It's still made very well by today's standards in terms of music story and characters. Nothing since this game came out has come close to being as almost perfect this game is. The remake is a huge let down though. The music was mainly brand new songs that didn't fit into the game at all and they removed so many tracks from the original and almost every location didn't even play the correct song that's supposed to play from the original but instead. If only eumatsu didn't get sick and didn't have to stop working on the remakes soundtrack. He would've done the soundtrack justice instead of the diarrhea that seems to flow into my ears through about 80 percent of the remakes soundtrack. Such a shame but at least there's hope. One day somebody will make a mod to insert the correct songs into the game and have them play in the right areas.
While the bombing mission was iconic, I remember hearing this during the raid on ShinRa Corporation's main headquarters battling all the way to the top floor!
Best music for a mission of all time. Imagine being 10 years old. Having only played games like fifa or tekken. Hearing this and having your little mind blown. If someone can show me a better first mission music then I will revoke my earlier statement… I will be wait decades for a better piece
@@mattcroy1885 I noticed as I got on in the years, Translation is entirely different in context than it is in actual practice. Remember Reno talking to Rouge about "The Bomb"? "Pay dirt" became a term I recognized in other places. The whole grunting thing was there. I mean to be fair we do do that as well, kinda. Just not the whole nose thumb swipe thing. It left so many impressions on me as a kid. The art, the "Anime" feel to it. The Tifa fight with Loz, and then the epic pre-sephiroth fight changing almost seamlessly into Sephy from Kadaj with Jenova cells. AND THEN the proceeding fight with temporary Sephy. Oh god, don't get me started.
I remember being so dazzled when I first saw this game as a twelve-year-old. The PlayStation had been around, but this game was what put it on the map. Nintendo regretted ever having made the decision to put their N64 games on bulky, expensive cartridges that also didn’t give the artistic freedom that CDs offered. That said, this song was what left many players wondering what more was to come.
That's usually how it goes. VGM tracks, for AAA titles at least, are composed with an ear toward the hardware that will be playing the music; there's always something lost when the track is recut. Some of it is also purely in your head, because you experienced the original first.
El hecho de que no haya ningún comentario en español solo denota el mal gusto de la gran mayoría de hispanoparlantes, como decia recientemente mathias linda (creador de chained hechoes): siento lastima por los que se perdieron la era dorada de los JRPG.
The remake is nice, but it doesn't really have that IT factor the original does. I'd say it's just getting older, but even on repeat playthroughs now the original feels larger than life. Kind of wonder if the old graphics force your brain to do the imaginative work. Because the new one and games like it are more like you're watching something rather than playing- the older games still feel immersive.
I replay this game once a year as it is my favourite game of all time. This game is just a masterpiece
I'm playing it on android and its my first game of ff7 ever. Gotta say its very well made for the time.

"Alien Manifestation" from NieR:Automata comes in at a close second for me
I would also posit Corneria from the original Super Nintendo version of Star Fox. But picking between the two is HARD.
