In this new segment of our 2 part interview, FRET12 is now taking you backstage with the Josh and Jim; the two guitarist team that drives heavy Iowa rockers Stone Sour!!
Jim Root and Josh Rand are undoubtedly one of the most talked about guitar teams in modern rock, and they will be taking you behind the scenes to show you their latest guitars, and secrets behind their tones from pedals to amplifiers.
Get ready to learn how Stone Sour puts on such a great live show, achieves such massive live guitar sound from night to night, the importance of lead-free solder in a Boss NS-2, and why Jim and Josh never pursued their career in television.
Jim will also be giving you a sneak peak at his brand new Fender Jazzmaster, featuring a blistering set of 81/60s from EMG and an awesome compound-radius fretboard which is a feature usually only reserved for custom shop builds.
Josh talks about his move from PRS back to Ibanez, the brand he started out with. He takes you through his guitar boat, with several stunning custom shop Ibanez models named after his daughters, a custom Japanese import, and a home-made riveted aluminum model!
Stone Sour doesn't have that same excitement and vibe now that Jim was booted....ucks I never got to see Sour with Jim in :(, doubt I will see them at all now. It's all about that energy a band gives off..... the bands energy is way off now with Jim out

You're right man, I saw SS with Jim only about 2 times. Never got to see them after 2007. But it seems like Corey Taylor's side project again. I miss Shawn on bass and especially Jim on guitar. None of the guys in the band are interesting except Corey & Roy

Jim’s jazzmaster is a Masterpiece build. I have and old LP that’s been my nub 1 for 19 years and also his sig Tele. But the Jazzmaster I always pickup now. He’s right it’s so comfortable playing standing up or sitting down. And the compound radius makes the fretboard feel like butter. If you like low action that guitar you’ll fall in love with.

What the fuck happened and root is out? Honestly he was the adrian smith in stone sour. Everything he played was awesome, fast precise and character full, like little stories in the song or hooks.
Rand is an excellent "player" but fuck personally I don't even want to remember any of his fast runs.
I hope they do well but root was the guitar for me in that band.
Rand has no persoanlity on stage. Honestly I'd look at their live videos a lot of the time just to see what the hell Jim was doing haha

If your looking for info on Jim's new Jazzmaster Model this is the place I guess. I own the Sig Tele in White with the Ebony board and its fantastic. The Jazzmaster in that original Fender Red color is sweet! Loving the Chrome Top 81/60!

JAMS Life As far as i know...Josh was mad at Jim because after Paul's death, Joey left(or got kicked)Jim was doing alone what he used to do with Paul and Joey(they wrote all the songs)and was only focusing on Slipknot...and that triggered Josh! And he said that it isn't about Corey why he got kicked...it was Josh fault(he didn't said it was Josh, im just saying that lol)and i guess the others agreed, because that's actually bad for the band right? So there ya go...if i explained it bad let me know.
OBS:Jim(probably in a internet or a fan question on Instagram)said that there is only one guy in the band who's there just for money, and if you look at Josh...well...motherfucker looks like is being forced to play

Hes a talented musician? Read that he doesnt even bring music to the band which is probably why jim was kicked out. The band probably never played anything he wrote.
@@crapbag666 Josh brought in most the heavier songs and Jim did a lot of the more melodic shit, Sillyworld, Gone Sovereign, Absolute Zero, rumor of skin, etc.
