- Hannah's trip to the United States includes visits to New York, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Texas, Louisiana.
(Hannah: USA-Hannah Hauxwell Conquers America)
Hannah featured in the documentary Too Long a Winter in 1973 and A Winter Too Many in 1989. Her first visits abroad were documented in the tv series Hannah Hauxwell: Innocent Abroad in 1992.
Interview.
Every few years I come back searching for Hannah on YT as I find her such an inspiring and comforting watch. Given that throughout her 40s to early 60s she lived in relative isolation after the death of her last family member , her mother - and much of it in abject poverty without tv or running water and electricity, her positivity and cheerfulness touches me in an indescribable way. I’m so grateful she was ‘discovered’ and received so much love and respect in her later years. RIP an incredible lady 🤍
I could not have said it better. She was a remarkable woman whose legacy will live forever. I;m so glad that this journey to America was added to YT.
Very well said. My feelings exactly. I have had the great pleasure to visit Cotherstone in Yorkshire as I ahve freinds who live there. An idylic picturesque part of England.
Her statue should be on the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square, epitomy of independence, grit and humility.

Hannah on the plinth? Great idea. If anyone deserves to be honoured, it’s Hannah. A permanent statue of her with one of her beloved cows would be perfect.
Made me so happy that she got to travel and experience things as she really seemed to enjoy it, she was clearly intelligent and educated too despite the conditions she had grown up with.
What mesmerised me the most about Hannah is, for someone who has barely has had any contact with the outside world, she seems to be at ease with all the public speaking and the attention she gets (I know I would have been a wreck with so much attention). I think her reclusiveness in an odd way has preserved her conscience and kept it pure. I believe this is why she bravely faces the world with having little to no experience at all, almost child-like quite endearing actually.
She truly was a Daughter of the Dales, wasn't she ellejay?
Speaks like a true lady, innocent enough to be an angel, savvy and careful enough to stay alive and unharmed to age 93
What an inspirational lady Hannah was, so humble and graceful...after all those years alone through terrible conditions she never once complained. I'm so pleased she got the chance to see what millions of us take for granted. A true lady in everything she did. R.I.P Hannah you're work is done. God bless you lovely lady. ❤
What a great ambassador for the human race, such a cool person, RIP Hannah...
She was a lovely gentle soul. Kind and polite.
Her approach to life is so refreshing. Even how she speaks, without distraction and waste.
She is from GOD'S own COUNTY!!!!
I love how she's always telling the truth while at the same time always very polite and respectful, even if she might disagree.
I'm so glad she was able to enjoy a different and more comfortable life in her old age. What an inspriation she was. Still is !
“They told me that young alligator is very tasty but I declined the opportunity to give an opinion.” Hannah is the most polite person god ever drew breath in. Such a dear woman!
What I like is that Hannah remained an interesting subject, even long after her success through being a prototype media celebrity (if I can put it that way - she was a ‘reality’ television personality before the term was coined).
She never let affluence and better personal circumstances turn her head and ruin her.
She came across as a gentle soul because she was a gentle soul. And she was remarkably perceptive for someone who had known isolation for so long and so well, being a far more sophisticated conversationalist and raconteur than many people who have made their living through the media.
Lovely words much love fae bonnie Scotland ❤
Strange to hear the female tour guide explaining to a lady who has survived harsh winters and for most of her life has found joy in the beauty of nature and a simple life, that Tiffany's is something to behold... its such a stark contrast.
Hannah wasn't that impressed by Tiffany's. Which I thought was utterly wonderful. Finding her beauty in sunshine reflecting in water. I adore her and find great comfort in her words.
Lol that was hilarious, Ms. Hauxwell gave a very clear, unimpressed reaction & the only thing the guide could reply with was "Look at the size of those diamonds" 😂😂😂
I'm sure Ms. Hauxwell knew just how much environmental and social damage the gem trade had caused. But as usual she kept it classy and kept it moving, God bless her
Love and God Bless u Hanna, RIP Dear Lady, ❤️
I had no idea that Hannah eventually travelled. Wonderful!
How lovely, I could listen to her all day, very educated and certainly no phased by fame, I am so glad she enjoyed her life after leaving her beloved farm which must have been heartbreaking for her,❤
A real woman what a treasure she truly was one of a kind beautiful in every possible way
I've just found this series with Hannah. Such simple words yet much wisdom and most diplomatic. Gives one motivation to get out there!
Loved how Miss Hauxwell expressed her political views + that she couldn’t refrain from comparing the relatively unimpressive White House with vintage Buckingham Palace. She was equally not impressed with tall buildings clustered together in a concrete jungle, teabags in less than “piping hot water” + a pretentious piece of jewellery in a shop window. She’s the true gem. Simply more ‘greenery’ would have done it for her🤗💕
Lovely human being. A sad loss. But in God's hands now.
Nothing less than piping hot water for tea
HANNAH HAUXWELL IN FRONT OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER: OMG WHAT A DIFFERENT ERA!
Love her so much. She will always be my Heroine
Hannah represented the good in all of us that has been buried by consumerism driven on by capitalism. When watching Hannah brings a tear to our eye, we cry for ourselves too.
Wat a beautiful post! Tears in my eyes
Yes, but what did you type that on? We all contribute to it.
I much prefer her old farm over anything in the US.
Hannah's accent is wonderful auld dales.
Its so amazing that this wonderful gentle being travelled the world after years of hardship...unreal!
Looks like she really enjoyed it, I'm so happy for her getting the opportunity to travel. She's a very educated and curious person too.
@@teijaflink2226 Yes very true
Oh gosh this is wonderful! Thank you so very much for posting this. I adore this sweet lady and was devastated to hear of her passing some time ago. I will be watching this often as I’ve not seen this particular film before.
I can't believe that's she's hardly been in contact with that many people and she is brilliant with having to talk to an audience. I would be terrified. She's a lovelly lady and I am so glad that she got tò do so many lovelly things . I will have to read her book.
I wonder what her long dead family would make of how she lived her later life, they must have worried as it became clear it was going to be her alone on the farm, and was for so many hard years.
it would be jaw dropping for them to see the way her life went!
@gail h that's exactly what I was thinking. For someone who has barely has had any contact with the outside world, she seems to be at ease with all the public speaking and the attention she gets (I know I would have been a wreck with so much attention). I think her reclusiveness in an odd way has actually protected her from experiencing the bad in the world or at least has not made her aware of it. Her conscience is pure and clear which is why she's brave while facing the world with little to no experience at all, almost like a young child who's playing with fire for the first time.
Beautifully done! So informative…. A real history lesson all throughout this video 🙏
Thank you for uploading this. Very interesting.
Beautiful soul ❤️🌈
Thankyou so much for sharing, really enjoyed, never saw this, though have her book.
What a tribute to amazing lady. R.i.p. Hannah 🌷⚘
A beautiful soul.
Drink every time Hannah says Yes.
😂 it is sweet though. Her 'yes's and 'isn't it's
First time I’ve found Hannah’s story and she is truly wonderful! Such a strong, tough woman and lovely to see her enjoying the world, even later in life! Almost a life i would dream off living up on the dales, how peaceful it must have been ❤️ Amazing
What a change in circumstances! After years of isolation on the farm, she took to world travel like a duck-to-water. Loved it.
So Hanna came to my hometown of Philly. Wow !!!
Thanks for upload
The greatest advocate of our country. We were so lucky to have lived alongside her and have her wisdom. A beautiful soul who proved that university education, for the truly wise, is perhaps somewhat unnecessary! RIP Miss Hawkeswell.
I have been isolated for many years I’m 53 years old..I hope one day I will come out of my shell and meet people and see things again like Hannah did ❤
She's not impressed with the concrete jungle and extravegance of modern life at all. Good on her.
She breaks my heart the way she says "The moonlight on the water, is one of the loveliest things" and like she said, no one can take it from her.
I feel the same way about the river near my house and its waterfall, set in a lovely woodland that no one can take. Even though everything I worked for was stolen at gunpoint, causing homelessness for me, yet no one can take the beauty of the world away 😍
RIP Dearest Dame of the Dales.
What a lovely, honest, innocent, naive, gentle and sincere woman. If only there were more like her
This is a great distraction, thanks for sharing.
What a remarkable woman✈️🚂🚢
What a beautiful sweet lady!
what a kind and courageous woman she was. I watched the videos about her. She had a hard life in the Midlands where she plodded on on her farm. Such a gentle soul. She spoke to her cows. She was so hard working and never complained about her harsh life. I am glad she was able to travel to America and have a good time. She looks all pampered in this video. I would have liked to know her, honestly. Brave soul. Marie the from France
Wonderful lady, one of a kind :)
Her books are great to read lovely lady xx
HANNAH ALWAYS SMILING
Our loss is heavens gain
What a wonderful pure soul hanna was, a gentle human but stong as an ox. A true Yorkshire woman. Bless her.
My Father was a sea captain and pilot and brought the QE2 into Halifax.
Hannah visiting Gettysburg! What a beautiful soul.
A precious Soul ❤️❤️❤️
Articulate to a fault all the time so inoffensive but always got her point across ❤
I have all her books what a remarkable woman🗼🚀🚂✈️🚢🕌⛩
Beautiful gentle lady RIP Hannah ❤
God bless her. I love her what a beautiful soul she sounds like the woman 👩who told the titanic story
this was almost 30 years ago
Interesting about the Amish and their traditional farming methods as Hannahs farm is now classed as an SSSI, area of special scientific interest due to her non use of chemicals and fertilisers. Its a wildflower meadow attracting rare species of flora and birds. I wonder if the Amish land is the same?
It's really incredible and deeply saddening to see footage of Hannah with the Twin Towers behind her. 15:01
Her slow and soft narration is much of a kin to forrest gump
Great Lady.
Hannah morphed into the Queen Mum God rest her soul.
Tough women from tough times.
Nowdays, a woman cant even make a loaf of bread.
Perhaps u haven't met the right women!
we can, mate.
She really wasn’t impressed by capitalism was she, all she wanted was to hang out with the cowboys god love her!
The Amish are usually wary of the English. I think he sensed her Viking ancestry.
An angel ❤
Does anyone know if Hannah went abroad again after this? Not a televised trip, but whether or not she ventured overseas on her own again?
Lovely !
Captain’s wife was sweet too.
She truly was a Daughter of the Dales.
What a remarkable woman ❤
Wasn’t she just a wonderful person. Rest in peace miss
Yes
Hear books make great reading
What a beautiful soul
Band of The Royal Welch Fusiliers playing them off 👍
Ha I bet the Americans couldn’t understand half of what she said, I struggled at times.
When did Hannah die?
Look at her face at the end...poor animal..! And
" everybody ' s laughing...."!
WHAT HAPPEN TO HANNAHS FARM
It was sold to a Wildlife Trust. Her land was untainted as no fertiliser or pesticide had been used on it. The Trust was able to get a grant in order to purchase it. It was pure as the driven snow. Her large furniture items were sold at a public Auction at her home. It was an emotional struggle for her letting it go.
The farm building itself was bought by a family who fixed it up. They only sold it a few years ago to a new family.
THANK YOU @!!!SO GLAD IT HAS BEEN SAVED I REALLY MISS HANNAH !!!!!
The captain of the ship is soooooo handsome 😍
more trees........
This daft bus promised greatness. "yes, Yes , yes"
Hannah didn't seem to enjoy the rodeo 😢
I hope she found a good women at some point in her later life. 🙏
I hope you find a nice man in your life. 😂
Why thank you are you offering? I’ll consider it if you can cook, clean and dig? 😂
...only Indians running...
Birkhatt?. What on earth is this?. Poor Hannah, people have always tried to cash in on her 🙄
Well she’s a fan of carter. She should have been glad to give it away. She sure expected to USA to give away. Carter? A boob
@@Mitzi1221 What ??
Not really. If they hadn't made the documentaries she would have probably died alone and penniless on her farm. As it was she got electricity and water supplied to her farm through public donations, she also made enough from her books to give her a comfortable life in retirement. And being taken all round Europe and the USA in comfort - including on the QE2 - is hardly 'cashing in on poor Hannah'.
Paul , where can I buy her books. I have only recently found this lovely lady
Yes why didnt they let her stay on her farm with a worker to assist. Do the odd trip if she wanted. It was the life she loved
A real sweetheart … I am looking to meeting her in the Heavenly city !
Thought she was about 80 here she was only 67, hard life, lived to 92 though! What a life.
