10 yrs ago went to a lochinvar class they sent there nice jacket + work gloves to our house had there names on both our boiler installer wore them while installing weil McLain boilers
Those Lochinvar knight boilers have a power switch on the back like you would see on an outlet strip. You can see the black rocker switch is turned off on the back of the boiler behind the wires at 1:41 in the video.
To be honest I found the pace of his predictions a bit frenetic, he's obviously an expert and knows what he's doing but watching this kept me wondering shouldn't he slow down a bit in his troubleshooting? I'm a DIYer so I'm always second guessing my 'instincts'. It would be sad if all that needed was a cut-on switch.
water in pipes, hard to sweat, glob it up to seal and make a big mess lol. it's likely rim soldered also, or maybe they eventually got it hot enough after they made a mess. it matches the rest of the work, sloppy hack mess.
One of my favourites was a Tara Cotta pot to plug the hole in the chimney. I didn't put it there, looked like it had been there forever and was completely embedded in the masonry..

Isn’t that boiler supposed to have a ‘boiler loop’ with close tees into the central heating loop? Just seems wrong by my experience. I do my reliefs in black pipe, that way they can be replaced without using a torch, nipple, elbow, then drop. Cheaper than Cu too.
frmerrin2 I’ve only done one Loch’ boiler, but it was as you say, primary, secondary in the book. I’ve done plenty of others with p/s piping by the book. I’ve only seen one that says other, but you better know the whole piping scheme and prove it on pump curves or better yet, just do p/s and do it right.
Joe, you're off your game a bit. Always check the power situation and confirm that the main control pcb goes thru test sequence. Too bad u replaced those components first.

Don’t use channel locks on that hy vent. They go out of round and end up leaking where the top threads to the body. Hand tight. Channel locks have to be the most over used and misused tool in a plumber/HVAC guys tool bag.
That is why appliances in floods are condemned right now. Not worth trying to replace part after part until the cost equals a new furnace or water heater.
Yeah regarding your allergies bothering you. You can try putting eye drops sterilized eye drops water rewetting drops in your eyes in the morning when you get up and when you go to bed and a couple times during the day. Flushing your eyes with that helps eliminate a tremendous amount of irritants and contaminants from the air pollens molds you name it.
Condemn the boiler, if unit has been subject to flood, unit should be replaced. Water spray is included. If only one component was taken out, then fix. You will have to give the boiler a life time warranty, since something will break monthly.
hopefully the boards came with the ribbon jumper connectors also. if not, they will need ordered also. probably best to just bid them a boiler in that situation, too much unknown water damage to parts swap, the old "nickel and dimed to death" fudge fest.
It might be better to replace, if it is companies fault. ☹️ You might have a can of worms. But if you play with pipes you may open another. Churches are always short of money for stuff like that. I know we looked at replacing a huge weil mclain dry steam boiler with a huge gas ball. Positive feed air. Inefficient but the boiler was well taken care of. It's still there I think they didn't do the job. The gas regulator was replaced as the gas company went to high pressure and the old leaked. Beast of a machine.

They need some water treatment and a dirt mag if they want to get another 2 years out of that unit . It doesn’t matter though because if you have it piped in exactly it is in their drawing with the wye strainers , dirt mag , and did a good system flushing with the chemicals and pumping machine and the heat exchanger springs a leak they will send out one if their technicians who are going to say you have bad water no warranty coverage , sorry. We can sell you a new heat exchanger for 5000 dollars or a new boiler for 5900 dollars.

Then why r we getting a bill ,u didn't get it running. That's what happens in my territory. Better off condemning and calling it a day.

Are you sure that you tightened the air vent above the expansion tank enough? Those were small channel locks.
I've never installed an auto vent with a tool,hand tight is all!
