  • Bill Wood was with Red Nichols from 1953 until Red passed in 1965. He was an excellent clarinet player and a great photographer. Both he and my father were instrumental for me getting into the photographic end of the movie business. He also spent much of his offtime documenting our family's comings and goings with his trusty Leica. I probably didn't notice how wonderful that was as a child. Didn't everybody have their own private documentarian in the family? Well, we did.
His 1958 rendering of MY INSPIRATION with the Red Nichols band while on one of their many gigs in Marineland's Porpoise Room Lounge is typical of his sweet style. Enjoy this mini tribute.
