There are 'those' Trivium fans who expect the new album to have songs identical to ones off of Shogun or Ascendancy. I always end up loving the direction they choose!
I know that the comment is 5 years old, but I find it funny that Silence In The Snow actually is off of the Shogun sessions, yet to this day people complain about it
Seeing this for the first time in 2024. Gotta say it’s still probably my favorite album. I love the old I love the new but this is just so unique and goes to my roots as a fan of hard rock. My 5 year old son absolutely ADORES this album too! He constantly wants to listen to it! I just bought the MKH Origins (in left handed thanks Matt!) and the first song I’m promising to learn for my son is Silence in the Snow!
still love this album, even though its different than the other ones. if i am in the mood for it i really enjoy it. its the one that really got me into trivium, actually.
I hope the screaming does return, but Matt does it properly and brings the silence in the snow vocal range with it. That will be the absolute best record with Shogun instrument technicality, Silence in the Snow singing, and Ascendancy screaming. The perfect storm...... Plus Paul Wandtke who seems like an absolute monster drummer. Mat Madiro was great! Just a seemed a little robotic. Paul has the flare and energy as well as the technicality. 😈🤘🏼
Personally I thought the screaming in In Waves was top notch, it showed how far he has come with screaming through whole songs even. I have some versions of their songs from Silence In The Snow with screaming on my channel if that interests you :D
kevin justome Yup, I tried to scream like Matt's earlier days as much as possible and even tried to mix it to sound like his screams, so this was the best I could do as far as making it sound like something from their older albums
that's one thing I love about Trivium: how Matt just wants to keep getting better (vocally and guitar playing) even when he's already "livin' the dream". That's crazy ambition there.
I always like Trivium. They are very motivated people, especially Matt. I like their approach and I like that they always try to give the best. The fact is that their sound is based on a classic Metal structure and their music background has always been Metal. The heavy metal stuff is characterized by 2 elements: technical stuff and dirty vocal (scream, growl...). Logically if you take away these two elements that way of making music collapses and you have to start from the beginning including the the kind of music you listen to. From what I understand they have always listened metal and this has a positive effect on the genuinesses of their old albums. In their new albums I perceive only the frustation of someone trying to be more that can actually rapresent. The truth is...you're NOT Opeth, you're NOT Dream Theather, you're NOT Tool, you're NOT Mastodon, you're NOT Steven Wilson...you ARE TRIVIUM!
I'm super happy with Matt's vocals in the new album. I didn't even realize the lack of or miss the screaming at all the first four or five times I listened to the album all the way through. The screaming is definitely amazing no doubt, and awesome to hear live, but the range and melodies of his voice in this record is just off the charts. It's nice to have one record of nothing but things to sing along to. I think it was well executed. All the guys are so smart and are always trying harder to top themselves and learn, that's going to keep Trivium alive forever.
I was not a crazy fan of in waves or this project, but I really respect Trivium and their hearts are in the right place. Ember to Shogun is the Trivium i'm used to. But you can't deny the effort Matt and the gang put to try to evolve their music.
"Silence in the snow" es el disco con el que trivium muestra su lado maduro, con un sonido de metal puro, Pero no dejando de lado el estilo de Trivium. En lo personal este álbum se coloco como mi disco favorito de todos. Espero que sigan creciendo y tengan el reconocimiento que se merecen.
I love these guys; one of the only bands out there that consistently cranks out great music. Also, one of the few that shows true professionalism and dedication to their craft. MKH's speech at 15:00 highlights that.
Becoming The Dragon, The part in the middle with nothing but double bass thumpin, straight chuggin riffage, and no words, Hands down my all time fave. That being said, I really enjoy the singing also, I hope you guys keep goin.
I listen for long time into trivium. And i think they are awesome. They just rise and explore, makes something different in every single record. Just like the newest, the sin and the sentence,, i think it's just like the other masterpiece shogun!
i saw you guys live in October 2016 in Pittsburgh. it was my first ever concert and I got to see my favorite band! and I got to meet you and I got my shirt autographed and a picture as well. you guys are so humble and that's great to see! im only 18 and I think your music is so much better than the stupid rap or dubstep shit that's popular today. just keep rocking out your the best!
I agree this album gets better and better the more you listen to it. Matt has a great voice! Great lyrics the ghost that haunts you helped me decide weather or not I should go to the emergency room after being sick for a week and ignoring it. I saved myself I knew it was the only way. badass guys gives me chills...I HATE the E.R
Trivium has been since I first heard of them, been in the upper echelons of my favorite bands. What I truly love about this band is how they will always try to grow musically. No fear with trying different things while still maintaining that "trivium" sound. It has never mattered what album I put in, I know I'm gonna love it. Its a magical, mystery metal tour in my head. Especially when I listen to the album sequentially. I cant say I have a favorite album or song, cuz thats an impossible choice but I don't have an album or song that I dislike.
They are putting so much work into it and they are constantly evolving but in the end I prefer the old times. Maybe because I am used to it, grown up with it. It is very tragic that Matt won't be screaming that much anymore. Nevertheless I have mad respect for these guys, I hope they can suprise us with new stuff in future (I am still hoping for the black metal record :D) and they'll stay one of my all time favorite bands. Trivium, keep it up ImI
Found out about Trivium well over a year ago thanks to my friend Saad. He had me listen to Strife. At first I only listened to the more popular songs, not because I didn't like the rest but I just didn't find them on youtube at first. Down fron the Sky, Strife, In Waves being some of the first songs I listened to I already had a bit of an idea what Trivium was and I loved it. When I found the whole albums, Ascendancy, Shogun etc etc and eventually Ember to Inferno, I fell in love. Trivium has been my favorite band ever since. My least favorite album is The Crusade. It's a great album and has some amazing songs on it but the other albums are simply better, in my opinion. Ascendancy is my favorite by far but I love basically every single thing you've ever produced. I even found the Blue Demo somewhere and man I just knew it. You guys are my #1. I absolutely love Trivium. I am also very happy with the latest album Doesn't have a single song that I do not enjoy. Looking forward to what the coming years will bring. See you there
Very nice man! Glad to know new Trivium fans. The album I like the most is Shogun or Ember to Inferno, and The Crusade is the one I like the least also. - Just a fellow fan of Trivium since 2005:D
+Luis Bgarza In 2005 I was in kindergarten I think XD I know it's only been a year but that doesn't take away that I absolutely love Trivium's music Also, I'm happy about Trivium's fanbase. It's not a toxic fanbase or anything. All the Trivium fans I have spoken to have been kind and cool people
+Skull T See, this is what Matt was talking about and why I love Trivium fans - I'd rank the albums Shogun, Ascendancy, In Waves, Ember to Inferno, The Crusade, Silence in the Snow, Vengeance Falls. Completely different tastes but still united by the one band.
+fullswingin Very true. Different styles of metal and I feel like every single album is new and 'refreshing'. Not one song where I've thought "Have I not heard this on another album?" Trivium is just awesome.
All their songs are so good and I love every album, so I'm not sure what my favorite album is, but I do have to say this new one is absolutely phenomenal. And I think I've listened to it itleast 20 times now lol
I listened to the whole album for the first time on a road trip with my friends and we all agreed you put together that old school feel that lots of new bands are lacking. All i can say is congrats on this brat album and I can't wait for whats coming next!!
Awesome video love the album I saw Trivium live at the music farm in Charleston SC the first show of the tour absolutely blew my fuckin mind and completely worth the whiplash
What's the matter with the "Bloke"-Setlist at 8:32? Also I love the new record and I really love every record (though I don't have heard much of the Ember to Inferno and Crusade Stuff). The only one I don't like quite as much as the others would be Vengeance Falls.
These guys always seem so chill and professional. Especially Matt, he always seems to want to improve himself. 15:30 oh and yes Matt, we have seen your instagram, you lloovvee your food :D

Love seeing the recording process. Now we just need another live in Chapman studios!
+Nader Zein Yes!
+Nader Zein Oh fucking yes !!!!
And playing with Chapman guitars (?
+Nader Zein FUCK CHAPMAN

There are 'those' Trivium fans who expect the new album to have songs identical to ones off of Shogun or Ascendancy.

I agree with you a 100%. I just wish Trivium would have included some instrumental songs like the crusade.

Matt does Brazillian Jiu-Jistu, Corey wears a Sepultura shirt... yet, not dates in Brazil :P
They are afraid of the burocracies here in Brazil and so the increasing violence...
Prob has nothing to do with Brazil being one of the most dangerous countries on earth
Corey's favorite word is officially "vibe."

sincerly, it was very very near of him ! ( sorry for my english ) Good voice and good concept ! You won a suscriber ;)
just an advice. For me, it's sound to much compressed, try to make it a lil more present and more treble on it ( i think it could be much better ) =)
that's one thing I love about Trivium: how Matt just wants to keep getting better (vocally and guitar playing) even when he's already "livin' the dream".

Lol. What is Matt doing at 13:50?
+Eddie Hardt His transformation to full on Asian is complete
+Eddie Hardt I have no idea! But it's very comforting, I like it
+Eddie Hardt * Being Japanese intensifies *
he just smoked a pound of weed lmao

Pull me from the Void is definitely my favorite song off the new album
The one where he literally keeps saying the same thing??
I mean that's not so uncommon in choruses.

@@tfwnoyandere it sucks. Lol

I love this band. I saw them in Colorado Springs. It was epic. They are some of the best musicians making music today.
Matt's face at 13:58 is fucking priceless. It's a fucking meme.

+Trivium Memes Oh yeah !
I'm a big fan of these guys. I love that Matt does Jiu Jitsu and applies the principles to the band!
I always loved that Trivium always acknowledges where they came from and their influences. Always comes through in their playing.
I listened Trivium when I was 15 or 16 years old; now at 25, I found them again with this amazing album!! I will never stop listening to them!!

i dig it tho ..
I love this band. So so Nice

Hey i am brazilian i love trivium
TRIVIUM FOR LIFE \m/
Excelente trabajo, Trivium es una gran banda y sus integrantes son unos músicos espectaculares
This so blew my mind, I have so much more admiration and respect for trivium then I did ( Which is not to be taken lightly) as they are by far my favorite band and I do not believe there is anything they have done I do not own musically and I have to admit I love every album and every single song. Be it the screaming ones to the newest singing ones.
I even like the Master of Puppets (*) or the Version without the (*) (not sure as it does not tell me what the (*) means but the difference in his vocals is HUGE. That showed me he worked or works hard to improve.
Very good documentary I am so impressed..
Legends at work!

I still don't understand the fanboys' complaints about this album. Seems the band gave their heart to write the best lyrics and compose the finest songs. It's a fucking masterpiece and my favorite album so far.
it honestly sounds amazing. you could call me a fanboy as i basicly own every album on both CD and vinyl :P
but you can clearly hear that they gave it their all for this album, you can hear how much they've grown over the years. you can still hear that classic sound. its basicly everything packed in one album.
but the thing i love most about them is just the simple fact that they keep doing new things. and they can do all these different things really well on stage. so i dont really get why people are complaining.
if they want a band that does the same thing every album and every song they should listen to 5 finger death punch or some other generic sounding metal band
Wow i am shocked when they speak about the matt's screaming.
+Santiago zapata arango I knew something happened cause it is the same thing that happened to the lead singer of Linkin Park, he was screaming wrong and destroying is vocal chords.
+Santiago zapata arango Unfortunately its a common problem with bands who do a lot of screaming. Hes at least trying to do something about it before the reconstructive throat surgeries hit though.
+SLSakuzas thats the main thing that scared me cause I'm lead singer and I do screams too.
Here we go again.
They could've had a St.Anger lol, "all jamming in a room to write an album"
to be honest i would never have known mat was a bad singer starting off but in this he sounds so fucking bad ass
Mat was such an awesome young drummer. Sad to see he's no longer with them. Every time I've seen Trivium they lose a drummer soon after. :(
Documentary of my 2015 best album of the year :D
A half Asian doing an impression of a full Asian. I love it
Bloody brilliant!
Thanks for sharing!!!!
Still my favourite album.
I love this!
epic documentary ! love it
Holy shit, Matt's Asian face is pure gold
Love you guys so much! I personally don't like Vengeance Falls so much but I feel that with this new one you guys are back on your roots
PD: Matt wearing a UFO shirt omg! This man is so great
Awesome
Nice treat!
did anyone notice matt playing the acoustic guitar at around the eight minute mark is actually the chorus of "Shogun"?
Ascendancy is still the best, no question about it.
the song at 19:43. a potential bonus track or a track wrinting for the documentary? sounds pretty good..
11.05 - Sickness Unto You??
Sounds like it
Matt didn't choose the screams, the screams chose him.
see you guys at Rock on the Range
