I would so nerd out when launching things with this controller setup.
That looks really cool. I just started playing KSP like 6 months ago (I don't know how I never knew about this game) and recently got a flight stick and throttle to use for it and WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. Your setup is WAY more complicated than mine, but I like the way it works. Very cool, dude!
I remember when this came out. Original xbox. Looking back from todays games i have to say that SB still stands strong for being way ahead of there time and king of immersive content.
I wish I had one of these. I'm tempted to just make my own. It's probably be cheaper.
I remember this 'controller' releasing for Xbox way back when. I have never seen one in real life, and they're so expensive now since collectors don't want to let them go

Amazing, I had no idea people gave a second life to these controllers.
Print out some button label overlays, just print it on glossy paper, and cut it to fit. Or go fancy and use sticky paper on thin sheet magnets and put some metal inside the controller so it'll hold down.

Great video! What kind of cables did you use to hook it up to pc? Im not rewiring my $250 controller if theres a female xbox to usb cable i can get lol

Which drivers did you fork or did you compile the driver from scratch?? I have a steel battalion and have been looking at some solutions to implment into ksp..however from what I can tell..there are two different authors with drivers on github.
Also..how easily would it be to rebind and apply different functions to the buttons. I like most of the setup. But I would probably like it setup a little different.

Most of the keys should be pretty easy to rebind by modifying the script.
I just sold my steel battalion for like $200... was it worth it? I'm not so sure anymore.
Quick question: what are you plugging it into your computer with? I was thinking that it was USB but it appears from the video that you're using some sort of adapter. I've also seen some Xbox versions on Ebay and knowing Microsoft, they wouldn't use USB on something like this.
You're correct, the joystick has a standard original Xbox plug. I used this adapter to hook it up to the PC: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD0KFU0/

Not sure if you still monitor this, but I'm using 1.3.1 and the controller is working in vjoy and showing correct button pushes, however ksp is not seeing any input from the controller...
I did set up the kspPath to my Z:\Kerbals space program, but still, nothing showing in game. I've done everything shown in your instructions and cannot for the life of me get this working

+Skillfulist1 I think the SBC driver software ships with an MWO keybinding script. If not, simple scripts aren't very hard to make.

The Xbox was much less popular in Japan, and the Playstation version of Steel Battalion was cancelled, so the controllers are cheaper there than in the West.

I haven't tested it yet, but it should. And if it doesn't, I probably just have to update the KSP plugin.

my siderwinder ff2 is useless :S if i did know that joystick were crap i wouln'd have buy it
SIdewinder FF2 is one of the best joysticks out there. It just doesn't work with KSP because KSP doesn't handle all types of joysticks. There used to me a mod that fixed it, but I don't think it exists anymore.
