I find it funny how Civil War was what introduced Spider-Man to the MCU, when Civil War is probably one of the most infamous Spider-Man stories because it led to One More Day.
The finished film is really a testament to how talented the creative team was in bringing together such a packed, content-rich film, that not only adapts one of the most iconic comic storylines, but also introduces a host of new characters, and still works as a Captain America film, prioritizing real personal drama over a larger-scale. I do really like the original Madbomb story, and Marvel should consider reworking it into a future film - I think the plot device is open enough that it can work in say a Spider-Man movie that pushes both Peter and New York to their limits. Or they could always save it for Cap's next film - either way, it works as a great plot device, that puts an emphasis on the people and gives the hero a real moral dilemma to think about, as well as loads of (Kingsman-inspired) action sequences that feel more meaningful, rather than simply another end of the world conundrum. Forcing the character to fail near the 3rd act and face their fear of the impending threat.
Winter Soldier was a killer story! The intensity and the politics. It was perfectly blended. Going from that to the Mad bomb story would have been a let down. As it only address the superhero aspect. When what made WS a great story was its psychological conflict. How your own can turn against you when time comes. Kevin Feign made a smart decision by having making it war between two heroes. Carrying over the same political intensity as WS. The theme echoed. Giving it the flare of perfect continuity. WS, CW, IW are perfect continuity story. Seamlessly connecting with each other. This is the reason why Infinity Saga become fan favourite. Multiverse Saga is lacking this type of conhesiveness. By the way, special thanks to WB for announcing BvS. It's only because of them Kevin Feign got that idea.
Perlmutter is just a perfect example of how movie businessmen are bad at business, like Marvel would suck if Black Panther was never introduced and its so dumb to imagine a civil war movie with HULK of all people being for the Sokovia Accords lol
Not so sure about that. Look at longterm effects, sure there were issues but ultimately he kept everyone and quality reigned in. After he left it quickly went downhill. This type of relationship needed to function well isn't new, either. Bungie and Microsoft relationship regarding Halo games was incredibly similar.
Especially since Nat and Tony confirm in the movie that Hulk would’ve been on Cap’s side. Plus being for the Accords goes against everything Banner stood for at the time as he always wanted to be alone in stress free environments or only be used as a last resort
As much as I love civil war I always felt like we were robbed of a proper Cap 3 movie. Mad Bomb is perhaps one of his most iconic silver age stories, and had a nature that lended itself well to the political thriller style of winter soldier, so it's a shame it was ultimately left on the cutting room floor. It would have been nice to get a proper cap 3 between civil war and infinity war, with cap, falcon, bucky, and black widow having to balance taking on a criminal conspiracy and also having to deal with the fact that they're fugitives.
I agree. Had it been up to me. AOU and Civil War would be a two-parter avengers disassembled story arc and Cap 3 would be a Nomad movie taking place afterwards.
I heard that rumor. That Feige just wanted to do the Civil War storyline because WB was doing Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Same with Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was in response to Michael Keaton coming back to play Batman in The Flash movie. And that moment, when Feige started reporting directly to Alan Horn, that's when the shows stopped being canon. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Daredevil. And now he made the Netflix shows canon again apparently. But apparently Black Panther was greenlighted under the Marvel Creative Committe.
*Alan Fine The shows stopped being canon mostly because of how secret each Marvel production is, the right hand wasn't talking to the left. Plus, the deal for Feige to respond directly to Disney was that Pelmutter and Marvel TV president Jeph Loeb would have unlimited control over TV and other media under Marvel Entertainment (key reason The Inhumans show got made and got two episodes released on IMAX). Those guys were full of greedy tactics and shitty mentality. Which is why, after they got the boot and Feige controls Marvel Entertainment now, the shows slowly became canon since Endgame.
The funny thing is that in both scenarios, the mcu was better prepared to tell these stories as opposed to the dceu based on the world building they already established
Snap! I’ve just read the Madbomb issues by Jack Kirby, the story truly lives up to its name being totally mad and would need major trimming to adapt to a film
i lowkey think it’s big enough to also be an Avengers movie. it might just be the perfect story choice to introduce the new team of Avengers since we dont know who the hell is on the team
@@omarslayz I don't think people talk enough about how the Avengers basically do not exist anymore and yet we're gonna be getting another two Avengers movies that are supposed to be the size of Infinity War.
@@Snowstorm... i’ve definitely seen people talk about that a lot… and its so true. we had an avengers movie every like 3 years to nothing 5 years after endgame. its really not looking good
I also heard that after Amy Pascal threw her sandwich at Kevin Feige that he had called a former assistant of his who at the time had a position of power at Netflix, as Feige's plan was to bring in Daredevil as a substitute for Spider-Man if Fiege and Pascal couldn't see eye-to-eye. At the time, Netflix would've still been at either finishing up Daredevil season 2, or finishing the Defenders mini-series, so by that continuity Daredevil still would've been in the red suit. I've heard he also was supposed to have a brief love affair with Black Widow. If this would've happened, the storyline for Daredevil season 3 would have to be completely changed, and I'm almost upset this didn't happen.
Season 3 is perfect though, beyond words. Idk if Scarlett Johanson has quit the MCU, but if she hasnt, we could still be seeing a version of their romance, and if she has, well actors can always be persuaded. Look at Downey
I have felt the Civil War storyline we got was missing an element of Hydra. We saw the splinter group within SHIELD taken down in Winter Soldier and the fringe elements taken down worldwide in subsequent movies. We saw a handful of corrupted politicians apprehended, though their influence on the governmental body was never really exhibited. We were told of all the world events Hydra had their tentacles in. But one head that never seemed to sprout was one to manipulate the public. Civil War already focuses on the collateral damage the Avengers and superheroes leave in their wake. An already vulnerable Tony Stark is shaken to his core by a grieving mother's story. How much more damage could be inflicted to their public image if a news org influenced by Hydra focused all their time on these types of sob stories? Or if a malevolent algorithm funnelled disparaging info thru social media? Hitting at the heart of the Avengers by turning the public against them. Zola would have been perfect. He should already know how successful media manipulation and propaganda are with his past. He had built the Insight AI that had access to every person's information and would know exactly how to manipulate them, instead of just using the Helicarriers to take possible threats out. And he was essentially AI himself in modern day.
Zola got destroyed in The Winter Soldier, though. And it may have been too much to bring Hydra in again, especially after Tony references that they’d cleaned that situation up.
Personally, Although Adding tony into captain America 3 does give it a Avengers 2.5 feel, the core tone, themes and characterisations from the winter soldier are still maintained for Steve, Natashia and Bucky. Steve is still the "Protagonist" of the feature fighting for what he believes in, and although Team iron man is still presented as a equal side (And is the side that ultimately wins) His team is mainly the antagonistic force trying to stop Cap. Put simply If civil war was a full blown avengers feature, i don't think those plot elements would be handled in the same way.
Everyone was really surprised and happy that Civil War turned out the way it did because, everyone realized that it was basically an Avengers film just with Cap branding, plus a lot of what happens in Civil War has knock on effects in Infinity War and Endgame, which makes those three films a connected trilogy.
I think the bigger problem is that due to Endgame being the next Avengers movie, Civil War's impact in the universe was completely erased. Endgame proved that giving heroes unilateral authority IS a good idea because there's too many threats for individual countries to keep track of. So then in comes SWORD
Civil War feels more like an Avengers movie than a Cap movie, it was an obvious move to compete with BvS (both movies originally had the same release date, but Warner moved the release of BvS to avoid competing with CW), which clearly paid off. Having said that, I don't think we were going to see this version of the script, considering is literally Kingsman. Btw, Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige have been friends for years, the infamous "sandwich incident" wasnt that serious...to the point the Russos included a sort of inside joke in Endgame, when Nat threatens to throw a sandwich at Steve.
One of very few stories where artists surpass corporal out of touch overlords. Thank you Kevin Feigi and Russo Brothers, and to the talented script and story team for adapting such a huge storyline into a 2 hour run time which marked a generation and has made me incredibly grateful and happy to exist at a time where I can watch it. I watched the trailer almost daily through the 7 months before release. I remeber the excitement everyone felt in the waiting line, and how much the final product surpassed my wildest expectations. It's sth I'll remeber senile and with fuzzy memory, just absolutely thank you.
I can only imagine the drama behind the scenes when it was announced to adapt Civil War. Trimming that might seem impossible, lol. It's still my favorite Marvel movie.
Although Endgame turn out big success, it is the slow "karma" on that the MCU universe have to pay now, with all the time travel and timeline, that ruined and make audience lost care about everything. So it that happen, if maybe not all bad
I like final Civil War version, but bit disappointed they killed off Crossbones so fast, I wish they had Crossbones play minor role and got captured by avengers and escape to play bigger role in black widow and shame didn't used Maria Hill

I still can’t believe former Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter suggested and fought for Robert Downey Jr to have a cameo instead of a supporting role for Civil War
Agreed, Robert Downey Jr/Iron Man is virtually the primary MCU character, a mere cameo in a movie as important as this story, would have been a serious disservice.
@@originalrkmorton an Inhumans movie with that cast could've worked easily, if Feige had any interest over the characters. Even then, Pelmutter had a lot worse ideas he did indeed execute: 1) changed the villain for Iron Man 3 (and took out scenes of the lady with extremis). 2) no Hela for Thor 2. 3) blocking Black Widow, Captain Marvel and Black Panther because of bigotry and misoginistic ideology/toy sales/box office. 4) not doing a Runaways movie for Guardians of the Galaxy because of *toys* and giving Runaways the Inhumans treatment (a TV show with a lot less budget). 5) blatant racism with the treatment of The Hand on Daredevil season 2 + forcing out the Punisher plot for that same poorly executed The Hand plot. 6) interfering with Edgar Wright over Ant Man and lowballing Jon Favreau out of directing The Avengers.
Joss Whedon Confirmed That He Shot An Alternate Ending For Age Of Ultron Where Quicksilver Survived The Final Battle And Became An Official Avenger, Just In Case Disney Didn't Want To Kill Off The Character. Had That Happened, Quicksilver Would Have Appeared Here As Well
He also had a shot slate for Capt. Marvel and had written Spider-man into that as well. Feige as soon as he saw Spider-man in the end scene he deleted it, and he thought you wouldn't throw such an important character as Capt. Marvel in a scene like that (plus, the movie was being blocked by the comitee)
Honestly it's a miracle that the movie we got was as decent as it was. 10 different decisions could have completely tanked the movie and they somehow pulled it off.
100%. My only grippe with Civil war is that its essentially avengers 2.5. Its still one of my favourite movies but i would have also been interested in a 3rd solo cap film.
@@ThatGuyGloomyI agree however I think the film did a better job at handling an ensemble cast than age of Ultron. I think it’s because civil war followed the structure of an actual movie and gave each character a relationship with each other and a justification for being in the movie. No scene feels like a waste of time. I think this films flows very much like a comic and it really works here
You forgot to mention that the Mad Bomb was used at the end of the first season of Agent Carter, which was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writers of the Cap trilogy and the last two Avengers. It's also the only Marvel Television project Kevin Feige was involved with. Maybe if this version of the third Captain America came out, we would have seen full-blown references to the show. (Instead, all we got was a Jarvis cameo in Endgame.)
People don't talk about that show. It's like it never existed. The 1st season was amazing. 2nd not that much. I loved the character Dottie Underwood. She was sharp and cunning. Wish the actress get to some villainess role in Multiverse.
This is actually one of the ones where I feel we got the best version. I remember back when it was announced, like many others I thought it was too soon. Even after it came out and turned out really good, I wondered if it couldn't have been even better had they done it later. But looking at the MCU's journey since then, they did pick exactly the right time. This was the height of the Tony/Steve relationship. They couldn't have pulled off this dynamic later and it basically shaped all of phase 3.
5:07 to anyone still wondering why "Black Widow" took so long to become a reality, there's your answer. Thank god Kevin was able to break free from Ike Perlmutter
Civil War story should've been an Avengers movie, then Spiderman Homecoming and Black Panther solo movies first , 2018 the year we got Avengers Infinity War, introduced certain characters earlier/later around this period then where Avengers Infinity War around 2020/2021 instead. Who else agrees
Civil War is a tough one for me. On one hand, it's an incredible movie that had massive implications for the MCU as a whole, really set up the Infinity War/Endgame saga and even storylines that are still actively playing out to this day (such as Wanda and Vision), and introduced great characters like Spidey and T'Challa. So I'll always love and enjoy it for all of that. But on the other hand, I do feel like we were robbed of a proper Cap 3, as well as a proper Cap&Bucky team up/reunion. Their storyline didn't get time to breathe in Civil War since it had to do SO much, and then IW/Endgame happen and it (and Steve's storyline overall) is just gone. I will always be a little bitter about that.
I always thought Captain America: Civil War was a bit weird in concept. While it is probably my favorite MCU movie, it always felt like an Avengers movie with Captain America moreorless just being the one we are focused a bit more on. By that logic, Age of Ultron should have been Iron Man 4 or The Incredible Hulk 2. So the original Cap 3 idea makes a bit more sense.
I wish captain America 3 and civil war were different movies it would have been so much better and what I’m hearing about plans for captain America 3 it would have been great for me I would have loved it
8:34 I really wish they kept that suit. Looks a lot better and I’m tired of the all CGI suite, I’m glad they’re giving him a nice clean and classic new suit that we saw at the end of NWH
I love Civil War, but I wish it could’ve been separated out into a sort of Avengers 3 because with the last installment of the Cap trilogy, it would’ve been nice to focus more on Steve, Bucky, Sam, and Natasha. I would really have loved to see more time dedicated to the Bucky storyline.
As much as the original wouldve be epic i feel like civil war is great the way it came out as it also introduced tom as Spiderman and was a phenomenal movie but great video as always 😅
As a personal hot take I don't think I would have ever lost any sleep if Spider-Man hadn't ended up appearing in this movie, since I ultimately ended up not particularly caring much for the MCU's own portrayal of the character and what that's been for the most part up to this point. I only started to find more appreciation for Tom Holland's Spider-Man by the end of No Way Home because it felt like they were finally going to start making him more like the Spider-Man we've traditionally known from the comics. But then Sam Raimi's depiction of the Spider-Man universe was always much closer to that right from the start, which is why I'll probably always still prefer his movies automatically over the MCU's take on the character. They just wanted to go in an extremely different direction since Raimi already did the more comic accurate Spider-Man, only it's the more comic accurate portrayal that I actually want to watch as a fan.
@@vengeance2115 - 2002 movie adapting the classic origin story. - The murder of Uncle Ben, along with his parting words of "With great power comes great responsibility". - Peter getting work as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle. - The more classic comic book portrayals of Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson, and J. Jonah Jameson. - The whole relationship triangle between Peter, MJ, and Harry Osborn. - Peter's struggles to balance his responsibility as Spider-Man with his work and relationships. I could go on but yes, Raimi's movies always felt much closer to the original comics while the MCU's take on the character for the most part hadn't really felt like "Spider-Man" as much as he felt like a more privileged Iron Man protégé who was also more terrible at keeping his secret identity a secret from anyone (something which was always more compelling in Raimi's films while the MCU has always been playing it for laughs).
Maybe if spiderman didn't cry so hard and be so dependent on iron man I would've like the mcu one more. Spiderman is a self made super hero and that's why he's so popular. I agree by the end I liked him more once he started acting like the real spider man
yea the more you dig deep into the behind the scenes, you start to find out just how different marvel was going to be. I even keep forgetting that Fiege doesnt have full control like most people think, he's just the face of the executives for the company but there were others higher up that actually have control. If this movie flopped there is a good chance Fiege would have been fired, he really delivered and did great with infinity war and endgame. I do worry now for the future, i haven't really been interested in marvel lately and the only thing im remotely interested in is the next 2 avengers movies. but i feel like i have a lot of disney+ shows to catch up on
And now 8 years later Perlmutter is out of Marvel and Disney completely. This was the beginning of the end of his grip on a company and brand he didn't really care about. Now all that remains is Avi Arad. I wish Disney would either write a blank check or give Sony something of equal value from their monopoly like they did when it came to Universal and Hulk.
I'm guessing Zemo and the Serpent Society would've been the ones behind Madbomb. Because you can tell that the "other winter soldiers" were scraps left out of a *Serpent Society* unused plot. And history is repeating itself with the new one lol.
There is a good reason RDJ gets paid so much. He is clearly vital to these movies both in front of and behind the camera. Feige as well clearly has the big picture in a way most don't.
The thing about the Civil War comic (that would come out months late) it changed everything, but a bunch of stuff went back (to the way it was) right after. The Fantastic Four briefly mentioned what happened after Reed and Sue broke up and joined opposite sides (I think). One of the members was beaten by a mob or something and Reed created a clone/robot Thor for some reason. That thing killed somebody, but Reed never saw any consequence. No one cared about Goliath, I guess. I don't know how many writers wanted to write Tony Stark as a government official. I wish they had just forgotten the whole thing. Nobody seemed to know what to do with this never ending premise. You can't decide 'Tony is back to the way he was' nowadays. I admit, I went to most of those movies up to the end of Endgame, but I don't thing about them much anymore.
"Like a weather app asking for my location" How do you think they know which weather forecast to show? Or do you think the weather is the same everywhere?
I’m annoyed with the whole sandwich incident thing. I understand what Amy Pascal was feeling at the time, but throwing something at someone is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. That kind of incident can get you in a whole lot of trouble. There should have been consequences to what Amy Pascal did to Feige
According To Andy Park, In The Early Stages Of Development Of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang Was Meant To Side With Iron Man During The Avengers Civil War, Hank Pym In The Original Civil War Comic Book Storyline. This Was Later Changed As The Script Evolved
Sharon Carter was also originally in the airport fight. This and Scott's allegiance were changed presumably because they got the license to use Spider-Man.
@@technounionrepresentative4274 Scott already did a favour for one billionaire not out of character for him to do for another billionaire superhero. Still, I think Scott would have switched to Team Cap.
Scott in team Iron Man wouldn't have made sense, at that time Hank and Hope *hated* the Starks. Also, Feige had another backup plan if Sony wouldn't give Spider-man: Daredevil. Which would've been both crazy and I'm sure a headache for Feige to have to deal with the Comitee/Pelmutter/Loeb who were in charge of Marvel TV at that time.
aslo another thing i liked is rdj telling the crew to give tom 's spiderman lines it shows he cares and a friendship between the two actors a started towards infinity war and endgame in my opinion
It’s also worth mentioning that Sharon Carter had a pretty beefy role in the movie. She was in all of the promotional material and concept art in a hero suit and Emily Vancamp has talked about how she was sad how little of her scenes made it into the Final Cut
It's starting to become more often with these videos that I prefer the version we didn't get to the one we did. 3:37, "However, producer Nate Moore protested, feeling that the MCU so far hadn't established many of the elements from the Civil War storyline in the comics... For his part, Feige didn't care and pushed for the team to adapt the storyline, not copy it directly." Thank you, Nate Moore, for trying to keep closer to the comics. Not surprised to learn Feige didn't care about the source material and being as faithful as adaptation between mediums will allow. So Feige changed what the movie was going to be entirely and used the situation to go all in and take over. Although it's impossible to know how much might've just been Feige taking advantage of what was unfolding in front of him or how much might've been Feige forcing situations to happen to maneuver them how he wanted, he sounds more and more Littlefinger'ish to me. 5:56, "This would be the last straw for the Russos, who threatened to quit saying, there's nothing interesting about that film, we're not here to make that movie, we're not interested in telling another superhero story, so we're out the door if that's the direction you want to go." They were LITERALLY there to make another superhero movie. The original movie they were going to make before Feige changed everything was more superhero than what the directors were being directed by Feige to make and they were just fine with it back then. Feige created a situation, and the only way to "save" it was to play all the sides against each other and then put all the blame on Perlmutter. Mad Littlefinger vibes. So Perlmutter shot down Feige on wanting Black Panther and Feige shot down Wasp and General Ross/ Red Hulk because "they weren't established enough," but after deposing of Perlmutter Feige went ahead and put in Black Panther and Spider-Man, neither of whom had any concrete previous establishment in the MCU besides throw away lines that only comic fans would recognize were about them. The irony of Perlmutter's deposing during Civil War's production is almost cosmic. It seems to me like Perlmutter and Feige unintentionally kept each other in check. Once that resistance from Perlmutter was removed, everyone just said yes to Feigie after they saw him cut down Perlmutter and claim the iron throne. And "thanks" to Feige and his complete control over the MCU that he used literal civil war to obtain, we have the MCU of today. Who's to say how successful or unsuccessful Captain American and The Mad you-know-what might've been, but I can say I definitely would've preferred it based off of what I learned from this video and how Feige steered the MCU since Civil War. Thanks Bullets and Blockbusters for a VERY edifying episode.
Dang.. so Marvel did just like you said? Beating DC at their own game by rushing (into) projects/storylines without characters being introduced or having their own standalone projects? Still one of my favorite MCU movies, though. Would've loved to have seen what it would've been like with the characters that were in the comics. And it did seem kinda rushed. I would've loved to have seen Steve and Bucky go at it with the other super soldiers before going at it with Tony.
Who else remembers that incredible reveal where Chris Evans was at a fan event to promote Cap 3 and then RDJ came out and the tease if Civil War the crowd went bonkers, then they are like oh Black Oanther is in this movie, and here's Chadwick Boseman (RIP) who walks out in the middle of the two pretending to Duke it out.... the golden days of the MCU
The madbomb story would have been an excellent way to properly introduce Sam's Cap. The film would pit Sam against decisions that Steve never had to make, like fighting a civilian population. By the end, it could nearly be a "lost but won" approach, as it would ask the moral questions about the decisions he made and if he were deserving of the "Captain America" title. It could be an interesting lead up to the next film in the series, where sam would prove that he is indeed capable of boasting the title. I think that alone sounds much better than simply introducing sam in his own film like he's been doing this for years and going up against a Hulk.
While not in nearly as much detail it turns out EVERY rumor I heard about the behind the scenes of this movie turned out to be true. Now days people say Perlmutter would have been a better manager of the MCU but I have all of his ideas for civil war.
As difficult as those clashes were behind the scenes, since Pearlmutter and crew had been gone, and Fiege has been fully in charge, it’s been like when Lucas took full power in the Star Wars prequels. Friction sometimes sharpen and help the process.
Wish they went with a more grounded follow up to Civil War. The Mad Bomb story was great; I believe that was one of the first stories Jack Kirby made when he returned to Cap in the 70s
I have nothing but respect for them outright rejecting the idea of everybody, teaming up and fighting the super soldiers together at the end, literally just making up within the span of one movie after the conflict was built up as a world changing event
As a teenager I grew up in the early 2000s and the Civil War comic book series was one of my all time favorite Marvel stories and it still is. Captain America 3 is also a great story and I like it a lot even though I like the book more. I can see why a lot of people love this movie and I can also see why it’s a popular MCU movie but I like the other story a lot too. This really was a great video. Probably the thing that frustrates me most about this story is that it prevented us from getting Amazing Spider-man 3 but otherwise I do like this movie even though I maintain that I like the book a whole lot more. Thank you for providing the behind the scenes information! I definitely like the story we got but the Mad bomb story also sounds really good and I would love to see it adapted into a future Marvel movie!
I kind of like the direction of the Civil War story because we can see the aftermath of it all during the events of Infinity war when the OG avengers are not together
While I love civil war movie we got, the Mad Bomb storyline does sound interesting and they can use that storyline in the future. They could also do more faithful adaptation of Civil War in the future too since Marvel have FF and the X Men but that would probably have to be an entire saga considering how massive that storyline is
"Killing off half their characters" yeah, Disney probably knew it was just going to be a large fake out death so they didn't care. "Oh you're ending all these characters, but I see here you have these films in production with these characters returning, what are you guys going to do a punch of prequels" "No" I mean come on, they stated multiple times that Spiderboy 2 took place after Endgame and people saw Spiderboy "die" in IW. So the Disney board had nothing to worry about. Until that editor on EG told the Russos "don't you take this away from her" and Black Widow ended up actually dying even though her film had been greenlite and announced. Plus they had a lot planned for the character after EG and Hawkeye was supposed to be the one to die as they had nothing planned for him, and still don't with his series not being one of the more popular ones on Plus. Making the Black Window film have to be a prequel leading to one of the reasons it bombed at the box office. As prequels don't tend to do well unless they take place years before it and focus on different characters. IE Star Wars only worked because it wasn't telling the story of Baby/Kid Luke but a younger Obi and Vader. None of the 3 SWPT films were box office failures even though haters were very vocal about how they felt. Those films were still successful. If BW had successful there would have been a sequel with other mission ScarJo went on before IW/EG or what she did during the 5 years between the two films. Even with C19 Disney did that weird RentAtHome thing with the film to try and bring in more box office. As it sits Disney decided to focus on there New Black Widow instead of the star of the film, and unlike Cap who is getting Cap 4 with a new person in the role of the character, the new Black Widow is in Thunderbolts, not Black Widow 2. Because none of the Thunderbolts characters need the spot light and Cap 3 showed that a team up film can be named and work with the story being named after one character.
I'm glad we got the movie we got but I still want an Amazing Spiderman 3. They should've released that right after No Way Home. Also that Mad Bomb story sounds interesting.
What would've been dope for me is if Sam went to Wakanda with Bucky and they allowed him to use the herb. Once taken, he goes to sleep and sees and speaks to Steve Rogers. Steve gives him the advice and motivation he needs. Once awake, he receives the new suit and new wings with Vibranium laced with Adamantium. His wings this time are capable of shooting "feathers." He doesnt have to go the Super soldier route, he can keep his dignity intact. But I dont know, just fan writing I guess
i'd love to hear your take on the mad bomb concept, i think if they went with that film they still could have had a spiderman, black panther or even Ross's red hulk since in all the chaos i could see a younger peter in his homemade suit trying to help how he can while staying in control. and since Bruce is still of world having ross as hulk adds to the political angel.

BOOO!!! I like Tom fine. But can you imagine if Andrew was MCU Spidey?!
I agree , the film we got was amazing. And the mad bomb idea can still work for a future story.
Dude, if they can get Anthony Mackie to keep being Cap... Madbomb story and Sam against Torres and Bucky for Capt America 5? Peak.
Iconic but not good. We should give them credit for making civil war ACTUALLY good
The mad bomb idea could work great with Sam Wilson Cap!
I can see Banner being for it, though they'd need to backtrack on the development done between Bruce and Hulk (yet again).
I wish we had David Hayter's Black Widow film.
Well, what do you expect from a uber rich QtrumpliKKKan?
Especially since Nat and Tony confirm in the movie that Hulk would’ve been on Cap’s side. Plus being for the Accords goes against everything Banner stood for at the time as he always wanted to be alone in stress free environments or only be used as a last resort
As much as I love civil war I always felt like we were robbed of a proper Cap 3 movie. Mad Bomb is perhaps one of his most iconic silver age stories, and had a nature that lended itself well to the political thriller style of winter soldier, so it's a shame it was ultimately left on the cutting room floor. It would have been nice to get a proper cap 3 between civil war and infinity war, with cap, falcon, bucky, and black widow having to balance taking on a criminal conspiracy and also having to deal with the fact that they're fugitives.
fr that sounds so fun
I agree. Had it been up to me. AOU and Civil War would be a two-parter avengers disassembled story arc and Cap 3 would be a Nomad movie taking place afterwards.
Yeah, I honestly agree. Civil War should have been an Avengers film, so that Captain America 3 could focus on the Mad Bomb storyline
Captain America: Civil War ❌️
Avengers: Fallout ✅️
All because Kevin wanted to beat dc. If only he knew bat man v super man was mid.
*Alan Fine
The shows stopped being canon mostly because of how secret each Marvel production is, the right hand wasn't talking to the left.
It feels like Downey really has his co-workers best interests in mind. He's like, "I made it. So let's make sure everyone else gets their day."
Snap! I’ve just read the Madbomb issues by Jack Kirby, the story truly lives up to its name being totally mad and would need major trimming to adapt to a film
The madbomb storyline is interesting and it should be used in the future with Sam Wilson since Steve Rogers isn't the Captain America anymore

@emmarosedewittbukater
Zola was actually planned to reappear in the Ant-Man movie in a robotic body in Darren Cross' Yellowjacket sale.
IMO, Captain America: Civil War is such an underrated MCU film. Zemo indirectly helped Thanos win in Infinity War by splitting the Avengers.

2) no Hela for Thor 2.
3) blocking Black Widow, Captain Marvel and Black Panther because of bigotry and misoginistic ideology/toy sales/box office.

Their weird fixation on a mad bomb made me laugh by the end there. I'm glad you decided to scrap it.
I kinda disagree. Mainly bc the real reason Capt 3 is disqualified by not being an avengers movie is because it doesn't have Thor & Hulk
the writing in this video essay is insane. good job.
They should do cap 5 as the mad bomb story and if they don’t kill Steve off have him get the robotic suit like the comics
Raimi comic accurate 😂

3:37, "However, producer Nate Moore protested, feeling that the MCU so far hadn't established many of the elements from the Civil War storyline in the comics... For his part, Feige didn't care and pushed for the team to adapt the storyline, not copy it directly."
Thank you, Nate Moore, for trying to keep closer to the comics.
5:56, "This would be the last straw for the Russos, who threatened to quit saying, there's nothing interesting about that film, we're not here to make that movie, we're not interested in telling another superhero story, so we're out the door if that's the direction you want to go."
They were LITERALLY there to make another superhero movie.
So Perlmutter shot down Feige on wanting Black Panther and Feige shot down Wasp and General Ross/ Red Hulk because "they weren't established enough,"
but
after deposing of Perlmutter Feige went ahead and put in Black Panther and Spider-Man, neither of whom had any concrete previous establishment in the MCU besides throw away lines that only comic fans would recognize were about them.
Civil War was one of my favorite movies of the franchise.
As difficult as those clashes were behind the scenes, since Pearlmutter and crew had been gone, and Fiege has been fully in charge, it’s been like when Lucas took full power in the Star Wars prequels. Friction sometimes sharpen and help the process.
Alternate Captain America Civil War Let’s go!
This time everything worked out perfectly! 😂❤
Russo Bros + MCU = GOLD SON! 🤘

Wish they went with a more grounded follow up to Civil War. The Mad Bomb story was great; I believe that was one of the first stories Jack Kirby made when he returned to Cap in the 70s
An Avengers movie isn't an Avengers movie without Hulk & Thor, im glad we got what we got
So basically Civil War saved the MCU behind scenes
Amy Pascal throwing a sandwich at Kevin Feige because he dumped on Amazing Spider-Man 3 is the best thing I've heard all day.
I have nothing but respect for them outright rejecting the idea of everybody, teaming up and fighting the super soldiers together at the end, literally just making up within the span of one movie after the conflict was built up as a world changing event
Amy Pascal: SANDWICH THROW 🥪🥪🥪🥪🥪
A rare episode of this channel where I think "thank god we got the version we got!"
If Batman vs Superman never happened we could’ve got an alternate avengers 3 & 4
Civil War is not Avengers 2.5, as it didn’t feature Hulk and Thor.
I'm glad we got the movie we got but I still want an Amazing Spiderman 3. They should've released that right after No Way Home. Also that Mad Bomb story sounds interesting.
Despite knowing that the Civil War was too Soon, i cannot Deny that it is an AMAZING Film! 🤩🤩🤩
This video a nice walk down memory lane.
It’s interesting that after giving Feige was given full control of Marvel it wasn’t long after quality started to dip
Civil War was Prime MCU...I was satisfied...team Hulk would have been absurd lol
I really wish they found a way to work in Hulk and Thor just so they could call it Avengers: Civil War.
Frankly given how BNW is a weird Hulk sequel sorta, i think you could've made either FATWS or the movie based on Madbomb and give it to Sam
They should have went with the mad bomb story they didn’t have enough characters for civil war yet
Thank you for your videos. They're awesome. :)
Thanks for watching!
i'd love to hear your take on the mad bomb concept, i think if they went with that film they still could have had a spiderman, black panther or even Ross's red hulk since in all the chaos i could see a younger peter in his homemade suit trying to help how he can while staying in control. and since Bruce is still of world having ross as hulk adds to the political angel.
so sad that the defenders happened right before civil war. i really wanted daredevil to be in civil war
If Feige and Disney didn’t kick out Perlmutter, I feel that MCU would’ve gone onto DCEU’s path and fail on their phase 3.
Love your videos... a good one would be what happened on X-Men 3: Last Stand
Thanks! Check the archives
@@Bulletsandblockbusters WTF??? Not only is it there but I'VE ALREADY WATCHED IT! Short-term memory loss you know. Thanks!
