The explosion of passion, self-expression and strange qualities that came out from the UK between 76-80 is utterly unique and pisses all over anything and everything being touted as music and bands today. How can we get that energy and attitude back, we need it more than ever.
I saw the Penetration in 2010 in Glasgow, and I'll tell you it was simply a dream come true. My best Xmas present in 1978 was Moving Targets and I never thought I'd see them. It was a brilliant gig and the energy from the band, with Pauline's ethereal vocals was simply hypnotic and dare I say it induced NOSTALGIA.
i'm not even that old... sounds like my older brother who buggered off to motown cos some burd said he should and then wondered why the rank stench of soul wasn't welcome..
At Cambridge Corn Exchange, unhappy at high entry costs, they refused to play until the promoter agreed to give everyone about a quarter of their ticket money back as they came in. They chatted to us outside and live, they were legendary. A massively under-rated, decent, genuine bunch.
Hi Nigel, lovely to hear from you and to now have a way of contacting you!. I often think about the good times we had! I'm not certain but pretty sure that gig was in '79.@@nigelkimberley3974
This session is probably the reason my dad bought Moving Targets back when it was released. IIRC it's on glow in the dark vinyl, could be wrong since he hasn't played it in a while.
Thanks for uploading. The band sound great on this session i always thought they were a great band that should have gone on to bigger and better things, Paulene has a very good quality to her voice.
I noticed the same thing. She doesn’t quite have the same range as Debbie, but very much like her “basic vocal style. She’s really quite good. I can’t believe I’m just now discovering her in 2023!
Saw penertration before the split a few years saw penertration again had a good discussion off politics she told me that hat she do to Tories she liked it that I saw her live at 15 and at 50 odd bless xxxxxx
thanks for the download vibracobra, i agree with all tnhe coments i've read, had i been born ten years ealier i would have been really into penetration, alas i was a mere chil in the 70s. this is how music & bands SHOULD sound. Todays generation have been robed of great innovative bands and music. Long live L.P's :0)
why so? I really enjoyed your guitaring with Penetration back in the day and i hope you did too. First time I've listened to them ages and it sounds really alive and youthful. Not like anyone else either, even if it carries the rock format quite strongly (eg twiddly guitar bits) but it never spoilt it and less rockish here than on the LP. Anyway, with that LP you all brightened up my mid-teens. So, genuinely, thanks very much.

First Band I ever saw "Live" back in 78 at Bradford University.. Brilliant band.
First Punkband I saw at The Marquee London '77 Together with The Vibrators.
54 for me! First “Punk” band I saw at Newcastle City Hall supporting the Buzzcocks aged 14.

Great band saw them live in Nov 78 in York's Oval Ball.
Pauline Murray has a great voice. Actually, Penetration was a hell of a good band.
They still are. Saw them last November for the uptine time.
Check out their INCREDIBLE reunion album "Resolution" (2015)!
Superb! Cant say more.
Beautiful voice.
OK !!!! :) She has a beautiful ring to her voice that at best sounds like Debbie Harry.

You couldn’t get away with naming a band “Penetration” today...you’d have to name it “Engulfment”
Or sex without consent?
