I own a number of very expensive guns, both revolvers and semi. What you pointed out as far as cosmetics is true. I never owned a Taurus in my life. Nothing against them, just never bought one. They I had a chance to shoot one. And loved it. One of the best deals I have made in decades of being a avid shooter. I now own two of them and two additional slides Using a bore scope, mine have not show any leading as you say. They are not precision target guns, but just fine for EDC combat shooting. They really are a best buy. And I will say this and be CLEAR, they have been totally reliable. In fact more so than some of my guns that I paid three times for.
The video is incorrect, the G3c has metal, Glock compatible sights. The confusion may be due to the G2c having plastic sights which were replaced with metal in later model's.
I don’t use “cheap” to describe affordable guns because of the stigma attached to the word. As you said, inexpensive guns can be very reliable. All those higher end features are why guns can vary greatly in cost.

I have owned both (I have G3 as well). The Taurus G3 doesn’t have any polished internal steel components, other more expensive guns do. The same thing applies for the slide finish. The Taurus is the bottom of the proverbial barrel here. The finish of the barrel in the regular Taurus is a cheap clear coat. The guide rod in the Taurus is made of polymer, but the spring also has lesser coat, and it is not nearly as reinforced as the springed guide rod on the Glock. My Taurus had already been to warranty once, none of my Glocks have, P320s, 365s have. The striker and spring housing the Taurus is also of lesser quality than other more expensive guns. My take: The Taurus will serve well for little use (but test your carry ammo, mine only seems to run Sigs Elite Defense stuff without issues). But I wouldn’t bank on it lasting 8,000- 10,000 rounds without a few trips to the warranty. The Taurus G series was not meant to be a duty gun competitor, and Taurus does not submit that gun for army police contracts for a reason.
I had a G3C for a while, which was very prone to light strikes (regardless of the ammo used). Maybe I got a lemon, but after going through multiple forums and troubleshooting videos, light strikes seems to be a common problem with Taurus. It was a decent shooter, but I finally traded it in. It was definitely not trustworthy, for me anyway.
@@Chris_the_Dingo I only use mine for dry fire practice (because of the double strike capability) these days. I don’t trust it for carry. For $400 you can go Canik which in my experience is about as reliable as Glock, but with much better features for a decent price.
i have "cheap" and "expensive" they all work...i dont care about finish or milling marks or trigger...its the operation im interested in. my weapons are power tools not showboats
Here's my 1.5 cents after tax... old rule of the thumb "expensive must be good" been out the door for a while at least for me... as to the pew pews I've been in this realm not long but from what I heard and seen your video confirms it. To me 500 dollars gun is expensive... and I fell on the band wagon of the SIG P365. Figured good solid brand, price was a bit high but buyable. Bought one of the first release... it was a problem child. Poor machining, firing pin broke, metal chips inside the slide. So I went with the Springfield Hellcat and just recently got another P356. Whatta difference from the first release. Machining is good, function flawless. So yes, manufacturer/brand not always means their product is good.
I am a Springfield and Ruger fan. The majority of my "collection" are one of those two manufacturers (some S&W and Walthers thrown in for variety). I'm just not the kind of person who will spend thousands on one firearm, when spending hundreds will do just fine. I would rather have a six hundred dollar handgun, and three thousand dollars worth of ammo...
Yours is still my favorite gun channel: no music, no politics and no drama. I invariably go middle of the road and that means Glock and S&W. They offer generally the best of both worlds.

As one who lives down in the budget levels, I thought of guns as 'cheap' (low price, low quality) or 'inexpensive' (low price, acceptable quality). For years, I carried Kel-tec micro-9s, which are definitely at the low end, but they met my need and gave good value at the time. Recently, though, I upgraded to a P365; much more expensive, but definitely a great value! The top-tier FNs, HKs, Walthers etc do not give me additional value or utility for the price.
This is the way I see it....I used to buy the $$$ guns and then I bought a Taurus G3C and its.....bloody marvelous. 0_o Shoots great, no issues, cheap....what else could you want?? An every day carry gun is going to get beat up, regardless of what it is. HERE'S THE DEAL!!!! If you carry every day, and end up needing to use your pistol, THE FIRST THING THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IS THE COPS ARE GOING TO TAKE YOUR PISTOL FROM YOU!!! SO, why give them a high dollar gun that you MAY never get back.....??? Oh yeah....i have EDC'd my G3C for years and its not got ANY rust on it, anywhere.....and it IS getting beat up pretty good....but NO rust.

I don't believe a word you wrote , you may be an NRA instructor, as am I , and I know the Hi Point is a boat anchor POS , but I also know that they work very reliably. Actually I have only seen a couple of them in classes but if that's all one can afford then so be it.
I got my Taurus (G2C) as the replacement from Taurus for my 24/7 .45. I miss that .45! It was a great pistol for me... I later got a G3 TORO ($349?). Then two. years ago on Black Friday Cabela's had a G3C for $199 but were out of them. Fortunately for me Sportsman's Warehouse honored the advertised price. I got two Taurus 12rd mags for the price of one, also! Last Black Friday (2023) Cabela's advertised the G3C for $199 again! It is hard to beat that price. None of them have ever had any issues. Unlike my Taurus PT22... An added plus is that Taurus G Series mags are SIG P226 pattern. Canik mags also work, but usually won't lock the slide back when empty. Good video! {!-{>
We call scratches, dings, and worn finish 'experienced'...now if you are a collector, or massively into buying, selling, trading I suppose a scratch can be an issue...this is wonderfully subjective...
I have an original Walther CCP in the 50,000 range and it is very cheaply manufactured. The front edge of the striker channel was very clearly hand filed with uneven sharp edges. LOTS of chatter mark on the inside of the slide. The sear and safety plunger lever have pits in them from casting. They have uneven rounded edges. The gun has functioned perfectly but is very cheaply made.
I highly highly doubt Walther in their modern German factory is hand filing striker channels. It may seem cheaply made but that's just a little too far fetched and I would have to believe that would lead to a lot of quality control issues.
The point must be made. Not everyone can afford to drop $1,000 or even $500 for a new gun. Yet those peoples Second Amendment rights and self defense rights should no more be denied by economics than they should be by politics.
I've been a gunsmith since the mid 70's and have been preaching against cheap guns ever since. Aside from the bad finish and bad trigger the metallurgy of the internal parts, springs, pins, etc. are just cheap cheap cheap. Why do you think the guns are so cheap. You will never get a high round count out of a low end gun. When I started riding bikes we used to say if you have a 90 dollar head then wear a 90 dollar helmet. If your life is worth 500 or less then go for it. I don't even know any gunsmiths that will even work on them. Buy reliability and quality and hand it down to your grandchildren.

I like the Hi-points for their weight, recoil on the 380 is close to non-existent, I am in the process of getting the C9 for the same reason. And thanks to having to punch out a pin to disassemble, Jet Li types won't be taking your gun apart on ya...
I had an FN 503. After I bought it, I noticed the machining in the slide was not symmetrical at the corners, and then the finish began flaking off the barrel, after maybe a dozen shots. FN products are mass produced and not immune to defects.
I'd add in too that alot of the cheaper pistols have more inconsistent customer service. I have a couple of buddies that have Taurus pistols and both have had parts breakages and failures. And Taurus is very spotty on when or if they'll even respond, and if they do respond they often refuse to do anything about the shoddy craftsmanship. I was surprised to see mention of getting a new barrel sent out, I've seen Taurus on numerous occasion not reply at all, or say "kick rocks, we already have your money" How good is the customer service on my Hks, Springfield, SWs, CZs, Canicks, Rugers, or berretas? 🤷♂️ I have no idea I've never had anything break on them, and have never had a reason to contact their customer service, but from what I hear they are much more responsive, and helpful if you do have to use them.
I've only had to contact Taurus customer service once, and I had no issues. I sent my firearm in, they decided to replace it, sent me the replacement, and that was that. So indeed, Taurus customer service must be YMMV.
Bro if you have never had anything break on any of those guns, you don't shoot them 🤣 Taurus is way better than canik and Ruger haha.. there's multiple Taurus rentals at my range with over 15 and 10 thousand rounds without a failure, never mind a breakage. Can't say the same for the rental Glocks and sigs with the same exact round count. I've had my HKs, glocks, sigs, infinity 2011, Taurus, desert tech, Maxim defense, FNs, oss silencer, and SWs all have to go back to the factory for different reasons. Price does not universally equal quality, quality control, customer service, tested, or performance. In fact, the worst guns I've had for review lately were FN and sig and both had disgustingly incompetent customer service. They don't care about you or your gun at all, they have gov contracts.

Expensive handguns stamp a name on the side that used to mean high quality and good performance while cheap handguns do everything the expensive ones do, often just as good or better, but they are cheaper because they don't have management making 7 figures and massively over bloated facilities. Expensive handguns also typically have government contracts which is their main source of income so they over charge for their civilian division because they don't care if you buy it or not and they know people think if the government/police use it, it must be the best 🤪
My Taurus G3c got thrown off of a third story motel balcony In the side pocket of a light leather jacket with one in the chamber and shot 12+1 fully semi automatic high velocity military grade over 9000mm rounds directly at the nearby school children who were on a field trip learning about motels that day... 😂 Lol no. It hit hard but didn't fire and still goes boom boom like a good gun to this day over a thousand rounds in.
Which component in Taurus would fail before 50,000 rounds (at which point, as I understand, barrel - even in a better handgun - might need replacement?) Springs? Striker? I myself passed on Taurus because of its trigger, and settled on CZ P-10 - which at the moment can be found cheaper than Taurus but is, in my opinion, a better made gun.
I bought my dad and myself a kel tech p17 and his will run anything and everything he puts in it. Mine on the other hand will not run anything but cci mini mags
I bought a Beretta Apx A1 full size = crappy finish, had to send it back and it took three months to get it back. Plus the takedown is horribly difficult.
My G2c is a good pocket gun....Ive got duty sized guns...1911s..cz 75....but there not pocket sized w/12rd cap.Why would anyone buy a Glock? "You could get 2 G3s for the price...I don't care for the grip angle on Glocks..I watched every gun chan. on YT...the G2 & G3 were doing 2krds. without a malfunction.. Ive owned Glocks, 36 & 19...sold em..
That's probably only a marketing glitch (I heard they produced too many in hopes to displace Glock) and won't last very long. Immensely like CZs myself.
I'm glad you touched on quality of materials used. That's a big intangible that genuinely matters. It's not just a case of cosmetics, or extras, or "paying big bucks for a brand name". Inexpensive pistols *are* cutting costs somewhere, to hit a certain price point.
Obviously, every individual should buy whatever guns they want and can afford, but consumers are quickly reaching a point of diminished returns for the money these days. I do think the black finish on Taurus guns is not so great. I remember owning multiple Taurus revolvers as a younger man that had very good blued finishes and I definitely prefer that.
Finishes wear off of all guns under use unless it's a safe queen. I have plenty of expensive guns that have had their finish worn off quickly. Glocks have cheap low end plastic sights and thats your baseline for a quality firearm.
Will I buy a FN? No, absolutely no, nothing special for a lot of money and hard to get value. back. SW and Glock are good to excellent quality at a. lot cheaper price.
LEO and Pro Shooters require quality weapons due to the obvious. While the average citizen needs a reliable affordable weapon. Your terms seem used to attract views.
It's a weird fantasy thing that's been growing in the firearm owners' ranks. They seem to believe that adding a lot of expensive, useless junk to their guns will turn them into John Wick.
If you plan on shooting 5000 rounds during your life time get a Taurus. If you are going to shoot 5000 rounds a year get a Glock or a handgun in that price range.

From experience, don't run steel or aluminum ammunition through it.

imma be real, the Taurus G3 is absolutely great for how much it costs.
My sample of the TX22 did not foul, had good rifling and was very accurate, it never malfunctioned in 3 years, over 700+ rounds through it.
The difference is that an expensive gun hurts more

I see so many magnet fishers pulling Taurus and hi-points and ruger out of the river. You don't ever see a FN or an HK being pulled out of rivers.

FNs are wayyyyy overpriced. They have the worst .57 on the market - the PSA Rock is less than half the price and it's more reliable.
You believe that "alot" is a word. You might want to consider dropping the 420, veg.
Expensive handguns stamp a name on the side that used to mean high quality and good performance while cheap handguns do everything the expensive ones do, often just as good or better, but they are cheaper because they don't have management making 7 figures and massively over bloated facilities.
Expensive handguns also typically have government contracts which is their main source of income so they over charge for their civilian division because they don't care if you buy it or not and they know people think if the government/police use it, it must be the best 🤪
My Taurus G3c got thrown off of a third story motel balcony In the side pocket of a light leather jacket with one in the chamber and shot 12+1 fully semi automatic high velocity military grade over 9000mm rounds directly at the nearby school children who were on a field trip learning about motels that day... 😂 Lol no. It hit hard but didn't fire and still goes boom boom like a good gun to this day over a thousand rounds in.
Which component in Taurus would fail before 50,000 rounds (at which point, as I understand, barrel - even in a better handgun - might need replacement?)

I myself passed on Taurus because of its trigger, and settled on CZ P-10 - which at the moment can be found cheaper than Taurus but is, in my opinion, a better made gun.
I bought my dad and myself a kel tech p17 and his will run anything and everything he puts in it. Mine on the other hand will not run anything but cci mini mags

I bought a Beretta Apx A1 full size = crappy finish, had to send it back and it took three months to get it back. Plus the takedown is horribly difficult.

I own both and don't think the FN is worth 3x the price as the G3c. Bought the FN first, but would not have if the G3c had come first.
My G2c is a good pocket gun....Ive got duty sized guns...1911s..cz 75....but there not pocket sized w/12rd cap.Why would anyone buy a Glock? "You could get 2 G3s for the price...I don't care for the grip angle on Glocks..I watched every gun chan. on YT...the G2 & G3 were doing 2krds. without a malfunction.. Ive owned Glocks, 36 & 19...sold em..

Taurus is a great gun for the money. It will do 95% of what a more expensive gun will do including saving your life in a self-defense situation.
Caniks are inexpensive and it shoots perfectly. That said, I typically have no interest in Taurus products.
Given how cheap the CZ P10 series are these days, I dont see the point of recommend anything that's cheaper.
That's probably only a marketing glitch (I heard they produced too many in hopes to displace Glock) and won't last very long. Immensely like CZs myself.
I'm glad you touched on quality of materials used. That's a big intangible that genuinely matters. It's not just a case of cosmetics, or extras, or "paying big bucks for a brand name". Inexpensive pistols *are* cutting costs somewhere, to hit a certain price point.
Obviously, every individual should buy whatever guns they want and can afford, but consumers are quickly reaching a point of diminished returns for the money these days. I do think the black finish on Taurus guns is not so great. I remember owning multiple Taurus revolvers as a younger man that had very good blued finishes and I definitely prefer that.

Finishes wear off of all guns under use unless it's a safe queen. I have plenty of expensive guns that have had their finish worn off quickly.
Glocks have cheap low end plastic sights and thats your baseline for a quality firearm.

Will I buy a FN? No, absolutely no, nothing special for a lot of money and hard to get value. back. SW and Glock are good to excellent quality at a. lot cheaper price.
After carry wipe off with oily cloth good to go no rust takes 30 seconds no big deal!!

It's a weird fantasy thing that's been growing in the firearm owners' ranks. They seem to believe that adding a lot of expensive, useless junk to their guns will turn them into John Wick.
Pay for tactical if you want. I love the look of threaded barrels, optics, serrations, etc.... I would rather be overwhelmed than underwhelmed!

If you plan on shooting 5000 rounds during your life time get a Taurus. If you are going to shoot 5000 rounds a year get a Glock or a handgun in that price range.
Makes sense, considering 5000 rounds are worth at least $1250 these days.
