yes and no. There are actually really good substitutes and it's absolutely nothing wrong if you sometimes want to get the tastes of your childhood or whole life before you went vegan
Some people are vegetarian or vegan but do miss the taste. And some people won't try vegan food because it doesn't have such flavour. So, despite I myself not into it I know that it works for plenty of others.
@@vommI agree to a certain extent. However, I have actually been a vegetarian since birth and I love eating veggie burgers. Of course, plant-based food is healthier than processed food, but even vegetarians are allowed to be human and enjoy a veggie burger, pizza or veggie “chicken nuggets.”
As a vegan I think it is great that you are open to trying new things and share it with everyone as a meat eater. Exactly this! Just as not every croissant at an omnivore place is up to your taste, the same will be true about croissants at vegan places. + If you're used to the taste of meat, fish, eggs, milk and so on, trying alternatives that you're not so used to mostly will taste a bit "weird" at first because your taste buds have to accommodate to the different taste over time to feel like second nature. (That's the thing that happened with milk alternatives. Most people find the taste weird, if not unpleasant at first, but if you drink it for a few weeks you will begin to like the taste and trying cow mothers milk after that time without it will taste weird to you, even when you loved the taste before.) As a general rule, most of the overly specific replacement products (like vegan salmon) will be a disappointment. There are some exceptions. Like many others have commented, it's best to have a "does it taste good?" attitude rather than a "does it taste the same?" attitude.
It would be easier to do that if they stopped doing things that ressemble salmon, sausages, chicken, etc... You buy "vegan salmon" and it tastes like carrot, because it is carrot. Of course you're disappointed. Plus, it's not because they look similar that they have the same nutrition input. They have to reinvent the marketing and create their own vegan things without trying to trick our brain with meat like things. If you're vegan and stopped eating meat, then don't eat things that resemble to meat.
I dare to say she used those terms on purposes to bring a wider public into chance for vegan food. Isn't easy to fool your body / usual frequency that eats meat, it is not easy to please your taste if you abandon sugar and meat almost to 95% when you are completely surrended by it IMHO she intended to use 'taste the same' as a way to merchandise vegan food as most of us weren't the most happy children when time came to eat vegetables :)
@@elfpiesomeanotherword I'm not saying you should eat only vegetables, just that you shouldn't expect meat replacement products to taste exactly the same. They don't, and that's fine.
One interesting replacement in sushi for salmon is a special marinated watermelon. It's still not quite salmon but it is very nice. I saw it on an iron chef episode They take a rich kombu/shiitake dashi, simmered down to concentrate the flavor and add a good soy sauce to it then they take cubes of seedless watermelon and pour the dashi/soy sauce over it and put in a vacuum chamber/ container and pull a vacuum a few times. It pulls the air out of the melon and sucks the dashi in. It turns a lovely deep reddish color. I tried it at home for fun and we used it in sushi it actually tastes lovely and not quite fishy but of the sea. We do the watermelon and juice trick too. Have you ever harvested or chose a meh watermelon? Well just grab your favorite juice and put in vacuum container/bag and pour the juice on. Pull a vacuum a couple of times and it flavors the watermelon with the juice. My grandkiddos love the surprise flavors. We've done white grape and white grape/peach flavored juices
I find it funny that you'd be surprised by the vegan/vegetarian options for the Vietnamese food. Some of my favorite vegan/veg are Vietnamese because they know how to make great "meat substitutes". I live in a big Vietnamese population in California so I am not short of places to eat, but I always come back to those vegan/veg places cause they are still so great when I'm in the mood for them.
So Cal?! Orange County was the first place I ever had vegan pho. Many ramen places are getting too good at simulating the fish taste and it freaks me out😅
In my experience this doesn't apply to most Vietnamese restaurants in the West though, because almost every dish on the menu has fish sauce in it. Maybe it's different in Cali but where I live the Vietnamese restaurants might as well put up big signs that read "Vegans keep out".
Oh yeah, Vietnam is basically a vegan wasteland, right? I mean, it's not like there are countless vegan restaurants everywhere or anything. She must be living in some tiny, remote village where they worship meat or something. Poor thing, probably has no clue that the rest of the country moved on from that centuries ago.
Exactly, the best, most convincing vegan restaurant that was trying to replicate meat I've ever tasted was in Ho Chi Minh city. Trully astounding. I had a vegan duck that was surprisingly close to the real one.
It's all about appreciating flavours and textures for their own merit. As a vegetarian/vegan for 16 years I truly believe you cannot compare meat with vegan substitutes but there is so much to enjoy in the thing itself, I haven't missed meat this whole time.
I'm quite open about trying vegetable-based dishes, but my one trip to a vegan restaurant was a complete disaster. There was literally not one thing on the menu that I could eat! It wasn't that everything was made of vegetables, but every menu item contained something that I happen to be allergic to. Why must they make everything out of oat bran, whole wheat, brown rice, and flax seed? I was expecting hummus, tofu, bean tacos, potato salad, whatever. Maybe that one restaurant was just weird, not a representative sample. I hope so, anyway.
@@MyFiddlePlayer lmfao that's so true!! i've been semi-vegan (mostly due to allergies) for years now, but this year i found out i've also got celiacs and suddenly realized all the popular meat substitutes are based on wheat and out of reach for me 💀 (a bad reaction to seitan actually made me connect the dots and look into getting tested)
@MyFiddlePlayer I've got the same problem with stuff advertised as vegan, but Im allergic to nuts, soy, and peas..... I didn't realize that gluten was an issue in meat substitutes as well!
@@Mewngiboongi Thank you, you put it so well! There was a vegan sausage I are for years before I went vegan because I liked everything about it better than the meat sausages I could have gotten. I really appreciate this experiment! And that even though you were skeptical at the beginning, you did not let that stop you from enjoying and giving due credit when dishes were as good or better than non-vegan/or non-plant-based ones. Hope this will encourage more plant-based eating at home!
Keep that attitude. A positive mindset is much more successful in getting people to change a little here and there. The usual vegan is absolutely annoying and makes you not want to join them. I've been living vegan for a year to try out the possible options. Worst part of the experience: vegans.
@@rebel4466sorry that you’ve had crappy vegans in your social circles. 😢 I’ve been vegan for five years now and I make sure I don’t give my friends a hard time about eating what they want. They know my reasoning for my choices and that’s all that matters.
Mediterranean has many "accidental" vegan dishes, hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush, eggplant in tomato sauce, and many more I can't remember. Italian food, pasta with tomato sauce, sauteen with peppers and onions. Mexixan food, bean and rice dishes. Grilled veggies for fajitas. And of course Indian food
But most of it can be easily substituted with oil. Instead of ghee, any nuteral flavoured oil can be used. However, there are a lot of desserts with diary, which really can't be substituted that easily. By cheese i think you mean cottage cheese, we do have a lot of cottage cheese curries. But, we Indians ourselves don't eat that everyday. There are so many natural vegan options in Indian food. 😊
Me and my bf have been vegan for 7 years now and we go on a trip to Berlin every 2 years or so specifically for the food! The second location you visited is where we went last time as well and it was our favourite spot

Would love to see you do this again with German boyfriend giving his ratings too behind the camera XD since you both have a lot of different food preferences. I love your channel and look forward to watching more videos :)
Going for cuisines with vegetable-rich traditions is always gonna win! I didn't have too much trouble finding vegetarian food in Vietnam, in the main cities.
I'm vietnamese, her saying there aren't a lot of vegan food in Vietnam is misinformation, which i don't blame her because she lives in the rural area. Over 10% of Vietnamese are Buddhist and its really not hard to find Buddhist restaurant which serves vegan food and for realllly cheap.
She lives in the rural in Northern Vietnam. Southern Vietnam has many kinds of food include vegan foods and cold food like many kinds of salads or sommer rolls and bánh mi, Desserts...
Came here to say the same thing. I was so confused when she said this because Vietnam has SO MANY dishes that are just vegan or vegetarian by default. My parents both come from rural areas in Northern Vietnam, and it's still known to us. And if you've been to a temple even just once (which I feel like most Vietnamese people have despite not necessarily being Buddhist) you'd know that there's always an array of vegan food served there. She probably grew up in a community that really didn't have much vegan food available but it's honestly still a bit surprising that she doesn't at least know about it.
I love her being so open and trying different things, especially when it comes to vegan food! It looked delicious, and I truly believe that everyone should try it at least once in your lifetime. She's super cute and I appreciate her content for sure, thanks for sharing this with us,uyen!
I was skeptical but this was a really nice video, i'm happy you were open to trying new things and i hope to see more of this kind of videos in the future !
I’m vegetarian (mostly plant based though) and Imo what restaurants (and in general the food industry) are doing wrong is trying so hard to imitate meat. Instead of simply going for dishes that were created to be vegetarian or vegan from the start. Asian cuisine especially has a LOT of vegetarian and vegan dishes that are very tasty and contain no meat whatsoever.
@@pollyfletcher-ee4lr I was thinking more of Indian, it’s mostly vegetarian, but also a lot of Chinese and Japanese dishes that are vegan or easy to “veganize” as you said. Most vegans (long term ones) don’t usually go nuts for fake meat.I’d rather have an honest, well cooked piece of tofu or some mushrooms instead of those processed soy “meats” and beet juice that imitates blood in a “rare” vegan steak. Why would I want something that looks like a bloody steak as a vegan, no idea.
this, 100%. i also generally wouldn’t recommend those “meat imitations “ because there’s nothing natural about them anymore. a wonder of chemistry for sure, but usually not great for your digestion
I've been vegan for almost 10 years and I really liked the taste of animal products. So while I mostly eat exactly as you've described, I also highly appreciate being able to have something similar to meat or fish every once in a while. Though, I do agree, if it reminds me too much of a bloody steak it freaks me out 😅
The problem is that some people that want to be/try to be vegetarian or vegan, want the food to be like meat; and I’m one of those that can’t see myself being fully vegetarian or vegan because it’s not exactly meaty enough. Also I’m big with authenticity, and it’s hard to make vegetarian or vegan authentic enough to taste the same or similar. It might be easy for some westerners to go vegetarian or vegan, but as a Asian American that would like to potentially duel citizenship with the eu/uk; and my cultural background is not going to convince me that most vegetarian or vegan food is going to be meat like enough or authentic enough for me to be happy. In general i can be vegetarian and vegan partly when I want to be, but will be more flexitarian of different diets/lifestyles.
I would love to go to that Berlin plant-based grocery store with a travel group and try all the unique creations! Made me so happy that Uyen is plant-based curious, adventurous, and open-minded!
I have been vegan for 20 years and I love all the new different options opening up and the international cuisine getting accessible for vegans eating out. Btw Baking Herrmann is a great channel who makes tradional plant based food from around the world.
Vegan foods are amazing indeed. I have to occasionally consume non-vegan options because I feel sick if I eat only vegan foods, though, and taking supplements isn't possible because I keep on throwing them up
I think the expectation that "it will be like meat" is why people get let down by vegan or vegetarian options, i think just being open mind enough to try without expectations would be more of an enhancing experience.
There are a lot of vegan options beyond soy, like cashew ice cream, that i really like (vs rice or oat ice cream). I also like some of the wheat/seitan based "meat" products vs the soy ones, except i think the mushroom-based "chicken" ones from Quorn are very good. Overall, where i live (Pennsylvania, USA) , there are a lot of options if you want something that is like a typical animal-based product. But the longer I've been eating this way, the more i appreciate eating food that don't try to imitate animal- based products.
Thank you for doing an episode over vegan food!😄I remember visiting Germany last year and thinking how incredible it was that practically every restaurant I visited had vegan options, not just vegetarian. I think of Germany highly in terms of the vegan world for sure! 🤗

The reason why you might have felt the Italian bakery’s black croissant was not very buttery is because it was not a croissant. As you can see it’s called cornetto and it’s what you would usually find in italy instead of croissants. The dough is different, there is less butter and more eggs (obviously in the non vegan version), so it’s a bit more bready than buttery
Awww I love this so much!!! I'm so happy this experience has made you willing to try vegan options at restaurants moving forward :) Thank you for being so open minded!
It sounds like they're putting too much in it. If they'd just replace the salt in the recipe with some soy sauce it would probably compliment the chocolate flavor well.
HEY! MISSUS NICE VIETNAMESE LADY! 😊 You did a video recently about eating dandelion. If you want to eat dandelion it is very nutritious, but must be picked very early in the morning or around dusk. When the plant starts changing sunlight into nutrition with its chlorophyll it becomes bitter. You must pick only the the smaller leaves very early or late in the day. It is best used in very flavorful salads or sauteed dishes. From a Canadian friend. It can be delicious if harvested and used right. ❤ From a Canadian friend
I had one of the best dates of my life in that Vietnamese restaurant. I don't live in Berlin anymore and this really hit me in the feelings... I wasn't expecting that!
This video makes me wanna try eating more vegan food! It's also very beneficial for our planet, I'm learning that in school right now. It would take to long to write it all down here but if you are interested, search how much farm land we use only to feed our animals and why eating less to no meat at all, could save our planet! Thank you for that Uyen!!!
I’m a vegan living in Australia, and I love Vietnamese restaurants in the city! There’s lots of delicious vegan options. I love bun hue and com chay! Always grateful to be able to try options within the Vietnamese cuisine.

Thank you for this Uyen! My sister lives in Berlin and i have always heard that in the city you can find a lot of options, i will take notes of the places you went, thank you for your open mind trying vegan food! 💗
This vid made me so happy 😊 I loved how open minded you were and gave your honest opinion about the food. Ppl often judge too quickly how something is going to taste which is so upsetting. There's tons of fantastic vegan food, as well as bad and that goes for all food, vegan or not. You are such a gem!
This is a wonderful video! Thank you for being open minded and giving vegan food a try! I recently bought a vegan Vietnamese cookbook but haven’t used it yet!
The fun part is that the more you look, the more vegan foods you'll see around! It's always a fun time for our house to see a new vegan thing and taste test it. Sometimes they are SO GOOD!! And sometimes I'm surprised they got past product testing 😂 Like many other comments, it is really important to look at it as it's own thing, and look for dishes that are trying to be good food, and not just vegan. Really delighted to see you willing to try so many things outside your food comfort zone! I hope you find lots of other really delicious vegan things you love!
Can't believe I don't know any of these places. Noting them down to go with my vegan friends. I have some other recommendations for vegan food in Berlin: Quy Nguyen (restaurant with actual main dishes completely vegan), Kim999 Vegan (vietnamese vegan sushi, less fancy than the place in the video but also yummy!) On my list for places to try: Veganaa (mongolian vegan dumplings) Vegan food isn't that hard to find in Vietnam - the problem is that most places that offer meat don't offer a vegan alternative and vegan places don't offer any meat. So whenever I go visit my family in Saigon I end up eating too much meat because we go to places that only have meat as most family members don't want to go without meat. I'm only a flexitarian but I really get tired of meat in Vietnam quickly. My family indulged me once by taking us to a buddhist vegetarian all you can eat place and for only 80.000 đ (less than 4 €) there was a huge selection of different vegetarian Vietnamese food!
This was very entertaining. I’ve been vegan for almost 10 years and my favorite cuisine is Vietnamese haha maybe I’m lucky with my city having lots of good options for vegans but I’ve never been to Vietnam!
As a vegan, I rarely try to imitate meat. The taste is much more important and there are so many delicious plant dishes, I don't miss most animal food products. The only thing I really miss are some cheese options and a runny sunny side egg.
I love how you are modeling to be open and curious and just give things a try to see how you like it. And Berlin is such a great place to try vegan options ❤ Hamburg also has quite a few Vietnamese vegan places that make fantastic tapas style food - tastes great and looks beautiful, like the one you tried in this video.
You were munching around the corner from me. 🥙 😋 We have so many Asian vegan restaurants here. Vegan Döner with Seitan as a meat substitute are not particularly popular in Berlin, much more so the Gemüsedöner with roasted veggies - so yummy. You could come more often to Berlin to our countless Vietnamese restaurants and report. It's always a pleasure to see you chatting and enjoying food. 🙋🏼♀
Uyen I am a vegetarian, I loved that u tried these because I have mostly seen u eating non veg, thats a very brave step. Also plz try Indian cuisine, I want to see ur reaction Love love❤❤
The brown “pumpkin” I wonder if it got mis-translated and is kanpyo, a dried gourd. It’s usually in the list of “basic” veggie rolls along with the cucumber, carrot, and burdock (gobo) rolls so should be able to find it at a regular sushi restaurant. I highly recommend trying it again by itself without the cream cheese. It’s my favorite! A little sweet, umami, and slight crunch. Yum yum. I’ll get futomaki and then eat around it so my last bites can be all kanpyo 😂
Now you're making me want to go to Berlin ❤ also I've been to Vietnam before as a vegan and I enjoyed it and loved how easy it was to find it... I went to HCMC 3x and Hue once.

My easy hack for dairy-free whipped cream (if you live in a city, I can't usually find it in smaller towns) is to buy a can of coconut cream and then put it in the fridge overnight. I add some sugar and vanilla extract and whip it up. It definitely tastes more like coconut than whipping cream, but I like the flavor, and it's so nice to have it in the cupboard and not have to go out and buy fresh cream every time! Also lactose-intolerant friends are always very appreciative.

I wished there were vegan places in all German towns. Eating vegetarian food is possible quite easily, but if you're on a journey just somewhere in Germany and try to eat vegan, there are a lot of difficulties
Almost anywhere in Germany, even really remote villages, you can find Italian restaurants. There you can usually eat pasta aglio olio or pomodoro and pizza fungi or vegetariana without cheese.
When I eat vegan or vegetarian, I don’t order things trying to recreate meat or cheese, but I can see the appeal for people who have changed completely to the vegetarian/vegan diet and might miss the dishes or flavours of their earlier days.
I've been vegetarian for about ten years, but I've kind of always liked fake meat better than real meat? It's a texture thing, for me. The vegetarians I know have pretty mixed opinions on the subject of fake meat. I think the stereotype is that most people go vegetarian/vegan for very strong ideological reasons, but in my experience, lots of us just don't like meat that much, and have medium strength moral convictions.
See this is interesting to me because I was raised pescatarian but chose to become vegetarian when I was 7, and I really like some of the meat substitutes

Really glad to see you be so open-minded towards trying vegan food. ☺🌱I have to say that even though there are lots of vegan "meat-like" substitutes out there, in my opinion the best vegan dishes are most of the time the ones without them. Lentils, chickpeas, beans, nuts, tempeh, seitan, and tofu make incredible vegan sources of protein. Many vegans and vegetarians I know, including myself, most often appreciate the flavors those ingredients bring by themselves over vegan meats. 😄 I know that you wanted to try and see how similar vegan meat tastes to real meat and that's totally alright! They're usually 50/50 in being a hit or miss though hahaha. Indian cuisine has a lot of great vegetarian and easy-to-veganise dishes. I really recommend you trying those out sometime! Love u always Uyen. 😽💗

It makes me so happy when people give vegan food a chance! I think the label scares a lot of people or people think you have to be 100% vegan all the time and that's a lot of commitment, but if more people chose vegan/plant-based options sometimes it would make a big difference. I'm not vegan, but eat plant-based meals every day and this made me want to visit Berlin😊

I hope you would try next time you go back to your home country. Banh mi and pho were my favourites!
The trick to vegan and vegetarian food is to think of it as its own thing and stop trying to think of it as a substitute for something else.
yes and no. There are actually really good substitutes and it's absolutely nothing wrong if you sometimes want to get the tastes of your childhood or whole life before you went vegan

Tbh the vegan salmon slices for bread is good
I dare to say she used those terms on purposes to bring a wider public into chance for vegan food.
Isn't easy to fool your body / usual frequency that eats meat, it is not easy to please your taste if you abandon sugar and meat almost to 95% when you are completely surrended by it
IMHO she intended to use 'taste the same' as a way to merchandise vegan food as most of us weren't the most happy children when time came to eat vegetables :)
I saw it on an iron chef episode
They take a rich kombu/shiitake dashi, simmered down to concentrate the flavor and add a good soy sauce to it then they take cubes of seedless watermelon and pour the dashi/soy sauce over it and put in a vacuum chamber/ container and pull a vacuum a few times.
I had a vegan duck that was surprisingly close to the real one.
thats cause lots of vietnamese are buddhist lol.
Every time you go to a buddhist temple in vietnam, you can find "vegan/vegetarian" food.
@@MyFiddlePlayer lmfao that's so true!! i've been semi-vegan (mostly due to allergies) for years now, but this year i found out i've also got celiacs and suddenly realized all the popular meat substitutes are based on wheat and out of reach for me 💀
(a bad reaction to seitan actually made me connect the dots and look into getting tested)
Now I still prefer it to almost all other kinds of vegan sausage around. I‘m so sorry to hear of your allergies @MyFiddlePlayer and @rtqpcrxn
@@MyFiddlePlayer Oh by golly, that's annoying. I'm vegan but there's not really any vegan or vegetarian restaurants near where I live so I just cook things myself.
As a vegan, I find your open-minded attitude refreshing!
Would you be open-minded and give meat a try?
@@psycryptic It WAS my open mind that led me to become vegan, too late in life, in my adulthood. Same open mind has allowed Uyen to try vegan food. On the other hand, unfortunately, YOUR narrow mind is what made you ask me this. So hopefully, even if late in life, you too will OPEN YOUR MIND! Take care!
@@csdragonfly I don't think newly explored morality is gonna make me move.
@@psycryptic You never know! I became a vegetarian in my twenties, a vegan in my thirties. I'm 50 now. It's never too late!
@@csdragonflyare you aware how harmful veganism is to the environment? Do you know more animals die because of it? Do you know how harmful it is for your health and can cause you to be a burden on the medical health industry, your family and employers?
Am I the only one that thinks it would be so fun to watch Uyen try cooking vegan takes on Vietnamese food? I think she would be so good at it! Especially since she seems to prefer making things from scratch.
Indian food tends to have so much dairy xD I have a really hard time finding vegan Indian food
@@againstthewaves1 yes you are correct, I forgot about that. They do use a lot of cheese and ghee.

As a almost 10 year vegan, I am very glad you made this video and gave some vegan food a try. You made me want to travel to Berlin :) it looks like they have some awesome stuff. Would love to see you do this again with German boyfriend giving his ratings too behind the camera XD since you both have a lot of different food preferences. I love your channel and look forward to watching more videos :)
Same! I want to travel to Berlin now! I also second the idea of German boyfriend joining you and trying out vegan food!
LOL she must have not been to the south. Can't imagine someone say there're not a not of vegan food. So wrong.
She lives in the rural in Northern Vietnam.
Southern Vietnam has many kinds of food include vegan foods and cold food like many kinds of salads or sommer rolls and bánh mi, Desserts...
Me finding out Vietnam is only 10% Buddhist! Is there another prominent religion or is the country secular post-socializing ?
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory Yes the Cao Dai, they also do not eat meat ....
Give some pork on your fork
I almost never use substitutes, not because I think they are bad or sth. I just love naturally vegan dishes. I never miss the meat in there :3
This made me want to visit Berlin so bad! I love your positivity about the food even if you're not vegan yourself
Agreed.
“Vegan Chuchi” warmed my heart. Loved the video and thank you for showcasing some cool spots in Berlin.
I would love to go to that Berlin plant-based grocery store with a travel group and try all the unique creations! Made me so happy that Uyen is plant-based curious, adventurous, and open-minded!
I recommend putting the vegan salmon on a bagle with vegan Remoulade, lettuce, cucumber and Dill and a squeeze of lemon (Zitrone) 😍🤤
Just remember if you don’t like one version of vegan food, that doesn’t mean you won’t like another version or from another cook.
I have been vegan for 20 years and I love all the new different options opening up and the international cuisine getting accessible for vegans eating out.
Btw Baking Herrmann is a great channel who makes tradional plant based food from around the world.
His Italian series was soo good!
Vegan foods are amazing indeed. I have to occasionally consume non-vegan options because I feel sick if I eat only vegan foods, though, and taking supplements isn't possible because I keep on throwing them up
I usually cook at home, so when I go out I like to have things that are more difficult to make at home. A lot of vegan food is like this.
Wunderbar!
Sauce Stache is also good. he's more of a mad scientist who likes to experiment and delve into more of the science of mock meats and stuff.
But the longer I've been eating this way, the more i appreciate eating food that don't try to imitate animal- based products.
as a vegan, thank you for making this video! vegan food is for everyone!
I have seen you relish meat so much , i am glad you gave vegan a try and were not disappointed, congrats to you and the restaurant too
Thanks so much for trying! The animals would appreciate it. After having worked on a dairy farm, I can tell you, going vegan is the only way to go.
That mist have been absolutely horrible, I"m sorry. Veganism is truely the only way to go ❤
Would love for you to share your insights from working on the diary farm. What exactly changed your perspective?
Thank you for doing an episode over vegan food!😄I remember visiting Germany last year and thinking how incredible it was that practically every restaurant I visited had vegan options, not just vegetarian. I think of Germany highly in terms of the vegan world for sure! 🤗
omg i love that y'all chose bocosaurus for the vegan vietnamese section ❤ i love arc de soleil. it's so cool that they make royalty free music, cuz it all sounds awesome!! (imo)
Idk why but your videos and reels are always so comforting, so thank youuu 🤗
Awww I love this so much!!! I'm so happy this experience has made you willing to try vegan options at restaurants moving forward :) Thank you for being so open minded!
Chocolate cake with fermented soy sauce does not sound good at all. You were brave to have tried it.
I mean it looked good why wouldent you try it! Lol
It sounds like they're putting too much in it. If they'd just replace the salt in the recipe with some soy sauce it would probably compliment the chocolate flavor well.
Next time you're in Berlin try DoenDoen kebab. It's so much better than Vöner.
Absolutely, I agree!

The fun part is that the more you look, the more vegan foods you'll see around! It's always a fun time for our house to see a new vegan thing and taste test it. Sometimes they are SO GOOD!! And sometimes I'm surprised they got past product testing 😂
Like many other comments, it is really important to look at it as it's own thing, and look for dishes that are trying to be good food, and not just vegan. Really delighted to see you willing to try so many things outside your food comfort zone! I hope you find lots of other really delicious vegan things you love!
Can't believe I don't know any of these places. Noting them down to go with my vegan friends. I have some other recommendations for vegan food in Berlin: Quy Nguyen (restaurant with actual main dishes completely vegan), Kim999 Vegan (vietnamese vegan sushi, less fancy than the place in the video but also yummy!)
On my list for places to try: Veganaa (mongolian vegan dumplings)
Vegan food isn't that hard to find in Vietnam - the problem is that most places that offer meat don't offer a vegan alternative and vegan places don't offer any meat.

Aaahhh! I got so excited for this video! Berlin is so lovely! As someone who eats vegan, it's like a vegan heaven, haha.

AHHHHHH IM SO EXCITED my partner and I are considering moving to Germany when I finish my degree, but were vegan so this is great research 🥹 also love seeing you try things! My fav vids!

Berlin ist great 😍 vegan heaven 💚 but Cologne (Köln) for example is also an amazing place to live as a vegan, or Bonn, a smaller town nearby... I guess most cities with students or towns with some "alternative thinking" population, but I even found amazing vegan places in towns where I didn't expect it... 😁

All I will say is that vegan food is not just for vegans, it's for everyone. I've been vegan for 5 years, and was vegetarian for 30 years before that. Close to half my life. We don't need meat to stay alive.
Vegan for the Animals 💚
I thank you for giving vegan a go and the animals thank you also. Berlin looks like a great place for vegan food options. Well done Berlin! ❤
This truly was one of your top 10 videos in my opinion. you are so personable and open and honest and cute lol, appreciate the honest opinions on vegan foods, wish more were in USA, atleast where I live. You and Fiance' are so funny and enjoyable to listen to and watch, thank you for the past 2 yrs Ive watched you both. :)
My best vegan food experience was in DaNang and Hoi An. Being an Indian vegetarian living in US, i had never felt any vegan food to be tasty and flavourful, that i would choose it over regular vegetarian indian food, but my trip experience in Vietnam changed that prejudice. I hope you would try next time you go back to your home country. Banh mi and pho were my favourites!
