Excellent video! The best I have found on the net! The most complete explanation and configuration detail of my new camera. Just what I was looking for! Greetings!
This has to be the best Sony A7S3 setup video on UA-cam by far and trust me I've watched them all! Coming from Canon I own both the SL2 and RP I thought I would never be able to set up my Sony. You took your time and explained everything like I was a two-year-old. I now have my Sony fully set up including the costume buttons 1 2 3. While I haven't learned to color grade and don't use PP I did set my custom 3 button to your profile and eventually plan to learn. Thank you so much. I got this camera as a Christmas present and it was fast becoming a very expensive paperweight. I no longer fear this camera.
Hey, Anona, thank you for that. I don't shoot weddings so I'd probably be the last person you'd want to take adivice from on that. Check out this channel -> "Matt WhoisMatt Johnson", it might help ya!
Very informative and helpful thank you. Important question for me personally though and something I've struggled to find elsewhere but saw on your menu; where on the Sony A7SIII can I find the option to turn off AF w/shutter? Thanks.
I'll get back to you tomorrow on that when I get back to my camera. I think it is on the AF/MF tab though... Thanks for checking out the video - good to hear that it was helpful for you
@@seandewispelaere unfortunately only when in photographic mode. When in video mode the options isn't available under the same Autofocus page. And I can't find it anywhere else. Any advice?
I think that I know what the issue is here. I'm assuming that you're trying to find this setting while the camera is in come kind of video mode. The menu changes if you're in photo or video mode. Go into a photo mode and go to the purple af/mf menu and then the "AF w/ Shutter" is on the first tab at the bottom. Let me know if this solves it for ya.
You seem to have a solid setup. Just got my A7S3 yesterday and am actively looking for some custom button config idea's. I've seen a few out there on the tube, and this one i like the most... Subbed.
@@seandewispelaere yea, your button setup really makes sense! P.S - Do you think it's possible to use IBIS +stabilization of the Sony lenses, and just slap the A7S3 on a shoulder rig and get real smooth walking shot (fake) dolly in/out moves thanks to all those stabilization systems combined?
Fantastic introduction! Being new to the a7Siii and Sony in general, it is clear there is a lot to learn. As a Canon user I find the Sony menu's not as intuitive, so your video was a fountain of information, Thank you. I shoot Real Estate footage most the time, which has lead me to the Sony a7Siii for the dynamic range capabilities. All my Best, Mark P. S. by any chance do you know a HACK to get this a7Siii to communicate with a Zhiyun, Crane S2 Gimbal? I was very spoiled using the Canon as if gave me all the Canon controls in the body of the gimbal, ( shutter speed, ISO, f-stop, record and focus pull) but the older Canon just does not hold a candle to the new a7Siii when it comes to film quality. Thanks again.

You have probably figured it out by now but for anyone else, you click on where it says follow custom, and on the right side panel it is the 5th option down.
W/ your C3 button setting, does turning off the display and only sending it to the viewfinder help save battery life? Like if you get a shot and you know you can let it sit while it records. So you toggle the monitor off to save battery power. Does that work?
Hi Sean thank you for your video work. One question for you please; Can I set the movie record frame rate to a button? (Or add it to the dial on the back where display is) Or, add it to the Fn menu?
Hey Roz, I don’t think so. Closest thing in my experience is to set it in the custom menu, unfortunately. Hopefully there is a way in an upcoming firmware update.
Awesome work as usual man. Quick tip - if you get an Elgato Cam Link, or something similar, you can feed the entire LCD display (as opposed to a clean feed that you'd normally use with an external recorder) so you can record your screen selections. That'd allow you to do some sort of PIP of the menu as you go through settings and still film yourself. Either way, it works, but this may be something neat to try.
