I LOVE that you care more about the stories than the physical books ❤️ that is how I have always felt, too. I get a little sad sometimes with what feels like a celebration of consumerism on youtube, where buying and collecting books seems to become more important than the stories inside of them. I'm so happy I found your channel ❤️❤️❤️
This comment means so much because sometimes I worry that as a booktuber, people think I should have 6 copies of each book including special editions, etc - when in reality, I just have the one standard copy and it’s usually pre-owned!! I just honestly believe that the story inside matters more than the cover... But I’m so happy you found my channel as well, and welcome!❤️❤️
I really loved the fact that you emphasized more on the matter of the book or what the story is best upon rather than the huge haul of multiple versions of the same of book like the other booktubers ❤️. It is the story and the magic that the book weaves that matters and not the pristine cover and spine. It felt really good to go through this video. Best wishes
i am sooo excited listening to your voice and hearing about the most amazing books from you !!! I am also here because of the Giveaway !! Congrats to 750
Oh my god, the Norton Anthology... we call it the doorstop or the paperweight. Affectionately, of course. Usually. Anyway, this was a super cute video--thank you so much for the tour and I love so many of the books you talked about. Currently halfway through The Song of Achilles so the end was a reminder of what I have in store! I'd really recommend Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley as a great LGBTQ+ read... it's about integrating schools in the 50s' in America and so is pretty intense but I really enjoyed it.
It makes an excellent paperweight omg - let me know how you feel at the end of Achilles, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Thank you also for the LGBT recommendation, it’s on my list now!❤️
nice to see someone with Noughts and Crosses on their shelves! one of my favourite series but it's so underrated on booktube and it feels like only people from the UK have heard of it :( Also for LGBT book recs I highly recommend "The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue" by Mackenzi Lee - it's YA historical fiction and it was hilarious (but it also kind of made me cry)!
Some of my favorite books with lgbt characters:- • carry on by rainbow rowell • Of fire and stars by audrey coulthurst • Simon vs the homosapien agenda by becky albertalli • Her royal highness by rachel Hawkins
@@MyYAFictionAddiction ur welcome!!❤ There are more but i cant remember them😅 I'll send u an ask or dm u on tumblr with the complete list! Im sure u will like the books!
bookshelf tours are some of my favorite videos!! I love seeing people's editions of books. I loved the bloody chamber you've got! mine is different though theyve always put out wonderful covers for that short story collection!! hope you're well
Great video, I always love bookshelf tours! I would love to hear you talk about your Shadowhunters reading journey as well! (And Chain of Iron is so close now that I don't know what to do😅)
Thank you! So glad you loved! And YES I want to do a shadowhunter reading journey video at some point!! Chain of Iron is also SO CLOSE (I think I might do a reading vlog for it??)
@@MyYAFictionAddiction Oh yes, do a reading vlog, that would be so much fun! I’m predicting a lot of plot twists and overall being chocked during the entire book😄
I love this video! I mostly read e-books and audiobooks so I don’t own a bookshelf, but it was so fun to see this tour. :) That copy of Emma is so pretty.🥰
Omg,u have the illustrated histry shadwhnter book.can u make a vid about it?rating the portraits as to how accurate they are from how u imagine the Characters and what u thnk of the bios. i dnt have a copy and i could watch u talk bout shdwhnters all day
Topic shelf is very similar to mine! But I’ve kept loads of my kid books like Harry Potter and jaqueline Wilson too and some other random ones that I loved! Also are people triggered by hp cos of jq only or for another reason too?
Omg I love that we have similar collections! Well, it’s largely due to the fact that JK is a massive transphobe and general trash human being, but there are also other offensive parts of the books as well that don’t sit right with me and a lot of readers, so I just wanted to do a little disclaimer and heads up xx
