If you have a nut with long thread you need deep socket (some exhaust manifold nuts, air plenums nut, shock tower as you see in the video etc). But with pass through you can still do it with short socket how ever long the threads are. Or some ceiling thread hangers are long as shit and you cant do it with any ordinary sockets. But you can do it with pass through.
As mentioned below there are some cases where there maybe a long thread meaning a standard socket will bottom out. The pass through will allow you to remove the nut within a limited space.
