can you use #12 pound fluorocarbon or heavier on spinning reels or do I need casting reels

You can use whatever you want. Reel size is just going to dictate how much line you can actually put on.

@@Distantttt you usually put mono in water but for more than a hour i usually do 24hr so it takes on water and also leave it in water as you reel it onto spool get a rag so line goes on under pressure

Also, flourocarbon doesnt absorb water like mono.

No no doing it this way will put twist on the line. Its not the way they fill the spools in the factory
