I'd love to see Josh from Sylosis on the show. This is a project that really needs more coverage.
Josh Middleton is a beast on guitar. He would be a great guest!
THIS!
Would love to see a breakdown like this for Cycle of Suffering or Monolith!!
He's so inspiring as an artist. "Catch lightning in bottle," "Just do it, just make things happen," "Always be in top condition," Keep the [left] brain side of life in order ("insanely regimented prep work"), then you can let the [right] brain side be creative and spontaneous ("artistic improvisational freedeom"), etcetera.
I'm translating the energy behind his words into my realm, the visual art realm, and I find his creative energy and thought process so valuable. He's truly a creator's creator.
In a nutshell...
Trey: So how do you and your band go about writing your songs?
Matt: We’re aliens.
Trey: ......Amazing
hahaha
great chat guys, always cool to hear how others approach the writing/recording process
legend gillion! the best melodeath riff god
Dude this kind of podcast is exactly what I need. And the fact that you started with my favorite band, who Matt is the whole reason why i'm playing guitar today. When i learned he was on twitched on feb 8th 2018, i picked my guitar that was previously collecting dust, and i've not put it away since, in fact i've grown my collection. He's literally my biggest inspiration of all time. Now i'm in full composing mode, i love writing, and seeing how my heroes do it, brings so much insight. Nah Trey, seriously this is a fantastic idea, and I'm so happy you're doing this! Consider me a regular listener!
This right here. Been listening to trivium since ember to inferno. He is the very reason I even own a 7 string. Cheers 🍻
So when are we going to see a Heafy/Tremonti collab?
I can't believe how high the last three albums have skyrocketed from previous Trivium discography. To find out the creative process is so earthborn is truly eye opening and I'm definitely gonna revisit my own old songwriting attempts in that spirit.
Basically the only thing I'd bitch about in ITCOTD is the anticlimactic ending of The Phalanx and maybe the verse vocals in Damocles, but otherwise - an easy AOTY 2021 and Trivium's GOAT so far.
Matt's awesome! LOVED In the Court of the Dragon. That record slaps.
Awesome talk!
I would love to hear more about lyric writing in the future, though!
I feel like that's a REALLY weak spot for MANY metal musicians!
Great interview, Trey! Looking forward to future casts.
Very cool to hear his perspective on the process 👍
Hell yeah, that's freakin' awesome! Wish I was there live.
That was sick!!! Matt’s such a chilled dude! 🤘🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Cant believe this exist. I love fucking Love Trivium social media presence!!
So great to hear what he had to say and how open he was with everything. Mad inspiring!
I missed this live, but excellent podcast. Glad I went back to listen to this.
I’d love to see you get the guys from BTBAM on here. I think they’d be an excellent fit.
The BTBAM guys are wizards. Insane vision and insane musicianship to nail it all live every time.
This is a great idea for a podcast, and this first episode was amazing. Matt was very open about his writing process.
Great video! Got really inspired :)
Loved this, would've liked it to be a little longer but he's a busy man. It made me feel like I've never worked hard enough on anything. Huge fan of matt and trivium, and this channel, even though you gonged me...
on ya man cheers for this
The amount of work that goes into playing how Matt and the rest of the band do, is something I just can’t understand. The dude absolutely slays on guitar, and sings at the same time. If you’ve ever seen Alex hit the drums, he’s like a machine. It feels like he has an extra set of invisible hands from how many sounds are coming out of his kit
That was sick lol Nice one man
Shout out to Trey for making the exact content I wanted to see!! 😍😍😍
Awesome
this content was fucking amazing!!!!!!
Saw Trivium with Children of Bodom and Amon Amarth, in a small bar in Santa Ana, CA. Hell of a show!
that quote he said at the end is similar to what I've read in philosophical books
Nice that you chose the Finnish Independence day for this stream! 😁
Would also be great to see a talk with Andy from Black Crown Initiate, that is one talented band
Oh hey I know you! 😉
@@everetta117 friend sighting in the wild!
Please do a show on Sylosis with Josh Middleton. That would be amazing and I'm sure he'd be down for it.
Hey Trey! Loved the stream, very cool content! Can''t wait to see more. What's the Logitech camera you mentioned you are using?
Logitech Brio. What you were seeing for my cam on this one though is a Sony FX3, I use the Brio mainly for Zoom calls now haha
@@treyxaviermusic thanks! I'm starting to stream music/guitar related content. It would be awesome if you made a video sharing your setup and system specs. I'm finding it hard to know what is the minimum setup for streaming video and good audio from a DAW. My CPU is harding really hard! Haha but I'll work with what I got.
Thanks again for sharing! Keep up the awesome content! Really liking the song writing shift with the channel! 🤘
Joss Allen would be a great co-host, I think you guys would have awesome chemistry for that.
So stoked for the podcast in general, cheers.
Joss is a rad dude
A songwriting interview with Caleb Shomo would be amazing
Trey should have a chat with Mike or Greg from Allegaeon!
Matt is totally right there's a lot of bands nowadays due to the power of the internet. They'll live in Chicago their drummer will live in Boston and the guitar player might live in California and the singer is in Wyoming and in a right stuff and just recorded like on GarageBand they never really get the feel of jamming together until. They start doing their tour warm-ups or they go out on tour Matt is totally right you should write riffs together any practice space that's how the rift should come about
Maybe a question to the guests about what they think you should not do in songwriting? Maybe a question tying into that about songwriting with cooperative/un"" Members?
Would be awesome if you got Johnny Franck from Bilmuri in here!!
im just going to screenshot all of those
I liked the callback to the riff salad😂
I'd love to see any of the dudes from Mastodon come over and share their process. They've covered much ground over their discography. also Josh Middleton, that guy shits riffs lol
Brendon Small and Ihsahn would be sick guests
Bands should absolutely write for themselves! I hate songs that are engineered to be on the radio
having another team mate doesn't mean they are engineered to be on the radio. A good producer goes with what the bands goal is and doesn't push it in the direction of mainstream/radio.
POLAR feel the effervescence
I couldn’t stop watching and figuring out what the people outside his window are doing. 😂
30:28 HE SAID THE THING
how do i spell "aburaki" vocal technique? can't find it.
“Ibaraki”
Get BTBAM on here plz.
can you invite alissa white gluz? I would love to hear her about that theme.
overrated singer
