Hey, Tom. I'm loving these vlog style videos, they're amazing when I want to watch some chilled content. P.S. Have you considered perhaps wall mounting the desk onto collapsible wall brackets. It might give you some extra space and you can collapse it when it's not in use. It might not be able to carry massively heavy things which could be an issue.
I just tore up my whole studio, moved all the equipment out of the room, and tried out a few different layouts, and ended up setting it back up in almost exactly the same layout as I started 🤦♂️
The previous owner of our house painted the baseboards….but also painted dog hair into them 🤦🏼♂️ I am dreading having to sand them all down and repaint.
My "luck & curse" is that I cannot have my stuff any other way than how I fixed everything from the start. The shelf is built in, the bed can (and needs to be in this room) only be placed where it is, and the desk is at the only spot left, which gives the most headroom behind me in order to get any decent background blur. There's this reverse angle where I could position the camera so that it's pointing at the desk, but my music content has got nothing to do with ... two computer screens in the background. Wait, hm, I could place a couple of guitars in front of it... Oh well, we'll see. But regarding some real backdrops, I've discovered that the manufacturer of those amazing Gravity Backdrops is situated just a couple of miles from the place where I went to university, in Belgrade, Serbia. I'm planning to use these backdrops for my educational content to start with, now it's only to choose amongst so many fantastic designs they have.
Oooh, that'll be cool to see how those backdrops work! As for being limited by permanent fixtures, sometimes those limitations are what push us to become the most creative 👍
@@TOMBUCK2 Definitely. I'm getting a set of 3 for the bundle price I guess, and then I'll try to be smart by getting one dark, one bright and one in between. Specially the dark one can be lid in various ways and light intensity, and then those fixtures can shine in different ways. I'm just about to pull the trigger, although it will postpone the FX-3 thing. Jeez, I'm nagging about that camera too much...
Ah I really had to laugh, about a month ago I thought I’m going to move things around and have a better placement for lights and stuff… I took measures, ordered cable that would not be the right length anymore and… went into the room look at everything I would have to unplug, move and fix…. and I didn’t move a thing at the end… it’s perfect like that 😂😂
I gotta say.....NICE intro!!! Yeah...I'm *totally* fan-girling on your cycling stuff!!! I absolutely love Specialized products (EXCEPT for their helmets - I bought one a *week* before my accident! 🤬 Fun story...I'll tell you sometime...). THANKS for the intro! I have been trying to think of things to film. Now I have some ideas!!! THANKS!!!
I actually just got this helmet. It's a Giro one, same as my previous but bright blue 😁 I've heard helmets can kind of "expire" and since mine was like 10 years old, it felt like time to replace it just to be safe.
Oh man i can only imagine you have to move everything and paint the baseboards, I have been in a similar situation myself. also, any updates on the flight training did you go on that real flight yet?
Your room is bigger than mine. My office (like yours) is a bedroom. My room is basic 12 x 11 so My 'console desk' is kinda in the center of the room so there NO way for me to record anything besides bad zoom calls. Which is fine because I'm not a UA-cam. I'm a "VAT' consultant (Video/Audio/Technology). So I install and assist customer who want to do Audio/Video projects of all kinds. If I was consulting on your office I would suggest a few things that you may not like. 1st reduce the Guitars (Keep 1) my reason your not a music UA-cam channel. 2nd that I'm sure your NOT going to do is the good Mic's need to be used and then put up so they don't get dust in them, (The cheap mic that are not worth much do whatever). I did notice when you were not in your normal spot the sound doesn't sound as good because you only have sound treatment in your normal spot. That white wall is so bear compared to the Blue wall that full. I would shine that nano light over on the wall to give it something. As you know I hate stealing into lights. One thing I really LIKE about your space is it's so bright. So many people go with dark. The other thing I HATE is staring into lights. People who put Tube light behind them hurts people eye's!!!! (I have to turn my monitor WAY down) so it almost like I can't see the video anymore...I so wish people would STOP doing that! Have you moved your FX3 over to (your right more?) I like the old angle better. Anyway that my two cent for what it's worth...
This is super helpful! I've always thought that the instruments are confusing since it's not what my channel is about, but they're so beautiful and I really don't have anywhere else for them. My favorite thing about this space is that it's not a "set" and it actually gets used for stuff when the cameras aren't on. As for the main shot in this video, it was just the a7IV on just a travel tripod, so not 100% like it usually is. Great point about the sound treatment! It is optimized for a specific location. The mics would definitely be smarter to store, but I try and dust the several times a week and I just love the way they look so much that I'm willing to take the hit 😬

The wall mount is kind of a brilliant idea! Definitely something to think about 🤔

Well, at least now you KNOW it was perfect 😁

I was sure to wipe/de-dog-hair-ify them before painting 😬
I have a similar situation in my office, the space isn’t big enough to bring lots of things in, nice to know I’m not alone!!!
I typically like the challenge of trying to make a small space work, but sometimes I really wouldn't mind a few extra square feet 😬
FINLEYYYYY

At least now you have the confidence of knowing for sure it's good 😁
Strange exciting times!
Oh it’s the same. That’s what I get for posting before video ends!
That'll learn ya!

Tomorrow is the “real flight” 😬
@@TOMBUCK2 ooh, that's exiting
Why are usa bike lains so small
Honestly, I'm just grateful we have any at all 🫠
