If the motor gets constsnt use, replace the impellar each season (if this motor uses water cooling and not 4 cycle air cooled). This will ensure that the outboard gets serviced each season and you will never lose cooling.
Pushed mine about 16 mph but thats also with the motor lower than it should be, the bottom cavatatiin plate should be even with the bottom of the boat mine was 2 inches lower so it wasnt gettin the most out of it.
Im lookin bout 16-19 mph once planed up. Thats me, and equipment. Still runnin good gonna post up again wen the weather breaks. Thanks for the comment!!
I'd get the 18hp. It's a big jump in price but you'll be happy for the extra power when you need it for heavier loads. Also, most of the reviews assert the 12 hp is like a Japanese 9.8 and the 18 hp like a Japanese 15 hp. The top speeds being produced pretty much confirm that. Either way, I'd buy several extra water pump impellers to have on hand in the event they may become unavailable. That's the number one wear part on outboard motors that's manufacturer specific. Seals and spark plugs you can get. Things are heating up around the globe if you know what I mean...
The first year i ran it probably 6 times a month the last year or so only a few times, the places i go most went to electric only. Still runnin strong!!
Thinking about getting this motor. Thanks for the review. Appreciate it.
Looked like you enjoyed those 10 pumps... :) still watching.
I appreciate you making these videos.
Thank u for the comment!!!
nice. 2year still stable. this year i plan buy 1unit but 6hp 2stroke.
I just got the 18 hp so far so good. Still breaking it in

Thanks for the video.
Can you do a video of you at top speed?
Soon as the ice is off the water and weather breaks im on it!! Thanks for the comment!
Almost time for year 3
Soon as the weather breaks. Lookin good for middle, late next week in the 60's!!!
Have u figured out a way to hook a Marine battery to this motor?
How does that thing push that boat?

What’s the top speed that you get out of it. I have a 14ft semi V. Thinking about the 12hp or 18hp.

Is the smell/smoke from the 2 stroke noticeable or bearable? I use a 4 stroke 6hp and am fine of the nearly zero smell of it.
Its not horrible wen ur moving the break in ratio is 30:1 so its pretty smokie, but after that the regular mix is 50:1 but i run 40:1
Got ask I run a boat year round how much you run your boat I’m looking at getting one
The first year i ran it probably 6 times a month the last year or so only a few times, the places i go most went to electric only. Still runnin strong!!
Any issues with corrosion or paint?
Nope. I dont run it in salt water though either. Salt water might be a different story??
Where do you set your gas/mixture ?
Its still on the factory setting i havent messed with it at all.
How fast does it push that boat
Bout 17mph but i need to raise it up about 2 inches it hangs a little low so it not getting up on plane.
Just want to know how that motor is holding up
Just did a 3 year review, still running good!
