Join Gavin as he undertakes another 15 minute photo challenge. This time he visits Madison Square Park in Manhattan on a cold, bright winter's day.
After taking the photos follow Gavin in to Photoshop CC where he shows you how to pull out the maximum amount of detail from a RAW file to create an eye catching image of an iconic landmark.

"Gavin the man'in" does it again. Can't believe the eye you have, picking out great shots to start with and then improving them so much in post. Looking forward to the Gatwick training day in July.

Oh, and also, Gavin… Do a NY photowalk. Something like that would be great fun. I would pay good money to go on one of these.

As always another gem Gavin, a stunning location with a set of stunning images, I always try your techniques after your videos as there very informative showing not only the images being taken but also the processing afterwards.
I'm off to try a 15 min challenge tomorrow morning, but I don't have New York, I have a wet and windy Blackpool promenade.
Don't leave it so long till your next video, I miss your work.

Hi Francois. The trick is to wait until the edges of your frame are clear of people, half cars etc. It's not always possible, I know, but it helps :-)

Hi Gavin. Love the shot but why did you start by under exposing and then add back in lightness etc. Cheers

This is an extremely late reply and you probably know the answer by now, but I think if he shot with the correct exposure on the clockface the sky would have been completely blown-out and you would end up with just a white sheet of paper as the background.

Hey Gavin, I was wondering how edit your panoramas. I have tried to do it the same exact way you did, but they always come out real thin. Any reason that is? is it because of the lens or what? If anyone can answer this, please do so. Thank you!
