Network website
Have you never heard of Paula Deen? 🙄
I assure you, there are many rural Americans who eat wild plants they've foraged. Less all the time, but we're still around. ;)

These two delicious characters should still be alive. Crying shame!!!🙄🙄😪
I love an miss them! ❤🙏❤
Dang. Those men should have had their own calender.
"We're so old!". Clarissa: "Jennifer, speak for yourself." Hahahaha....
@18:43 Jennifer has the most *delicious* laugh! How can you not love them both? You are so missed 2FL. #mayyouRIP
I didn't realise in the 90s that Jennifer is pissed as arseholes in this episode. Clarissa looks very annoyed with her for it at times. Brilliant.
'To your very good health'. Bittersweet to hear these words fell on God's deaf ears in the days that came shortly.
THE BLOW TORCH I am howling
I used to love watching this show gave me ideas what to Cook and very funny lady's
That’s one strong fortress of a house. I can see how thick the walls are no hurricane can take it down lol!
Clarissa might be the baddest player in the game.... Get that man girl! Gosh I miss this show!
Clarissa is something else!
Irrepressible and irreplaceable
So delicious food !!!!
And the peaches, with cream and brown sugar - divine !
Well, I could die for it !! It's better to stay alive or I couldn't eat it. How I miss the two !
I wonder if the fisherman was a friend of Clarissa.
What! Jennifer, you've totally told me at other times NOT to truss the bird.
To be fair, the bird was put in a pot wit water, not into an oven!
what a great song, hilarious
Clarissa acts a little curt towards Jennifer in this episode, I've just noticed.
Great show love there motorcycle.👍😍👏👏👏
We will miss them until Jesus comes back
lol!! i love watching the "ol' girls" but being ssoooo American, i don't even know what half of the ingredients are, but this is great !
Jennifer:..."Damn...let's get out of hair" (In Brit pronunciation) lol ...... Love it!
Heightened RP.
The Popes nose! Guess fine protestant English is alive around the world.
"I can use a whip very well." Bless the fat gourmands. btw, young ppl, 'foodies' are properly called gourmands in the English language.
Amusing since “gourmand” comes from the French.
@o
Gourmets.

I take it this was the last episode before Jennifers diagnosis.
NO WAY is that kitchen from that tiny little cottage!

Was Clarissa the inspiration for Patsy of AbFab?
