It’s sad
I don't think it's sad, I think it's perfectlt illustrative of the flaws inherent in the capitalist model, and in that sense, it will likely expose many people to and get them thinking about these types of concerns. This is what it comes down to: the struggle between ownership and labor and how each can be FAIRLY compensated to motive each to maximize productivity. The notion that productivity would be seriously impacted by more paid holidays seems silly to me when benefits like an enhanced holiday calendar and generous sick leave time foster a happier workplace with well rested, motivated workers who feel some semblance of appreciation from their employer. The guest in this segment seems absolutely colorblind to that, but it's not a surprise at all. In summary, I believe the more that corporate NPCs like this Bloomberg guest drone the same played-out excuses, the more middle/working class people will start to organically ask these questions and maybe, just maybe, we can finally begin get the critical mass necessary to actually change things in this country.

Union workers at the Big 3 auto plants deserve a 40 percent raise because their dedication and hard work have contributed significantly to the companies' success. They've consistently met high production standards and adapted to industry changes. Meanwhile, reducing the CEO's pay is essential to promote income equality within the company, ensuring that the rewards are distributed more fairly among all employees and acknowledging the crucial role of the workforce in achieving profitability.

They’re assuming the newbies will commit for 30yrs without the previous long term incentives to commit. What they’ll eventually get is a revolving door workforce that’ll give them quality and recall headaches. Something for nothing is unacceptable, especially when you consider the number of plants that have closed resulting in a much smaller workforce and the number of retirees that are deceased, drop dead prior, or have a very short retirement because they’re bodies are broken and filled with years of weld and paint fumes, etc. Hence If the Big 3 are expecting a 3rd world worker mentality they can move there, I’m sure their customers won’t approve in todays MAGA climate.
Its funny, in our plant, the higher ups literally had a meeting with us workers asking what they can do to keep the temps, apparently they have too many that want to quit by lunch time, and they are scratching their heads, we told them exactly what they could do...but they were pulling the "Well...is there anything we can do BESIDES that?"
This is great I hope they strike.....pay those people the money they deserve 👏 no working class American who works hard everyday should have to struggle just to have the bare necessities while 10 people on the board make billions in salary bonuses and stocks
If anything they atleast need to give an inflation raise since the last contract in 2019. If you look at September 2019 until now, inflation is minimum 25%. Now Ford was only offering 9% which is a slap in the face.
American CEO pay has risen by 1,322% since 1978. The wages of the typical worker rose by 18% in that same time period. Meanwhile inflation has increased the price of goods by $4.78 for every 1978 dollar. Translation: the rich have been getting ENORMOUSLY richer, and working people are now desperately poor. But keep telling us that a 46% pay raise is "unreasonable". Guillotines are cheap to make.

Exactly what does a CEO's do at a company to make 25million a year? Keep in mind, they dont wanna pay their employees a fraction of that....like why? I think its because their good at exploited labor....meaning their good at not paying the employees, so the shareholders reward them.....great products sells themselves, CEO's don't build anything....they just order, critique, make the final say.....how is that worth 25mil a year? And at GM the 25 is just bonuses not salary 😅 so someone explain this????
You keep talking about how raising wages will effect inflation, well what about the effects of keep wages stagnant and the employees suffering under high cost of the ever changing economy. Let’s have high Cola, higher bonuses and guaranteed health care. We should not suffer while the executives eat lavishly and enjoy times with their families. We not getting their crumbs we are getting what they have obviously to throw away
Come on man, CEO's gave themselves a 40% raise over the last few years and nobody said a damn thing. Then you cry giving auto workers a raise will contribute to inflation. Maybe, if the CEO's like Miss Mary didn't need to make 200 million the last decade, there could have been some cost saving in the price of a vehicle.
