5 gum was the gum everybody was dealing in middle school. It was mostly for the wrapper because if you peeled off the emerald part of the gum wrapper perfectly without ripping it, it had the static electricity needed to perfectly stick to our binders. So everybody would cover their binders in their favorite color of 5 gum. And it was always impressive when you found someone who had a binder completely filled without a single ripped wrapper. Because the wrappers were so fragile, it was almost a sign of status to be able to have that many gum wrappers perfectly overlaying your binder lol

He always kept a pack of orange Trident for me. Ngl I was jealous of all the other kids chewing on Big League Chew, but I still carry around and chew on some orange Trident gum as an adult lol I'm nostalgic for it
The fold down on the gum pack is actually wild. It's perforated, so you finish the bottom deck first, tear it off, and you can just close it down on the only layer remaining. Nice, compact, and an intelligent design. Man, sounds complicated AF typing it all out, and I haven't finished the video yet so maybe you figured it out, so you know, good job if you did. Fun fact, on many gum packets you can find the ADA Seal of Acceptance. You can also look for gum that contains xylitol. The bacteria in your mouth eats the xylitol, but it does not get anything useful from it. Essentially it starves the bacteria. It it not a good replacement for brushing, but it can be helpful after eating. You should still keep flossing and brushing
When I was a kid, I went to this religious church camp type thing… I was too young to fully remember what it was. It wasn’t an overnight thing I dont think. Regardless, on the bus ride home, we did a bubble blowing contest. They had a whole bucket of the original Dubble Bubble gum. I think the only rule was that we had one try to blow the biggest bubble. We could take as many pieces as we wanted, and by the time it got to my turn, I had discovered that the kids who thought that grabbing a handful of pieces would make their bubble bigger always did way worse. But the kids that only grabbed a single piece didn’t have a lot to work with. So I opted for 2 pieces, and, not to brag. But I beat everyone on that bus. And my prize was that I could take the rest of the gum home in the bucket that it came in. And that was the best prize ever to a 6 year old. I kept that bucket for a long time after I had finished all the gum in about an hour lol but I didn’t even remember anything about this event until I watched this video. You unlocked a memory. Which is crazy because I had that bucket for SO LONG. I probably had it for a few years following this event. I kept toys in it, blocks, crayons, Nintendo cartridges. I wore it as a hat for playtime. It was such a huge part of my childhood, it’s kind of unbelievable that I forgot about it
That's some good awareness and adaptability for a 6 year old. Reminds me of my proudest moment when I was that age. I was smashing rocks with a hammer and I realized you can never destroy anything, just make it smaller.
Fun fact: if you ever get gum stuck in your hair or on a fabric you can easily remove it by applying an ice cube to it. No idea why it works, might make the gum brittle or something, just know it does lol
And if that fails try some oil or mayonnaise. I really loved gum and bubble gum to stim as a kid so my parents had a routine pretty down to remove it from my long hair lol

Great vid Scott! Also, after consulting my mother, that rhyme about Bazooka bubble gum is WAYYY older than the song you showed. My guess is they made a song based off of the rhyme, rather than the reverse. It goes: My mother gave me a nickel, she told me to buy a pickle, but I didn’t buy a pickle, Instead I bought bubble gum. Baroom-baroomba bubble gum, Baroom-baroomba bubble gum!

my siblings and I LOVED juicy fruit gum as kids but we’d rarely get it because we’d go through a pack so quickly because the flavor was gone so quickly so our parents didn’t like to buy it for us since we’d almost immediately ask for more
Awesome video scott, I really loved how you framed and shot each section. They all had their distinct colors and personalities and it really supported they whole vibe you were going for. Idk thought that was cool
Akin to the song being made for the commercial trivia you were telling everyone, as a kid I told my dance instructor that every single song ever had been made for a movie.
Yes, we all had that grandma with the werthers in a bowl, but did anyone else have a grandma with lots of Trident gum in her car. Specifically the tropical twist flavour.
Okay, but new, pure gold side channel idea. You and wifey trying and ranking different foods/snacks against each other. I say this because I could have watched you two try an endless amount of other gums lol. That's just some solid bantz, and good times right there.

Also, did you guys paint an entire room pink and get matching pink sweaters to blow bubble gum for a video? Cause I wouldn’t put that type of commitment past you AT ALL
this tier list styled video, especially the spearmint section, is personally useful to me. i will go chew some gum and think about the deteriorating state of the world while rocking back and forth against my wall. Thanks Scott!
ALWAYS wanted to bite the side of the roll of Bubble Tape as a kid. That gum turns into liquid (or at least it did in the 90s) pretty quickly and scarred me though so.
i guarantee you that kids in school were only obsessed with gum because it wasn't allowed in most (US) schools. it was like a little rebellious thing you could do, to buy a pack and split each stick down the middle and pass them around before class started. I'll never turn down a piece of gum now when offered but i also can't remember the last time i bought a pack for myself.
Of COURSE I remember the Cootie Queen/Lint Licker gum commercial, who could possibly forget it? That actress deserved to be famous. I hope she went on to a huge career.
One possible bonus for the ice cube is that if the main packaging is recyclable, the label can be easily removed and thrown out (labels are not recyclable! Throw out your labels from any beverage bottle too!). Downside though is it seems like a lot of packaging.
My 11th grade English teacher asked me for gum every day. When I got a high grade on a quiz, I’d give her gum, when I did poorly, I told her I was out. I have no control group to compare it to but I’d like to think I graduated 11th grade all thanks to Trident Layers and some mind games
When I was in college, a candy store a bus ride away, sold Nerds gumballs and I was HOOKED! Big full sized gumballs, with nerds corresponding to the gum color in the hallow insides. Fun crunch and texture, bursting of nerdy flavor, and fun little shakers when they're intact!! I still think about them from time to time lmao
I remember I had a fear of gum after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when I was a kid. Then in 5th Grade this actually happened at my school at the time our 5th Grade Teacher had a Science Experiment where we were allowed to chew gum for Science! The Principal allowed it to for one time. The Mid 2000s was a great time!
I truly never, ever get sick of the Jake and Amir references (as a real Day One), please keep them coming - at least until they agree to some kind of cameo!
This unlocked memories. When I was little my family and I went on a trip and stayed at a camping site and at the store there they had bubble gum in a tube, so you squirted some in your mouth and chewed. The texture was weird and I never bought it again after that, but I loved it for as long as it lasted (which wasn't very long)
I loved trident tropical twist as a teenager and sour blue raspberry bubble tape as a kid, but now only have gum if someone offers it because I assume they’re saying my breath smells
Dude same. Loved that sour blue razz bubble tape. Would bite through it the way Scott joked he was going to before stating “I’m not a psychopath.” Guess that makes me a psychopath. It also took part of my tooth out and gave me a deep cavity when I did this. So, there ya go.

Scott doing this just at his kitchen table with stuff going on in the background, is so entertaining.
Great vid Scott!
Also, after consulting my mother, that rhyme about Bazooka bubble gum is WAYYY older than the song you showed. My guess is they made a song based off of the rhyme, rather than the reverse. It goes:
My mother gave me a nickel,
she told me to buy a pickle,
but I didn’t buy a pickle,
Instead I bought bubble gum.
Baroom-baroomba bubble gum,
Baroom-baroomba bubble gum!
I don't think we talk enough about how Scott has built an amazing community of super loyal fans by making super fun, original content. He also hasnt gotten a big head. He us just sitting down , talking to his friends about a topic he found interesting.
This is the first video I've seen of them together and they have such a good chemistry and the vibes of this video are top notch
the "rating category of products" type of videos are always great, keep em coming
I like just seeing the fam live in the background. It’s just so freaking normal and I love it
as someone who is allergic to most artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, sorbitol, and xylitol, this is the closest I will ever get to trying all these gums.
Me too. I’m also allergic to stevia.
What about flavorless gum
I love that Scott does just the most random yet wholesome and entertaining videos in the commentary community. 😊😊
The absolutely fun chemistry between Scott and Jaden on the bubble blowing segment melted my heart. 🥰 You can see how much they enjoy each other's company and I love to watch them together.
my siblings and I LOVED juicy fruit gum as kids but we’d rarely get it because we’d go through a pack so quickly because the flavor was gone so quickly so our parents didn’t like to buy it for us since we’d almost immediately ask for more
I always love it when Scott brings out the projector. It's hard to explain, but it gives me great joy lol
I think it’s because nearly everyone else uses green screen and it’s very elementary school that he uses a projector
I think it’s how serious he is about it for me. And him just looking like a goober being overlayed with whatever it’s projecting. 😂
As an Eagle Scout, I confirm that the bazooka bubblegum song was sung widely in camps
We would sing it around the fire at girl scouts
Awesome video scott, I really loved how you framed and shot each section. They all had their distinct colors and personalities and it really supported they whole vibe you were going for. Idk thought that was cool
Akin to the song being made for the commercial trivia you were telling everyone, as a kid I told my dance instructor that every single song ever had been made for a movie.
Yes, we all had that grandma with the werthers in a bowl, but did anyone else have a grandma with lots of Trident gum in her car. Specifically the tropical twist flavour.
i could watch scott do or talk about absolutely anything he just makes everything interesting
For me it's the way you bought value packs for most of them and have like a lifetime supply of gum now based on the amount you actually chew it. 😂
Except once you peel off the plastic the gum gets weird
I had a friend growing up whose family had a “gum drawer” in their kitchen 😂 Sounds like Scott now has a fully stocked gum drawer.
Scott has upgraded from 10 min videos to 30 min videos and I feel grateful
Okay, but new, pure gold side channel idea. You and wifey trying and ranking different foods/snacks against each other. I say this because I could have watched you two try an endless amount of other gums lol. That's just some solid bantz, and good times right there.
feel like its not appreciated enough how color coded scott makes his videos sometimes!! something in my little baby brain is so mesmerized by the bubble gum segment being casted in all different (but still complimentary) shades of pink.
Am I the only one that had memories unlocked because of this video?
My main memory was the trident layers, going to the gas station when I was really little and grabbing a pack to enjoy. As well as my brother guessing of gumballs from the gumball machine and always getting it right.
i love when Jaden gets in on the wacky antics, shes a delight
Also, did you guys paint an entire room pink and get matching pink sweaters to blow bubble gum for a video? Cause I wouldn’t put that type of commitment past you AT ALL
15:50 I'm pretty sure that smell is nitrogen gas. It's commonly used in packaging for food products to keep the food fresh
The dad energy and wholesome vibes of this video lasted longer than any of the gums.
I needed the wholesomeness of a Scott video in my life today. Thank you. ❣️
this tier list styled video, especially the spearmint section, is personally useful to me. i will go chew some gum and think about the deteriorating state of the world while rocking back and forth against my wall. Thanks Scott!
Another hard hitting article from an important investigative reporter, doing the rough work out in the field
ALWAYS wanted to bite the side of the roll of Bubble Tape as a kid. That gum turns into liquid (or at least it did in the 90s) pretty quickly and scarred me though so.
wow great video. im not much of a gum guy but this video has helped me save 100's in dental cleaning.
i guarantee you that kids in school were only obsessed with gum because it wasn't allowed in most (US) schools. it was like a little rebellious thing you could do, to buy a pack and split each stick down the middle and pass them around before class started.
I love this series of just rating random mundane things. Keep it up man
One possible bonus for the ice cube is that if the main packaging is recyclable, the label can be easily removed and thrown out (labels are not recyclable! Throw out your labels from any beverage bottle too!). Downside though is it seems like a lot of packaging.
Watching the two of them doing random shit like this together is so much fun.
Aww baby Cramer is such a cutie~
Edit: Also does anyone else sneeze after eating gum? Or is that just me?
This is a smart thing for him to review while he’s adjusting to being a dad. Because he’s probably going to grocery store all the time anyways ❤
This guy is going to single-handedly bring the earth back to the ice age with his breath after chewing all those gums
Anybody remember "Ouch" Bubble Gum?? The ones that came in a tin and looked like Band-Aids?? I LOVED that stuff!! That, and Bubble Jug!!
29:48 “Tat me up tat me up I’m ready I won’t ever regret it”
I truly never, ever get sick of the Jake and Amir references (as a real Day One), please keep them coming - at least until they agree to some kind of cameo!
This unlocked memories. When I was little my family and I went on a trip and stayed at a camping site and at the store there they had bubble gum in a tube, so you squirted some in your mouth and chewed. The texture was weird and I never bought it again after that, but I loved it for as long as it lasted (which wasn't very long)
You should do a part 1.5 reacting to and diving deep into the commercials off the different gums!
This made me remember I have some Juicy Fruit I had completely forgot about and started chewing. Thanks, Scott!
18:50 It's a hand slap chant. We used to play it on the bus.
Just when the world needed him most, he returned!
Taking me back to my brothers middle school Science Fair project. We were trying to find out which bubblegum had the biggest bubble and best flavor.
Seeing your adorable family there with you was so sweet. 💗
Big Red and Doublemint are my favorite gums, and your assessment of both of them was very informed.
Eta: And Juicy Fruit of course, it is so good.
Love the video! you should have added a smell taste portion like take a shot of vodka and see what hides your breathe the best
Came for the Toliet Paper, Stayed for the Bubble Gum…
