In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
This is the 28th episode of Taskmaster and I've only just now realised that the contestants sit in alphabetical order
Same!!!!!
What?
Oh. My. God.
o
Totally didn't notice that! Good observation 👍
The fact that Mark got 4 points for doing a timed task within 48 hours really goes to show how you should never give up 😂
Which led him to eventually win the episode! Good on you for noticing 👍☺️
Also, the fact that he remembered to record one while he was drunk!
What I'm surprised about is apparently Comedians don't know looking at the sun makes you sneeze
@@mr_mole1276 it only sometimes works for me! mostly when i've been in a car, for some reason...
@@mr_mole1276 it doesn’t work for everyone, but even if it did for one of them, it might have been cloudy out
This entire series should be called "Nish and Mark get way more points than they would ever deserve because everyone else got disqualified"
"This is our Moment!" Loved that task.
Ledgend has it this is the season that lead to them not giving the contestants pcp anymore lol
@@ConstantChaos1I need to see a series where the contestants are all drunk or high now.
@amywillows8335 ikr it would be amazing

You know you've been watching this show too much when Alex says, "We tested their ability to backthrow a swede" and you wonder if they mean a rutabaga or Fred.
I read this comment early and guessed incorrectly
Nish and Mark's bromance is the best thing of this series
It’s so good but at the same time so depressing when you contrast it with Mark not even notice his friend of 20 years Alex was missing in the spot the difference 😔
Man, I really liked him and Aisling, though
I find Nish incredibly annoying. First guest I really hate. Especially his over the top laughter. Love all the others though.
@@Jayk-kz7sh I'd give him the benefit of the doubt as a fellow glasses wearer. If my prescription is slightly off, a little old, or really new, seeing anything at a distance in detail is a struggle. The fact that "Alex" wasn't walking around or really even moving that much makes identifying him when his features are blurry ridiculously hard. I'd be less inclined to go easy if "Alex" walked around at all, but as he stood still at a distance, I'm willing to give Mark a pass.
34:03 WAITTT!! THAT AIN' ALEXX!!!
Alex's "oh my GOD" when he bit into the absinthe toast might be my favorite reaction from him. He was literally turning purple lmao. Sally Phillips is one delightful lunatic.

Despite her being maybe 15 years my senior I have to say I am very attracted to her, and increasingly so as the series goes on 😅
Sally > Mel. I love Sally
I love how for the prize round Nish went from a "shit" leaf to the coolest leaf ever
That’s a genuinely cool prize that I would actually want to own.
@@obi-wan-jacobi840 Remember, comedians lie for comedy...
They might also lie for points.
Greg Davies, at his most schoolmasterish: "I can ask you to tell me the truth."
Sally Phillips, at her most teenagerish: *simultaneously manages to roll everything above her neck*
You put it perfectly. He was suddenly SO teacherish that it seems to've forcibly regressed her back 30+ years 😂
He was a teacher...
@@MannyJazzcatsWe all know.
I am astounded that Aisling noticed the rug was swiveled around. Also Mark... I laughed so hard when he said bye to Alex with such cheerfulness.
"I've known Mark for 20 years..."

Its so cute how cheerful he was but it wasnt even his friend of 20 years my heart
I feel like I would have automatically assumed they had swapped it even if I didn't remember what it looked like before. It seems like an obvious thing to change.
the things i noticed were the carpet and the sign
I just realized that after the sneeze task, that isn’t Alex Horne. They did another switch just for the audience.

The fact that Bob Mortimer’s “Remnants of the memories of a withered cow” was the most similar to marmite I’d absolutely insane. Bob Mortimer is no mere mortal, he is what happens when God sneezes mid creation.
Bob is the god of absurdist weird comedy, and vic reeves
Or dusty fingerprints on an abandoned handrail
Between this and his stories on WILTY, I am fully convinced that Bob is a supernatural creature.
Yeah, and what really threw me for a loop there was MARMITE DOESN'T HAVE MEAT IN IT. I don't know where he got that idea from!
@@DraakjeYoblama The fact that it took him ten minutes to sneeze after INHALING BLACK PEPPER is enough to convince me of that.

Same thing popped in my thoughts too.
Aisling Bea gets more Irish as she gets angry. It's fantastic.
I'm waiting for the can tower task to show up hahaha
She's an embarrassment
@@okok72277 really? Im a Yank, but I like her. To me she's cute and funny.
Please to tell why you feel the way you do?
Ed Byrnes has the same thing, where he seems to get more stereotypically Irish the more agitated he gets.
@ellery eggen - Aisling’s a treasure! Some muppets are miffed because they rage at everyone who’s pointed out the U.K. leaving the E.U. is a giant mistake or who’s spoken up for women gaining reproductive rights in the Republic of Ireland, but you can safely ignore those grousers, because Aisling Bea is both widely and wildly beloved. 🤗🇮🇪❤️
How has nobody commented on the Bob's "*what makes you sneeze? Jumping really high?"*
Best line in the show
Only topped by "Do we strike you?"
"My anus is too high"
I was totally waiting for Greg to tear into that one myself!
I do appreciate the simplicity of '8 pounds'.
And then followed by him snorting all the pepper he could find ... !
I should have been clued in from the first task of the season, but the marmite task is when I really began to wonder about Sally Philips’ sanity.
I like her. So maybe I’m a weirdo.
I don't get why people are saying she's crazy
Pouring absynthe on your toast is normal. Right?
Shoving cake in a grown mans armpits while you lie directly on top of him? Cmon. Youre just not paying attention
@@LukeMcGuireoides So what? being creative is forbidden?
For some reason Nish and Mark's synchronised breakfast scene had no audio while I was watching it, and it turned it into an early French silent art piece.
I didn’t have audio either hmm
Either a copyright claim on the background music or the channel anticipating a copyright claim and removing the audio
Same
Lmao I thought it was supposed to be a silent film.
I think they had some music playing that they can't put on here
There's a very specific genre of older contestants being pleasantly surprised by the use of technology to display their prizes on this show, from Hugh Dennis always having his submission in his pocket to Bob going, "Oh there he is!" at the picture of his woodpecker.
ALEX SAYS "DOLPHINATELY" AT 19:50
Omg he does! (Also I didn’t expect to find you in the comment section of Taskmaster, Hank Green)
This a genuinely pleasant surprise seeing Hank the man watching british shows with us during this pandemic
I expect this to show up at some point in the vlogbrothers universe.
Nice seeing you here, Hank! I must say, I was quite pleased when you mentioned you had been watching Taskmaster! Love that you felt the need to comment this.
I'm back. This comes back so delightfully in episode 8... wait for it.
Sally Phillips is having the time of her life and I’m living for it
Most lovable psychopath ever!
It's so relaxing listening to the Sally do those instructions and then she almost killed Bob with that mug.
The fact of almost nobody noticing that Alex changed is sad and funny
Did you notice Alex changed though?

I’m glad I noticed it the first time but I had to double check to see if they didn’t do any other switched
In case it's not clear and you haven't seen the other comments mentioning at 34:00

Wherein Alex's heart is broken by a decades long friend. But for our entertainment. Good man.
"We can start with Mark, I've known Mark for 20 years."
Surrounded by comedians, it turns out that the actor - Sally Phillips - in episode after episode is the absolute lunatic who’ll put cake in your armpits and absinthe on your toast. 😂 Well dome, Sally!! 👍🏼 🇬🇧 ❤️
She was an absolute psychopath in this whole series, certainly a highlight.
She's a comedian as well though. She's had a great comedy show herself, and was part of Alan Partridge's gig.
i honestly didn’t think she would be my favourite of the bunch, but man - is that an awesome crazy lady. ended up absolutely loving her. what a fun and lovely human being.

I love Bob's "I was fucking shit" after his syncing performance.
Bob's sneeze legit made my heart happy. He looked so proud of himself.

I wish they'd show the tiebreaker tasks that don't get used in the episodes, maybe like a bonus episode or something :)
Better yet, all of the unused tie-breaker challenges get played in the final episode and are counted towards your final score.
I think it’s primarily so they can keep all of the unused tasks for future series. Plus I’m sure there are tasks that don’t really don’t go as well as production would’ve liked and could use some more troubleshooting before they are satisfied with the results.
The youtube channel should post them as shorts
@@shakester331 But they could show the other three contestants attempting the tie-breaker tasks we have already seen
I think they probably do a bunch of tasks and the boring ones are relegated to being tiebreakers, so they may be exceptionally unexciting and just straightforward.
The eyes, they're so angry.
Aisling: YOU'RE NOT FRIGHTENED OF ME, ARE YOU!
Alex: (clearly frightened) No, not at all!
To be fair, the main selling point of real marmite is that it's totally edible.
Which is something you wouldn't guess when tasting it.
I have a jar in my pantry that I’m too afraid to touch. It smells flammable though so I figured I could save it and use it as a small hand grenade if society collapses

I just love that footage of Sally Philips at 14:00 as she gets stuck between laughing and choking on absinthe toast. Also when Greg Davies asks her to tell the truth at 33:44 and she laughs in his face.
Looked more like a guilty laugh to me
There is something so amazing about Aisling genuinely guessing 'Alex is shorter'
24:32 I think that’s the face of Mark realizing, for the first time, that it’s not Alex in the changed scene.
watching this again after knowing about Alex’s fish puns to sally is hilarious, when he turned to the camera after saying ‘dolphinitely?’ hahaha
Is it just me or does Nish Kumar have really pretty eyes? 7:22
Adam Tak he’s just pretty all over, especially when he’s laughing
Sally is always the best dressed in every show I see her and I love it. She's so enchanting.
This show is amazing, but this has to be the best set of contestants - top to bottom. Bob is a treasure to the world. Aisling and Sally are just amazing in different ways. This is Nish at his best. Mark Watson was the one I was least familiar with. I just want to hang out with him after watching these episodes. What a perfect bunch of contestants.
Bob is amazing on WILTY too
I would LOVE to see a series with all of the WORST-SCORING previous competitors. They seem to be some of the funniest at doing the tasks.
Anxiety/depression has been kicking my ass the past couple days. Thanks for uploading another 45 minutes of serenity; this show is a gift.
Leave it to taskmaster to give us a little lift, right? Sending good thoughts to you!
I am a Alex horn
Helped me out loads over the last few years. Try 8 out of 10 cats does countdown if this helps, along with big fat quiz of the year(s)
I know that feeling well. When I discovered this show a few months ago, I was smiling and rolling on the floor laughing without a care for as long as an episode lasted. Was stunned after it was over to realize how much time had (happily!) passed and amazed by just how uplifting this goofy show is. Really took me out of my head for a bit.
I guess there are bright spots in the darkness, we just have to keep looking for them.
Take care ✌️
I feel this. In it together❤❤
Sally truely is a sadist. First episode she takes advantage of the task to feel up Alex, and this episode she tried to get him drunk
Where do I need to petition for a Mark and Nish show? I am just learning about this dynamic duo since this quarantine started. I am from America and I never knew about this show. I love it, but most of all when you get Nish and Mark together it's always gold, that Midas touch is shining through for the genius who chose to pair those two on this show.
I am uncertain what marmite is, but I'm sure I dont want any
It's just some delicious withered cow
It's basically a stalactite made out of marmots.
As an American, I had to look up what marmite was. Then when I came back to the video, everything that had loaded somehow unloaded and I had to wait a minute just to finish the episode. If this is what happens when I look up marmite, I don't think it's a good idea to taste it haha
To me it tastes like a mixture of rotten sourdough and cow dung, but some people can't get enough of it.
I tried Marmite in Oxford at the house of a pothead Canadian greeting card-heir who thought it was delicious, but I nearly threw up across the room just from the smell of his lifting its lid, then I quite literally gagged once I tasted it, so of course he gifted me the entire jar… then, months later, when I introduced it to my Scandinavian travel-friend, who only two days prior had persuaded me to try “delicious” gelatinous raw shark her grandfather had fermented in a dirt-pit for six months, at first taste she called Marmite “a yeast infection in a jar,” spat it out onto the ferry deck, then immediately turned to fling the whole jar overboard into a fjord, if that tells you anything - but some people swear by it!
Sally's absinthe on toast made me laugh so much I could not breathe. Truly Incredible that these episodes are available around the world for free.
34:03 This is my third time watching the series and I just realized that it's not Alex Horne sitting next to Greg! Nice callback to the previous task!
Exactly the same!
Funny to think that if Aisling just sneezed before 48 hours, she would've won the episode 😂
Actually, any time between that task starting and being in the studio!
I’m from America and watching task master is the only thing that’ll get me through this pandemic. I wish they upload more than one episode a week though.
Same here, but at least we get to do Hometasking!!
If they aired new episodes everyday, then we would’ve watched the entire series by now and no episodes to look forward to
We folks from the Colonies might have been at a bit of a disadvantage when it came to that Marmite task.

theres no reason to! it makes better TV for it to be random, especially when someone is failing miserably - it would just be wasted effort. i think at most they try to give people an opportunity to win an episode by putting some of their good tasks in one episode, but there are various contestants who never won

Mark getting 2nd place for his sneeze after 2 days is the weirdest sport result since the 1904 Olympic Marathon
This comment made me look up the 1904 marathon, and gods what a debacle. There was a fake winner who quit nine miles in and rode back to the stadium in a car. The actual winner was given strychnine and brandy to keep him going, had to be carried across the finish line, and survived only because several doctors were there in the stadium to save his life.
