yeah bro, they are werry good, and their guitarist tommy johansson is one of a kind, probably the best singer and artist in the world. 100% musical talent
As stated before the movie is Arn - The Knight Templar, a swedish movie that dont have anything to do with what the song is about but rather a theory on how Sweden as a nation was born, great movie. The song , ofc, is about the swiss guards sacrifice in Rome protecting the pope and not the knights templar defending/attacking Jerusalem. I dont think this is an official Sabaton release but rather the work of a fan. But, an epic song though and a personal favourit of mine.
Each new intake to the Swiss Papal Guard is still sworn in on the anniversary (6th May) and on the exact sites (it was a running battle) of that heroic stand, in which 147 of the 189, including their commander, Casper Roist, were killed protecting the escape of Pope Clement VII through the Passeto di Borgo, closely escorted by the remaining 42 guardsmen. This reinforces the reality of what they are signing up for. The usual site is in the San Damaso Courtyard, but other significant points in the running battle have also been used (in 2006, the 500th anniversary of the Guards; establishment, the 33 new guardsmen were sworn in on the steps of St. Peter's Basilica - the steps of heaven referenced in the song). (English translation) I swear that I will faithfully, loyally and honourably serve the Supreme Pontiff (name of Pope) and his legitimate successors, and dedicate myself to them with all my strength, sacrificing, if necessary, my life to defend them. I assume this same commitment with regard to the Sacred College of Cardinals whenever the Apostolic See is vacant. Furthermore, I promise the Commanding Captain and my other superiors respect, fidelity and obedience. I swear to observe all that the honour of my position demands of me. This is read in French, German and Italian (the three official languages of Switzerland), before each individual swears to uphold what has been read in their own language, holding the corner of the Guards' banner in his left hand and raising his right in a gesture symbolising the holy trinity, with the words (again, translated to English): I, (name), swear to diligently and faithfully abide by all that has just been read out to me, so help me God and his Saints. Sabaton brings history to life better than any history teacher I have ever met and are lightyears ahead of the sadists who forced me to memorise endless lists of names and dates in my schooldays - which of course I forgot as soon as I'd been tested or examined on them. I gather a few enlightened teachers are now using their songs as teaching aids!
I saw them in Nashville in October, my son gifted me the tickets for my 70th birthday. Best concert I have ever seen. Epica was great, but Sabaton was awesome. Their interaction with the crowd and the fact they obviously having the time of their lives on stage was amazing. I would guess they will be back in the USA in two years. Great reaction, keep rocking Sabaton.
I am a swede. My friend saw them about 15 years ago, it was the first time I ever heard of Sabaton. He told me about this wierd band with camo pants and bodyarmour singing about WWII.
So this is the Fan made video using footage from "Kingdom of Heaven" & "Arn: The knight Templar" both cover around the time of the 3rd Crusades which has noting to do with the song topic. which is really about the 1527 sacking of Rome and the Swiss Guard fighting to protect the Pope
Kingdom of Heaven is the movie which actually has nothing to do with the song. The song is about the Swiss Guard who sacrificed themselves to save the Pope during the sacking if Rome. The movie is about the crusades and the fall of Jerusalem many years earlier than the story the song is about. Still an awesome song from one of the best albums they have ever done. The Last Stand as a whole is one of the most complete theme albums they have produced. It has songs about historical last battles from around the world, the Greek Spartans to the Japanese Samurai. Great reaction as always.
@@petterrix3144 the video has mixed scenes from both Am and Kingdom ( Orlando Bloom is the star) and maybe other films. None of these have anything to with the Swiss Guard and Pope, a well made video nonetheless, just not relevant to the song.
I saw them a few years ago with Hammerfall, such an amazing show. I absolutely know what you mean. Great reaction, will always be back for sabaton and everything else of course!
You tell Sabaton are master lyrists and composers towards the end where they start to wordplay as well as make it go along with music is pretty advanced writing and musician skills
Hi. The video was edited from two films. The first film is called Arn the Temple Knight, and the second is called Kingdom of Haven. Both films are really good, especially the film ARN THE TEMPLE KNIGHT, which has a historical background, ok, both films have it, but the former is not so commercial.
As Kentolsson said parts of this cinematic is from a 2 part movie about Arn, a Swedish knight. Also some of the cinematics is from the movie Kingdom of heaven. This is not about the song though, i actually thought at first that this was about the battle of the holy land, but my son told me it was about the defence of the pope. Obv i had to check this out in the Sabaton history and now i know...See always learn new shit with Sabaton.
Hey, you picked a great video version of this song, my favourite. Even though the movie was about a completely different subject than the song it seems to fit extremely well. Brilliant editing by the person who posted it lol. As for seeing Sabaton, if you do get to Europe this summer to see them you'll get to see Babymetal at the same time, with all of their amazing new music, so It would be well worth the trip 🙂
I think this is a mix of Kingdom of Heaven and Arn - Tempelriddaren. The movies have NOTHING to do with the theme of the song. The song is about the sack of Rome in 1527 and the 189 Swiss guards that made a Last Stand to protect the pope.
Hey Anastasia! Interesting story about the bands' arrival. You'd obviously know better than anyone how much warm-up and prep Simone must need to do before a show, so obviously she did it on the bus, so good on her. Great job and Rock On! 🤘😎👍
But it has nothing to do with the lyrics, the Arn movie take place during 1150 and this song is a story about the Swis guard defending the Pope in 1527
Probably already know by now but on a quick browse I didn't see anyone list both movies. Just saw either Arn the Templar or Kingdom of Heaven but it's the two movies in the video. Both Templar movies and both pretty awesome.
Анастасия, а вы самого Олега Radio Tapok слушали? Я не про каверы, а про его личные два альбома. Они примерно в таком же стиле, как Сабатон, всё тоже на историческую тематику. Ну и каверы у него на Сабатон конечно шикарные.
I saw you on line at hammerstein I wanted too say Hi but didnt want to make it awkward , Hope you enjoyed the show I thought it was awesome. I actually jumped around so much I could barely walk after the show was over lol
I would like to make a suggestion for an artist that is VERY much connected to Sabaton but also to Floor from nightwish. And that would be Tommy Johansson. Tommy is one of the guitarists from Sabaton but he has also done the music to Floors covers of Frozen 2, adagio and oblivion. He has his own band Najestica where he is the singer, songwriter and guitarist and he has his solo project on YT making covers on YT. Tommy is the one that made the rearrangements of radio Tapo:s defense of moskow for sabatons cover too. For his covers usually his cover of “shes gone” from steelhart “ is suggested ( I do like his @ill never let you go” from the same band better ) but if you find a cover on his channel that you like the original of.. go for it .. have never heard him do a bad cover … but December is coming up and in that respect I would fully recommend to look at Majesticas “a Christmas carol” album .. what’s not to love about power metal musicals 😉 .. the song “ghost of Marley” is a great first song to tackle
Hello, this is wery nice (fan) video, it's just not about THE event this song is about... If you know the term "Swiss guard" (the guard that is protecting Popes) then THIS event is the one which gave rise to this tradition... at that day in 1527 they fought so boldly (and most of them to the death) that since then, for last 500yrs ONLY Swiss guard has that duty/honour...
I hope you read about the history behind all their songs so you know the historic background of them! You should have watched the live of this one because the movie in this video haven't anything with the history to do. The song's about the Swiss guard and the protection of the pope etc witch the film isn't!
I assume they don't go to the U.S. because the kind of music that Sabaton does, which is rock about history, is not appropriate for American fans because they only focus on the music and the melody and, the vast majority of them, they don't have historical knowledge so I think they, Sabaton, feel that their songs would not be fully appreciated; both in its melody and in its content. (With all due respect and without wishing to offend anyone, I say these words.)
I understand that you want to see them again, I have seen them live 9 times and I have still not had enough, their shows are f*ing addictive!
Awesome man! Just one more month and I’ll see them live for the first time. I’m so excited
