    You look amazing in both dresses! Hope your finger and you have recovered from the ordeal of pulling this off in such a short timeframe. I also love the energy you give in your reveals 😂❤

      Thank you! After all the struggle, it was definitely validating 😂 And I definitely had fun on stage! People kept coming up to me the rest of the weekend to tell me my hat was "A-peeling" 🤐

    I've tried cutting a couple of different back apron/bustle patterns in miniature to figure out how they work and given up each time so you just figuring it out was very inspiring!

      Oh no, that must have been frustrating for you!! Glad I was a small help 😁 I definitely think you just gotta get your head up under there and experiment.

    I've gotta say I actually like the pink banana dress better than the other gown. I don't have the skills to do a bustle dress but if anyone offered me some free silk taffeta, well...how could anyone pass it up? Super cute dresses! 🥰🧡💙

      Cool! I do really love that fabric 🍌 And I'm glad I'm not the only one who would be tempted by that kind of offer! 😆🤐 Thank you!

    I love how so many people are going for historical accuracy & she decides on... Hot pink with bananas! 🤣 They look amazing!

      🤣🤣 I mean, that's me in a nutshell! Hah! (Although tbh, the Victorians did some pretty wacky shit. I bet if they saw that fabric, they'd be all over it!) Thanks for watching!

      @@FantasticalFolliesCostuming That's the thing, I have no doubt that, if that fabric existed back then, it would probably have started a trend! 🤣 Also, that hat is extra! The striped outfit is really awesome, too! I can't believe you made those so quickly. Your video sounded a lot like my internal sewing monologue, though. 🤣

    For all the trouble it gave you, the banana bustle is adorable. Think it's my favorite of the two.

      @@FantasticalFolliesCostuming I'm also short and that really compressed 8 means some eras just can't reach the ideal look. It doesn't stop me though

    Holy crap you did good! I totally get not wanting to get back behind the machine after taking a needle to the finger. Sometimes you just need to step away from whatever bit you and just cool off for a bit.
    I guess too much hip pring is as much of a PITA as too little, hopefully you'll figure out how to add a bit more room to the hips for the next time and that you've got enough seam allowance to do it in the existing bodices.

    • @FantasticalFolliesCostuming
      @FantasticalFolliesCostuming  10 місяців тому

      Yeah, and it didn't help that it was like 10 pm when the needle thing happened. I shouldn't have been sewing at all 😖

    not all of your fans are as critical as you are. If you hadn't pointed out the wrongs, I would never have seen them. I do, however, appreciate just how difficult your craft is. the dresses look lovely. I would have ooh'd and aaaah'd over both of them if seen in person. give yourself a break.

    • @FantasticalFolliesCostuming

      Aw, thank you! I really appreciate you saying that!
      I don't mind pointing them out--it's not so much being hard on myself as trying to be realistic and honest. There's a lot of artifice in this space and a lot of pressure to look perfect and flawless. I think it's important to highlight the mistakes as well as the successes 😊
