Ive probably said this before, but despite heavily disliking TX2's music, his method of marketing and some of his fanbase...it does seem like he genuinely cares for LGBTQ+ folk. Remember when he filmed himself doing a TikTok *in the middle of an anti-LGBTQ+ parade*? I'd rather his music be shit, rather than his personality to be frank. Either way, thanks, you pretty much air similar grievances I have with him.
Heavily agree. And that's coming from someone who is both pan and on the gender spectrum. I do appreciate having that sort of representation and unapologetically queer representation in the niche but I do think there come some issues with that. On one hand, as I said near the end, I think he really participates in perpetuating all the stereotypes and the blunt, 'stick your tongue out and middle fingers up' at homophobic/transphobic people, while funny on paper, gets zero progress done and only adds fuel to the fine and ammo for the groups who target LGBTQ+ people, specifically younger folks (a large chunk of his audience being teens/early adults) And it's also that with his platform he rarely uses that to represent the LGBTQ+ community in a meaningful and passionate way. All of his lyrics in regards to it boil down to nothing more than punchlines and petty jabs, and he uses it as a betting chip for cheap jokes and skits for his music. Representation is something I will NEVER scoff at. But considering the community he is in is already heavily dominated by queer people, he is not exactly doing much to 1. bring people in that wouldn't have been otherwise, since that shade of emo/rock is either very queer or very tolerant on average but 2. use his platform to enforce himself as a good role model and figure that doesn't just come across as a cocky young Gen Z stereotype that is every shade of issue that the groups that target us portray us as anyway; he rarely serves as a figurehead and more so a reason those assailants will point to to prove a point. Tx2 is actually part of the LGBTQ+ community himself he is Bisexual and very open about it. I literally love TX2 but even though you don’t really like his music, us X’s appreciate you for saying something positive about him. He really does deserve the world.
I don’t know, I feel like he has good intentions with most of his music to give messages and talk about himself, and I really like some of his songs, but he is clearly going by the book to an obvious degree on social media marketing. I’m sure he’s 100% aware of it too, his guitarist has his, cam has like, his own music he makes and you can count all the differences in why tx2 is popular. But really I don’t think he could have been in a position to get a platform without all of the techniques he uses. Black wedding is in my opinion pretty awful, but I do like burn just because I relate pretty specifically. I’m a huge TX2 Fan, I’ve actually met him twice, and he’s really such a short princess. I get your opinion on him, and thanks for being very respectful towards the way you told us it. One thing I do need to say is when he captions his videos as “The hardest rock song”, or “this song is going to bring rock back”, he even said he knows that’s not true he just likes to make people react, and make people mad, therefor he gets more attention and his music gets spread more. But again he knows he’s not the best and he knows there’s way better artists than him but again it’s just for marketing. He isn’t really using mental health or religion as a weapon or anything, but the things he says in his music is his own struggles he’s dealt with and if you ever watched any of his lives you know that he always says his only mission is to help people because man he’s been through hell. Lastly he also says that Fetishizing people Isn’t okay and that he only makes videos on that as a joke.
He wasn’t copying Get scared I thought that too in the beginning although I’m a fan but then I started doing a little more digging the songs are in 2 completely separate Keys and Evan(TX2s real name) Even spoke in the topic in a interview, saying “I didn’t copy them, though I’m a huge fan. When I was writing this song I wasn’t even thinking about “Sarcasm”. Anyway The beat has been used so many times before in so many different songs. And his guitarist Cam just started playing the beat and Evan wrote lyrics to match the beat. No way is that copying anybody.
i originally followed TX2 for Loaded Guns. even my boyfriend said he liked it when he overheard me listening to it. i agreed with the snippets i heard on tiktok, although i never actually sat down and listened to his music in depth. it just went downhill from there. i don't want to hear about a toxic marriage or how people hate him. i want a relatable anthem about how the world is fucked and it's up to us to change it. i recently decided to unfollow him once i heard people pointing out the reasons brought up in this video. it made me see there's no real point of following an artist that i don't feel a connection to.
I mean i liked Tx2 up until I started learning music myself, i mean don’t get me wrong- i havent been goin at it for long and i am NOWHERE as skilled as anyone on this platform and arguably more cringe than that of TX2 with the communities I indulge in- but regardless of all that; when I started learning how to make music, TX2’s stuff just left a bad taste in my mouth and I think you had it really well said, nothing about his character but it just feels like (in my opinion) he is trying to hard. But he makes his music with emotions, that's what music is about, expressing yourself, it's that simple and he's doing an amazing job at it. I'm seeing him tomorrow and I can't wait to scream and shout his lyrics as I rock out to his and his bands music!
He also is helping me with my self confidence and trans transition journey. I picked out an outfit with a skirt to wear to his show, for reference, I'm a passing trans guy and skirts and other things like nail Polish make me feel dysphoric, but since watching him be himself, it's given me the confidence to wear things i wouldn't have wore out in public years ago, earlier in my transition journey! I also have raging adhd and he struggles with his adhd and let me tell you, dealing with and having raging adhd isn't fun! He's worked for years, for little, and now that he's finally gotten a step up that he honestly deserves, he is now getting a bunch of hate, bad, good, and neutral criticism. He knows he's not the best. He has never genuinely claimed that, most of his lyrics are jokes, punchlines and honestly that so refreshing to listen to and also while at the same time it being relatable!

I don't hate TX2 though, and from what I have seen he is a really nice guy, I don't know a lot about him and maybe I stopped listening cause of me getting into different genres, my music is nowhere near the level of skill as that of TX2 or really anyone else for that matter- my stuff is honestly really bad but at the same time you are correct, music is about passion and no one should have the right to take that away from someone. Artists like tx2 give the alternative music scene a bad name, they're the loudest and are well known on social media, so "normies" (for lack of a better word) will see his videos and think all emos/alternative folks are like that. As what someone would call an emo, we don't claim him.
as someone who’s trying to write song lyrics, this is js rlly sad and frustrating how he js copies songs. i’m trying to do a solo band, writing my own lyrics and stuff and he’s getting popular for basically copying black wedding..it might’ve not been his intention that’s just what i am interpreting

Well to be fair he doesn’t actually think his songs are the “hardest rock/metal song of 2024.” He has said himself multiple times on lives he doesn’t actually think that. I love his music, I love him as a person (platonically ofc), and I love how much he cares about his fans, but I very much dislike how he advertises his music. When he started making shorts with Vendetta (a song he released 2 months ago) in them, I thought it was cool. But then he sorta screwed that up by posting the same thing *over and over again*. It gave me a headache. And imo I think his music has gotten worse. His older songs like No Place Like Home, Step Over A Body, and Where'd You Come From are a lot better than his newer songs. Thats just my opinion, though :)

Me too! Controversy alert. I only have MCR at 10 for the 100 top emo bands of all time. Hawthorne Heights is up in the top 3. I love these guys. They are still relevant 20 years into their career. Awesome band that kept on going. I also have Taking Back Sunday, Silverstein and Alkaline Trio ahead of MCR as well. I'm getting some hate, but I have to give other 00s bands credit for giving us awesome emo music. Saves the Day made emo popular as well making it more fun and catchy. Some emo bands have also been described as pop punk. Cut them some slack. These bands do what they do and as long as they make awesome music, I'm happy for them. 90s emo and 00s emo are very different. Both are good in their own ways. I have to give credit to Sunny Day Real Estate and The Promise Ring. Two of the best emo bands during the 90s. 90s was a time if you were into alternative music. Doesn't matter if it's emo, punk, or grunge. 90s alternative was at its peak.
Just saw TX2 open for Avatar, Ice Nine Kills, and In this Moment. They have good energy on stage. They are not my cup of tea. One of my kids is in the binary group of people the TX2 says they support. From what I hear from them and some of their friends, is that TX2 controversy is starting to hurt some of the people in that group. Not from the people outside looking in but from my kids' own group. Because some of the Alt group kids do not like them, they are being harassed by the one's who do like TX2. I think that is a shame. Not everybody needs to like the same band, and if you do not, it does not give one the right to call others derogatory names.
As a musician, there are two sides here. One side is that, music is completely subjective, but the other side is, actually maintaining nuance and layers.. which TX2 lacks. The guitar work of the tracks is the most generic metal guitar stuff I've heard, and the lyrics and the songwriting itself is really juvenile, but it's smart how it makes it though, because it's targeted to a younger audience so he can market off of that. All in all, it's just some dude who knows how to put himself out there and get attention, but at the same time, the songs he makes are just... blegh, anyone who actually knows anything about music will obviously think that stuff is bad.. which, it is lol, but I agree with you, I wish instead of selling yourself out, why not actually write and make nuanced things?

everyone has the right to their own opinion but with the whole “this is the heaviest rock song of 2024” if you watched his lives (not saying you have to) he has talked about how he knows it’s not the heaviest song and he does that to get people mad, he talks about how he’s come to terms that he will always get hate so he uses that to push his content out to people in the alternative which make new people find him that like his music. that how i found him in early 2023 from a hate video. it’s just self promotion and it works for him. he’s also still a relatively new artist so with the “bad songs” they are only going to improve overtime, his producer is Matt good and he’s talking about he’s members from bigger bands that support him. He is going on ANOTHER U.S. tour so clearly his music isn’t that bad when he sells out shows 🤷♀️

I like some of his songs because they are relatable, but it sucks that his marketing is so generic. I feel like he could be much more creative with the videos if he tried, but he doesn't for some reason.
as for the titles of the videos, they are annoying, but that's the point. he's tying to get people to say things like "no, it isn't" in the comments to boost it in the algorithm, since more comments=more views. (kind of like how I replied to my own comment instead of editing it)

i originally followed TX2 for Loaded Guns. even my boyfriend said he liked it when he overheard me listening to it. i agreed with the snippets i heard on tiktok, although i never actually sat down and listened to his music in depth. it just went downhill from there. i don't want to hear about a toxic marriage or how people hate him. i want a relatable anthem about how the world is fucked and it's up to us to change it. i recently decided to unfollow him once i heard people pointing out the reasons brought up in this video. it made me see there's no real point of following an artist that i don't feel a connection to.

It sucks, because he could be doing so much more with that platform.
I mean i liked Tx2 up until I started learning music myself, i mean don’t get me wrong- i havent been goin at it for long and i am NOWHERE as skilled as anyone on this platform and arguably more cringe than that of TX2 with the communities I indulge in- but regardless of all that; when I started learning how to make music, TX2’s stuff just left a bad taste in my mouth and I think you had it really well said, nothing about his character but it just feels like (in my opinion) he is trying to hard.
He has a good singing voice, the instrumentals are decent, but I just think that he needs to maybe tone it down a notch and try to just make music as opposed to making it seem like its the best thing of said year its made, and hell- maybe even throw in some originality in some of his music. Though Idk, maybe I am just bein hypocritical lolol.

But he makes his music with emotions, that's what music is about, expressing yourself, it's that simple and he's doing an amazing job at it.
I'm seeing him tomorrow and I can't wait to scream and shout his lyrics as I rock out to his and his bands music!
He also is helping me with my self confidence and trans transition journey. I picked out an outfit with a skirt to wear to his show, for reference, I'm a passing trans guy and skirts and other things like nail Polish make me feel dysphoric, but since watching him be himself, it's given me the confidence to wear things i wouldn't have wore out in public years ago, earlier in my transition journey! I also have raging adhd and he struggles with his adhd and let me tell you, dealing with and having raging adhd isn't fun! He's worked for years, for little, and now that he's finally gotten a step up that he honestly deserves, he is now getting a bunch of hate, bad, good, and neutral criticism.
He knows he's not the best. He has never genuinely claimed that, most of his lyrics are jokes, punchlines and honestly that so refreshing to listen to and also while at the same time it being relatable!
@@littleowl22778 first off, thats so cool, I am glad that he has been helping you transition in a way!! i will say one thing he has helped me through is being proud that I am gay (technically pan) and being public about it- nothing can take away the fact that he is an extremely supportive person!! I don't hate TX2 though, and from what I have seen he is a really nice guy, I don't know a lot about him and maybe I stopped listening cause of me getting into different genres, my music is nowhere near the level of skill as that of TX2 or really anyone else for that matter- my stuff is honestly really bad but at the same time you are correct, music is about passion and no one should have the right to take that away from someone.
I also think no one should say that you can't like something because they don't like it, which if it came across like that in my previous comment then I apologize cause I really didn't mean for it to come across that way. You seem really passionate about TX2s music, and knowing that his music has helped you with your transitioning sounds really cool and you should be aloud to enjoy it. Artists like tx2 give the alternative music scene a bad name, they're the loudest and are well known on social media, so "normies" (for lack of a better word) will see his videos and think all emos/alternative folks are like that. As what someone would call an emo, we don't claim him.

Well to be fair he doesn’t actually think his songs are the “hardest rock/metal song of 2024.” He has said himself multiple times on lives he doesn’t actually think that. He just does it to piss people off. In my opinion he is great, but it is also fair to hate him as he doesn’t really have a filter. ( which isn’t necessarily a bad thing )

I love his music, I love him as a person (platonically ofc), and I love how much he cares about his fans, but I very much dislike how he advertises his music. When he started making shorts with Vendetta (a song he released 2 months ago) in them, I thought it was cool. But then he sorta screwed that up by posting the same thing *over and over again*. It gave me a headache. And imo I think his music has gotten worse. His older songs like No Place Like Home, Step Over A Body, and Where'd You Come From are a lot better than his newer songs.

I'm not the type of person/ fan nowadays that heavily follows a bands/ singers, actors, etc.'s online social media presence. Because just don't want to get caught up in fans bitching ass comments and opinions. I just listen, feel, and rock out to the music I like, follow and semi check up on their content, and go to show even I can and enjoy my time at said event.

Me too! Controversy alert. I only have MCR at 10 for the 100 top emo bands of all time. Hawthorne Heights is up in the top 3. I love these guys. They are still relevant 20 years into their career. Awesome band that kept on going. I also have Taking Back Sunday, Silverstein and Alkaline Trio ahead of MCR as well. I'm getting some hate, but I have to give other 00s bands credit for giving us awesome emo music. Saves the Day made emo popular as well making it more fun and catchy. Some emo bands have also been described as pop punk. Cut them some slack. These bands do what they do and as long as they make awesome music, I'm happy for them. 90s emo and 00s emo are very different. Both are good in their own ways. I have to give credit to Sunny Day Real Estate and The Promise Ring. Two of the best emo bands during the 90s. 90s was a time if you were into alternative music. Doesn't matter if it's emo, punk, or grunge. 90s alternative was at its peak.

honestly, you're right. (I watched your OG video before I made mine :))
Just saw TX2 open for Avatar, Ice Nine Kills, and In this Moment. They have good energy on stage. They are not my cup of tea. One of my kids is in the binary group of people the TX2 says they support. From what I hear from them and some of their friends, is that TX2 controversy is starting to hurt some of the people in that group. Not from the people outside looking in but from my kids' own group. Because some of the Alt group kids do not like them, they are being harassed by the one's who do like TX2. I think that is a shame. Not everybody needs to like the same band, and if you do not, it does not give one the right to call others derogatory names.
As a musician, there are two sides here. One side is that, music is completely subjective, but the other side is, actually maintaining nuance and layers.. which TX2 lacks. The guitar work of the tracks is the most generic metal guitar stuff I've heard, and the lyrics and the songwriting itself is really juvenile, but it's smart how it makes it though, because it's targeted to a younger audience so he can market off of that. All in all, it's just some dude who knows how to put himself out there and get attention, but at the same time, the songs he makes are just... blegh, anyone who actually knows anything about music will obviously think that stuff is bad.. which, it is lol, but I agree with you, I wish instead of selling yourself out, why not actually write and make nuanced things?

He admitted that he makes little annoying skits and stuff on tiktok because he knows people think its cringe, for example the "IS THIS THE HARDEST ROCK SONG OF 2024???" or whatever, he said he doesn't actually think that. he's sort of making a satirical skit to point out the regular pop artists on tiktok who are like "did i make the song of the summer??" It's all part of his strategy, if he has one at all. Honestly I think he's just having fun and we should let him be. I enjoy his music personally, and it's fine if it's not your cup of tea

everyone has the right to their own opinion but with the whole “this is the heaviest rock song of 2024” if you watched his lives (not saying you have to) he has talked about how he knows it’s not the heaviest song and he does that to get people mad, he talks about how he’s come to terms that he will always get hate so he uses that to push his content out to people in the alternative which make new people find him that like his music. that how i found him in early 2023 from a hate video. it’s just self promotion and it works for him. he’s also still a relatively new artist so with the “bad songs” they are only going to improve overtime, his producer is Matt good and he’s talking about he’s members from bigger bands that support him. He is going on ANOTHER U.S. tour so clearly his music isn’t that bad when he sells out shows 🤷♀️

Everything people complain about wth TX2 is intentional marketing strategy. it works, people pay attention.
I like some of his songs because they are relatable, but it sucks that his marketing is so generic. I feel like he could be much more creative with the videos if he tried, but he doesn't for some reason.
as for the titles of the videos, they are annoying, but that's the point. he's tying to get people to say things like "no, it isn't" in the comments to boost it in the algorithm, since more comments=more views. (kind of like how I replied to my own comment instead of editing it)

I fully respect and understand that but, and I am surprised I have to say this, numbers never have and never will be an indication of the quality, positive or negative, or something. There are thousands of incredible things that do far less numbers, and extremely popular things that are fairly objectively bad.
