Zelda Oracle of Ages - Final Boss : Veran

- EDIT: Yes there is indeed another phase for those who were wondering, Veran randomly will turn into either a spider or bee, this is completely random, and which is why she didn't turn into a bee when I was fighting.
The Final Battle in the Oracle of Ages. (Unless you are playing a linked game.)
See Video for tips on beating it.
The overall storyline play in this game was way harder than seasons I thought but the final battle with Onox in seasons was way harder than Veran. Veran is just a combination of how to beat 2 or 3 bosses in seasons.
That's actually intentional since Seasons was designed to have harder battles, whereas Ages was designed to have harder puzzles.
Seriously? Veran is much easier to hit. You can also kill her very quickly with the Master Sword and Red Ring.
I had fun replaying this boss-battle recently. I got her spider-form, and had a seriously epic moment. As I threw a bomb at her, she approached, and I was carelessly still, so she got me with her web. Then, right as she was about to bash me into the ground, my bomb went off, stunning her and freeing me.... Good times.
Veran was more of a tactician than a fighter. She tricked Link to do her work on numerous occasions in the game and even manipulated Queen Ambi to obey her. Onox was more about raw strenght and combat. Overall, I liked Veran more than him even though her battle was easier. Possibly because I played OoA before I OoS, but also because Veran was featured more than Onox. She kept coming back playing tricks on Link, which made me even more determined to beat her in the end.
@MarkC18 And not just that, but in a world where every hot female humanoid is throwing herself at Link, Veran is trying to kill him. I remember being completely shocked when I found there would be a Zelda game with a FEMALE primary antagonist.
I really hope they remake the game, and make Veran's final form way more intimidating. Veran's giant spider form is not as terrible as it should look, and that beetle/turtle thing was just laughable. Veran deserves better!
I think we have stupid Twinrova to blame for Veran not having a cooler form.
@@meta527IIyou can say that again.
Really? A lot of people think Seasons is one of the most gorgeous game boy colour games ever. It really pushed the graphics of the GBC to the limit. It was like seeing LA graphics, but made even better, which worked just fine for me because LA was my first zelda.
I swear this is for me the hardest boss fight in the series (I've not played everyone)
2:38 I like what Veran says here.
If you have a Master Sword and a Red Ring she will go down before she is able to transform.
Veran's my favorite villain, but I wish they had made her more of a challenge. Still her strength seems to lie in her cunning plots and schemes (lets face it, you end up playing right into her hands at a few points in the game.)
Still its a shame shes such a pushover as a boss.
i like the evil fairy form because veran summons dark links
I hate this game yet I always find myself coming back to it.
Just because they have less detail doesn't mean the sprites have aged badly or are bad looking.
Veran is easily my favorite villain in the Zelda series.
or at least she WOULD have been if they didn't RUIN her by making her like 5% evil and have her be a puppet to the stupid Twinrova!
That's your non-anime example of power creep.
Twinrova would’ve worked betterr as antagonists if they made the 3rd oracle game. Perhaps the third game could’ve came before the other two and Twinrova summoning Veran and Onox to help them would make more sense as they would’ve been defeated and thus have a reason to have a backup plan.
so true
but when said "prehahps u have a different flavor from that fool Ralph.'
that kinda scared me a litte 0_o
Que juegazo !! Esos si eran juegos ! :P
Gosh, I got so close to beating this game.... I was just 10 when I finished Mermaids Cave, but never understood how to play in the giant fish's stomach.
Then I lost the game.... as well as Oracle of Seasons :(
They ought to make some sort of followup, no?
this game kicks major ass, i just beat it for like the 100th time
I'm hoping these Oracle games come to 3DS Virtual Console, along with their linkable second quest. Especially this one, I find Veran interesting because, as of the day I post this, she is the only FEMALE main villain of a game.
MarkC18 :Guess what? We got the Oracle games!!!
I've played Shantae. I still prefer the Oracle games graphics wise. The sprites are fine, and I've seen much, much worse ones on other games.
She'd probably destroy the universe while constantly making Link fondle himself.
Veran totally deserved a cooler looking final form. Her spider thing could have looked so much better, the bee was allright, but the beetle turtle thing was just pathetic.
when link pushed them out of the way i was like, "THATS A BRO!"
out of all of veran's forms the one i find most challenging (and agrivating) is her spider form!
I think we can agree that we probably never will come to a conclusion we both like. :)
The problem about veran is that her movements is way too accurate ramming link in the process. And the spiders in the first phase were a pain in the ass.
Yes, to clarify what he said there is another phase, which is the bee, but for some reason it did not change into that form for me, it is a random form she will change into from the turtle/beetle phase
Even if there were to be a remake of this game, Nintendo probably wouldn't be handling it.
Ages/Seasons was actually developed by Capcom, so they would be the ones handling it.
you make this looks so easy... i've been doing nothing but trying to beat her for the last three days... :(
Veran totally deserved a better final form. But I suppose Veran's strengths lie in her cunning and plotting. Onox just sits there and lets you get on with it.
Blue chick -> large green fairy (like tingle?) -> mirror -> purple turtle -> purple spider
REAL SCARY D:
some correction for the final boss forms.
she will change to either bee or spider form even if she only takes a hit once. it doesn't matter how much you killed the bee or spider form. the one to kill is the beetle/turtle form which takes
7 slashes of noble sword.
ten slash of wooden sword.
4 slashes of master sword.
and her damage on beetle form will not regenerated but keeped when she changed form. so if you killed her fast enough, you can killed her before she changed for the second time.
Second best game ever, tied with Seasons and led by Half Life 2
A turtle with a face. gee, I'm overwhelmed in fear.
When I was 8 I took like 20 tries to beat the final boss in Seasons and just 1 try to beat the final boss in Ages...
In the Manga of this game, Veran, though evil, was HOOOOOOTTT as all hell. Also, why do all the villains (especially hot ones) get all the cool superpowers? I mean, Veran can poessess bodies. WHY DON'T THE HEROES EVER GET SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!
Just looked up now OP 11 years later, and I can safely say why the hell is Veran such an underrated waifu?
Onox was tougher, but she was still fun to fight.
I remember phase 2 being the hardest for me.. oh and then her spider form when i didnt know i had to use bombs
Veran was Represents of Pain
It wasn't really a turtle, it was more blubberly and had a single eye like thing.
You will receive a password after the game is complete, in seasons, start a new game, and select password, input the password given to you in ages and have fun.
Why won't Nintendo create a remake of both Oracle of Seasons and Ages?
Those we're the best portable Zelda games IMO.
it can't be helped, once I hit the item menu in game it delays it, I wish i knew a solution to this.
ZeldaDungeon is a awesome website for Zelda game walkthroughs and the staff is friendly
Because that'd make it too easy for the heroes. The villains always have the cool shit because the cool shit gives the upper hand. If the heroes could posess people, they could posess one of Veran's minions, waltz in, and kill her in her sleep, that wouldn't be much of a game now would it? :P
Maybe. Eventually, I guess it comes down to preference. Then again, most games can be improved, and maybe I'm missing something.
I remember this battle was hard as shit when I was 10 years old
I wouldn't say she turned into tinker bell, she clearly has much different features from her in whatevger form that was. :P
Is it me or are those Shekiah eye statues scattered around Veran/Ambi's arena?
you know when i played this i could have sworn there was atleast one more phase... oh well
onox was so much harder because if you didnt hit him fast he blows blue fire right at you and your evasiveness chances are almost 0 onox is like being brave ...jumping above his hands without knowing if thats gonna hurt you and stuff and wich part of his body you could attack*that diamond thing only*swords are puny against his hands
It's a beetle.
By linked game I mean that you had previously played oracle of seasons and continued your data onto oracle of ages to get the true ending where you beat ganon.
If she wants you to fear her, why does she turn into tinker bell? 1:18
@erykwelde They will for the 3DS. Though you didn't know that because you posted this a year ago, which was before the 3DS remake for OoT was announced.
I actually had a lot of trouble with Veran final form. I was much younger and wasn't the greatest at games. I remember dieing on her many times. I think i tried to beat her with other weapons other then the sword. Also, i was bad at dodging attacks.
Everything you said is also personal preference, not fact.
Haha, I've had this game evry since 2002 yestarday I finally beat this game! Hahaha I felt really special afterwords xD. It was really my sister's game but she let me have it. I have 2 of the same games anyway.
I found Onox to be so easy, you just had to literally move 1 step to dodge his blue fire, his hand swipe you just had to hug the other wall and it wouldn't hurt you. All you really had to do was constantly jump on his hand and charge slash him a few times.
I had trouble with Veran's bee/flying form, it was a bitch cause she'd transform into it every time she had a chance to change when I fought her. Her turtle/beetle thing was pretty stupid and her spider form was just pathetically laughable.
Vera's final form was easy for me because i just kept hiting her iin the first few seconds and she died.
That still doesn't mean that the features the GBC can deliver wasn't used to their full potential. It was merely made in a new way, while still keeping the features LA had, just improving them.
Dragon Quest 3? I don't care about that game right now, I'm talking from Zelda to Zelda franchise, not another game.
Yes, shit. Many dungeon tunes are a lot better, an example being the "Dancing Dragon Dungeon" tune, which is a damn lot better than anything LA had to offer. Also, the boss soundtrack.
i wish you can fight veran again after you beat the game, you could do that in other zelda games
Seasons had a way better final boss. I only bought ages because all my friends bought seasons.
Not a remake, maybe a port, like Mario 64 on the DS.
Still I wish the 2 games (Times and Seasons) got a remake. For the DS or a future handheld console.
@chicopapass you really cant be saying that seasons was easyer.. playing seasons without help in the lost woods makes seasons the hardest game of them all
You just walked away to dodge the turtleveran??
I always put on pegasus seeds plus roc's feather to dodge.
I didn't knew this was this easy.
I exaggerated, i think..
I thought the 1st phase was easy...the other phase's took me FOREVER to figure them out.
I died about 10 or 20 times and she's freaking tough. I kept dieing cant seem to beat her. I hate these tough bosses.
The fear of death is a purple turtle?
I bet her and she was easy but i only had three hearts when ahe turned into the spider/bee/TRTLE
who is a better boss, General Onox or Veran?
Wait do I have to play Oracle of Seasons to continue? I just finished Oracle of Ages but there’s a area in the map that I never saw.
I don't think there are any locked off areas in the game. Linking both games only gets you exclusive items and some extra bosses at the end.
onox had a better final form
wow... those dark links didnt put up much of a fight didnt they......
2:41 oh. my. god. KITTY FACE!!!
hey,hey smigul!... i dont remember commenting this
is link a kid or an adult in this? he looks like a kid in the gameplay but in the artwork he looks like an adult
Both king are average.... i think. Because different version you have different items.
Well, those people didn't played Shantae or were aware of the degree of quality Capcom is capable(or were). They were sprites that felt out of place and pretty dated if I'm honest...
spiders are pretty
isnt ganon after this
Veran is so so so much easier then Onox...
Just out of pure curiosity, Why do you keep your sword always on the B button? In Link's awakening by default its given to A and if you played those first you may be use to having it on A instead of B, not to mention that A seems more natural than B for the sword.
It's just out of preference. It just feels better there
TheGutsyGamer Hmm, I'm just the opposite, feels right to be on A.
The sword in B felt better for me as well. Felt more natural since I started on Ocarina of Time.
i've always felt better using the sword on B too. but then again my first zelda games were a link to the past and ocarina of time. i didn't play link's awakening til much later.
A lot of Zelda games have the sword button as B
only in a linked game
you use a link cable or write down the password it gives you at the end of the game
Not even close. Why is Zelda 2 the worst? Because it tried a different aproach back when there wasn't an established formula? That had guts. Also, I don't mind a good chalenge. On the other hand, the best handheld is Link's Awakening.(Nice sprite re-hashing, Capcom)
Sound is off
Thanks for the input, but maybe look at the date of the video next time. Emulator I was using at the time had a record function, but it was pretty bad. I was just a kid at the time that didn't know any better. Maybe someday I'll go back and redo these in a better quality, but I feel like as a quick guide video it does it's job. Again thanks for the input.
That Spider form was annoying as heck.
the music doenst run with the video!!
Hey! Dark Link 4 times!
@Monkeyboy92037 hahaha ;D
the sounds kinda off.....
can you do it the other way around?
Less detail has nothing to do with pushing any console, handheld and whatnot, to it's limits. Also, it isn't a fact that the animation flows better, what? That's a question of personal preference when it comes down to two games that look so alike. Seasons/Ages had moving screens in rooms which was smooth, the animations were quite formidable, and an huge improvement to the former LA game. The game itself looked to push the GBC further than ever before.
Also, the soundtrack. LA's was shit.
with veran you run up and down easy)with onox just left----right hard)
I feel like that, specially since the new sprites have more detail put into them: Shading, smoothing. The old ones look unpolished in comparision.
That and pointing out your statement of " It really pushed the graphics of the GBC to the limit" was more than exaggerated...
@kaikkivetaahabaneroo the woods wasn't that hard.
Oh...it's a she...hmmm....
ages had a better story and oracle of season was easier
I supose. I'm not entirely with the Autarch there(even when he does amazing videos, and his critizicing is never entirely unfunded hate)I still do like these games. However, he's right about it could have been done more...
Well, didn't expect to see someone talking about him in the comments section of this video!
The bosses are unmemorable, the story beyond cliché(the plot in LA was better by a mile) , the rings a mere gimmick, and there's still the rehashed material. And the Darknuts, it's just a matter of timing.
Whateverthehell :This game is awesome I don’t know what you’re smoking so shut up!!!
What is it with the fucking sound lag!?!?!
The thing is, it's poorly rehashed, and poorly blended with new stuff that it's weak by itself. In MM, they rehashed things right, changing textures, adapting models, with shiny new stuff. Here, it just applies the Capcom rule of "they're just sprites. It doesn't look aged" used in other games as well such as the Ace Attorney franchise(Is really that hard to re-draw the judge, Capcom?)
