Ikr, One Time My Lovebird Got Injured On His Wing By The Ceiling Fan And I Just Wanted To See Did He Get Seriously Injured..BUT OH LORD IT SCREAMED AND BIT MY FINGER OF
Ive been a Lovebird breeder for 20 years. This is not the way to tame a lovebird. There are 3 stages of taming them. You're main objective is to build trust this is true, but using a perch like that will scare a non tamed lovebird. Here are some tips: If you buy a Lovebird try to buy one WITHOUT its wings clipped. Clipping the wings makes training them a lot more difficult since flight is a main defense of birds. Take that away and they become very shy and scared of human touch. 1. First stage is to use a towel to handle your lovebird. This stage can last 3 weeks. The idea here is you want to create a safe way to show the Lovebird you are not going to harm them. Every day during this stage you must handle them at least for 10 minutes or so. Eventually the Lovebird will stop fighting you to be handled in the Towel. Then you are ready for step 2 2. Begin to allow the Lovebird to come out of the cage itself. Handle it for a few minutes then let it walk around your house a bit. Get in comfortable with its environment. This stage could last another few weeks. 3. Now its time to remove the towel. You too will be tested because you still might think your Lovebird will bite you. If you did steps 1 & 2 correct, you will find they actually will be quite docile. From this point on you can train them to sit on your shoulder and learn tricks.
No. Remember that a bird has eyes on its sides so it cannot see the towel coming from the top. When I say throw a towel I don't mean fling it. I mean think of it like a light toss. Once its covered with the towel you will see it calms down quickly.
Well small tip, you mentioned them. If they are more than one you'll always be left getting yourself hurt, so if you have one bird its really very easy to tame him.
That's exactly it. A scared lovebird won't even let your hand close one bit before they start flying away. I tried to tame one but it was impossible. I only got him to stand on my shoulder but I would not dare to try to grab him cause he would fly away instantly and trust me when I say I tried!!
he already started off a little game though. It's completely different when you buy from a breeder who doesn't handle them. To me, he looked tame already he was just gaining trust for you. He wasn't biting of completely freaking out (at least w what you showed LOL). I have 4 and 9 babies on the way 😄
drugs_are_yummy I tamed (kind of) an Amazon like this. He would bite my hands and move away from me, but by the end he would let me pet around his head and touch his beak. What I did was that I hand fed him a bunch of treats, such as cucumber, chili and broccoli, I just kept it exciting and new. I also touched him gently with a stick, and he let me pet him with the stick around his head and under his beak. My advice for you is to not react when the bird bites you, just let him at it, an Amazon is a lot bigger than a lovebird and I wasn’t hurt. But whenever he stepped away from me I would withdraw too. That way he knew he could escape the situation if he felt too uncomfortable, and he learned that biting wasn’t the way. :) I also advice teaching it to step up onto a stick and then putting it down again, and chatting with it a bunch. Birds love noise! Making a lot of noise signals to them that you aren’t a predator, since in the wild a predator would usually stay quiet. Avoid quick movements, remember that you move like a predator, and the bird might feel really uncomfortable and threatened. Also make sure only to touch it if it allows you to. Forcing contact with the bird will NOT make it trust you. Don’t touch it’s toes when it’s crawling on the cage, that’s not allowing you to touch it. Focus on positive interactions. I would sit for hours on end in front of the cage, chatting with the bird, singing for him. Sometimes he would even join. :) and remember to be patient.
@@knogne5073 I was going to say the exact same thing. I think you not reacting assures them that you're not a predator and trying to hurt them. So if u keep on rubbing when they bite you they will stop and calm down.
raise them from 2-3weeks old they will be very attached to you, some even free flight them with the proper training edit:I have a vid of my hand fed bird
You were stroking your lovebird, on it's back, from head to tail. You will get away with doing that, on a male lovebird and on an immature female. However, when you do that with a mature, female lovebird, or even an immature bird, close to maturity, you will sexually excite her, which will likely trigger her nesting instinct and thus, her egg production. This is because stroking her from head to tail is exactly what a male lovebird does when copulating with the female. To put it in human terms, stroking her like that, isn't just foreplay, it is part of actual intercourse, to the female lovebird. As an egg is released from the ovaries, in a human female, and travels to the wall of the uterus, sexually exciting your female lovebird will cause her body to release her eggs and then further develop them. Triggering her to produce eggs will happen even if you do not have a male lovebird with her. The eggs she produces will, of course, be infertile. She will then go through all the stages of laying s clutch of eggs. You will have to allow her to sit upon the eggs for 3 to 4 weeks, or until she loses interest. So she will stay in her nest almost 24/7, only coming out to eat, drink, defecate and if you are very lucky, she may interact with you for a minute or two. If you take her eggs away from her too soon, she will, as with a laying hen, keep producing more eggs. Each clutch of eggs will take more nutrients from her body, more calcium from her bones. Vitamins and minerals, that would have gone to her body, will go into making the egg's shells, instead. If you are a breeder, you will know to include more vitamins, minerals and calcium, in her diet but the vast majority, of those who watch this video, will not know to do that. So, with each clutch of eggs, her body will be depleted of the very things she needs to have a healthy body and a long life. Isn't it amazing that just by petting your lovebird, as you would a cat, you can cause all of that to happen? As with any pet you have, they have things you should and shouldn't do. A parrot isn't a cat. Granted, it is nice to cuddle with both a parrot and a cat but as with any pet you care for, you have to learn what you should and shouldn't do, in order to keep them healthy. You also should learn those things, before you teach your bad habits to others, via a video on UA-cam
Leobullet1 ohhhh well but my cockatiel has been laying eggs for 7yrs and ur right she just comes out to eat drink and play and than she goes away. Even now i have a male for 3 yrs her eggs still dont hatch and shes a plucker her head is bald and so is her under the wings and neck and stomach any ideas wat should i do
Leobullet1 the point is that stroking her like that turns the bird on and it will lay eggs that are infertile and you need to feed her more calcium while she lays eggs.
I have had my lovebird 13 years now, he was 5 when I got him....his name is Chirpy....he can chirp for food, water, the window, lights, oven....it is amazing how intelligent these birds really are. I have spent hundreds of hours with him. I can fall asleep on the couch and wake and guess who is tucked under my neck. Chirpy comes to the call 90% of the time if I leave his cage open. I would have never thought I would develop the relationship I have with a bird, in fact my bird has been more fun than some cats and dogs. All these folks who say you are doing the training thing wrong....don't listen...as long as you keep your bird fed, watered and loved you will do just fine the same way I have. Remember I said he was 5 when I got him....your bird doesn't train in just 4 or 5 days but much like us will train well over the days, months, years that you spend with them.
Not the fact , but I have wild ones non tamed , when I enter my hand they are scared but the don't come to rip off my flesh Where as lutino lovebird , she was with me since 6 months but now shes over a year , sge doesnt bite when shes outside the cage but she is self concious about her cage Life's full of surprizes
When I went to the store we went to a room to look/play with the bird and within 30 seconds he/she flew on my head and crawled all over me and seeing how on the first of getting the bird it would barely touch her makes me really happy that my bird likes me! ☺
During the first day I got him home, I was so exited and tried to let him out, I think he got so scared and was flying around, he ended up hiding under the desk, which is very hard for me to reach him, takes me 1 hr to get him out. So I would suggest the new bird owners try not to take the bird out of their cage during the first day, just let them get used to you and your home first, and try to get them a small, fairly empty room, always make sure that there are no distractions such as dogs/cats moving around.
wow you make this look so easy! Usually if you get your lovebird from a breeder that is HAND FED/HAND RAISED they will be way more easier to train. My lovebird is a dutch color too and he is the sweetest boy ever.
I literally did this today right now... I am so proud... I hav a pair of budgies and she now climbs on my hand ...she is my first pet and i am so happy today....
You have made more progress in 3 days than I have in 3 years with my lovebird I've tried EVERYTHING but nothing works. And I have had her since she was a baby but she just hates everything including me
Well, i have a problem, My lovebird is very aggressive. I just recently got it, and im not sure where to start. My lovebird keeps screaming when someone is just passing by, and it makes it very hard to tame the bird. Please Help.
Maybe you can try feeding it treats by hand. You also need to make sure your bird can trust you to not touch it when your near the cage and make sure they are comfortable with you around.
I remember that the first night when I took him back from the breeder he was too nervous, he was screaming and flying around inside his cage when we approach to his cage. I did some research online , as many people suggested, during the first 2 days, I just took a chair, sit in the room beside his cage, talk to him, play some music or video of the other parrot/lovebird singing. I noticed that everytime he heard the other lovebirds singing, he will start singing right away. Once he get some trust from you, you can take him out using a perch, I find him getting a lot more calm when he is outside the cage/on my hand, i would recommend taking him to another room (with no or few furniture) where he cannot see his cage, otherwise he will always want to fly back to his cage, also make sure that there are no distractions such as pets or children running around. During the time he is outside the cage, you can try feed him and give him some treats on your hand, let him associate hand with food/treats :). After few days, he should be comfortable siting and eating on your hand. Hope that will help. :)
I tried letting him out and hand feeding him. Sadly it did not turn out so great, I calming set my hand on top of the cage laying it flat, with the treats on top. The bird was too afraid of my hand and so it flew back into the cage, pacing back and forth. And, i did do this in a room with no furniture. After this, i left the room and the bird went back out onto the top perch. So I just decided to grab a chair and sit with the bird, talking to it, and reading a book aloud, so that the bird could get comfortable with me. I'll try to hand feed it again, if I notice the bird is relaxed and calm whenever I'm around him. Thanks :) Hopefully I can be able to tame my Lovebird.
Maybe you can try let him sit on your finger, at a distance (arm distance), don't put him too close to you, dont do anything, dont try to touch him. wait for 5-10 mins, you should notice that he will be calming down and becoming more comfortable as time passes, once you think he is calm, you can try move you finger a little bit closer to you, wait for another 5-10 minutes, move a little closer again, let him know that it’s okay and he doesn’t have to be afraid, repeat this several times a day, each time you should be able to let him sit closer to you, as time passes and he will realize that your hand will not hurt him. Good luck:)
unless if it is a baby. if not , you will never tame it just watch out so it will not bite your hand off. mine is a monster ,her name is tasmanian , but her babies are fine tame cute, affectionate
I found mine lost in my terrace, bougth a cage and he inmediately flew to it. It's been three months now since I found him and today was the first day he let me pet him so it depends on the bird and where they come from. Floki was terrified of hands at first and it took time for him to relax around us, but I'm proud of him now.
Heres a tip guys. If you wanna tame a lovebird you have to not look at it because it will think your a oredator trying to murder so don't look at your bird
Nope wrong i have had my lovebird for 2 months and she doesnt let anyone touch her and when she bites she bites rlly hard she already but me once and i startded to bleed
Greetings carly 88. I started keeping Peach faced [ Rosy faced] Lovebirds [Agapornis Roseicolli ] when I was 12 years old . I am now in my early 60's - my last bird passed on several years back . I note that your bird is an immature bird just about going in to its adult colouring . I am judging this by the fact that your birds beak still has a small amount of black colouring on it . The very immature 'Roseicolli' have fully black beaks in the normal variety . The exotic coloured varieties have various different shadings in the immature birds . When the bird matures to its adult plumage the various beak colours become a natural flesh like colour . The young birds are usually quiet and still and quite gentle [as all animal babies are ]. Your subscribers who have experienced bites - most likely have tried to 'bond' with mature birds . most likely hen birds . Mature male birds usually give a wee nibble but hens ...hah,hah,...you will soon find out if they are hens...!!! Get a young bird newly separated from its parents that has learned to eat by itself . Sit with it in its cage for a day or so . Cover the cage up with a towel so as not to have any distractions -do this slowly not suddenly . Then gently ,very slowly, place your hand to its chest , so it gets used to that . Then finally after a few days it will be trusting enough to pop on your finger [...do not try this with an adult bird unless it has been hand trained already ...or ouch....especially if it is a hen ...] . After a while[a period of days ] gently [very gently -birds bones are very brittle] ,very slowly , enclose the bird in your hands and carefully ,slowly transfer the bird under your shirt /blouse ...wear a vest underneath for the bird to cling to . What i would do is to get the birds trust by placing it gently under my shirt -let it cling on to my vest . Gently stroking the bird with one finger on top of the shirt - the bird gets used to you . Make sure your collar is loose so that the bird does not get hot . little by little the bird will bond to you . It is better to keep lovebirds in pairs - but again obtain 2 immature birds . I note that you have clipped the birds wings . Yes -that is often done as an aid to bonding - but remember eventually the flight feathers will grow back -don't keep cutting them back ... a bird is meant to fly . About flying make sure that all windows have their curtains drawn at first -birds fly upwards and if they see a glass window they think it is just empty space and might fly in to the glass and stun and even kill themselves . I would prefer that people do not clip flight feathers but if you do make sure that you get someone who knows how to do it -and do both wings . Sit on a double bed before you place the bird on your shoulder - as it is the birds natural instinct to try to fly . A glide down to a double bed is not as problematic as falling down to a hard floor . Again if you are patient and slow the bird [s] will bond to you without having to clip the flight feathers . Go slowly with every new movement that you introduce . Keep the room quiet . No cats . No dogs .Unless your cat or dog has bird -buddies before and is proven 'safe' - personally i would just keep other pets away . Cats can jump really high - so make sure the birds cage is in a safe place . Regarding cages - huh - Lovebirds are very messy - especially hens -they have a propensity to put everything in their water -their seed ,their green food ,paper that they have 'clipped' off the floor of the cage ... if you are going to keep a lovebird[s] ... be prepared for the mess that a hen especially will make . Give your bird[s] lots of attention . Make sure that you do not overfeed fatty -seed types . Plain canary mixed with a some ....some....some ... sunflower [sunflower is oily /fatty seed ] ... some wheat ,some brown rice ...and some Hulled Oats [In winter time ] . Use millet spray . Give your bird[s] lots of varied fresh vegetables to have fiber . Here in New Zealand we have what we called silver beet -you might know it in the USA as Swiss chard -[ or you can substitute with beet-root leaves] that is excellent for birds . Also washed preferably organic lettuce ,carrot , cabbage . Some fruit but make sure it is fresh and remove it once the bird[s] have had some of it . Do not over -indulge with nuts as again these are fatty /oily and too much can damage the birds liver . Lovebirds that have problems with their liver will show a discolouration of their plumage ...i.e. red feathers where green or yellow [...or blue in the more exotic varieties ] should be on their chests . The change is subtle at first -only a few red feathers - this is often in hen -birds . Make sure that you have sufficient cuttle -bone and grit for the birds to use . Keep the water bowls scrupulously clean . You have to have a lot of patience with Lovebirds as they are very messy with their water . Despite all of the above I would prefer that people do not keep birds at all . Certainly not on their own ...birds are sociable animals -keep them in pairs . If it was up to me I would train birds to sit on my shoulder and move around outside with me - i have done this - but it is a slow - very slow process - but it is rewarding - but it is not recommended unless you are prepared to spend lots of time bonding to your bird[s] . it is possible ... I had a bird that would sit on my shoulder - then fly to a tree then come back to me . I had a friend once - who had a pair of cockatiels -he would release the birds -they would fly high around the neighbourhood then come back to him -just like homing pigeons . I have seen videos from a south -american [I think ?] lovebird fancier who would let an entire flock of lovebirds fly free and they would fly back to him . That is 100 % dedication . I could not do this here in New Zealand as our Department of Conservation do not like exotic hook -beaks to be free in the wild at all . But you in the USA seem to have different laws in each of your states . I envy the folks in Phoenix Arizona ...if i lived there i would not need to keep caged lovebirds [or any birds] at all as they fly free in certain parts of Phoenix . Well enough said . I wish that we humans did not keep birds caged up -they were not meant to be caged up -but that said we love our little feathered friends if we must keep them -then DO IT PROPERLY ... read about them first ...online articles and good books from the public library written by experts ...not just some information from the pet-shop or some of the GESTAPO type of breeders that exploit rather than love birds . ideally birds should be free outside in their natural environment -but if we must have CAPTIVE birds and yes they are captives - then please ... give them the best that you can to allow them to have as much flight as possible -keep them in pairs or a flock if you are able to [start with two birds ...and keep it at that until you can do everything properly ] ...space /sunlight /fresh air balanced with shelter /fresh food [seed & greens ] and water and companionship ... Enjoy...do not exploit...please .Thank you for your time reading all of this . Nicholas John Papadopoulos ,Auckland ,New Zealand .
It is so impossible with mines. They don’t bite or attack or anything as some people wrote here, but they’re totally like “thanks for asking but we prefer play by ourselves” I tried a lot of methods, but no matter how much I love to kiss their head, I’d rather let them be happy in their own way! :))
@@nak141 hey thank you!! i've spent a lot of time with my birds since then and they come in my hand to eat, but are still a little bit scared when i try to pet them =/ hopefully they will trust me enough in the future :D
@@mihaescuoana7099 it takes a while. Keep trying for weeks/months. Slowly they will get used to ur hand. They love to scratch their neck. My bird comes to me only for this or to sleep on the shoulder. Try nodding with your index finger like you want to scratch them and they will be submissive. They even rest their beak on the table or ur body closing their eyes starting to doze
No way this is possible. Your lovebird was definitely hand fed by a rescuer when it was small and then it somehow got scared of humans and now you are making them less afraid. If it was a natural lovebird then it would be ripped the blood out of my finger
I've had bird since I was six years old, I'm fourteen now. We've had various birds over the years.. currently we have a ringneck Dove, a barred parakeet, and a peach-faced lovebird. We used to have a rescue morning dove, another peach-faced, a parakeet, and a white-faced blue / yellow peach face mutation. ANYWAY.. lol.. our remaining lovebird, Mango! It's a lovely, and clever bird overall!! Although he is.. pretty sassy, I must say.. now one can boss him around lol. I apologize I'm blabbing, anyhow.. mango is a great bird but he's never been one that you can touch really.. our blue lovebird Turquoise was a cuddle bug! But Mango just.. is not.. he's tame, but he'd prefer you don't touch him.. sometimes I can stroke his belly, but not for long.. I'm wondering if there's anyway I can train him?? So that he likes pets.. my parents are separated, and he's living at my dad's house.. and I feel bad because I can't spend enough time with him!! And my dad doesn't really make much of an effort, IDKKKK.. SORRYYY I'M YAMMERING ON AND ON.. DO ANY OF YOU?? knowww howwww I can get Mango to let me touch him more??
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for making this video, this helped so much. My sister was pretty impatient so I want to tame my lovebirds a little quickly, I found this video and it really helped. Thank you so much! It really helped me an my sister get used my lovebird :D
Funny story: So i was close too earning My lovebirds trust he wasn't scared of me. But one day my sister approached the cage. And tried too touche it...... Let's just say.. I had to earn there trust again..... Thanks sis🙄
I've always said there is a difference between hand reared and hand tame .....this bird has not just been taken away from its parents in a aviary .... Ok I might be wrong but after over 40 years of being a aviculturist and hand rearing & taming many parrots over that time , I trust my opinion .
I have two lovebirds ( not knowing either gender) and if I put my hand in the cage of the one he bites me so hard I bleed to the point where I'm scared of him. The other is scared of me. I need some help and I don't know what to do. I don't own gloves I'm to young to go buy them on my own and they are both learning from each other
Lowlifelemon Universe if it's young then you can take it but if it's older then 3 year it will be difficult try clipping it wings then after a week try taking one bird outside then leave the other one inside the cage so they won't interrupt each other carry a bird out side with a towel then put it some were hi I put mine on my car trunk and taught it to step up slowly by slowly but when it steps up say the word step up so it could learn then after 20 mins of training outside you could try and carry it with your finger inside to its cage or if it's still scared put grave it with a towel..... hoped it helped I did it with my budgie not to long ago and it's ok .....hope it helped :)
lizbeth santiago good for you. Normally grabbing a bird is like a predator bird grabbing a meal. So normally that kind of action can make it harder for a bird to warm up to you. Others might not be so lucky.
I bought a used lovebird. He is about 1 year old (according to previous owners) and was rehomed 3 times. He is very smart, but has very little trust. He will eat from the tip of my fingers, but other than that is very scared of hands. I'm seeing progress, but it is very slow (3 months in).
Oh my word. It makes sense that he would have very little trust, being rehomed three times in a year would really make you not trust your own environment. I hope the little guy does all right.
He does alright. The bird is no longer scared of hands. While he has his own food bowl, I hand feed him everyday. At first, he would only take seeds that I held at the tip of my fingers. Now, he can eat from an open hand. I've managed to get him to put one feet on my finger, but he still refuses to step up. I've managed, with moderate success, to teach him to target the tip of a stick. Inside the cage, he goes for it. Outside, not so much. Well... a little. He has grown increasingly territorial. Inside the cage, he will be quick to bite. That being said, he will not bite if I'm offering food. Also, he doesn't bite outside the cage. I don't know how to stop this behavior. I'm positive its agression... he draws blood. And I react to the pain by moving my fingers, he doubles down and bites harder. I've tried rubber gloves (like doctor gloves)... be he doesn't care. He'll bite regardless.

Ive been a Lovebird breeder for 20 years. This is not the way to tame a lovebird. There are 3 stages of taming them.
You're main objective is to build trust this is true, but using a perch like that will scare a non tamed lovebird. Here are some tips:
If you buy a Lovebird try to buy one WITHOUT its wings clipped.
Then you are ready for step 2
How do you handle them with the towel? He just flies away when I try to handle him.
Does taming also works if you have 2 of them? I dont want to have only one.
It does but if you are buying an already mated pair it will be a bit harder.
Robert Esposito great advise. but if you throw a towel over the bird, will this not scare the bird?? thx
No. Remember that a bird has eyes on its sides so it cannot see the towel coming from the top. When I say throw a towel I don't mean fling it. I mean think of it like a light toss. Once its covered with the towel you will see it calms down quickly.
This bird is a paid actor...

Impossible. If I approach my hand to the cage, they come for my flesh. Your lovebird was hand raised, he was just scared of you.
Incarna Dude! you have a tamed lovebird(s) by yourself! they love to bite and play with you.
LtRipley hahah
My lovebird isnt aggressive which is weird or maybe hes just an intellectual
Well small tip, you mentioned them. If they are more than one you'll always be left getting yourself hurt, so if you have one bird its really very easy to tame him.
That's exactly it. A scared lovebird won't even let your hand close one bit before they start flying away. I tried to tame one but it was impossible. I only got him to stand on my shoulder but I would not dare to try to grab him cause he would fly away instantly and trust me when I say I tried!!
0:36 my bird will rip off my finger if I do that 2 him
MARIA ALFARO i freaking know right
MARIA ALFARO same
BOTH of my lovebirds will bite my hand off.
MARIA ALFARO hahaha i agree
Hahahaha yeah mine to she would attack me!
MARIA ALFARO air have the same color bird omg and it is a lovebird I love birds mine is trained it stands on my head and dances
Its no joke when a lovebird bites
Anime Yume no it is a joke lol. i bought my yellow love bird from 1 and a half years now. its bite is sooo normal.
They look kinda small so not sure about that, but I had a Green Cheek Conure that drew blood every time all the time.
Anime Yume IT FRIKEN HURTS
swiftbear how odd! my conure never draws blood.
Anime Yume depends females are more agressive.
Hand raised lovebirds are the best. The journey from a baby to a grown lovebird is amazing, no cap!
he already started off a little game though. It's completely different when you buy from a breeder who doesn't handle them. To me, he looked tame already he was just gaining trust for you. He wasn't biting of completely freaking out (at least w what you showed LOL). I have 4 and 9 babies on the way 😄
Micaila Bra
James Dallessandro how did you tame her? I just got mine and she is like this rn
drugs_are_yummy I tamed (kind of) an Amazon like this.
So if u keep on rubbing when they bite you they will stop and calm down.
raise them from 2-3weeks old they will be very attached to you, some even free flight them with the proper training
edit:I have a vid of my hand fed bird
Leobullet1 thx. i read the whole thing and its very helpful.
Leobullet1 thank you so much for the tips. I'm getting two lovebirds in some time and I'm quite nervous...😅
Leobullet1 ohhhh well but my cockatiel has been laying eggs for 7yrs and ur right she just comes out to eat drink and play and than she goes away. Even now i have a male for 3 yrs her eggs still dont hatch and shes a plucker her head is bald and so is her under the wings and neck and stomach any ideas wat should i do
Leobullet1 bird thinks I'm a mate though...
I don't know why ;-;
This love bird in the video is already tame . You can't even get close to the non tame love bird.
Not the fact , but I have wild ones non tamed , when I enter my hand they are scared but the don't come to rip off my flesh
Where as lutino lovebird , she was with me since 6 months but now shes over a year , sge doesnt bite when shes outside the cage but she is self concious about her cage
Life's full of surprizes
When I went to the store we went to a room to look/play with the bird and within 30 seconds he/she flew on my head and crawled all over me and seeing how on the first of getting the bird it would barely touch her makes me really happy that my bird likes me! ☺
+Random Human On The Internet 💚
During the first day I got him home, I was so exited and tried to let him out, I think he got so scared and was flying around, he ended up hiding under the desk, which is very hard for me to reach him, takes me 1 hr to get him out. So I would suggest the new bird owners try not to take the bird out of their cage during the first day, just let them get used to you and your home first, and try to get them a small, fairly empty room, always make sure that there are no distractions such as dogs/cats moving around.
Rebecca Walton cruel
Yeah ya think? poor bird
i had the same thing happen to me my lovebird got scared and started flying around the room and hid in a crack (i easily got her out though)
Thats why you clip the wings and bird proof your house
carly 88 then how do you get them to perch on your shoulder
wow you make this look so easy! Usually if you get your lovebird from a breeder that is HAND FED/HAND RAISED they will be way more easier to train. My lovebird is a dutch color too and he is the sweetest boy ever.
Instructions unclear. My lovebird is now a rabid dog.
imgaine you're lovebird just starts barking XD
Lovebirds are just. Awesome. The learn, they understand
, they play, they do everything.
bun bon agreed!
Everytime he sits on my hand he poops 😂😂😂
i feel sorry for you...... damn
Same he do like that with me but not everytime
I literally did this today right now... I am so proud... I hav a pair of budgies and she now climbs on my hand ...she is my first pet and i am so happy today....
This looks exactly like my bird. I literally feel like im watching him.
Sameee
Some useful advice, my pair were chirping a lot while seeing me watch the video lol
My lovebird livie (make) strayed chirping when he heard yours!
Today I got two love birds and I got a stick to get them out like u did and it really helped thank u so much!
Like if you have a lovebird
I found mine lost in my terrace, bougth a cage and he inmediately flew to it. It's been three months now since I found him and today was the first day he let me pet him so it depends on the bird and where they come from. Floki was terrified of hands at first and it took time for him to relax around us, but I'm proud of him now.
;w; my lovebird is a finger killer
Lol
Same 🥺 it’s so sad bc all I wanna do it love them
And you don’t even have lovebird
Heres a tip guys.
If you wanna tame a lovebird you have to not look at it because it will think your a oredator trying to murder so don't look at your bird
Same my mom bites by the lovebird
This will be a good advice for my grandson, he has two love birds
NOTICE BEFORE WATCHING A VIDEO: This only works on hand-fed lovebirds, but not the ones from the pet shop.
This lovebird is already tamed! No way would be that easy!
Ommmmg thank you so much today it landed on my window and I was wondering what kind of bird it is.. Cuz it's soo beautiful.. It's the saaame as yours!
Wow
cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute

That bird is so cute 🐦
It is so impossible with mines. They don’t bite or attack or anything as some people wrote here, but they’re totally like “thanks for asking but we prefer play by ourselves” I tried a lot of methods, but no matter how much I love to kiss their head, I’d rather let them be happy in their own way! :))
They are ridiculous and such menace and I loved them dearly.
Bird looks young and wings are clipped which makes taming a lot easier. Can you do a video with a mature bird with its wings unclipped?
I don't have a video but am currently taming a mature pair.
@@fishfan2 omg please do you have any advices? My lovebirds are so scared of me :( and i'm afraid i will never be able to tame them
@@mihaescuoana7099 just place some food /seeds in your palm and go near by them. Keep on trying...call them by their names.
They even rest their beak on the table or ur body closing their eyes starting to doze
lovely lovely bird sooo cute
It really helped me an my sister get used my lovebird :D

if it is female your relation could be so hard 😃 my bird which female. When she angry bite, when she happy also bite.
I've always said there is a difference between hand reared and hand tame .....this bird has not just been taken away from its parents in a aviary .... Ok I might be wrong but after over 40 years of being a aviculturist and hand rearing & taming many parrots over that time , I trust my opinion .
I'm only here for the cute bird

I remember when I had mine, I just grabed him, while he was trying to get away from me, kissed him and in a week he was flying in my shoulder lol❤❤❤
lizbeth santiago good for you. Normally grabbing a bird is like a predator bird grabbing a meal. So normally that kind of action can make it harder for a bird to warm up to you. Others might not be so lucky.
how to scratch a lovebird ...
I love this lovebird it's so cute. And thank u for the tips. Watching from 🇦🇪

Que pajarito tan majo / What a lovely bird
I bought a used lovebird. He is about 1 year old (according to previous owners) and was rehomed 3 times. He is very smart, but has very little trust. He will eat from the tip of my fingers, but other than that is very scared of hands.
I'm seeing progress, but it is very slow (3 months in).
David Gardiner ‘a used lovebird’ Dude wtf it’s not an object
Lol "used"
Hey Kim. I am fully aware he is not an object.
thanks now i have 4 fingers
MY LOVEBIRD IS A PSYCHO I CANT PET HIM HE KEEPS BITITNG ME
buzz at least your getting used to the bite. Im scared to even touch his cage
some birds dont like being pet,, it is normal dont worry :D

Nothing, i have a lovebird couple and it had babies, I didn’t... idk how to say it in English, let’s just say that I never petted them and stuff like that, that lovebird grew up and I want them to get used to being petted
this baby bird looks like a couple months old. its always best to train them young plus have their wings trim. makes it easier to tame so they wont fly away. i have 4 five months old and 4 around 2 months old. i didnt really have the time to hand fed them so they are a little naugthy, not listening to my commands, but other than that i can pick them up to sit on my finger. the trick is, dont let them see their cage or other birds in the room. they tends to listen better.
Your vedios are Soo helpful for my 2 peachface love bird

he is so cute! how much did he cost?
I got the baby lovebird from the breeder for around $60-$80, the cage cost around $250-300. The bird food/treat cost around $10/month
was your lovebird new when u made this video? cause i dont want mine to fly away since its cage is clipped outside😞
I just got them last 2 days ago and im very excited to gain trust from it and my family is always around and my dad doesnt want to let it go outside, yet i think, because he found them outside and decided to get em? and he said he got pecked and his hand bled- but u dont want it to stay in the cage forever right? i dont:) im just worried it takes 2 days to get it outside its cage :( i will make it to 3 or 4 days to let it outside.. pls comment if your lovebird(s) flew or just stayed and just walk^^
Ma lovebird walked i tried to touch her nope she flew away :P
omg your bird its so beautifull!❤😍😍
Your beautiful bird is exactly like my lovebird Kiara 💙
Got a supposedly hand raised lovebird a few days ago but she just seems terrified of everything and all the time is on high alert - I can’t even get near her. Can a bird like this ever warm up and become friendly??
No idea and same question.. is it better now?
My dad has a iviary that contains lovebirds, parekeets, and cockatails the sound of the birds are great for sleeping I am taking care of a expensive lovebird orphan from the iviary
Pigeonton the lovebird so cute
Yours is kind by nature, mine took one year to do what you did in 5 days 😅😅
I met my lovebird at a car wash in a vacation home. She jumped on top of my car. I then gave her water and picked her up. The next day, I had to travel (by car) to Colorado. We had to fly to New Jersey today. She is very loud and has a high pitched voice. Wish me luck please.
Hes so cute :3
