I can't thank you enough for all the information you have provided on hotspots! We were at a rally in the fall and couldn't get online with our hotspot or our phones. (We didn't even have enough signal to make a phone call.) We just thought we were in a dead spot because of the mountains until another camper said they were able to get on without problems. The info in your videos and guides lead us to upgrade from our 6620L to an 8800L with utterly amazing results!! We have been extremely pleased in both urban, congested areas and remote rural areas. We are getting very good at window searching (we have an Airstream) to find the best spot and then we are off and running. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into explaining the different options and testing the different pieces of technology!
I just called Verizon the other day and said I live in a huge house with a metal roof out in the forest. He sent me the smallest jetpack you show there. I would have gladly paid for the higher end one. I still have a couple of days left to return it. This video is very valuable. Thank you so much for taking the time to do the video and I will be checking out your website. We have Centurylink DSL. I did a speed test the other day and the download wasn't even up to 1. :-( I'm just looking for other options as cable is not out here and most likely will not be. Again thank you.
I too went to the Verizon store and walked out with that small one, I only paid $5.00. It's not worth taking it back & paying the 'restocking fee'. But we will check out some better ones.
You two did an absolutely amazing job of explaining this!!! Love how you went "old school" to explain the new! That really helped me! Love how you took turns teaching! BRAVO!
Excellent info, because of your video I purchased the 8800L and am your latest new subscriber. Will be doing a 6 week cross country trip and have to be uploading to you tube atleast 1 video a day. Very well done
DAMN I like you people! Thank you for not being shills that are just trying to sell something. Thank you for breaking down the information so that we can make better informed decisions to figure out what might work best for us. Much love
I've been rockin' my 6620L since early 2016. I thought I was happy (it has worked well for me) but you have convinced me to upgrade. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
It only matters if the tower you are trying to connect to is using the other frequencies and if it is going to give you the higher speeds and not throttle the max speed you get even though your router is capable of faster speeds!! For example I am currently using a device that is capable of 150MPS and the max speed I am getting is 25 MPS from my current tower which is a speed even the oldest cat 3 hotspot can receive!! Unless they do a couple hundred speed tests over varying times their test iis meaningless as I can do 5 speed tests back to back on the same device and get huge differences in just a few seconds!
fantastic video! I've been looking at DOZENS of videos, trying to find this exact info, presented in this straight forward way! Kudos! I'm a new subscriber for sure!
Based on this video, I upgraded from the ellipsis jetpack to the MiFi 8800L (Though I kept the ellipsis also. I just added another line). The difference? 65mps with the ellipsis compared to 433mps with the MiFi 8800L. Thanks!!!
Love your channel, so helpful and it really assisted me with my choice of jetpacks. Who knew about LTE levels was going to choice the 3 and now getting the 18. You both are amazing and I will always watch!!!
All the info was helpful, but the point about the RV specific units (i.e. Winegard) was eye opening. "Future-proof" is a good phrase to have in the back of my head while shopping. Thank you.
I live out in the rural area where getting normal internet is not an option. I have a choice between, Hughes net, and multiple other crappy satellite internet, been looking for a year, and found that Verizon's Mifi works really well! I have the best one they have the 8800L Jetpack and it exceeds far better than I expected, paired with their Pay as you go 70 dollar Unlimited plan, and it works amazingly since I do upload youtube videos, streaming is a bit iffy when playing a game and sending it to youtube, but it's far better than what I expected it to be. I have a Cricket phone, that gets less speed and this is an ATT area, which is interesting. While I get nearly 50-60 in home, and in town I get nearly 100 download on LTE, once 5G comes in, I'll be so happy.
Any thoughts on buying a used (in new condition) 8800L? There are plenty available, with some buyer beware. Has the physical hardware changed since it was introduced or does it just need a firmware update?
So in a sense if you take the 8800L with multi-band capability, but then connect a twin coax MIMO external antenna, you're essentially throttling it back a bit in terms of bands, i.e.: it will only "see" the bands that come through that MIMO antenna.......
Thank you for the educational video. I’m an RVer from SoCal. I recently bought a new RV and put a new Winegard system on top (before I saw your video) I was wondering, if I have a T-Mobile account (MetroPCS). Would I be better off buying from T-Mobile’s range of personal WiFi devices or can I shop around the different carriers or 3rd party for connection/price? My thinking is, if they are “like” devices (T-Mobile carrier & hotspot) they will “hardware handshake“ seamlessly and be less problematic. Again, thank you for the informative video. Edward
I found it amazing that you were considering the 8800L as a "flagship" option. Just yesterday I pulled it off my system and was wondering how much I could get for it on Craigslist... I bought the device about six weeks after it came out and have been using it for the last 13 months or so. Since then, I've traveled from Boston to Naples, across the central US, to Denver and then through Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas and currently New Mexico. All of the places I've stopped at I've used the Open Signal app to identify the strongest nearby tower(s), climbed to the top of the rig and adjusted an omnidirectional antenna, and then dickered with the reception on my desktop. The best speed I've been able to obtain on the PC using Speedtest is always less than 0.7 Mbps for both upload and download -- and that's with a 400.00 WeBoost signal booster (thus, the antenna). One of the issues I've had with the 8800L is that I/ve never been able to tell what speeds it's actually capturing. The MyJetpack software shows only two arrows -- one up and one down, moving across the top of the screen; not very informative at best... (How did you get your values for the three modems toward the end of the video? I'd like to try them out!) After setting the modem aside, I swapped it out for my iPhone, to which I downloaded Speedtest. I was amazed to find that, with the booster, I was getting speeds of 40/50 Mbps, down and up. Still, there must be something that I'm missing. Using a USB Realtek Wireless Lan attached to the desktop, I'm still realizing less than a Mbps when tested on the PC. Should you or anyone in the community have some suggestions, I'd love to hear them...
Yeah its likely a throttled data plan. A lot of them drop to 100-600 Kbps once the soft cap is passed. I know our hotspot was all but completely worthless once we were throttled. Instead of saying that once you pass a certain amount of data "your speeds will be complete garbage" or "you'll think you are back on dial up in 1995" they tell you their plan offers "unlimited data." Which is technically true, in the same way that a vacation on a landfill will be "breathtaking."
That's crazy. Living nyc i see 15 to 20 down on my ellipsis. I can't even picture what 8800L can accomplish. As a persons being grandfathered regarding the former Verzion prepaid deal you guys have me excited on making that switch. My ellipsis,he needs to rest now. He has served me very well.
I have AT&T I had a grandfather plan not holding up to their bargain with poor cell coverage. They act like they don’t even have or had any such devices. So how did u keep your unlimited All on your account? Did the give you a booster device or or have to pay? And to keep your plan ??
Thank you for the info. I am a truck driver that travels in different States from coast to coast. I still am using the cat 4 you showed. I would like to upgrade but now with 5g on the horizon should i wait?
Thanks for all your info on the 8800l. I went to two Verizon stores in central Washington, one in Oregon and my persistence paid off when I got to southern Arizona. I finally found a Verizon store that would help me get set up with an account and setup my 8800l. Most didn't know about the 8800l and wanted to charge over the $65 for the prepaid unlimited plan. On quote was over $80. I really like the jetpack I got. The performance is great.
Great video and super educational. How would you say the Winegard GW-1000 Gateway 4G LTE WiFi Router compares to the higher end Verizon 8800 you talked about ?
Yep, the Verizon store clerk brought out the $50 low end device while asserting TOUCH SCREEN was the advantage of the more costly device. Her training must have consisted of a five minute chat over coffee. Of course I knew there was more to learn.
My mom was pretty much told the exact same things. She moved out to BFE and that crappy little jetpack was the only internet source. I knew there had to be better devices. Hell, the netgear nighthawk m1 had been out over a year by then and there was an AT&T store right next door to the verizon store.
It's adequate for about a moderate sized room. And yes, mobile routers can pair with it: www.rvmobileinternet.com/routers (keep in mind, we focus on RVers and boaters, not houses.)
We track the information in our hotspot gear center - our LTE modem guide mentioned in this video will take you there - www.rvmobileinternet.com/lte-modems
I have a lake home that is on the other end of town from the nearest cellular towers. So I need the best reception I can get and external antennas would probably help in the window. I am currently looking for my best option. Verizon @ $65 or AT&T through Netbuddy at $60 which I think is tax included. Do you have an AT&T hotspot shootout like this one?
How can I go about this for gaming on prepaid? Buy an 8800 online then a Sim card plan from Verizon? Or is the 8800 only contract based directly from verizon?
Here's our guide to selecting antennas: www.rvmobileinternet.com/cellularantennas - if you're one of our members, please do follow up in our forums if you have additional questions.
Thanks so much. I have an Elypsis presently and although in general it has worked well, I know I will need better now that I am full time RV’g. Your video certainly helped me better understand what is going on when I stream.
Great channel and reviews are clear as day anybody who doesn't understand tech lingo can understand with no problem...great job you two...I just subscribed, thank you for your time and keep doing what you do....this is a trust worthy site to any one new and worth subscribing to...take care be safe and may your needs be met when needed....
This video was extremely helpful! I'm at the complete novice end of the spectrum and now I fee like I know enough to make an educated purchase. Thank you so much for demystifying this process for me!
Question: Here is my situation, I have ATT internet at my house and it is horrible 1.5 download and 0.4 upload. They are the only provider for home internet in my area. Verizon coverage is pretty good in my area. I am wanting to take the 8800L with an external antenna, that is in a tree, and use that instead. I would also want to connect a modem to it so I could connect an ethernet cable. What are your thoughts on this? is there a better option? Thanks for the informative video
It's hard to guess from afar what will work best at any given location. We are focused on mobile folks (RVers and cruisers) building a versatile redundant setup.
You are so helpful! I am technologically ILLITERATE. I am desperately searching for an internet option for our son who's home doesn't have any internet options. He is a quadriplegic who NEEDS internet. He cannot move anything below his head and cannot use assistive technologies without internet. For example, using Alexa to turn on a device, or to call someone in another room for help. So, he has an AT&T phone right now.. Does he need a Verizon account? I am still confused about how to proceed but hopeful that this may be the answer.
We're focused on mobile internet solutions for RVers and boaters.. stationary home internet is another challenge, and there are likely different options available to you. They're outside our scope.
thanks for all the great information but i wanted your opinion on the new at&t connect for airstream and the new to go winegard. do you think i should just forget about bought fixed in rv system and just go with a portable flagship 8800L.
We have articles & videos on the Airstream and ToGo options as well.. they're on the resource center and easily searchable. If you're one of our premium members, feel free to start a thread in the forums and we'll be happy to help you decide what is best for you.
I am planning to buy the 8800L and am curious which booster works best with it (I have a WeeBoost cradle with stubby antenna) -- OR -- is it better just to use external antennas?
That will depend on the local signal conditions. We'll be working the 8800L into our booster & antenna testing this year. For now, we have tons of data on various boosters and antennas for our members using the 7730. www.rvmobileinternet.com/lab
Jetpack ELLIPSIS was about $199.99 awesome top pick, and for the Prepaid Sim Kit its only 25% of the Verizon Wireless Home Fios. The only available offer device was the Verizon Wifi, or TWC Spectrum 30 minutes Trial, but my favorite is the "LENOVO STICKR"..
The Ellipsis was a very entry level LTE mobile hotspot device, and typically priced under $100. It's no longer offered by Verizon direct, to the best of our knowledge.
I would like to get internet in a metal building. I have a WirEng mimo antenna outside and a Mofi4500 LTE verizon router inside. It won't work with my phone sim so what exactly do I need to get internet?
Great video, thank you again. Curious what plan you have on the 8800L? I have that hotspot, sitting in Brunswick,GA at the Coastal GA RV Resort and I'm getting snail speed. Like less than 1mbp/s. I have the pre-paid on it. I called Verizon they worked on it over the phone and said it has to be the towers, and that I'm in a Roaming area. They said Pre-paid plan is not good in a Roaming area. Would you all mind confirming?
We have both a gUDP and pUDP - both plans now retired. We were just in Brunswick ourselves (at the marina) and were regularly getting 20-30 mbps down on both.
I have a Wifi Ranger on my new 2019 Thor Miramar 35.2 motorhome, would the Verizon 8800l Jetpack be a better choice than using my wifiranger? all we want to do is watch 3 or 4 hours of Netflix every night when on the road. Our 15g hotspot iPhone is maxed out after the 2nd or 3 rd night?
WifiRanger and an 8800L are completely different types of equipment. Video streaming is one of the most bandwidth intensive things you can do on the internet - more on this: www.rvmobileinternet.com/tv
Mobile Internet Resource Center This video is actually NOT about “Hotspots in general”. If it was, then you should have titled it so. You made a video called “Which Jetpack is best” that’s not a general explanation on hotspots, No! You’re directly comparing them and I asked a general question on the use of these products so I’m not exactly sure what your point was. You made a video titled “which jet pack is best” My question falls right into that category, a Jetpack with more data options makes it more versatile which would in turn make it more valuable... Next time maybe just say “we don’t know”, that would be a much better answer
Hi, I'd really appreciate some advice. Hubby & I are about to start full-timing, working at campgrounds in a couple months. We've always had T-Mobile living near cities- of course with little issues. Yet, going forward, we'll be in rural areas & have considered switching to Verizon for better coverage. We do have the best plan with T-Mobile that would be difficult to let go, though -the TMO ONE All In Promo. We looked into their basic Hotspot: the Coolpad Surf & found out they don't allow adding it to our plans anyway. We were wondering if it's possible to open an account with just the Jetpack from Verizon to use with our T-Mobile phones while keeping our plans with them? Also, a newbie question- would a Jetpack serve as both a cell booster & also be our own personal WiFi (as long as there is any cell signal)? I know it's not just a plain WiFi booster. If the Verizon Jetpack would not work with our T-Mobile phones/plans on the road, would you suggest a cell booster like WeBoost & a seperate WiFi booster instead? The simpler & least complicated, the better! Thank you so much in advance for your help, we really appreciate you guys!
Sounds like you have some confusion over what a Jetpack is.. recommend you go to this basic guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/mifi - they are not cell or Wi-Fi boosters, but personal hotspot devices. And then when ready, proceed to our Overview guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/overview
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Ok, thank you- I understand a Jetpack is a personal WiFi or Hotspot, also called MiFi. What we want to make sure is if we got the Jetpack from Verizon, to use our T-Mobile phones,so we can keep our plan, would it be just like using WiFi at a Starbucks? We haven't heard anyone say it didn't matter or if you had to be using a Verizon phone or be on their plans to use their Jetpack . Thanks again!
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter What we were thinking is getting Verizon's $65 Prepaid Unlimited Hotspot Plan & keeping our T-mobile ONE All In Promo plans. Would that work together? ... I really appreciate your quick responses & advice :)
Would this be something we can use at home instead of our cable internet connection? Thinking about ditching all of the cable. We only watch streaming stations like Netflix. Great to also be able to take in the RV.
the verizon elipsis hotspot i got 2 summers ago doesnt even look like any of the variety you have but since it doesnt even have a screen and only cost 100 dollars, probably a low grade one. i am almost glad that it cant do higher speeds tho since i use it as a back up on the 2 gig for 35 dollars for 2 months plan. that way being slow, it cant use up all my gigs in one high speed video. and what about verizon rolling out the 5g models? will that make all our old 4g model hot spots obsolete?
Very informative. Thank you. But two things. First, the information your referring to (e.g. cat, or how many antennas) is not listed in the descriptions (at least not on Amazon). Secondly, and SUPER IMPORTANT, is that you didn't mention whether they require a sim card or not. Otherwise, it is what I have been looking for for the last couple of hours. So BIG THANKS!
Every cellular device requires a SIM card (that's standard), and we list category on every single gear center entry for devices we track over at the resource center - rvmobileinternet.com/gear
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Checked out the website - very helpful thanks. Glocalme has protable wifi hotspots that don't require the purchase of a sim card. Not really sure how the access to the network works or what the costs are. Thanks for the information and your reply
This is an independent stand alone plan.. doesn't matter what other plans you have. As to if you'll be able to use it while camping, is totally dependent on the Verizon signal where you camp.
from tests did you get the same ping from all three devices from verizon? ive tested the 8800L and the orbic speed and the orbic speed got way better ping 167ping and orbic speed got 70
Thanks for all the information, simple and well put together video. Hopefully more people can see this and make an information decision about what to buy.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Thank you, I could not see on Amazon for example but this is new to me so I guess I will learn to discover,,, I have been following you and bought a few 6 years ago since I began full time, you were my firsts, I bought your book but lack time to study, I am from Canada, traveling solo with my cat,, it's a busy life!! :-0). I am heading west soon, see you guys maybe ☺️😽.
Cellmapper utilizes crowd-sourced data and is incomplete. It can sometimes be useful but should not be considered a definitive source on tower configuration. We have more info in our guide: www.rvmobileinternet.com/guides/finding-cellular-coverage/
Hey I'm going to be working in West Texas at a power plant in the middle of nowhere. Id love to know which jetpack you'd recommend I know at&t does not work out there. It says no signal would u recommend the Verizon jetpack ?
Here's our overview of it: www.rvmobileinternet.com/gear/review-novatel-4620l-mobile-hotspot-mifi-jetpack/ - it's extremely old and pretty much obsolete
If only third party resellers, and Verizon Wireless itself took the time like this to inform its customers before making a purchase. I just wonder now if I’d still have access to the new network technology by upgrading my Verizon Wireless Jetpack with a PrePaid account.
True Hope Sometimes prepaid accounts don’t access to newer technologies on the network. But this was an older comment. I have since discovered that as long as your device can connect and handle the newer tech on the network, then you’ll have access. Prepaid or Postpaid doesn’t matter. Verizon is a very good network.
Does anyone know if Verizon has ever offered a jetpack with lifetime service. The reason I ask is because I'm in the used computer business and I come across used jetpacks all the time when I get them I turn them on to see if there's any service usually there is not occasionally some may have service but usually turns off within a month. However I do have one that has had continuous 4G service over seven years. Originally it was a USB modem and I have since broken that device then move the SIM card to other USB modems and jetpacks. I have recently got a jetpack AC791L. Messages on the device indicate that it has been and storage and has not not been used since 2018. It has active 4G service. I have never heard of Verizon having accounts with lifetime service. So as soon these must be from large corporate accounts, that have not audited their equipment and services.
We've never encountered a lifetime service option with Verizon, or any carrier other than the very limited “Free Data for Life” 200MB/mo plan T-Mobile used to offer on tablets.
To to much info. I have a sure call rv setup with omni directional roof mount ant. and use it for cell calls , iPad searching and streaming stuff like Netflix using my cell phone hot spot 15 megabytes . Is any of this beneficial to me. now home base Florida
Thank you for your videos very informative. We just purchased a new DP motorhome. I plan on setting it up to go over the road a couple months out of the year not completely full time. So we'd like to have are Wi-Fi working the best that we can get it today. Definitely will be picking up Verizon's hotspot 8800. We were also looking at the weboost Drive 4gx RV antenna. Your Videos suggest Netgear mimo is just as good for $27 on Amazon. Went to get it out of stock but now it's back $150 plus shipping. Do I really need an external antenna if I have the Hotspot 8800. Just plan on streaming movies surfing the net and good cell phone coverage. appreciate your help. We will be becoming members shortly. Thank you Bob & Michelle NJ
It's hard to say what you 'need'. Cellular boosters and MIMO antennas both have their place in a mobile internet setup. Here's our full guide to that: www.rvmobileinternet.com/cellularsignal
Try this source for your Netgear Mimo antenna. I believe it was Chris and Cherie who posted this source awhile back. www.macmall.com/p/NETGEAR-Wireless-Networking/product~dpno~40686168~pdp.bccdgjag?src=search&fbclid=IwAR15w3Kpoohf3PAnjFbm1xg09GJ7iVTfKEflSYkSdCyKq9_0DmVpoTmVabA&cjevent=6ce9cee32e0c11e9817c02c60a1c0e0e
Got the new Verizon 8800l prepaid and every since my second billing cycle it has dropped connection all the time. At first was great getting 50 down and 6-8 up all the tine no issues. Got a second one still same thing. I think I may have noticed the issue and may be a software problem or glitch in system . Every tine it drops my connection my data supply on screen says 10240 mb of 10240 mb data used. As soon as I restart goes back to normal. It’s like after you use it for a while it thinks you have used all your data and then it shuts off. This is the unlimited plan so that should not be an issue. Any thoughts
Thank you very much for this. I had a Verizon Ellipsis and it got horrible reception when people with a Verizon phone right next to me had 4 bars. Now I know why.
That you enjoy them ! If you have mobile internet questions and you're a member, then please do ask in our forums (and be much more specific about what you seek.)
I was wondering if anybody could had an answer. I have the sprint mifi inseego 8000. It would get about 23mbps down and 5 up but the wifi range sucked and it didnt have an ethernet port and it would drop me off wifi often. I bought the mofi4500 but I only get 16mbps down and 10up with 2 wilson mimo antennas. Just to compare apples I plugged my mifi into the same antenna setup and was getting 34mbps down and 12mbps up. I was wondering if anybody knew why my speeds are slower with the mofi. Unless sprints throttles speeds because the sim is for the mofi?
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter that I get..but I'm referring to sprints inseego 8000. The mofi supports all the bands...and there is no carrier aggregation on my tower. I guess what do the new ones have that the mofi doesnt ?
The device requires a data plan and, being cellular-based, performance will vary by location and time. More info here: ua-cam.com/video/_PggQ7F6F8c/v-deo.html

Most antennas on the market are wideband. But you are reducing the 8800L from internal 4x4 to external 2x2 MIMO.
Very informative and well done video! TYVM 💪
Edward
MetroPCS locks their data plans to their particular hotspot. Other plans and devices vary what they're available for.
I have a question
How do you connect these modem to a router
Here's our guide to mobile routers: www.rvmobileinternet.com/routers
That’s odd. We get awesome speeds with ours all over the place. Either you have a throttled data plan, or a broken unit.
Nationwide 5G outside of urban areas is still a ways off.

this definitely helps to make an informed decision especially now that they're rolling out 5G. Thank you!
The performance is great.
great video thanks , can you tell me if the verizon jet pack 5510 is a dinosaur , should i toss it or can it be updated?
Yup.... pretty ancient.
It doesn't get better than this!JUST AMAZING video.i subscribed and I so happy I found your channel guys.thank you thank you thank you!
Great video and super educational. How would you say the Winegard GW-1000 Gateway 4G LTE WiFi Router compares to the higher end Verizon 8800 you talked about ?
The Gateway is a low end Cat-4 modem.
You guys are amazing..I love your channel..I greatly appreciate all you have taught me!!
How good is the wifi range on 8800l? Want to use it for the house. Or can you connect an external router to it?
It's adequate for about a moderate sized room. And yes, mobile routers can pair with it: www.rvmobileinternet.com/routers (keep in mind, we focus on RVers and boaters, not houses.)
finally very very good informative and honest suggestions. very nice. well done!!!

Do you suggest constant charging of hotspot or to let it discharge?

Hey, would you guys recommend using one of these for live streaming to sites like Facebook using multiple cams?
We use them in our own live-streaming.
How can I go about this for gaming on prepaid? Buy an 8800 online then a Sim card plan from Verizon? Or is the 8800 only contract based directly from verizon?
There are prepaid Jetpack plans. Current best option is 30GB for $65/mo.

@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Okey, thanks.

I’m reading reviews for the 8800L on verizon and people are saying its crap and always disconnects. Any recommendations on which one to purchase?
Disconnect issues were corrected over a year ago. More on the 8800L - www.rvmobileinternet.com/8800l
Very informative thank you. But how do you remove the antenna plugs on the 8800l Jetpack thanks again.
With a fingernail usually works.
Thank you. My plugs were below the surface. Finally i punctured them with a sewing needle and pried them out. Thanks again. George
A SIM eject tool is also a great option to use.
I have a mifi ellipsis jetpack MHS800L...is that obsolete?
It's the predecessor to the MHS900L shown here.
Mobile Internet Resource Center thank you, great video👍
Thanks for the clear explanation.
Would that work for example on a road trip? Also is there any monthly subscriptions to Verizon?
Yes, you would need a data plan for these devices to work.
For a particular location, it is difficult to predict. Here's our guide on that: www.rvmobileinternet.com/stationary
Thx! I bought a 8800L with Sim and activated it. Still waiting for connection though.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Interesting. Thank you! Not sure why I'm not getting good speed on Hotspot. I do on my phone, just not on Hotspot.
Do you know if any of these are compatible with European networks too? Cherie said international (6:10) but specifically France, Spain, Italy.
Some are designated Global, but you need to compare frequency bands supported to the bands of your carrier.
U need to check the bands u will figure out check the chinese routers like Huawei b618 is a good one support major bands also
I have a Wifi Ranger on my new 2019 Thor Miramar 35.2 motorhome, would the Verizon 8800l Jetpack be a better choice than using my wifiranger? all we want to do is watch 3 or 4 hours of Netflix every night when on the road.
Do you need to have a contract with verizon to use this? Or can I take my SIM card out of my T-Mobile or AT&T device and use that?
This video is about hotspots in general.
Yikes
can i buy the 7730 on amazon and then use that jetpack to get verizon prepaid internet?
Verizon does allow bring your own device.
awesome vid. very straight forward, the comparison between the old and new tech is a big difference.
All depends on the plans you select.
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter What we were thinking is getting Verizon's $65 Prepaid Unlimited Hotspot Plan & keeping our T-mobile ONE All In Promo plans. Would that work together? ... I really appreciate your quick responses & advice :)

What about performance between 8800L stand-alone to adding external mimo antenna?
That's an entirely different topic. We have testing results for that available to our members in our 8800L review: www.rvmobileinternet.com/8800l
Would this be something we can use at home instead of our cable internet connection? Thinking about ditching all of the cable. We only watch streaming stations like Netflix. Great to also be able to take in the RV.
If you have great Verizon signal, and don't mind 720p video and aren't in a congested market.. perhaps. We focus on mobile however. :)
the verizon elipsis hotspot i got 2 summers ago doesnt even look like any of the variety you have but since it doesnt even have a screen and only cost 100 dollars, probably a low grade one. i am almost glad that it cant do higher speeds tho since i use it as a back up on the 2 gig for 35 dollars for 2 months plan. that way being slow, it cant use up all my gigs in one high speed video. and what about verizon rolling out the 5g models? will that make all our old 4g model hot spots obsolete?
Hi, does 5510l mifi jetpack have gsm mode?
Thanks
That's an older device that pre-dates our coverage.... recommend a Google search to find the tech specs.

Nice videos! You have a new subscriber.
If I have At&t cell phone #6 I phone can the pick up a version hotspot on the 8800 when rv camping in our casita ?
Why wouldn't you be able to?
Just asking not up on all the connections
This is an independent stand alone plan.. doesn't matter what other plans you have. As to if you'll be able to use it while camping, is totally dependent on the Verizon signal where you camp.
from tests did you get the same ping from all three devices from verizon? ive tested the 8800L and the orbic speed and the orbic speed got way better ping 167ping and orbic speed got 70
The Orbic receives far fewer frequency bands than that 880L.. so at your location, that probably is making a difference.
Thanks for all the information, simple and well put together video. Hopefully more people can see this and make an information decision about what to buy.

Are you saying that the jetpack will not work as well if it is tethered to Verizon?
I was going to do that, but now I'm not so sure

I was wondering if anybody knew why my speeds are slower with the mofi. Unless sprints throttles speeds because the sim is for the mofi?
The 8800L is a Cat 18 modem, the Mofi a Cat 6.
