    I have the one screw in center plate and it got coroded and broken off. I seen you have that rectangular little plate holding screws, did you glue that on?

    Very well done. May I ask you how you would remove a plate mounting screw that's so corroded with hard water buildup that it won't loosen with a manual screwdriver? Thanks

      Hi Chris -- glad you found the video helpful!
      Good question about the corroded screw. I really love a product called PB Blaster. It's my go to when I have a stuck old screw that won't turn. It goes on like WD-40, but works much better! It really smells though so make sure you have a fan running if you use it. It may take a couple of applications to start turning the screw but it had worked for me in the majority of cases when I needed it. Here's a link to the product: www.lowes.com/pd/Blaster-PB-Penetrant-4-fl-oz-PB-Penetrant/1000213835?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-hdw-_-ggl-_-LIA_HDW_214_Automotive-_-1000213835-_-local-_-0-_-0&ds_rl=1286981&gclid=CjwKCAjwoMSWBhAdEiwAVJ2ndhWus_qZN-Dn8Jm_fGbMVQEr-yOr8vZh6M0MRIaGcQ2Zw-Q_BWQ62hoCIbMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds.
      I have had some instances where the PB Blaster doesn't work (very few though). And in these cases, I usually resort to just cutting right through the screw with my dremel tool and a metal cutting rotary bit. Here's a link to the product I use: www.lowes.com/pd/Dremel-6-Piece-Steel-1-1-2-in-Cutting-Wheel-Accessory-Kit/999982150.
      I'm not sure about your specific project and if this would work. But it's an idea for you to consider. I've had rusty bolt nuts under my kitchen sink that just wouldn't budge so I took my dremel tool and just sliced right through them. Works like a charm!
      Hope this helps!

    Think I need to get the rubber gasket. I can’t get the middle crew all the way to hold the cover in place. Screw stops at a certain point.

    Cracking me up with the pronunciation of the word “caulk” 😂😂😂🥳 Oh my goodness girl…. I’m not poking anything negative or bad your direction because this is a very informative video and I learned something that I so far haven’t seen or read described in any other instructional video or web link I’ve found this far (I’ve been doing ALOT of research about this topic as I’m almost done with my own and I’m taking my overflow plate back off actually to make 300% certain I have a good functioning rubber gasket on the inside opening of the overflow pipe)
    Thank you for the gift of education and Information for your fellow DIY sisters & I hope you have had a leak free, problem free user experience with your new tub trim.
    Side note: why do they not properly provide the proper replacement hardware for the full replacement of the overflow plate for those of us who require the slot adapter🤷🏼‍♀️smh I know nobody else can see the condition of the screws under the overflow plate BUT I know….
    Anyway great video thanks again

      Get a screw driver and pop it off. You have a screw less one. Held on by a plastic clip

    What happens if you don’t use caulk on the overflow plate at the end of the install?

    • @TDMID
      @TDMID 2 місяці тому

      Nothing. The caulk is absolutely unnecessary. It’s a drain. It’s designed to catch water.

    • @Robbie-mw5uu
      @Robbie-mw5uu Місяць тому

      nothing cause it is not necessary

    It's the gasket optional or only optional if you don't pull the old one? Does it have to have a gasket?

    • @Robbie-mw5uu
      @Robbie-mw5uu Місяць тому

      you need the gasket
      if the old one is not rotted or compromised, it's ok not to replace it

    The head of the screw rusted and broke off. A friend used clear tape. She taped the metal plate on. It's hanging on for dear life. I don't know how to get the broken screw out. Help! Thanks for sharing.

    Of course mine is totally different! I have a female receiver behind the cover. I'm not sure how it's attached to the inside rear of the tub. Story of my life. I also don't think I have any pipe behind. But I could be wrong on that.

    You could find oil bronze finish to the drainage if you want to do the drain last. And if you don't want a toe touch stopper. Don't worry there's a oil Bronze finish lift and turn Style. But for now. Enjoy a hot bubble bath with you're new stuff

    Use glass cleaner spray when working with silicone. Make sure it doesn’t contain ammonia. Helps with smoothing and wiping
