You surprised me with every shot that you put up Gavin. I can't believe you could make such an ordinary scene turn out to be so dramatic and sometimes even emotional. Thanks for teaching me how to "see" things Gavin. Appreciate your videos.
I do like your tutorials.
Your photos are to simple.
Nothing new, no surprises no tension.
I love the 15 minute photo challenges! These videos really open up little microcosms of detail that I would normally walk right by.
I really love these challenges. They give a good impression of how a talented photographers works. Keep up the good work, Gavin!
I like how you are explaining the shots more in this version of 15 Minute Challenge. Great stuff Gavin!
gavin that was great, I really enjoyed you talking us through the settings etc a bit than your earlier video, and showing us how you set some of them up, great stuff keep it up I really enjoy them.
the best 15 minute photo challenge you've done so far. I am thinking of your explanation of what you are doing and thinking
Thanks for posting another 15 minute photo challenge....I love them and learn so much from you.
Cheers!
These series of videos are just brilliant!!! I like when we get to see what the photo looked like, then the final post Ps. And actually seeing you work in Ps is the icing on the cake ( so to speak )!
Keep up the GREAT work!!
@Schneeerich Agreed, I love these 15 minute challenges as well, and it's been awhile since we've seen one! Thanks Gavin!
I am a fan of yours Gavin... i am impressed with your 15 mins photo challenge
Very beautiful photos! My favourites are the ones displaying the stone row.
If you watch his other Vides, you'll find out he's always shooting in RAW.
Gavin, you really have the right look for good pictures! Great work. I like the little Rock with the nice bokeh best.
It isnt a crime to help out nature. I'll take that advice. Super videos, Gavin. They always help me. Thank you!
Gavin you are now my idol, Gorgeous pictures man.

Another fantastic and information packed video! Please make more!! It's very inspirational. 5*
Hi Gary, I went to discover your videos and only want to comment on your fantastic way to present things. Your are incredibly capable but very humble and modest. Thanks for that brilliant quality!
Greetings from a (soon) newcomer photographer from Sweden who is learning as much as possible before the camera-purchsing-project is to be realized (Christmas).
Michael
Lovely videos Gav...:)! I love your 15 minutes photo challenge!! Thanks for posting this lovely videos, it gives me heaps of ideas..^^
The photo with the red rock on top of the wood looks beautiful
That is an awesome idea to take two pics of background and foreground in focus and put them together :D
Enjoyed that. Great pics too. Cheers
I really need to start thinking differently... you pick up on great shots I'd walk right past. Where can I learn about composition? Great job with all the videos Gavin, I love them :)
Nice concepts usually when you think of taking pictures at the beach we usually take pictures of the beach- and miss all the microtextures colors etc. Thankyou.
Woooooo awsome!!!.... i can't wait to buy my 50D and follow your creativity! = )
Well done! Good example of that equipment is not that import at all. It's all about creativity.
Very Impressive photography.
Perhaps you could walk us through one of the photoshop edits?
I noticed that even though you were shooting in direct sun, there is a lack of hard shadows.
@alessyam I hate Camera straps, They always seems to tie me in knots or end up infront of the lens. I this video I'm using a Canon wrist strap. It fits on the 1d series or any Canon DSLR with a battery pack fitted.
Fantastic idea! Thanks for the videos.
Thanks Gavin...keep up the good work...big fan!
Glad to see you don't mind "assisting" nature. Often when I am shooting, I will nudge this or that to suit my needs. For some reason my girlfriend who frequently tags along, gets all bent out of shape. "You're cheating!" or something like that. Misplaced ethics. It is absurd considering everything else we do in the name of art that never gets mentioned. Love your vids Gavin.
Been watching your videos for ages but only just realised that if I take my eyes off the video for even a seconds you sound strangely like David Mitchell at times :)
Hi Gavin, very beautiful, Magnifico, complimenti da Roma.
amazing... Mr. Gavin im a big fan..
Thanks so much Gavin for all the videos, I hope someday to make at least one picture as good as yours :-))
Beautiful work !!! Congrat's
Your videos where missed!! :)
@Jigsaw3477 The R-strap is very impressive. It's on my wish list.
Wow all of the colours are amazing. How do I get colours like that. I have a Canon 1000d and access to Photoshop CS4. I think with some assistance I could make my dull photographs into incredible shots like yours.
amazing class Gavin....awwsme
Go go Gavin! You rock!
sooooooo awesome man love you stuff
That shallow depth of field of the rocks at f/4 really blew me away. Did you enhance the blurring in post?
Amazing Photos... Simply Amazing. What camera do you have?
Thanks for the inspirational video...
@PhotoGavin Nice =) I have a Fujifilm Finepix s1500, it's my first Digital SLR. I've only been doing photography for a short time. I love it =)
cool gavin ! you are great !!
thanx for this video the pictures are amazing,
great ideas for newbies like myself. thanks
Thanks Gavin. Can you do a 2º part, and show what you do on photoshop whith this photos ?
Thanks! Really great for inspiration!
@fret2424 Actually it was cloudy, as he said at the end that the sun is coming out. Clouds are basically giant difussers.
ok Gavin you realy do help me out alot :) Thaks for all the wonderful vids :P
Hello Gavin, your videos are all amazing and your presentation! Just wondering if the photos you show in between the video are post edited, or are they as it is from camera? greets from swiss
YOU. ARE. AWESOME.
Hi Gavin, have you done a photoshop tutorial to show how you put two potos together like the ones you took through the fence in this video ?
Thanks for the films, i'm learning so much !
You are my idol, thank you so much Gavin :)
Love watching your vids Gavin but instead of taking a shot then showing the edited image, could you show the shot actually image taken.
u knw d same qstn ihv after seeing his edited photos
Nice video again. THX
I vote that in these videos, we see both pictures, original and Photoshopped picture.
thank you i am wacthing your videos too , very helpfull for me
Hey gavin, it's Alex here. I am new to photography at the age of 15 and just bought the Canon EOS 550D with a lot of reasurch and I think it is a good qauilty camera. However, your photos are amazing and I just wanted to know with all them photos do you use photoshop? The other question is, is what setting is best to change the depth of field? for example setting "P"?
Thank you so much for all these videos, my dad used to do photography for profession but since then the cameras have changed
Hi really enjoyed this vid.
Where are you as id like to visit this beach when im on holiday next week?
lovely sir,,, thank you
What kind of PP are you doing on these? Like what specifically in photoshop? They look GREAT.
Also, upgraded to CS5 yet? :)
hey gavin, this is an amazing tutorial! can i ask how did you combine the two images of the frame through the wood on photoshop? thanks in advance:)
it's impressing to see how you take such pictures out of... nothing!
For me editing the photo is half the fun.
great vids Gav! keep it up mate. :)
very nice job, what do you think about the new photoshop cs5?
very nice photos! keep it up
For the hole in the wood shot, did you just layer the two shots and mask, or did you use the CS5 Focus stacking feature as per your last video ?
Gavin could you give a tutorial on how to turn a photo into a B/W then returning only parts of it to color while retaining the B/W on the person.. I keep trying and end up getting the natural skin color back.
..thank you for the very useful tips and tricks!
cool idea for a youtube-channel! greetz, VGM
i like those videos. they help people getting an eye for the ssmaller things. one thing tho, helping nature may be fine, but you should admit it´s a lot of PS too. f4 is not a very large apperture and those other rocks looked VERY blurry for that...unsharpnes out of the pc is not my kind of style :(
There aren't much things to picture on the beach so he took pictures of the pebbles 🙂 thanks for the ideas
Do you normally set your white balance to cloudy even if it isn't? Do you use hDR in all your work?
Hi Gavin. In your 'rusty bolt' shots did you desaturate the timbers and bump up the metal colours?
Thank you so much!Garvin..., what camera, f., Iso!, speed! your photo?
Do you normally set your white balance to cloudy even if it isn't?
Im assuming you shoot everything in RAW and then pp in photoshop, is this correct Gavin?
I would love a strap like that for my camera, but I guess you need the battery grip as well...
you must have used a tripid to get some of them crisp images, secretly obviously
I was interested to know why u pick f/11 i would have thought f/8 was more likely t o be the sweetspot, or have you done a test
@mammoo93 Yay on the 1000d, Loving that at the moment =D! + Great question, I was just thinking that myself until i read the rest! ;)
you shoot on raw or regular format? also did you use polarice filter.
That's Ok Gaving, but the thing is where do i find such a texture?
I noticed you were locking in and the moving the camera down from where you locked your focus...what is the benefit of that?
so is it the bigger the aperture the shallower the depth of feild ?
Genius.
