"It is a song about the effects of touring on my life. I don't like complaining, but it is damn hard to place the entire world between yourself and the person you love, and to feel the love of thousands of people only to have the one person that matters most to you be the one you must leave behind." - Winston on the lyrics of this song. Reading that actually made me kind of sad. It's amazing to think that these people we idolize leave their loved ones behind to entertain us at shows. Thank you.
Knowing that, after hearing of Parkway Drive cancelling this year’s North America tour because they need to evaluate the consequences of 20 years of unrelenting touring… …this song is just that much sadder. Take care of yourselves, guys.
This song is so complex I do not think I will ever fully grasp every part of it. This is an absolutely amazing song right here. Parkway has proved they can step outside of their comfort zone and still create amazing music.
My life is a weathered down shipwreck Splitting at the seams, held together by memories and dreams Every face I have seen, a stitch on my mind On a shadow of a dream And my heart is its cargo, a worn out old thing Been dragged around this rock more times than you'd believe To the east I call home But the west, she is calling From the north, to the south Forever I'm drifting away With more hope than fear Put your head to my chest and you will hear The sound of it beating Is the sound of love leaving The sound of it beating Is the sound of the emptiness flooding in Flooding in It's the sound of the emptiness flooding in And my life, it aches And my heart, it breaks And I just can't shake the feeling all I am is sinking While one thousand eyes stare back at me But the ones that I'd die for are the ones I can't see Flooding in It's the sound of the emptiness
I cant fuckin believe it. Every album Parkway deliver's a new sound, and every album is so good. its just incredible. Parkway just knows metal i guess.
Wow first time hearing this song .. and there is no words .. They dont make music like yhis these days ... Im stonded and drunk peace and love people cheers ! Xo
With this album, I officially place Parkway Drive at the top of my favorite bands of all time. All of their albums are spectacular, but Atlas is so much more than anything they've previously done. I'm not surprised that they continue to impress me.
Parkway Drive is the band that got me into hardcore and saved my life. Epitaph, please bring them to Florida. They havent played here since warped tour.
I have a really hard time understanding the lyrics of any hard metal band, but the way they play the songs gets to me in a positive way specially when I am alone listening to the music.
So I don't even know what this style of music is called and I've certainly never wanted to anything to do with music where the singer was yelling like this - but these guys are amazing. Thank you Triple J for featuring this album, don't think I would have ever discovered them otherwise.
What the fuck?? my mate told me this song is terrible?? If it's not heavy and brutal the entire song he doesn't like it. This is the best they've ever been musically. He's a drummer. So, if i try to explain being creative with music it's like teaching a baby to drive : They will never get it, even if they did, there's nothing they could do with it.

This song is a constant reminder of myself, I'm missing my family but there isn't anything I can do about it till Christmas, overall I feel I'm becoming more of a shallow and self centered person day by day.

I used to listen to PWD years ago, just before Horizons album come out. I stopped listening for some unknown reason, heard this song - WOW it's deep. My love for PWD may be coming back after this... :)
Honestly, it's different. I personally disliked killing with a smile. But I loved Deep Blue and Horizons. This album has brought out a new side of Parkway Drive, and it's great. Too early to judge though.
Am I the only one that thinks pwd performing with a full orchestra would be the greatest thing ever?

quite possibly one of best parkway drive songs ever made.
Most memorable drum pattern ever. Favorite song on the album lyrics are superb.

This song gives me chills at the intro...the whole song for that matter
Parkway Drive is the band that got me into hardcore and saved my life. Epitaph, please bring them to Florida. They havent played here since warped tour.
This is by far the greatest most emotionally charged metal song I have ever heard. Fucking incredible
Breakdown of sanity - paralyzed check it out
I have a really hard time understanding the lyrics of any hard metal band, but the way they play the songs gets to me in a positive way specially when I am alone listening to the music.
"The sound of the emptines FLOODING IIIIIIIN"
That part resonates with the emptineness in me and makes emotions start FLOODING OOOOOUT
I love the high pitched strings instrument playing during the first "Flooding In"
It's quite chilling
Any other songs with similar style?
Justin O.
Most of the album (Atlas) is like that. I highly recommend it. :)
+mash4092 The river its the song that got me hooked on this band

This is by far the greatest record released!!

Best song of the album,
Best song on the album.

Amazing album and band 🤘❤️
Downloaded illegal copy early because I couldn't wait. Downloaded legal copy off iTunes on release day anyway. Epic album, money well spent.

Really great song! Love it!
i am fucking blown away with the pure raw emotion this song creates in me.

Put this Atlas song in setlist. This song always remind friend my family and its call home
I used to listen to PWD years ago, just before Horizons album come out. I stopped listening for some unknown reason, heard this song - WOW it's deep. My love for PWD may be coming back after this... :)
These breakdowns will be with me until Im old and crippled...falling apart slowly from the head banging
I hope they come to canada. but yeah im willing to travel to see these guys.
this is what makes pwd so awesome ! ^^
02:12
You guys are seriously the best
I liked all pwd I feel like this one is more melodic but of course has its heaviness
Still the undisputed champions of fucking breakdowns...!!!..album is a powerhouse!
Why they never played it live.. this is amazin song
I still think Atlas will always be their best album
The guitar work on this is amazing lol streching some fingers here just to do the fret work
01:38 :O
Love the intro
Can't wait to see them this sunday ;3;
Thumbs up if you hear this song everyday !!!!
Listenin to that solo when high takes me to the next fucking dimension lol
this song is quite intriguing
This album and Deliver Us- Darkest Hour are tied for best use of acoustic in my opinion.
Preetty sure im gonna go buy this now... Like literally im getting my keys as im writing this and now im on my way to the car!
Just ....just wow
If The River would have a rival, it would be Atlas. Well, at least that my opinion.
My life is a withered down shipwreck, splitting at the seams
Thanks alot!
Mastodon-esque. Love it.
FLOODING INNNNNN!
either that or Vancouver i'll travel for either :P
PARKWAY GET YOUR ASSES TO EDMONTON ALBERTA CANADA!!!!!!
Honestly, it's different.
I personally disliked killing with a smile.
But I loved Deep Blue and Horizons.
This album has brought out a new side of Parkway Drive, and it's great.
Too early to judge though.
Entertain people... by expressing themselves.
this is epic
Flooding in
A question - every musician does that, but none have really complained about it. It's what they do for their living - entertain people.
Cephalic Carnage also wrote a song about it...it's not a new concept and doesn't mean they are bitching.
Brutiful
Wow.
@jacqui835 It's not really "discovering" them if someone else; in this case a national radio station, exposes it to you..... Just saying
Acousticore?
well, this shit is fucking amazing
1:11 ☺
FUCKING AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME !!....no words to describe it !!! :3
Gotta leave my mark
Roland TD-9 intro?
2:57
Where did you read that?
OH! qué sólo! . . . !
Jesus changed my life.
Memphis May Fire also wrote a song about it called "Miles Away". It features Kellin Quinn, but you can't hear him, so its cool.
Type this in Google: "alternative press parkway drive atlas track by track"
Although i like the new album, i don't feel them as powerful as the previous ones, KWAS and horizons were superior in my opinion
Poseidon's jam
just woke up and listening to some PWD !!
This is dat shit baii
