  • Shot this video on Christmas day, after 3" of fresh snow fell the night before, on top of old snow that had melted and frozen several times, becoming crusty. The poor old Yamaha, (2003) is pretty under-powered when it comes to snow conditions like that. It's going on 16 years old & still kickin though. There will be a second part to this video, showing the rest of the struggle. I only made it another 100 yards or so past where this video ended, but it took for ever and it's cool to watch.

Maybe one of these days I'll get into this thing and do some power mods. To be honest, I don't ride it much. Usually only during the winter/snow when I can't ride my dirtbike. One mod I'm definitely going to do is the full power reverse mod. Sometimes it just doesn't have enough power in reverse to pull itself out of being stuck. There is a pretty simple mod you can do to get full power and speed in reverse, it involves grounding a certain wire, or installing a switch to ground it when you want full power reverse on demand. Google grizzly 660 reverse override mod.

@@Zeus33rd i found my vin and its an 03. Already have filters, yamalube, spark plug, tires and a seat headed my way! Axels look solid and one TINY possible oil leak around the filter somewhere. Fires right up. This thing is a beast. Kind of rides like a tractor lol

@@HooDRidEWhiteY I took my clutch apart and it was gunked up very badly from the old man I got it from just putting’ around on it. I cleaned it out and the weights all had flat spots. Went back with greaseless weights and a new belt and she will get it now. Just something to look at if the clutch has never been serviced

I can take a guess, but I'm not really too knowledgeable about these things. My best guess would be that maybe you need to replace the belt. Other than that, I don't really know. I'm sorry I wish I could answer your question better

This is running in low range, the old 660 doesn't have the balls to pull high range in snow like that.
