    I still got a long way to go, but I just went from 500lb to 470 in 14 days. I’m doing a combination of intermittent OMAD fasting, and a few days dry fasting each week. Thank you you so much Dr Eric for helping to educate us! I never thought it would be possible to get my weight under control again, but so far it’s working unbelievably well.. Watch this space! 😎

    Growing up in Africa, I wondered why we had great immune systems, and it wasn't like we were starving, or had no food. It's like we were practicing intermittent fasting without knowing.

      I work in the health field as a nurse. I never caught the flu for the past 5 years after I moved here. Once I adapted to the system here I started getting sick with the flu and a few other things America is wealthy but I never experience depression until I moved here this explains why we are happy in spite of our situation in Africa.

      Intermittent fasting isn't the reason 🙃.
      Try to eat junk food only along with intermittent fasting and come back in 3 months to speak about immunity 🤣.
      Try to have a very healthy diet without doing intermittent fasting and the same, come back in 3 months. Your immunity will be great.
      Intermittent fasting is a minor factor. Intermittent fasting just enhance things for people who do have originally a proper diet and healthy lifestyle.
      And about depression if it helps it's only because food is absorbed by depressed people juste like hard drugs is by drugs addicted people 🙃. Intermittent fasting will force depressed people to have less up and down moments in their daily life cause they cannot eat throughout the day. It's nothing magical, nothing the solution. It doesn't fix the roots of depression. It just limits factors aggravating the depression.
      And in Africa if not eating 3 meals a day or more was the solution to get a strong immunity, it would have been visible from a while 💩.
      And what about Muslim populations in Africa. Ramadan is like intermittent fasting. Improvement? Close to ZERO because no healthy diet behind.

I'm halfway to my weight goal and feel confident for the first time in many years that I am going to get there sometime in 2022, and most importantly, KEEP IT OFF this time! It's astounding how NOT hungry I am compared to past "diets" and how much energy I have when fasting. The best thing of all is NO nasty blood sugar swings and feeling like I'll die if I don't eat right this minute. I love that so much! This is Dr. Berg’s best video for a simple explanation off keto/fasting! I am 78 years old and started a keto/fasting diet a year ago. I love bread and was a savory snacker. I worked full time until this summer in a desk job, not too much, if any, formal exercise routine. The process absolutely works! I started at 176 lbs. I was always obese and topped the scales at 250 lbs at 5’2” all. I did not work with a doctor or a diet plan. Just started fasting and eliminating carbs and snacking. A miracle after all the years of crazy fad diets, pills and even by-pass surgery. Lost 80 lbs after surgery and kept it off for 10 years, but stared to gain again! Today I am 123 lbs and still losing. Never hungry and can do one meal a day with no problem. People are shocked when I say my age. The benefits are truly amazing. Thank you Dr. Berg!

    I'm down 104 lbs and only eating 3 days a week! I absolutely love it!! I'll never eat every day again...no need to! Feeling much better, sleeping better, not obsessed with food anymore, blood pressure under control. I don't do keto really because I still like my goodies once in a while but it's only a few times a year like my birthday and stuff and then it's right back on the next day. Very easy to do and I thank God because He led me to this way of life. Never, ever thought that I could go so long without food but it's the easiest thing I have ever done. I'm trying to do keto but I know myself, and I'll probably never give up sweets completely but I definitely don't eat as much of them as I used to and they don't even taste as good anymore which makes it easier to pass it up. I'm 66 years old and female and I'm not having any problems losing the weight. I do take vitamins/minerals and the wheatgrass powder on my fasting days...just ordered the nutritional yeast tablets.

My doctor said if I don’t eat then the fat holds on to me and slows down my metabolism so I continue to gain weight . This makes me eat when I don’t feel like it afraid of weight retention .This is the first time I have ever heard a doctor say one meal a day is ok . As I type this I am starting to cry . But now that I am not the "standard American" (because I don't eat the SAD) my mental health is greatly improved. In fact, I get anxious and upset when I can't go outside to walk. For anyone watching this and feeling hesitant. It really does help you feel less hungry and have more energy. It does take a bit of practice to get used to, but your body does adjust and you can fast for longer and longer times without feeling extremely hungry. I do alternate date fasting, one day fasting and no food and then the next day I wait until lunch or dinner and have a big meal. The first time I tried fasting I felt awful, now fasting days are my favorite, I can think straight and get things done and eating days I am sluggish and tired, especially if I eat early or give in to a snack.

      @@lawrencedsouza7965 hi there, first and foremost I stopped consuming anything sweet. I used to drink coke or eat sweets frequently but I have been very disciplined and so far for the past 2 months I haven’t touched them. That helped me greatly, and regarding the diets, I initially started with 16 hrs IF for 2 weeks and then later when my body got adapted to it, I did OMAD. I have tried keto but honestly I just thought it wasn’t practical and wasn’t gonna be possible for me to make it as my lifestyle. Can’t keep away from carbs forever, that’s my thought. But if you can do Keto plus IF then that’s gonna bring you the best results. For myself, with OMAD or 16 hrs IF I eat home cooked meals, less oily and less carbs, and I eat normal portion where my stomach feels perfect. Not too much nor too less food. I drank plenty of water and everyday I do 2 hrs of weight training in gym in morning and in the evening I go for 10k steps daily. Once in 2 or 3 weeks I reward myself with 3 times meals but that too home cooked or anything not too oily, and definitely no sugar. And also I do twice or thrice 48 hrs water fast in a month. @@lawrencedsouza7965 a small tip, I think regarding the sweets, my advice would be to read as many articles and watch as many videos as possible on how white sugar and sweet in general harms our body. I promise you, once you know how deadly it is, you would want to stay away from it. That has helped me tremendously. One more tip to stay on your weight loss journey and not let your motivation dries up is to keep the worst looking photo of yourself as a phone wallpaper. People usually keep their best photos right? But try doing the opposite, try finding a photo where you look the most chubbiest and heaviest and keep it as a wallpaper so that it will work as a reminder how much hard work you need to put in. This has helped me so much, I swear. There have been days where I feel like having a cheat meal or skipping workouts but then I see myself in the phone wallpaper and it instantly gives me a message then I don’t like seeing myself this way and I gotta change how I look.

    My pattern at the moment: 1 eating day - 1 full fast day (alternative fasting) + Keto.
    Eating day: around 6-7 hrs window: protein bowl; veggies bowl; fats bowl;
    Fasting Day: Througout the day I consume Water + Pink Salt and 1 of each: Black Coffe + Curcumin; Green Tea + Ginger; Electrolytes; Carbo Water + ACV + 1 Lemon;
    I also workout 5 days + 1 HIT + 1 Rest. Doesnt matter whether I have a full fast day or not.

    • @RawHunterX
      @RawHunterX 2 роки тому

      Protein: any fatty meat, because I workout a lot I do 2 protein meals though.
      1st Protein Meal: I usually do a PALM of either beef or pork, I cut it as much as possible so it grills nicely.
      I cook the meat either on a grill pan or a multi cooker. I add NOTHING over it. I then reuse the fat that remains and put it over salad.
      2nd Protein Meal: Goat Cheese + 3-5 Eggs + Sardines/Salmon/Cod Liver.
      I also add some spices: Black Pepper, Thyme, Oregano, Basil.
      Veggies: pretty much what Dr. Berg mentotions all the time.
      Steamed: Brocolli, Cauliflower, Brown Mushrooms and Asparagus, a bit from each. I also add a very tiny bit of green pepper.
      Raw: Olives, piece of garlic, cabbage or green salad.
      I also add a table spoon of :Ghee and Maionese (try to avoid Soy, Corn and Vegetable oils). + Some Nutritional Yeast.
      I end the "carbs" (fiber) with a palm of Black Berries.
      Fat: this is where I do a bit more since I workout intensive and I have a 24+ hrs fast. I do 2 bowls. If you have a shorter fast, stick only with the 1st bowl.
      1st bowl: Half of a Dark Chocolate (99% cacao) + 1 Full Avocado + 1 Teaspoon High Fat Butter + 1 teaspoon Coconout Oil (or butter) + 1 teaspoon Almond Butter + 1 teaspoon Black Tahini
      2nd: 4-6 cups of High Fat Cream + a few of any high fat/fiber nuts and seeds. I use: Macademia, Pecan, Brazillian, Forest, Walnuts, Pumpkin, Sunflower , Chia, Pine and Flaxseed.
      The main idea is: Feast and Fast.
      I go a bit overboard with callories when I eat, then I use everything I ate for a longer period. (Over 24h).
      Before, I used to do fasting every day (22hrs vs. 2 hrs window) + 2 Full Fast days
      But I was gaining too much weight because I was eating too much for a longer period and then when fasting I was removing the weight.
      The result would be: 5 days looking a bit bloated, 2 days looking shredded.
      By alternating, I keep it more in the middle.

    IT WORKS! Please try it! I did this for 33 days in the summer and lost 20 lbs during that time. I have kept it off! The schedule I followed was 9am -5pm. At (6pm/7pm) I did a 3 mile walk around town every night. The picture results are insane even after 3 days! For someone who has tried everything... this is the only thing that works for me! I ate 2-3 meals and barely snacked ( not a snacker ). I also had my gallbladder removed a few years ago and almost every day I had some type of stomach pain until I tried this! For that full month, I had zero pain! I also did not eat junk!
    The only reason I stopped was a change in my work schedule ( had to switch to overnights) it completely threw me off. I use it as a tool and use it every now and then once a month to shed a few pounds. After day 7, you will not want to stop! It really is a powerful tool and works wonders! If you are considering this, please start tomorrow!!!
    TIPS- meal prepping will make it easier! Brush your teeth early at night so you don't crave anything! BE STRICT AT THE CUT-OFF TIME! I didn't care if I couldn't get all my meal in or if it was 5:02pm, at 5PM I CUT IT OFF! I did not give in! KEEP FOCUS! Take pictures of the progress because you will notice a HUGE difference in just a few days! Weigh yourself only once a week! I weighed in on Mondays! DRINK WATER!
    GOOD LUCK! And remember why you clicked on this video!

    Great points. I'm one of those success stories. I dropped 50 pounds and reversed diabetes mostly through ADF (alternate day fasting). I saw inspirational stories by ordinary folks for whom ADF worked and decided to give it try. It was very challenging at first, but eventually my body got used to it. The benefits (in addition to reversing diabetes) are just as Dr. Berg pointed out. What's really remarkable is that I was eating pseudo-keto so the improvements are mostly due to the fasting. I'm realizing more gains as I fine tune my diet more to true keto. I did fall off the wagon a bit in that right now I'm not doing strict ADF all the time and my eating days are split between OMAD and 2 meals per day, but I'm still realizing huge health benefits the most notable being lack of hunger and elimination of brain fog. My personal experience suggests that variety in the eating schedule is helpful provided it has a strong foundation of fasting. No doubt about it, fasting is probably the most powerful tool in the arsenal for good health. Even more so than diet and exercise.

    The #1 thing is planned and structured diet, because the only way for your body to burn fat is to use it as energy. Basically, you need to eat below your energy maintenance level (in terms of calories) and your fat cells will be used to compensate the missing energy (calories). That's how your body works. There are other things to consider as well, such as hormonal status, diseases... but caloric deficit is a must. You have a lot of diet helpers and calculators, like Nextlevel diet for example... Losing weight is just a simple math, really...

    I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks by fasting. Like Dr. Berg said, I started with 3 meals, and went down to 2 meals a day. My eating window was from 1pm - 7pm I lost the weight so fast. But sad to say I fell off my dieting and picked the weight back up.
    Now I’m in detox mode and I been fasting again for about a week. I currently weigh 309, my ideal weight is 225… I stand 6’1 …. It’s time to get it!!!!!!

    Dr. Berg, thank you so much again for all of your help. I am truly grateful I was able to speak with you earlier this year. I tried my best, but my mom died in September from liver cancer. I have been binge watching your videos all morning, and I am committing myself “again” to getting the rest of this weight off. I don’t know if you remember, but when I started your program I told you I lost 135lbs. I was almost 500lbs at my heaviest and was at a dress size 30/32. I am currently in a dress size 18/20. Wish me luck Dr. Berg. For now, I am doing OMAD and will be working my way back to healthy keto with OMAD. I can’t wait to show you my results. Thank you 🙏🏾

    I want to share my incredible journey of losing 6kg weight in just 27 days! Yes, you read that right - I went from 83kg to 77kg, and I couldn't be happier.
    The secret to my success was adopting an intermittent fasting routine with a 20:4 ratio. I ate during a specific 4-hour window every day, from 11 am to 3 pm, and fasted for the rest of the day. To break my fast, I would have a banana, apple or any fruit which gave me the energy I needed to start my day.
    I also made sure to drink at least 4 liters of water every day. Staying hydrated helped me feel fuller for longer, and it also helped me avoid sugary drinks and carbonated beverages.
    I followed a vegetarian diet, and I focused on eating low-carb, low-sugar foods. I avoided junk food, alcohol, and anything with added sugars.
    And here's the best part - I didn't even need to go to the gym! I just followed my intermittent fasting routine and stuck to my healthy diet, and the weight started melting away.
    My weight goal is 70 kg, and I'm confident that I can get there with the same routine. I'll keep you all updated on my progress, so stay tuned! If I can do it, so can you!

    I have been a sugarholic most of my life. I’m 58 now and over weight for the last 19 years. I have tried keto several times in the past with little success. Three weeks ago, I am really noticing how unhealthy I am, so I decided to do it differently this time. I went on a 4 day fast to kick off my diet, and boy was that the way to go! My hunger pretty much went away, my sugar and carb cravings are MUCH less than they ever were. I’m down 3 weeks later from 250 to 233, and still losing weight. I eat one meal a day, about 5 in the evening, mostly meat, fat, and protein and drink only water. I find myself enjoying ice water much more than I ever did, and drink probably a gallon a day. My goal is 175 to 180, and I’m going to get there this winter!

    i've been fasting periodically throughout the past couple of years, what i noticed and what works better for me is to continuously break out of the fasting period randomly, as opossed to establishing a breaking point pattern where ur body adapts to it and fasting would have less goodness than it otherwise would.

    • @cherylh4688
      @cherylh4688 2 роки тому +2

      So are you meaning that you break your fast (have your first meal of the day) at random times? (I ask bcz "intermittent fasting" is often used interchangeably to mean time-restricted eating, but that isn't what IF really means.) And if so, then do you usually eat when you start to feel hungry, making that the factor that determines when you eat your first meal or do you choose your timing based on something else?

    • @dark.l7993
      @dark.l7993 2 роки тому +5

      @@cherylh4688 before i answer i just want to make it known this isn't the ideal way to fast(at least i'm not claiming so), while it might be the case for me, it doesn't automatically mean it should apply to everyone else, the way i do it is i fast for a period of time which's span is not prethought and often depends on how i feel than not, i don't schedule my fast breaking like i used to anymore, i end up with randomized periods of fasting(24hours this week, 30 hours next week.. etc), whereas before, i would literally schedule my fasting periods with needless precision.

      You have to mix it up or else you'll go on a plateau, our ancestors diet was feast or famine sometimes they binge eat when there's plenty of prey and there are times when food is scarce so they go days without eating big game meats. During this time they gather whatever food they can find on the ground, water or trees like seeds, edible plants, roots(tubers) and whatever small animals they can find. I try to mimick the ancestral eating patterns of feasting on days while restricting food every other days only eating one meal each day. Seems to work great on my mood and overall energy levels.

      @@dark.l7993 Thank you for explaining, DL. And actually, the way you manage your fasting "schedule" sounds a lot like what our ancestors did: breaking their periods of fasting (not eating) whenever food became available, the timing of which was pretty random.
      It's also similar to what I do now, altho' not by design. I DO try to schedule my first meal, but invariably, if I'm not actually hungry at that time (the timing of my hunger varies), I tend to get distracted and don't even remember to eat until hunger or boredom sets in.
      So in effect, my "break fast" timing is fairly random as well, AND the same w the timing of my 2nd meal, whenever I have one, lol. Whatever works, right?
      I'm now thinking, tho', that it probably makes good sense to just prep my meal(s) in the morning and then let hunger, & only hunger, dictate when I eat it. That way, I will be in harmony with both my body AND our ancestors!.
      Anyway, thanks again so much for explaining.
