Everlasting design both interior and exterior. Reliable horse; this is a family MPV so drive it like a MPV. It's not built to be powerful and to race. This car definitely has sufficient power for normal daily driving even on 7pax full load. Very spacious and still has luggage space even when all 3 rows of seats are up. I gave mine sport rims, android headunit and audio upgrade and it's almost perfect now. 9 years car and didnt have any major issue. Low maintenance wear and tear, and servicing and that's it.
Bobby, thumbs up for your reviews. Going into the details is top notch, and tell us more about comparison of resale value of your cars. But please please upgrade your mic to one of those external one which attached to the collar, sound is terrible 2/10 but video is 10/10. Keep it up Bobby!!
nice review , i need this review very much as i in the mid of choosing between RECON Odyssey or grand karnival , budget below 200k .. can you just shoot me a right direction for my next MPV ? btw , is Karnival drive like Aphard ? bcause i own alphard before and driving experience is not satisfying at all , so is karnival any better ?
"Overall package" for a family MPV excluding those Re-conditioned Toyotas, this Odyssey is the best choice. 5 years unlimited mileage warranty. Tech is much better comparing with the estima (which is freaking old, facelift, facelift, facelift), This odyssey has the 360 camera, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert, super bright LED headlamps. If you notice, the super low platform which makes the going in and out of the mpv an ease, small steps, your kids will get in easily. This low platform doesn't need to have the car to be so tall but have a good foot to head room. Too bad is super heavy dutied CBU, only if the price is much lower...
Is the quality of the Odyssey that terrible? Now i’m starting to have second thoughts already because i’m abit conscious when it comes to NVH. At first i was very attracted to buy this car because: 1. Recon models that are cheaper than our official imports come equipped with Honda Sensing too 2. It’s a great alternative to the typical Alphard/Vellfire/Estima 3. Unregistered recon models (2015MY, RM170K) are easily 20-30K cheaper than unregistered 2012/2013MY Alphard/Vellfire. The new gen ones are too expensive. If it’s truly that bad, i might consider a Vellfire V6 (again, my choice at first). Though, i will not get a Grand Carnival because it’s pretty low equipped and resale value is terrible- i do change cars about every 2 years.
Bobby Ang Hmm whether it does or not, honestly resale value isn’t my biggest concern. I only prioritise safety and comfort. Sadly as you said the Odyssey has bad NVH....
Shall I ask, is there any major issues with this car? From the comment, this is a good car but just curious why not many on the road (or maybe only not many around my area...haha). See for inputs.
240k? WOW!.. I initially thought the price would be ard 180K-200K, old model some more. 240k is a hefty premium for the badge. maybe the placement of the model in honda line-up pushes the price up. What really excites me are the flat folding 3rd row and the long rear sliding 2nd row (you didn't mention this but i notice the floor rails of 2nd row ends quite far behind, is it so?). it creates a good legroom for 2nd row when 3rd row is stowed in.
That's crazy. In Australia, the Honda Odyssey is much cheaper than the Kia Sorento, but in Malaysia it's 50% more expensive. The local manufacture/assembly taxes are creating all sorts of pricing distortions. If I were Malaysian, I would carefully compare overseas prices before putting money down for overpriced cars (on a relative value basis) like the Honda Odyssey or Mazdas in general.
I will still appreciate this car if the exterior of this car remains the same. It is a very good looking and upmarket exterior. Adding on some touch ups like the latest led head lamps that people can find on current Accords and Civics, I personally think this won't look obsolete in a few years. Having an interior as good built up as the Kia Grand Carnival will be a plus!
Hey bobby I guess U have to check out the Toyota estima 3rd seat fold down.. The surface is 100% flat and not like in the odyssey. Between I will appreciate if you do a review comparing both estima and odyssey. Anyway, great video.
If the Kia Grand Carnival have all those tech.. I am sure MITI will priced it same as this Odyssey.. I think they should give the SX spec a try to compete with Malaysia Odyssey and Previa. The US spec SX and SXL have lots of gadgets. The Malaysian Kia Grand Carnival just need to upgrade the HU only.
Good to hear that since i''m been studying this model about +- 3 month but still did't make my mind which one should i buy. Btw, thanks Mr Bobby for your prompt response :) much obliged
Like he stated, I think he prefers the Carnival because of the much better soundproofing, fit & finish and the power also since the Carnival is equipped with a decent diesel engine which helps to pull the car even with full load much effortlessly. However, if you are a kind of person who has something against korean cars (like most malaysians do), then you still might not be bothered by the KIA. Just that malaysians typically believe japanese cars are more "tahan" and have better resale values, although that part is most of the time true.
Yupe, there's little to compare on paper, the Grand Carnival is a whole Myvi cheaper to buy, has an interior that is both spacious and as solidly build as BMW (i say BMW because it hasn't reach Audi levels). But the Odyssey has its merits, if I were to let my wife or my mom choose, 10/10 they will pick the Odyssey simply because of its more approachable, more usable size, it feels like you're driving a jacked-up Accord. The Grand Carnival on the other hand, feels like you're driving an Alphard with better sound proofing and with upgraded handling, it's still a big big car, too big for some. The Grand Carnival's infotainment system is quite sad too, no info, no entertainment, just a device that emits sound form either radio, usb or cd.
I think..odysey facelift...is good for family more children...all complte...the door auto like estima...alphat....interested......honda is a good made car....tq admin..review odysey facelift
Please drive properly and follow the road direction. Don't simply cut here and there. You are endangering other road user. My reviewing stop here. I will not continue see this video.

I think Kia has resale value guarantee now right?

can u please review the toyota estima! love your review tho!
Shall I ask, is there any major issues with this car? From the comment, this is a good car but just curious why not many on the road (or maybe only not many around my area...haha).

Hahaha 🤣 like the part"Toyota learn from Honda la, you fold the seats up and you call it a day off"
I already subscribed lorrr... may I know what kind of camera u used it ?

+suchap69 it's RM20k cheaper than the competing Toyota Previa (Estima) so it is ok, just the Grand Carnival was priced really competitively

Yeap, it is a very good looking MPV. I prefer this size as well, very easy to drive.
bobby, which 1 is better odyssey or estima? help me please :(
Bobby can you please do a full review on new CRV? and what you think compair with the new cx5 you tested back in Japan?
+VT 9y CRV looks angry, CX5 looks pretty. CRV is big and practical, CX5 less space but nimble and higher quality cabin
Hi bobby, very good and detailed car review, planning to buy the new nissan serena c27, could you do some review on it plsssss.....
Hey bobby I guess U have to check out the Toyota estima 3rd seat fold down.. The surface is 100% flat and not like in the odyssey. Between I will appreciate if you do a review comparing both estima and odyssey. Anyway, great video.
Third row seat is MAGiC! :) Just make sure their air cond vent comes with adequate warranty!!!
already subscribed laaa bobby...haha
Is the steering heavy like the Innova?

Estima
Good to hear that since i''m been studying this model about +- 3 month but still did't make my mind which one should i buy. Btw, thanks Mr Bobby for your prompt response :) much obliged
If I remember correctly, the second row slides all the way to the back with the 3rd row folded down.
Gene Chee Yup, so it makes tons more room compared to the Vellfire and alphard

compared to Kia Grand Carnival, which one do you recommend, sir?
