- Using leftover from the cuttings of 3m sound proof pad used at my mum’s car, I managed to join the scattered pieces into one complete piece of sound proof pad for my Hangkai 12hp 2 stroke outboard engine plastic cover. The result is satisfying. I’m not using any special tools. Watch to know more. Enjoy!

I think you are focusing on the wrong area. Instead of that little piece on the bottom, put sound insulation around the inside of the main engine cover. Also try to find a muffler for the air intake.

Hi just wanna ask if this type of outboard..can install steering wheel and cable?
Hi this is a very small engine which usually used at small or light boat. So I don’t recommend to install it with steering. But I do think that it is able to be installed with steering and cable.

Hi Leon, thanks for your comment. So far, it has been a great experience with this motor. However, the main concern is that it lacks anode whereby it has only a tiny rectangular one right above the propeller. So, when I use this motor at saltwater, the anode did function and eroded as it should be. But, the erosion also happened at the surfaces where bolts and nuts are in contact with the motor body. This is because there is no painting to protect the motor body. Hence, I just ordered different model anodes and I will share another video on how I would modify the 3 anodes after seeing my friend's 15hp Mercury anodes. Stay tuned!

I would say 20% improvements. Meaning there is slightly lesser sound produced after I installed the sound isolation.
Could you tell a difference in the sound? To me it sounded louder after in the video.
A bit softer. But no really big difference.

mine after a year plus, the magnet coil has given up, the cdi also. the paint job also gotten worst. mostly salfwater usage but only few times. maybe if you any ideas how to redo the paint job can you share in a video.
My paint job also chipped off a bit. Maybe I will see how to do repaint it and share a video of it.
How is your engine holding up now? I'm thinking about buying one for saltwater use too but I'm concerned about constant repairs and issues.
Looking for a kick motor for my lake boat. Please, any issue with quality of the Hangkai.
The only quality issue is on the rust buildup on body due to small anode. I have another video on how to upgrade a bigger one. Please browse through the playlist. You should be able to learn something from it.

Но эту пластиковую штуковину правильнее всего снять, покрасить в жёлтый цвет и выкинуть. Правда, правда, этот пластиковый кожух там совсем не нужен.
На оригинале Tohatsu 9.8 hp такого кожуха не устанавливалось никогда потому что он там и ненужен.

How thick is the 3M pad?
It is a 3 in 1 sound insulation pad with 1 cm thick. The material consists of aluminum, butyl and foam.
You think this would work on a 20 inch transom?
Transom height for this engine is 440mm or 17”. I don’t suggest to use as the propeller will be higher than the boat base.
@@k-razzybuilt8467 nah I built a reverse jack plate lowered it 3 inches and it works fine.

Hi Afendy. Ni tak yah lock masa reverse. Masa gear reverse masuk ada satu pin yang akan otomatik lock engine supaya ianya tak terlipat ke atas sebab throttle terlajak besar tiba-tiba.

Ada beza ketara. Bunyi enjin dah jadi lembut sikit. Boleh cuba. 👍
