I am from Cali but I have lived in Bogotá for 20 years. I am seriously considering going back to Cali and settling there on a retirement basis. This for a warm climate, good food, nature, sports, friendships and nightlife. Thanks for your good impressions. 👍
Good video bro. I feel the same about Cali. Very different from Medellin and I like the vibe. I need to explore more. I may move out there next year. My lease is up in December in Medellín.
Yeah very interesting place depending on what you like. Personally I think you could make a strong argument to choose Medellin over Cali for living because of networking and industries that are in medellin it more of business hub. But again depends what you are looking for.
Ive been a few times to Cali, over the years. First time like 20 years ago. I thought it was OK for a few days with pretty Centro Historico, and nice viewpoint, and typical Colombian downtown, similar to Medellin's Centro kinda vibes, but also found it rather boring after a few days. Probably cos its very much looking for the most part like a sketchy Colombian city does. The main reason to go there is to learn Salsa. Aside from that i wouldn't particularly rave on about it. Medellin can be a bit of a tourist trap in some touristy areas, but youve got the variety of a plethora of beautiful Pueblitos you can visit close by.
I agree 100 percent. I’ve been in Cali for 3 weeks after being in Medellin for a month and it’s boring as hell and lesser city in every way aside from Salsa. Even several Colombians have told me Medellin is a better city and I’ve met more Cali women in Medellin than I have in Cali itself.
Thanks sir I honestly feel and have been told I fit in nicely in Cali and I often pass as being from Cali. But yes I suppose I could also pass for a person from San Andres they share a similar range of skin tones as Cali.
When I lived in the Calasanz barrio in Medellin, 3x… only ever saw 1 USAer… living here in Parque Boston area in Medellin 3 USAers, and that's because the building I'm in is 1/2 AirBNB building.
Yea, just avoid Laureles and Poblado, then you're OK. There's nothing special about those areas either except they are more "American" looking than "Colombian" hence the reason tourists tend to stick there, coz they want familiarity, as well as comfort.
I stayed in medellin for a month… Santa Marta for a month… I been to cartagena twice both time for a week n now I’m in Cali and deciding to stay for a few months…
Great video…I do like your observation about the food in Medellin vs Cali. I’m Mexican and I like me some spicy food. My wife is Caleña and what you said about the women is also true
The metro is extremely limited in Cali they don’t have a main train 🚆 they only have bus and metro cable routes. They have plenty of calisthenics parks in Cali much like Medellin.
@@kari.hq.official I'm in laureles. I wanna get some Spanish down before I venture outside of Medellin. I am going to guatupe to see the rock mountain next month.
I found the food in Colombia in general to be good, but bland. But if you ask for hot sauce, and pepper, you can easily transform it to taste delicious. Honestly the regular set meals are some of the best value meals you'll find in any South American Country. People like to complain about the food, but they probably have only based it after eating a few dried arepas, and not given the cuisine a chance.
Been to Cali...Lived in Barrio San Fernando..over 100 barrios (on Foot) out 24/7..365..from barrios estrada 6-1..ps..If u aint been invited to the Fincas bye Family or Friends u still in the beginners Lane.. # Now thats in the know..
I don’t really pay attention to crime rates but that could be true. I still think you have to go to the city to get a feel for it before making assumptions.
@@BJ-fu4zy That's what I used to say - I grew up in community housing and assumed that Colombia was the same. The first armed robbery was at a high class restaurant. 5 men with guns barged in and robbed us all. The second time was walking back from the gym in broad daylight - I was pistol whipped in this occasion because they had a costeño accent and didn't understand what they were saying fully, and the third time was walking back from Lunch. This isn't the USA - I have never been robbed in the US because it is really not that prevelant there. However, people are hungry and desperate in Colombia and almost everyone I know has been robbed one or more times. What's even worse is that life is so cheap here. My ex used to tell me that she can have me killed for $25 if I ever cheated on her. She was joking about going through with it, but life is truly that cheap here. I have zero doubt that someone she grew up with would happily kill for $25-$100.

I told a girl in Medellin that’s from Cali how I felt about Cali and she told me “why do you think I left Cali for Medellin” 😂
In Cali they'll think you're from San Andres. Good times. Great insight bro ✊🏾

yea would like to see some steady & solid street videos from the great city of calí , especially since many other footage is commonly about medellin
I got you covered 🔜

Yeah USAers as you call them are highly concentrated in certain parts like Laureles n poblado being the main places

Hotter in Cali by miles- same temperature all year - women hot 24/7

That’s wassup you’ll be fine I hope you speak a little Spanish
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
Do you have to speak fluent Spanish in Cali ?
I would say it is a requirement to enjoy yourself and feel comfortable. I felt way better being there the second time once I learned Spanish.
What app or course did you use to learn fluent Spanish?
Good teachers
You do everywhere in Colombia.
You can struggle thru your visit without any.
But English isn't widely spoken there for tht most part
Wellcome to my city🥰

Solo Cali papi
They do be plaid poloed dwn 😂

It is like that everywhere in Colombia. I have been robbed at gunpoint 3 times in Medellin. But you're from Atlanta so I am sure you're used to that.
